This place has been in a few locations downtown and they are now located on 501 E. Crocket Street. They are only doing pick up service with no dine in option. I did notice construction going on in the back and it looks like they are building an outside dining/drink area. Looking forward to experiencing that in the near future. I've been working from home since March and I'm tired of having home lunch and was craving BBQ. I'm so glad I saw the FB ad for this place. I ordered their Thursday Special ($21.99) and picked it up. The special comes with 1 lb. brisket, 2 chicken dark meat quarters, 2 sausages, 1 pint of charro beans, 1 pint of cream corn and BBQ sauce. I'll rate each item on a 5 point system. Brisket (5 ) The brisket was moist with great bark on the edge. The flavor was a combination of salt, pepper, mesquite smoke and a hint of bbq sauce. Sooo good. Chicken (5 ) The chicken meat had a pink tinge that only comes from slow smoking. Chicken was moist and the caramelized bbq sauce on the skin added spectacular flavor. Sausage (4.5 ) The sausage was meaty and tasted like all beef. They lost 1/2 star due to the small size of the links. Pinto Beans (4 ) They had great flavor, but the beans did not taste/look fresh. They were missing the pinky color of fresh pinto beans. Cream Corn (2 ) Ohhhh the cream corn. This side needs help. The cream was thick gelatinous globs that resembled cold mayonnaise instead of silky, caramelized cream. After two bites I was done with this side. I will definitely visit Smoke again. If you've never tried it, the Thursday Special may be just the incentive to give it a try. What would have made this special perfect would have been the option to choose your two sides and a jalapeño or two. Let me know what you think of this place! read more

It is a very spacious place with 2-3 bars outside lots of outdoor seating. The food is served in the "food station" area I got the turkey sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. About $13-$14 after tax. The servers are in between polite attentive & doing their own thing. The turkey itself doesn't have that moist look like other places do (smoke shack, blanco bbq) the Mac and cheese was basically ice cold which made me really sad cause come on mannnn how you gonna serve cold Mac and cheese on a gorgeous day. All in all I would go back to have a drink or hangout with the family but I would eat before or after that's just me tho. read more

First time here and I would advise use the valet because we parked in the street and if you use the Park app it's just as expensive. Parking is limited on the street. The drinks are strong and the food was good!! Will come again and being the kids since it's so open. The outside seating is great and surprisingly fresh with all the fans and mist fans. The Cadillac sandwich was huge and very tasty!! The brisket tacos were very filling. The service was great they come around periodically and ask if you need to order anything and the entire place was very clean. We went around 1 pm so not sure if night time is any different. Ate there Sunday night and got the worst taco of my life. The tortilla had more moisture than the meat. I couldn't eat it and threw it away. Had to search for a clean table and only two in the place were occupied. Terrible experience overall. I wouldn't recommend it to my dog. They were out of various ingredients and materials (on a very slow Christmas Eve) Food was serviceable... But nothing to impress. Pulled pork was "flavorful"... But subpar to many other places did amazing que. Environment could be a little "much". The place was mostly empty - but the terribly Dj'd remixes were really f#*king loud. if possible I would leave a zero star. we ordered food, and the brisket was so dry, if you rubbed two pieces together you could start a fire. we also ordered jalapeño sausage and when we got it, it was regular and when we told our server about it, her response was "oh I should've told you we ran out, we have an event going on upstairs". Love this place. Food is great and love the atmosphere and entertainment . Most importantly every employee from wait staff to security are amazing and their customer service skills rock. Big crowds but bathrooms are always well kept. Because of all this we keep coming back. And even though it's outside and the temps are high the shade and fans make it tolerable. read more

