If you're looking for some solid Mexican food at Mohegan Sun, check out SolToro! A couple things to keep in mind: I would highly recommend making a reservation, especially on a weekend night. I went on a Sunday for dinner (with a reservation) and was seated in less than 10 minutes. Others who came in around the same time (without a reservation) were being told the wait was an hour and a half. The vibe is pretty cool and the place itself is well decorated. I would say the food is good, but honestly not as good as I had expected (based on what others had told me). I ordered the pork belly tacos and enjoyed them, though I wish they had the crunchy glaze on them like Bar Taco does. The rice and beans were pretty decent. I didn't order guacamole, but if you do they make it fresh for you table side. For a drink I got the signature margarita, which was very good. I found the prices comparable to other similar Mexican restaurants. The service was also very good and I thought pretty quick considering how busy it was at the time. I've been here twice in the past 2 months for Taco Tuesday. I noticed that they have a rewards program where you get stamped for each time you dine in on a Tuesday or Wednesday. After 6 stamps, you receive a free entree. I asked for stamps from yesterday and for when I dined with them on October 3rd given I have a picture of the receipt. My other proof is that I checked in here also. Our waitress said she had to ask her manager in which he said no, so I asked to speak to him. (Side note: Our waitress was lovely.) He said he couldn't do it regardless of the proof I had gone. Also, he gave us 2 cards instead of 3 although my father had also dined with us but had stepped out. I'm shocked he would not give us the 2 stamps...not sure what the big deal was. Seems difficult to have 6 meals there on a Tuesday or Wednesday to get a free entree but it does give some incentive. As a Yelp Elite and dining at so many restaurants I find this to be TERRIBLE customer service and because of this my family and I will no longer dine at Soltoro. read more

We ordered chicken taquitos and they were tasty and crunchy. Plus they came with a ton of guac. Also ordered pork belly tacos. Tacos were mid, I wish the pork belly had a crunch. The avocado crema didn't have a taste. The rice and beans were also lack luster. The rice was ok and the beans tasted weird. Also ordered Paloma's that had mezcal, they're good if you like mezcal. The best part of my meal was my coconut margarita drink! My life partner had a burrito, which was OK however, very little chicken. I had the taco salad and was really looking forward to it. Needed a special accommodation because I cannot have tortilla chips and they were so great at making it work. They were able to give me a plate of peppers and carrots to pair with the tableside guac we ordered which was so great! Along with table side guacamole I got the shrimp fajitas that were delicious. I have never had rude service in my life. We had a large table with a prefix menu for a friend's birthday. First red flag was the hostess stand. My girlfriend who never stands still was told she should to sit while we wait for the table so she doesn't fall over, which was odd, rude, judgy and nothing a hostess should ever say, but we were just trying to ignore one person. Unfortunately, she continued to single out our table. As she sat us, she proceeded to tell us to not be loud as there are other tables near us. We were not being loud, and everyone had smiles on until that comment. As we sat down, our waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink. Most of the table wanted the same drink, she offered us to have a pitcher. The hostess continued to watch and listen since the next thing I saw was the manager telling my friend that I would not be able to be served at the restaurant because I slurred my speech. The hostess was the one who told him. For someone who was not drunk but has a speech impediment, I find this extremely rude and hurtful. I was shocked that they even thought we would stay. There was no changing the manager's mind. As we left without any food or drink, friends spoke with wait staff who agreed their manager is a piece of work. As a person who has worked in restaurants, you don't treat your guests like this. We tipped the waitress as it's not her fault the manager and hostess stand doesn't support the wait staff appropriately. read more

