2 stars for the decor. We chose to go here based on their online brunch menu. After being seated, we scanned the menu and realized it was completely different and 25% of the items were unavailable. We all ordered drinks and 2 people in our group ordered food (the other 2 could not due to allergies which is why we had pre checked the menu). We were then told they were out of the tea 2 of us ordered. Then someone who we think is a manager came over. I honestly assumed he was going to apologize for being out of so many items but no. Instead he decided to lecture us for bringing in 2 half empty coffee cups. Repeatedly saying they serve coffee there. Okay..... He then proceeded to say "so no drinks for you guys then?" And was visibly agitated when I said they were out of our drinks. He inquired about what we had ordered for food (flatbread pizza) and attempted a joke about that not being brunch. Sir. Your menu is half empty. There are zero brunch items. He again asked what else we are having. We explained we couldn't have anything on the menu bc of a gluten allergy. He says "oh we have a veggie burger." Silence. "....it's on a gluten free bun." It was not. He said he'll go check and never came back. Just a really bizarre experience. Cool place but the Thursday social game night is not well run. Came in and it just kinda seemed like everyone knew each other already and difficult as a lone person to join in. The organizers could be doing more to match groups as enough people come so that it is more of what they advertise: a way to meet new people. Won't be coming back again for this reason and will try other social game nights elsewhere. read more

Food is good, love the game vault. I hate the confusing app that they make us use to order everything. It's confusing and doesn't allow people to split or double up their tabs easily. A how to would be good, but still. I am baffled that this place has only a handful of reviews- it's an incredible gem and 100% worth a visit! I have been here a couple of times including last night for a friend's birthday. The staff here are amazing, and are so helpful when you're trying to choose a game to play or need a food/bev recommendation. We played the Avengers version of Splendor and had a lovely time. We learned the game super fast thanks to help from the team. The food was great as always- that popcorn is fire!! A must try!! The burger has consistently gotten great reviews from my friends as well, and I've really enjoyed the Huaraches and the Bun. Can't overstate how cute this space is, either. The person who is supposed to teach you about the games did not know how to play and encouraged us to choose a different game- which we did. Super cool spot to hang and play games with some friends and also a great spot for a unique date night. You have to reserve a table and spots get taken up quickly depending on the day so be mindful of this. They have a ridiculous amount of games in the back and there's always someone to help you and give you recommendations. While playing games we had a few drinks, and appetizers. Our favorites were the pretzel bites and the crab and artichoke dip. The flat bread was underwhelming and a little soggy and I would skip. I also learned later on that you can purchase games after trying them out and I thought that was awesome because sometimes you don't know if a game will be the right fit before purchasing and so it's nice to be able to test it out. Very cool spot, made a reservation for a Friday night. Buildout was awesome, very unique. Board game master gave us great advice on a game to play. Ticket to Ride was the game, similar strategy level as risk, easy to learn. Was a fun introductory game to play and learn even while drinking. The food was very good as well. The curry on the fries was very good, also came with a nice spicy dipping sauce. I thought the popcorn was awesome, we ordered 2 bowls. The feta cheese was a bit rich for me, but very flavorful. Everyone at the table liked it. The charcuterie board was only meat, pickles and mustard. The sausage was just ok for me. It was my least favorite dish. The main courses were the burger, noodles, and pork sandwich. The pork sandwich came on fresh crispy bread. The pork was flavorful, only negative was I wish it had more meat on it. Our family had a fun visit! It is $7/person to play their board games. We tried several and had great recommendations from the Game Master. The game room is huge and has strategy games, family games, classic games, adult games, dice games, card games... every game I could think of. We also ordered food, and it was good and fast. A well-designed restaurant with a decent business model. Gaming spaces are hard to come by, especially with a wide array of available games to try out. Their game room is heavily stocked, and the food and drinks were good. One star lost because management was unpleasant to deal with after confronting us about not paying the gaming fee that nobody informed us of after we had already gamed for an hour and already paid for dinner. They snuck the fee onto our already signed and paid bill after the fact, so you can tell that this is a publicly traded company. Gaming businesses like these thrive off of building community, and nothing ruins that feeling quite like the feeling that your presence is nothing more than a transaction to them. read more

