I liked the sample of the chocolates, that's why we bought a bag. The reason for 3 stars is because when I opened the bag, there were only 4 pieces of candy. This was shocking after paying $16 for a bag, I looked online and now it's $18. We work hard for our money, but spending that much on 4 pieces of candy, is not worth it. read more

This was some great tasting chocolate!!! I opened the bag of Maple Almond Toffee and good god!!!! I was given two bags as a gift and I messed up and shared one bag with my coworker's and I had to fight them away from me as they were trying to get to my second bag!!!! Y'all on to something!!! My husband bought me these box of chocolates for Valentine's Day along with perfume, flowers, card, etc. The typical mushy Valentine's Day stuff. Since he was making me dinner that night, I didn't really get to tap into these chocolates until we left for Portland the next day, for our weekend get-away trip. I had some on the plane, some in our hotel and I was really impressed with the different, unique flavors. Some are them were too decadent for me, but I think that's still good for others who like decadence. I was really impressed with the cucumber melon one, and the white chocolate caramel, those really spoke to me. I think it's important to have unique flavors for different types of people, because at the end of the day, most people may see that a box of chocolates aren't that different than the ones you buy at CVS, but if you keep your flavors interesting, you'll get the chocolate connoisseurs who can appreciate the variety, so kudos to this company for doing exactly that. read more

We met Johna during a Beer and Chocolate Pairing event at Stone Brewing Escondido a couple of years back... When our daughter was graduating HS we decided as a "Thank you for coming / for your support" gift for guests at her Grad party and for coaches and friends that had been especially influential, we wanted to do something a step up from a box of chocolate from a chocolatier that is well known but run of the mill and available anywhere... I remembered Johna and looked her up. With 3-weeks notice she provided us with an excellent assortment of handmade chocolates that we had out for our guests and repackaged as the aforementioned thank you gifts. So Rich Chocolates was at Alesmith Brewery for a special chocolate and beer pairing event. The ladies were walking around giving samples of some chocolate barks, but I went in for the kill and got the chocolate and beer pairing for $8.50. The pairing included three tasters and three gourmet, hand made, chocolates. So Rich is working with local breweries to create beer and chocolate parings, so you can find them at your local brewery. It's a nice change of pace instead of the usual food and beer pairings that can sometimes be too heavy. The first paring didn't stand out. Don't get me wrong, the chocolate was great, but It's been a week and I can't recall anything about it other than the chocolate was smooth and delicious. The second pairing, was perfect. I can really see what So Rich is doing here! The maple caramel was paired up perfectly with the beer. The maple flavor was not overpowering and the burbon flavors worked perfectly with the beer. I could have eaten this combo over and over. Fantastic! The third pairing was a stout beer and a PB nougat-y filled ghost chilli chocolate. There was too much going on here for me. The ghost chili was really good with the chocolate, but the PB was a little heavy tasting. The ghost chili wasn't too spicy and gave the chocolate just a little bit of a lift. read more

The owner went to the San Diego fair to present to a bunch of 3-10 year olds. The lady talked at a level that my high school students might have understood. Entrepreneurship, labor laws and geographical information goes was way to advanced concepts for most of these kids. I understand the presentation was a marketing opportunity with the 'tasting' being the lure to hear about your company. Instead it was a brag fest of how proud she was of herself and how chocolate was responsible for workers' rights. Anyways - she passed out little samples of chocolates and had the kids hold on to them - anytime the kids went to smell them she'd snap at them not to eat them until she said - it was so cringe-y it was kind of funny. Serious Michael-Scott style awkward, I should have looked around for hidden cameras. She missed a kid as she was one-man-showing this and he literally started crying. Of course there wasn't enough to go around. The tasting part was good until the last chocolate (which was melted from the kids holding it so long)... Without warning the kids started freaking out - apparently it was GHOST PEPPER AND CHILI CHOCOLATE!!! These are young kids!!! Thank God there were just screaming kids and no allergic reactions that I witnessed. My kid, who loves spicy, scraped off his tongue with his hands in a panic because it was so hot - we left as quick as we could. Did I mention she was in super short shorts - denim shredded and so short the pockets were hanging out? Know your audience. This was a K-6 Creative Youth area. Anyways, 3 stars because I imagine she meant well and the parents who did get chocolate samples did seem to like the product. read more

I met them at the international beer festival at the del.mar fair. I tried their maple island truffle toffee and it was amazing. I was going to buy the bag and I asked if they gave a military discount, the owner said it was on the house and said thx u for your service. She totally made me cry. Hubby and I are super thankful. Johna was extremely helpful and created the perfect chocolate pairings for our beer selections. My favorite was the cucumber melon! So delicious! Excellent customer service. And an excellent product. I found the So Rich chocolate stand at the del mar fair during the international brew fest. I loved the dark chocolate toffee and decided to buy a bag. I didn't look at the bag to verify that the lady grabbed the correct product that I wanted. When I got home and realized that she gave me the wrong one I contacted the owner immediately. She was so friendly and drove all the way down to my house from vista just to drop off the correct chocolate I wanted. And she threw in an extra bag due to the mistake.
