Our Sunday brunch was just OK. I am not saying it was bad but just not our type. Overall was too greasy and salty! The burger was too complicated. There were more than 15 different choices. The burger arrived with tons of add-ons: salty blue cheese, pulled-pork, egg, lettuce, tomato, mozzarella cheese, we prefer cleaner taste. The roasted kale salad was also toooo greasy. I wish it could be just fresh boiled or steamed kales. Like we had at The Shed in Huntington yesterday. But again it was just our personal preference. The skirt steak was OK. The service was good. People were warm. I looked up on yelp before heading out to the place. But honestly disappointed on my kale salad:( but again many people enjoy greasy food too. read more

One of my favorite local restaurants! Whether you visit the Wantagh or Rockville Centre location, you will not be disappointed! The food is excellent. Aside from the delicious regular menu there are brunch options on the weekend and daily specials. They have a full bar and seasonal drink specials (they make a killer sangria too). Snaps is a very solid spot. And get this, they have happy hour 7 days a week, SCORE! We came in here pretty early on a Saturday with a large group and got the enjoy the happy hour deals. $5 for a martini?? Why yes, I'll have two. The Key Lime martini is so so good, it was literally like drinking a Key Lime Pie, YUM! Other than that, getting here early does have some other perks. For example from 4:00 - 6:30PM, there is a $30 three-course prix fixe menu in which you get an app, an entree and a dessert. You can't choose from all of the options on the menu but there more than enough to choose from if you do this option. I got the Wontons as a starter, the salmon as the entree, and coconut bread pudding for dessert. The wontons are great and come fried on a bed of salad greens and soba noodles. The salmon was pretty standard in terms of seasoning and preparation and comes with some sweet potato mash. The bread pudding was incredible. It looks like they have a different one every day and the one that day was Coconut Bread Pudding. SO MUCH YES. It definitely get very packed in here, especially on weekends, so I would highly recommend making a reservation and/or coming in earlier in the night. read more

I have been eating here since it was new back in 2004-2005. When NCF (No Cooking Friday) was a requirement that my son had to follow with me because he was still in school. I didn't know anything about Yelp if it existed. But there was no place around that served the quality & variety of gourmet food that Snaps did. Fast forward to now 2018. It seems to gained immense popularity since eating out became a popular US Sport. I'm thinking it might be a new Olympic event soon. Any who, Snaps is everything it used to be and that's a good thing. Out to dinner with some friends & we shared our appetizer dishes. Lobster Mac & Cheese, Braised Short Rib Quesadilla, Oxtail & Foie Gras Ravioli, Escargot in Puff Pastry. Followed up with some entrees of Hangar Steak & Bacon Cheeseburger with Parmesan Truffle Fries. Dessert for The Royal Couple Blondie Sundae & Creme Brûlée. For my dessert I had Ribs in a Pineapple Hoisin Soy Sauce. Because I'm different like that. LOL Everything was delicious, my only complaint would be the food wasn't as hot as I like it. All of my food was kind of tepid. But the flavor was all there so the 5 stars stand. And our server John was friendly, fun & patient. He checked on us & even helped Unicorn design her burger. Great laughs were shared. Paddington ranted some about work & such, which I missed and we all enjoyed the food & drinks. Still a great spot. Very good food. it tends to have a real gastronomic flare . They have different daily specials for example, save a few dollars on a hamburger without the french fries on Thursdays, things like that. A few interesting and different dishes, but probably what stands out most is just the extra effort they put into certain things like the truffle oil and truffle salt on the french fries. I think what keeps me from giving it five stars is occasionally I get a waiter, who just seems to be phoning it in And does not really want to be bothering, and that pisses me off It is one of those places that could very often be an eight, but once in a while, the poor service drops it down to a five or six and I just hit that kind of stuff read more

