We were not aware of the menu and I ordered a bbq pulled pork with two sides and a drink. It is $5.00 more to add two sides or a side and drink. I read that wrong. So I ordered two sides. My husband got pit beef. They did not offer a sauce. Drink cups are small and refills are $1.00. So for two sandwiches, two drinks, and 2 sides... bill was over $40.00. Next time we will know to ask for sauce at the window, to save a trip back to the window. The great news, best Cole slaw in ocean city. Creamy, fresh, perfect. My sandwich was good as well. My husbands pit beef was ok. He said meat was too thick. We will go back for Cole slaw! Staff were not busy when we went. Person taking the order was ok. No warm fuzzies or greetings. We got one of their combos..it was a rack of ribs, half a chicken, and pulled pork with 3 sides and cornbread. Maybe I got an over-cooked rack of ribs...not sure but it was tough to eat since it was so hard and dry so most of the rib was tossed out. Chicken was moist but bland...the skin did taste flavorful but the chicken meat itself didnt have any flavor but that can be solved by dipping it into some BBQ sauce which gave it some flavor. Pulled pork was actually the best meat we got. Potato salad was flavorful...I could taste the vinegar but it wasn't overpowering. Mac-n-cheese was okay but wasn't great...can't say it was bad but can't say it was awesome either. French fries were good, the kids liked it. We also got 3 kids meals: hot dog, chicken tenders and hamburger with fries...the kids enjoyed their food for the most part. The cornbread was dry and didn't have any flavor and we didn't enjoy it...sad part is my family loves corn bread but this time they didn't want anything to do with it. The combo was 49.99 +3kids meals and 3 large drinks came to a little over $98 They have a unique ordering system...order from one window and receive a playing card...the second windows calls the card (i.e. 9 of clubs) and collects the money when your food is ready. The brisket was dry, the greens sloppy, watery, in other words, no flavor; the Mac-n-cheese? Don't even think about it. Have been going here for 20 years. Used to be a hidden gem. The original owners retired a few years ago and a new family took over. It's been down hill since. They changed the recipe for their signature item. Brisket sandwich. It used to be sliced and you could add you own sauce. Now it's chopped with some bland sauce already added. Its obviously a lower cost cut of beef. Found out today they changed the recipe for their Carolina pork. It had almost no flavor. No Carolina zing at all. This business is under new ownership and it shows. At 5:00 p.m on a Saturday the half chicken was beyond dry. It was lukewarm, so no idea how long it had been sitting around. Ordered double order of collard greens. Could only take two bites due to the extremely excessive salt. Added in spiced apples. Apples were not even cooked. Ordered peach cobbler. Imagine two upbaked rectangles of pastry with canned peaches thrown in the middle. The only good thing was the cornbread. Most of kitchen staff was standing in the front watching TV. No. Just. No. We were legitimately excited to grab some Cue here based on their menu and reviews. But man, what a disappointment. Before I complain too much, I will admit: their fried chicken is really good. It isn't especially flavorful, but overall just plain tasty and well cooked. Their Mac & cheese and hush puppies were also quite good. Literally everything else was bad. First, it seems like the word "smoker" in this place's name is a misnomer, because the brisket and pulled pork had definitely never even been in the vicinity of a smoker. Both of them had absolutely zero smoke flavor at all and I suspect were actually cooked in either an oven or a crock pot. The ribs had an okay flavor but also appeared likely to have been made in an oven (I'm less sure about this than the brisket and pulled pork). The ribs could have cooked a little bit longer. Overall, I think this place is seriously over rated. That said, if you stick to the fried chicken, you'll be fine. read more

Ordered the following: a couple of the Carolina Pork BBQ sandwiches (were good but came with no sauce, apparently you have to ask for sauce). The Cajun catfish sandwich (was ok. Nothing to write home about. Didn't really taste any of the "Cajun" flavor). The hush puppies were pre made, definitely not from scratch but still tasty. The corn fritters were the same as the hush puppies. The coleslaw was lackluster and lacked flavor. I would try them again on my next trip down with more wisdom as to what to do regarding ordering. The staff was nice and friendly, their deck of card system was cute. The one item I couldn't get over was the mac and cheese, it had no flavor and needed something. After passing this place on previous visits to Ocean City, we decided to stop there for lunch today. I got a pulled pork sandwich and upgraded to a platter with sides of potato salad and cole slaw. My wife got a Lil Guy burger, well done, which despite the name was a good size. We shared my sides. She particularly enjoyed the potato salad. We also got an order of hush puppies. My sandwich had a generous amount of pork and was not overly sauced. The sauce itself was a sweeter version of a Carolina sauce. Extra sauce was available, but I didn't need any. The potato salad was simple, made with mayo and dill. Very tasty. The cole slaw was chopped like KFC's, but not as sweet. The hush puppies were some of the best I've had. I am not a bbq fan. But for bbq, this was pretty on point. I wanted a bbq sandwich but I couldn't decide which kind of meat, so I chose to get the platter and pick two! The red pulled pork was delicious but the carolina pork was the bomb! It was so sweet and tender, it didn't need anything extra. I devoured it quickly! The sides were pretty standard and the cornbread was good. I will be bringing my family here definitely. They love bbq. This place is a order at the window and seat yourself kind of place. You order at the first window and wait for your order to be called. Then you pay when your order is up. First time for me to pay after I get my food, but it's kind of a cool system. Since there aren't that many good restaurants around OC, Smoker's BBQ Pit is definitely 1 of the best place to go. We tried 3 of the BBQ sandwiches ($5.50 each): 1. Fresh Hand Pulled Pork - The red sauce that comes with it is more of a sweeter sauce. It is pretty delicious & the pulled pork is well made. 2. Eastern Carolina BBQ - Vinegar based sauce. I do like this one the best probably. 3. Texas Brisket BBQ - The brisket is nicely made: juicy & tender. Overall: 3 1/2 stars. It's more like hole-in-the-wall kindda place. They do serve good BBQ and the price & portion're reasonable. I do recommend using their hot sauce - it's awesome. read more