I'm a HUGE fan of this place - I've been coming since they opened. The decor/design inside is so cool, you feel like you're at a European sidewalk cafe. The staff is so knowledgable and friendly, I feel like I'm making friends every time I visit. GREAT date place! I have had several dates here and they've always gone so well, so easy to have some snacks and drinks and learn a new game together! It's so fun to see a restaurant where every table is laughing, talking and interacting with each other instead of on their phones. I'm not an anti-tech boomer or whatever, but it's super nice to see the comraderie and laughs this place inspires. The themed rooms in the basement, how cool! The Study really speaks to my inner (and outer) goth. I'm a big fan of their new menu, it's much more game-playing friendly. Prior to the refresh, the food was great, but because a lot of it was sort of fork-and-knife entrees, you almost had to decide if you wanted to eat, or play games, 'cos you couldn't really do them at the same time. The 'shareables' section of the menu is much better for snackin' and smack-talkin' while you Catan your night away. Suggestions: I would love to see a snack bar! Maybe the 'playing games' fee raises to $10, and with that you get bowls of seasoned chex mix or goldfish crackers, etc. It would certainly encourage people to keep drinking and playing. Fun atmosphere and the game vault is amazing! I was worried it would be sort of bar-scene-y but it's not and I'd feel comfortable coming with family/kids. The space is done in a way that I think kids would like (feels like you're stepping into another world!) The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the games and in guiding your group toward what to play. If your a board game nerd, it's a great opportunity to try out some of the more expensive games to to figure out if they're worth purchasing. But they have a range of games for all levels, including for kids and people who are less nerdy about board games. The icing on the cake is that the food here is low-key amazing! We expected the food to be really basic but it's actually quite unique and well done. We've gone twice and have been really impressed each time (and we're pretty choosey and eat only vegetarian). They have some interesting menu offerings and everything dish we have tried has been very good-excellent! Instead of explaining, we got an attitude from one of the host pay for a game pass that was not explained to any of us. Really fun experience for our family of 10 adults! Once we arrived, we were given some great game suggestions, which we brought downstairs into our game room. From there, we simply played games together for three hours. We were able to order food and drinks (through their Toast app) throughout the evening, which were delivered quickly. The build out is really cool, as is the game vault. Ordering is done via app from the table, which is kind of annoying as our app didn't sync with one of the guests, and we were ordering drinks that weren't on the menu so we constantly had to "order" the waitress to come over to the table. The service was slow, not great. The knowledge and help from the game expert was awesome. The food menu is very, very limited. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the flavors of the food. Cheeseburger was excellent. Fries with curry had great curry flavor. I don't prefer pork, but the pork sandwich was soft and juicy. Cookies for dessert were warm and fresh from the oven. Note there is a gaming fee, per person, to play the games ($8). Overall the night was more expensive than expected, as even a simple vodka soda was around $14. The decor resembles that of a theme park or as if multiple worlds/times where forming some kind of amalgamation to give imagination a physical form. Since it's all indoors I don't believe pets are allowed. To give a simplified feel of how it operates I'll try to break it down: -you enter, are greeted at the front, and inform if you're there for food and/games. -you're lead to your seats and there is a QR code to scan at your table -you can order food/drinks and/or pay $8 to play board games from the vault -if you opt to play a "game master" will come to your table to escort you to the game vault where they can help you decide on a game based on your party, what you are looking for, and your experience level -they teach the game to your table and when you're ready to try something new you either meet them in the game vault or wave them down They do offer private rooms on the basement that are very Instagramable, but there is a catch. You put a down payment for the room (prices vary depending on which room theme you decide) and then for every guest there is an additional down payment of 30/person and a time limit of 3 hours. The per person rate goes towards the 8 dollar fee for game play and the remainder can be used on drinks and food (cocktails are typically in the 15 range). So if you got 10 people that would be 25 for the room plus +30 = 55 before tax per person. Whitleyball you can pay I believe 65/person for 2 hours of play and 3 hours of open bar. So getting the private party room can get pretty expensive. Honestly with those rates I'd recommend just reserving a big table in the "Mead Hall" for your party. No down payment and a first come first serve. Although when I went at 8pm on a weekend there was a lot of room and tables available. If they offered a discounted rate for food and drinks or an actual food/drink package for the party room down payment it would make it more economical and agreeable in my opinion. Overall the concept and atmosphere I entirely love. Atmosphere: fantasy, whimsical, family and adult friendly Food/drinks: burger hits the spot. Recommend the mezcal margarita. Awesome place to be. The game teachers are wonderful. The food is great (try the fries or olives!). The drinks are well done. And the environment is super cool - a mix of Vegas and Disney World. Paying and organizing splitting bills is so easy because they use Toast tab. Game selection is excellent, and they have tables for 2-10 people (and more rooms downstairs that can be rented for bigger groups). So much fun & definitely underrated!! read more

I came here for the board games but I'm coming back for the food! Holy cow this food was amazing. We played a fun game and the game host came back many times to make sure we understood the rules, but the conversation kept coming back to how amazed we were with the food. From the everything-made-from-scratch burger to the pho ga popcorn with fried chicken skin and ca ri Vietnamese curry fries with Thai chiles, everything had us blown away. My favorite board game cafe Relos had shut down, but I am happy to find a new spot here. I went in a group of 3 on an early afternoon on a Sarurday and there were only a few other groups. The place was very well air conditioned which was much needed on a hot and humid place, and it was pleasantly well decorated in a themed board game way. Everything looked very clean and organized, with touchless ordering and payment system. We wanted to play board games, which was $8/person for 2 hours. I always get worried at these types of places as they can get expensive.. sometimes 1 board game takes over 2 hours to learn and play! As a board gamer, it is important the owners and employees recognize this as the limit would make it difficult to play even 1 longer game or try more than 1 game, kind of defeating the purpose. The manager here was very welcoming and we learned and played 2 new games, wingspan and photosynthesis. She knew how to play both games and walked us through the instructions. This was my first time going to a board game restaurant. They have a room set up in the back where you can play your games. There is a small wall of games set up, but then around the corner, they have a vault full of games; there are so many options. A person was also available in the vault to help us select and game for our table size. The person also offered to help explain to us how to play the game because, honestly, reading the instructions is the worst! The food was okay and a bit pricey, think bar food. The bathrooms are clean, and i liked they way they are decorated. I had a lot of fun and would certainly recommend it. The only cons were I was not given a napkin or told where they were by the stuff and wings, board games, and missing napkins dont make for a great combination. Also, I booked this activity through eventbrite since it was listed as a free activity, but after I finished ordering my food and closing out my tab I was told there would be a $7 game fee.