The place is really cool. We were there for a Halloween party and concert and it was a ton of fun. They had a live band playing also a live DJ costume contest full bars and restaurants. We tried a little bit of finger foods to help absorb some of the alcohol we were consuming and they were great. The place has a cool vibe. The biggest downfall is the bathroom situation. They have a bunch of porta potties. However, only on 1 side of the compound stalls has a portable fountain to wash your hands. Also, I tested multiple hand sanitizing stations and none of them had available liquid (on both sides). So, after using the bathroom on the wrong side of the property then trying various hand sanitizing stations. It grosses you out seeing the staff then use the bathroom plus all the customers. While the staff could use the kitchen sink in the back. Perception is key. The brisket nachos tasted good just nothing really fancy about them. The best way to describe them is getting nachos at a Spurs game. They also have a list of rules for entering. Which is cool. The only one I saw that was ironic was the no facial tattoos. Only because, I saw a guy who appeared to be a cook tatted with face tattoos. Could he hang out at the bar with his friends at night on his free time? Based on the rules I would say no? Food was good enough. Not sure what was worse, the staff or abundance of flys outside in eating area. Facility and property under construction, being a first time guest we walked in the side entrance at 5pm. When we left after our meal, we tried exiting the same place only to be told that it was closed and that it was common sense about where to enter/exit by a staff employee. He mentioned 2 or 3 times while shaking his head in disgust that I could follow commonsense. It ruined the entire experience being spoken to as a drunk bar patron at 2am. Food was really good (5 star) Brisket / Turkey platters are what we ordered and we really liked it. The ambiance is probably the only thing I would give 3-4 stars, but the food was really good and would definitely recommend to a party that is hungry. The music is so loud you can't talk to others at your table! The food was ok, but the BBQ sauce definitely misses the mark! We were there to check out Tejano band and get some bbq before the show. We arrived and decided to try valet parking. The young lady said it was 10 dollars to park. Then she says, " I'll park your car and I'll bring you your keys back and when I do, I will accept whatever tip you like to give. Then at the end of the night, you'll give me your keys, I'll get your car for you for another tip. I paid the 10 dollars and tipped her once when she brought back my keys. That's not how valet works. Brisket was good but the size of the sandwich which was small did not match the 14 dollar price. Over priced for such a small portion of brisket. You do get one "small" side. At the main bar, one male bartender was charging 6 dollars for an ultra. On my 2nd round, the female bartender was charging 5 dollars. Couple of ladies sitting next to us experienced the same thing. This restaurant was just ok. I got their signature mixed sandwich and my wife got the brisket one. Taste was decent, but what threw us off was that we weren't able to swap kettle chips for a small side. The only option was to buy a pint size side at $6 which seemed steep and for us was far too much. The fact that they can't do substitutions or adjust the menu was pretty bad. In general the ambiance was nice and thats most of what is carrying this to a 3 star. The drinks and the abundance of heaters makes it for a nice hang out spot. I'll start with what I enjoyed. Macaroni and cheese was on point! Could definitely taste the cheese flavor. It was warm. I would order this again. Potato salad was pretty good also and I usually care for potato salad. Didn't have crunchy celery or other veggies that some places put. I would eat this again. Sausage was surprisingly good. I say that because most places have chewy casing and this one had more of the crisp and the meat was warm and "meaty" . I would eat this again. The banana pudding was aight. I mean for what tasted like a box pudding mix with some cookie crumbs of sorts sprinkled on top it came out good. I was thinking it would be a banana bread pudding type thing. Sadly not. I would not get this again. The chicken had nice flavor however it was cold and dry. I was on time for the pickup and drove 10 minutes home. I would not get this again. The brisket bark had flavor, however that's as far as the flavor went. The rest of the meat did not have flavor. Tasted as if was cooked in oven. I could not pull it apart with my fingers I had to use a knife to cut through my brisket. It was cold as well. From smoking my own brisket two weekends ago I would say they need to smoke this longer. I would not get this again. The description on what the special was ( 2 jumbo thighs, 2 jumbo quarters) was not what I received. You can see the photos for that. I received 2 thighs and 2 legs. The size was no bigger than what I can buy from H-E-B. I would not get this again. The temperature of the meat in the special was as though they had pre-made these kits for quick service instead of putting in warmer and cutting it fresh. After seeing these specials on Facebook for a while I was excited to finally try it out. Unfortunately I can't say I would go back for any of the meats thus defeating the purpose of going to BBQ joint. I gave it 2 stars because the sides were good. Maybe if they have a rib and sausage special with same sides I'll give that a go. read more