We'd driven down to Assateague National Seashore to photograph the wild horses and decided to stop back by here for breakfast. I'd read great things about them on Yelp and it was on my list of places to visit while in the area. Breakfast was pretty good, needed a little salt, but otherwise okay. They had Cheerwine! Imagine my surprise to see a place in Maryland with a North Carolina staple. I haven't drank a soda in over 8 years but when I saw this on the menu, I had to have it. Anyway.... We decided to go back for dinner that same night. We got the Smokers Feed Bag because it would give everyone something they'd actually eat. Chicken for my son, pulled pork for my husband, and ribs for me. My son thought the chicken could use a little more flavor on it's own, but once I explained to him it was meant to be paired with the BBQ sauce in the box he stopped complaining lol. The ribs were delicious, even the dried out edges were so good I couldn't help but naw on them. My husband didn't complain even in the least about his pulled pork he LOVED it. Now for the sides: I love me some good mac & cheese... this was not good mac & cheese. It was a little overdone, under-seasoned, and the cheese was a little grainy. With a little less time in the oven, and some garlic salt it could have been pretty good. The Collards were delicious. Not sure anyone ate the cornbread. Will we go back? If we are back in the area, which I am sure we will be, yes. I'd definitely go back. It's hard to find good Carolina BBQ outside of the Carolinas (my husband's words not mines... Prices are excellent, you can easily try multiple options and still feel thirty. I had the pulled pork sandwich and will admit it is a hit. Moist and tender chunks of pork, sauce was sweet and tangy but I believe they have a spicy flavor as well. Accompanying french fries were a bit of a miss, nothing special at all, the better option would be to go for a side order of hush puppies as they were a slightly better quality. I thought this place was not very good, I hate to say this because a lot of people come here and seem to really like it but I thought it tasted like cafeteria meat. The brisket especially tasted old and stale, and the ribs were not that meaty or moist. The pulled pork was OK. The sides were not that good either, soggy mac and cheese, although their garlic green beans were the best thing we got, a really intense garlic powder flavor which was really good. Lots of love to Smoker's BBQ. It's been a while since I've been there, but some of my best OC food memories are from my dad picking up big platters and either driving them back to our beach house or occasionally eating within the humid, screened-in confines of their establishment. I'm not a huge rib guy anymore. I love them, but I just don't seem to seek them out anymore - I guess it's more health related than anything. Our two favorite rib joints in OC were Nickidonies (SP?) and Smoker's, but Smoker's was just on another level of authenticity. In fact the only reason we'd go elsewhere was because Smoker's was a bit of a drive for us. JR's is an absolute joke. Do they boil their ribs??? Sorry, had to include that somewhere in here in case anyone was on the fence. I am so glad to see that Smoker's is still alive and doing well. When I saw it pop up on Yelp, I knew I had to write them a good review. I don't get up to Ocean City much anymore, but I would love to revisit Smoker's. The next time you are in OC, make a trip to West Ocean City and give Smoker's a go. Maybe you have the kids with you and you can head over to Frontier Town or the amusement park afterwards. Yes, I feel this place also deserves a fuller review from me. I convinced the group of guys that I go camping with every year that we should dedicate one meal per trip to this place. This year, we bumped that up to two meals. So now, I have a much deeper sampling of their menu under my belt. This place has never failed to satisfy our group. So let me run down some of the menu items sampled on this particular trip. The burnt brisket ends... I was told that every barbecue aficionado has to try this at least once. Well, this was the place I tried it, and I'm sold. My only beef in this case is that they choose to drench it in their red sauce. Do not get me wrong, I do love their sauce. But an item as flavorful as this probably should be served without sauce, or very little giving me the option to drench as I see fit. That being said, it was wonderful with the sauce too. The brisket sandwiches... this is the most popular item within our group. Almost everyone grabs one or two of these during our trip. Lots of red sauce again, but for the regular brisket and on a sandwich it fits better. BBQ wings... this place serves a big, crispy wing. You can't do much wrong if your wings are big and crispy. The baby back ribs... my litmus test on ribs is does it need to have sauce to be good? The answer on these ribs is certainly a no. They're good just with the rub on them. But they are better with the red sauce, and even the Carolina vinegar sauce. No, maybe this place isn't as good as Texas. But, they will satisfy most barbecue snobs like me. read more

NICE SPOT FOR BBQ AT A REASONABLE PRICE: Stopped here for a carry out before a night of beverages and grabbed a 1/2 chicken. Comes with two sides and a piece of cornbread for $10.99. Not a bad price considering where we are with OC prices being high on everything. Menu has sandwiches, chicken tenders, ribs etc as well which I wish I could have sampled. The chicken was good - smoked properly but was a little on the small side. I got the mac and cheese and cole slaw- as well as added fries (because I'm a fat ass). The Mac and cheese was meh - maybe it had been sitting out awhile but was kind of pasty and the noodles were soggy. Cole slaw was good. I'm a big cole slaw guy, and this was a good example of it. Love this place. We come here every year. Best pulled pork, Carolina, pulled bbq chicken. Best hush puppies. The people who work here are awesome. Seating is limited, for the amount of business they get. So when you get there have one person wait in line and the other get a table. They have about 8-10 tables inside a screened in area and the other picnic tables are completely outside.
