What a ripoff. With the money they charge to get in along with the money they charge for food and drinks, you'd think they'd invest in a better sound system for the so called events they host. Also, it's just gotten really ghetto here. *UPDATE* Minutes after this review was posted, multiple fights broke out. The so called security had little to no control over the situation. It felt very unsafe. The fights were near the entrance so even if we wanted to leave, we could not because the entrance/exit was blocked. There should be more than one way to enter/exit in the event of an emergency. Luckily no one brought out a gun, knife or any other weapons. People don't know how to act right anymore. read more

The service was not good at all. It took almost 20 minutes for our server to greet us and when we asked another server to help us with at least drinks, his response was that was not his section and we would have to wait. Things were not put in correctly. Our food was cold when it arrived to the table. The portions were so small for what we paid for. We got the family special on the weekend, we got brisket, chicken, sausage links, pinto beans, and potato salad, we added some ribs too. Oh man I have a kid that is a picky eater and he devoured the ribs, the sausage and some brisket, my husband liked the beans I didn't because I'm not a fan of cumin but they were not bad. It was a good amount of food for less than $40 with tip. Please do not have any delusions that this BBQ joint is on par with the big boys. The sides were actually pretty decent, but the Turkey was extremely dry, the chicken was inedible, the sausage was OK, but I can get the same thing at HEB, and the brisket..... Just moved here from Dallas and this seems to be the best "live" outdoor bar so far. It's much slower here in San Antonio but I can see this place having a few more touches of some marketing/advertising/ promotion help and it would definitely help. My girl friend came to this place with a few of her friends. They took her pepper spray I bought her for her safety at the front door. You'd expect them to take knives and guns but taking women's pepper spray is delusional. She told me they took her pepper spray abs though it in a box full of other people pepper spray. She stated that the spray was a gift and she needed it back and how is she gonna know which one is hers if they're just throwing them randomly into a box. The security just stared at her rudely without answering and she ended up never getting the spray back. That's terrible customer service! If your establishment is going to take people's property you need to be able to establish a way to get it back to those people. read more

Walked in to smoke and waited 40m in line for food. I ordered brisket nachos and mozzarella sticks. Brisket nachos consist of a small amount of chopped brisket with a sweet sauce, Rico's nacho cheese, canned beans, and jalapeños. Not at al a good combo. It was awful. This place is just a disappointment. I would order here during lockdown and get the one of the many family specials they would offer and each time the quality would go down. Brisket went from a delicious smoked flavor with a bark to die for to something that was chewy and seemed boiled and oven baked. Just tasteless. The beans (or as I like to call it now, garlic and cilantro soup) is by far the worst. It's sad because I enjoy cilantro but the beans are just off tasting and almost sour. The only thing redeeming at Smoke is their creamed corn or the potato salad which both have a nice, creamy texture and the flavor is spot on. Now Smoke has the Skybar and I guess something had to suffer for the change and sadly it was the food. Don't even get me started on their lack of social distancing. Seeing a video of their anniversary bash with Nelly and watching hundreds of people cramped in a spot without masks just made my jaw drop especially after losing many friends and family to covid in the past year. Not to mention the owners horrible responses to people pointing out their discriminatory policies on tattoos. As someone who has brothers and cousins who are professional tattoo artists, art school majors, and graphic designers, they have the financial stability to tattoo any part of their bodies without problem and seeing a google reviewer being told in response to their tattoo policy "it's ok to have tattoos just not on your neck and face. why is that so much to ask? who does that?" is just rude. I understand when a business wants to attract a certain clientele but being judgmental and discriminatory will not get you far by any means. Especially since many restaurants in San Antonio employ heavily tattooed individuals in their kitchens.Does it bring to the food quality down? Absolutely not. Does it mean everyone with a neck or face tattoo is a bad person or a trouble maker? Again, No!! It's sad because this place had some serious potential but thankfully this is San Antonio and finding another BBQ spot is like shooting fish in a barrel. Smoke will definitely not be getting any more of my support. Fire Fire Fire . This place did not freaking disappoint my Boy Noah from the Pot Belly Pig restaurant from lunch recommended this place... So was walking distance from the Marriott hotel. I told 5 of my friends from FCA who was attending my conference to roll with me . Now this means a lot because I am the BBQ expert so they trusted my opinion. Boy this place did not disappoint. Large and spacious eating area and the staff was friendly. I told the chef I was here from miami and i told him we wanted ribs and brisket. Home boy ran outside to the pit and grab some fresh meat of the smoker and hook us up.. Damn the food was fire We got the rib and chicken special with half of pound of brisket and sausage. When during lunchtime on Father's Day, good music choice by the DJ, no line good customer service and the bathrooms were good as opposed to previous posts. My only complaint is the food and the price of it. We had the wings, brisket, Mac, and P Salad. The meat was super salty and the sides were "eh." Aesthetically stunning venue with a huge amount of space for people. 2 bars and very open area. Everything was very well maintained and clean! Also to add, the bathrooms were so nice and clean! It was our first time here and admittedly we were lost on where to go and even though there were tons of workers around and not many guests at the time, no one asked us if we needed help. After tracking someone down and we figured out where to go for food and drinks (food, tea, and lemonade in the indoor room and other sodas at the bar) we decided to take pictures of the menu and grab some drinks before ordering because you get your food immediately. The bar tender was so nice and friendly and elaborated on any questions we had. After our drinks, we got our food, which again, the guys who served us and the lady who checked us out were super nice. Overall, I think the beans were the warmest of our food. All the meats were cooked perfectly, but cold. The pulled pork was not even enjoyable because the fat was so solid from being cold that it crunched and stuck to my mouth. You could tell that if the food had stayed warm or was warmed up that the flavor would be so much better. We'd go back for the bar experience, but as for food, we'd rather get it curbside or delivered so we have the power to warm it up. read more