Service was bad ordered a glass of red wine got an 1/8 of a glass. Told waitress she said oh the bar tender was new. She comes back with 2 drops more of wine. We all had burgers and fries. All the fries were cold she took them back then forgot to bring us new ones. I asked for a medium rare burger it was well done. The burgers and buns portions were small. Came here and was told initially I could wait at the bar to try to snatch a bar table as the next reservation for 2 was 2.5 hours away. I then was offered a table given that we would be done within an hour since they had reservations so we agreed and were able to be seated right away. For drinks, my husband ordered a blue moon and I had the South Beach. The South Beach tasted like I was on a tropical island. It hit the spot. We started with the lobster mac and cheese. It was creamy and baked to perfection. You can tell the lobster wasn't immitation! For dinner I ordered the surf and turf burger and my husband ordered the flat liner. The burgers were ginormous! Good luck fitting it in your mouth. Mine was a basic "snaps" burger topped with lobster salad. I would have liked mine more rare but it was still excellent. It was a little messy when you cut it in half. His was even more awesome than mine. His burger was sandwiched in between 2 grilled cheeses! They were served with parmesan truffle fries and they were addictive. The one downfall is one of my dining out pet peeves: close tables where you feel like you are on a double date with the tables next to you. I'll still be back! Disappointed We went for a friends birthday dinner. We ordered a ton of cocktails. We ordered a ton of appetizers. We were a party of 4. They had a duck special. I ordered the duck. It was very busy and it was Friday the 13th!! So it would be a five star but it was a rough start! Took over 5 minutes for a drink order and longer for a drink. When you are dining with grandpa who "wants his drink and wants it now" - yup- just breathe Then he gets it and it's all good. The food... The specials included lobster guacamole. I wasn't sure what that was but the name intrigued me. A sizable layer of lobster dip with a tangy guacamole layered on top. It was served with lightly salted and greased chips. Not a tray of chips. Visually appealing with taste to match. Great surprise to everyone at the table that was subject to my order. ;) My family ordered wine and I chose a no booze option which was loaded with sugar. Never again! I'll stick with water and consume the very well thought and plated food! Burgers - yes it's break all rules - order medium please no more- quality meat place! My uncles beef Wellington from what I was told was second best to the filet at a $$$$ restaurant. The burger! Thursday might be the day to go back and try a $5 special. Yummm! I came across Snaps while I was looking for a new to me spot with a yummy/unique looking menu. I made sure to make a reservation early in the week just Incase and we had a delish meal. Overall I don't think we would go back unless we were in the area. But if you live nearby it's a great spot! Especially for a burger. Ambiance- it's not a huge place but the tables are close together so they can fit a good amount of people. It's cozy inside! Food- The menu has so many delicious things it was hard to choose. My fiancé ordered the lobster Mac n cheese to start and the brisket burger for his meal. The burger and fries were awesome! The Mac n cheese was very good BUT it wasn't hot, just warm, which we both agreed took away from it. I ordered from the prix fix menu- chicken wonton, salmon, and cheesecake. The wontons were a little salty but SO tasty. The salmon wasn't crazy flavorful but it was cooked perfectly! And the cheesecake was sooo creamy MMMM! Service- We made a reservation for 6pm on a Saturday so we could try the prix fix menu but we got there early so we sat at the bar for a drink and wound up just ordering food there because the bartender was so sweet! Pleased to report that Snaps continues to be a solid spot for great New American fare. Wifey & I enjoyed a great meal here this past weekend along with her parents. As part of LI Restaurant Week, they offered up some really great options at a very reasonable price. I was also pleased to see that they do a similar prix fixe all the time as I felt it was a really good value. Do not miss the crispy kale salad, one of the best I've had in a long time. Also kudos to Snaps for accommodating my dietary needs no questions asked - burger still nicely put together despite my request for no bun, fries swapped out for their delicious brussels sprouts no questions asked & no upcharge. Food was mediocre and not priced appropriately for portion. Went during happy hour. Ordered 3 martinis at $5.99 each and you could tell that they were watered down. The first drink came out quickly. The next two drinks the waitress "forgot" until we asked her and another waitress again. I ordered the happy hour burger which they forgot to put the bacon. But they didn't forget to charge me $1 extra for onions on my burger and they even charged me $1 extra when I asked for extra sauce on my daughters dish. Not coming back to a restaurant that nitpicks and serves mediocre food. read more