This is a very good Mexican restaurant, it is a little pricey with small portions but that's what you would expect in Mohegan. We both got the Cochinita de pibil tacos with rice and beans. They were very good, I just prefer my beans made from pinto and not black beans. Chips and salsa were great. My husband and I came here for drinks and chips after dinner elsewhere and a comedy show. As someone who LOVES tequila, a good tequila bar and restaurant sounded perfect! We enjoyed a wonderful tequila flight and signature margaritas with their chips, salsa, and queso appetizer. The food and drink were good, but the bartenders took forever to check on us. There weren't many people at the bar, but they kept walking the opposite way around so that I couldn't really call for them either. We didn't have a reservation, but stopped in just after 4 on a Saturday and got a table right away. The place filled up quickly after that. I didn't like that we were seated right next to the server's station where they enter in the orders. I felt like someone was behind me the whole time, and I could hear their conversations. But the place is lively and the staff was very friendly. We ordered the fresh tableside guacamole. It came over quickly and is absolutely delicious! The chips were a bit greasy and a few on top of the bucket were a bit stale. My husband claimed he doesn't like guacamole, but he ate a good portion of this. Our drinks were very tasty, although the server didn't often return for refills. Luckily, she left a carafe of ice water on the table. My husband orders a chimichanga and asks for shrimp, which used to be on the menu, but isn't. The server obliged. He finished the whole thing. I got a quesadilla with ground beef. It was stuffed and cheesy. One of the best I've ever had. The meat was very flavorful. They were so fully stuffed I couldn't finish them. The manager came over to check on us a few times. Very nice restaurant located inside Mohegan Sun! Great and diverse menu with solid drink options. My wife and I had their sangria on our last trip and it was very good! Don't fill up on the free chips and salsa, as the meals are more than adequate and you need to save room for their tasty desserts! It was ok. Too expensive, though I realize it's at the casino, so wasn't surprised. What bothered me was that my reservation was for a high top in the bar area for 3 people. Instead they took us to the back of the restaurant, where the tables are on top of each other and it's super noisy. Another place i won't go to again. At the Mohegan Sun Casino celebrating a friend of mine's bachelor party and after a few hours of drinking we needed to refuel... before we continued to drink some more! Lol. One of the groomsmen made a reservation for all of here so here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: The bachelor, myself along with another friend of ours went straight to the bar to get the man of the hour some tequila shots. Unfortunately, the bartender made the judgement call and cut our friend off (not the bachelor). Lol. Now, most people would be upset in this situation, but I think it was a good call. Our buddy probably showed CLEAR signs of intoxication so he needed to chill a bit, but boy did he go on and on about it while we were at the restaurant. Anyway, the restaurant is pretty wide open with various walls and half-walls separating certain areas. The decor is beautiful and quite upscale. The lighting is a bit low, but not too bad. It certainly just gives that elegant feel. Service: Maggie took excellent care of us, especially dealing with our friend that was cut-off. Lol, she's probably used to it given the environment and it just made things even more entertaining. She was fast and efficient even with all of the chaos of a Saturday night rush. Food: I went with a hearty, meaty meal of filet mignon tips. They were basically skewers of filet mignon cuts, with grilled vegetables served with rice and a verde sauce. They were pretty okay and hit the spot! Now it was time to continue to party! Value: $22.00 for my skewers and I think that's actually decent for casino food! Drinks are pricey though, so use your own judgement when it comes to drinking in a casino if you know what I mean. My "Katie" drink (2 bartenders were having a competition with original drinks and whoever got the most orders of theirs won something) was $15.00. Sheesh. We're approaching NYC drink prices now! Just a really awesome solid spot, always wanted to try here too! Table chip buckets are GREAT, thin light and crispy chips (salty) hot out of the fryer for all so no worries sharing. We visited Mohegan sun Saturday for a day trip with all intentions of heading to Margaritaville... sadly, we learned it closed at the end of last month!! Super sad about this but we headed to SolToro for some Mexican food. This used to be a different Mexican restaurant also but I think this was a step up in my opinion! A couple of flaws at this restaurant for me though, even though the food was pretty delicious. First off, it took about 10-15 minutes for our waitress, Melissa, to even approach our table. People were sat after us who were already greeted. When she finally came over, she had dirty dishes in her hand from another table. Just a turn off for me. She took our drink order and appetizer order and the table side guacamole we ordered came before the drinks did. The table side guacamole was very small - we ordered the portion for 2 people and it was a tiny, one avocado she mashed up for us, with a regular spoon. A little strange for me. Our dinner order came and this was definitely the best part of the experience. I had chicken tacos and my husband had fish tacos. Both were very delicious! I ordered a side of sour cream (which they charged for) but the tacos definitely needed it. All in all, I would definitely go back because the entrees were great but I would skip the guacamole and hopefully have a better overall experience with better service. read more

We came in an hour early bc I was experiencing dizziness due to not eating all day. At first the hostess told us she couldn't get us in earlier but I waited and asked the Manager if we could be seated earlier.. He immediately told the hostess to get me some chips/salsa and water. I was so appreciative of his kindness. For that reason alone, I'd go back. We ended up being seated in about 5 mins later thanks to his graciousness. My husband and I ordered the fajitas and asked for a chicken /steak combo which is not on the menu as a combo but they accommodated us w/ no problem, however, they did charge us extra for making it a combo. I would say that is my only issue with the menu. They should have that option as every Mexican restaurant I've been to always has that option at no up charge or a very small up charge. What they did was charge us for the steak fajita meals $32 and $37 and added $5.00 per person to make it half steak and half chicken. They should've charged us $30 each for chicken fajita meals and then $5.00 each for the steak. So we got robbed a bit. But the food was very good. The steak I'd recommend getting is the cheaper one - The strip steak. It's just as good if not better than the filet. Very soft and tasty. The chicken was outstanding also. The fixings that come w/the fajitas were plentiful and I added pickled jalapeño which was no charge. One thing I did send back was the refried beans. They looked putrid. Probably old and sitting all day. Asked for xtra rice instead. Our reservation was late so be prepared when you take a late reservation for getting some old garnishings. The fajita wraps we weren't crazy about. They were grilled so they had a charred taste. Never had them that way. Usually they are just warmed. Not bad but not great and they gave us plenty of them. All in all the food was very good, the waiter was very nice and personable, and the Manager was a gem. The ambiance is pretty blah. Not much to see. I'll be back to try more stuff. read more
