BRIGHT OBNOXIOUS wine refrigerator in a dark restaurant.

Love the jazz band. Love the food. Love the ambience. Love the staff. BUT THIS BRIGHT REFRIGERATOR IS SO OBNOXIOUS. Please either dim the light inside or hang a curtain maybe.

Brunch review: As expected, you aren't seated till most of your party gets there, but there wasn't a wait once we were both there. The ambience does give dinner/supper club even though it's brunch. There's no natural light in the building. The food was soooo good though. Shrimp and grit 10/10. It is a lighter dish though so if you're starving you might need something else Shrimp cocktail- tasty, but still Shrimp cocktail. Not worth the price for 4 Shrimp Ham and cheese scramble- 10/10. Filling and you get a little bit of everything. Protein, starch, and greens Espresso martini- 10/10 if you're not a creamy coffee person. You def taste the expresso White sangria - good, but red was better. I'd recommend sampling both and then decide. Service: the service was great! Even though I sampled the sangria I still made the wrong choice, but our waiter was more than willing to switch it for me. Can't wait to go back for dinner!!! I had a reservation at 1:30 and the music was a little loud

Heard about Somerville but never made it. Better late than never. And after my visit, I wished I had gone sooner. I don't remember what night it was however, it was close by and a friend and I had went elsewhere and was underwhelmed. A quick search in the area landed us at Somerville. I parked in front on Slauson. Free. I heard there's a lot in the back but I don't know any more details than that. I just know that I don't like parking on a main drag because of the potential for accidents - but when you're in LA - you take what you can get. It was later when I overheard someone mentioning the lot in back. Service was excellent. From the server, to the chef to the manager - all came out checking on us and even just chatting. All this and live jazz. Not complaining one bit. It was one of those experiences where you feel like you're in someone's home and they're just making you feel like their guest. As for the food ... see pics. I don't have the words except to say, it was perfect. I wouldn't change a thing and I'd order the exact same thing again on the next visit. Food was served as requested and came out timed like courses. I don't know what's in the bread but if it's crack, it needs to be legalized. Anyway, love places like this. Not many have the kind of vibe you get when all cylinders are firing along to the beat of the live jazz. You can put money down that I'll be back again.

Somerville is pretty much what you'd expect from a buzzy, New American, restaurant. Boasting a dark and moody vibe, there's certainly a curated atmosphere present here, complete with a talented band. I will say that the live music (while lovely) was quite loud. Fortunately, there were breaks in the set because I couldn't carry on a conversation otherwise. The service, however, was fantastic. I was particularly impressed by our server, Kendall. On to the food. I started with The D.W. cocktail which was fabulous. Sweet, but with a lovely depth and complexity to it. For apps, we had the Parker house rolls and the carrots. If I were coming back again, I'd skip the former and reorder the latter. I've scarcely met a piece of bread that I didn't like, but these were just fine. I did appreciate the housemade truffle butter though. The carrots, on the other hand, were lovely; sweet and perfectly tender. For my main course, I got the short rib paccheri pasta which was tasty. It did come with a mound of Parmesan on top and while I'd have loved to choose my own level of cheese, it was solid. Had a bite of the chicken too and it was fine but nothing too special. Forgot that we had the Mac & cheese also; good but not a standout. Overall, a solid meal and experience.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time! Service 10! Not only did our server recommend food she also recommended places we could go after. The live band was amazing. Such a great vibe. Pictures turned out great. Drinks 10/10. I wish I lived in LA I would be a regular. Can't wait to come back and recreate this experience I truly loved it so much

I went back Feb 2026 to celebrate a friend's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, from beginning to end. We arrived a little early and waited at the bar. I believe I had the Dunbar, which has Prosecco and Hennessy...loved it! Once seated, everything that hit the table was excellent! Two of us had the kale salad and caviar slides and loved them! It was the perfect amount of food. One person had the chicken and enjoyed it and the sides. The other two had the Salmon, which was a delight with a curry sauce. Now I have to bring my husband back so we can try it together. Service was friendly and attentive and the ambiance remains top tier! They charge a $10 per person plate fee if you bring your own cake. I thought that was a bit excessive so we opted to provide the bday person with a slice. They will hold it for you and provide a candle. It took me awhile to make it back, but I'm glad I did and really enjoyed the experience.

The food was good ! I have noo complaints. I had the lobster mac & cheese and brussel sprouts. My sister had the short ribs when sampling, it was soo good, tender, & tasty. I enjoyed three different cocktails ( forgot names) but all very good! The service was good our waiter was nice and very familiar with the menu. I really enjoyed the ambiance stepping in the restaurant you truly forgot where you are. I loved the live band. I would def go back !

Forget Me Not, Sweet Tone and Golden Age - Cheers!

Believe the hype and come here! Owners Issa Rae, Yonnie Hagos and Ajay Relan intentionally created an elegant vibe in View Park-Windsor Hills that celebrates the rich history of South Central LA. Upon entering, guests are transported to a grand speakeasy with a high wooden ceiling, velvet booths, vintage chandeliers and lighting and art deco designs. The live jazz band is the focal point and sets the mood every night. Note that they don't seat parties until everyone is there. They should mention this detail in the reservation reminders. One of our friends out of a party of 5 was running a little behind and we had to wait outside until she came. My party got seated next to the band so it was a bit loud, but we appreciated the music and the view of the beautiful bar. We were still able to chat. We enjoyed our drinks and most of the dishes we ordered. The Golden Age is their twist on the Old Fashioned, the Sweet Tone was like a raspberry tequila martini and Forget Me Not was a nice balance of Ilegal Mezcal, Chareau, pepper honey and Glenfiddich 12 Scotch. Fried Chicken & Caviar Sliders ($27 for 2) the Buttermilk-brined chicken were decent, juicy pieces but didn't taste much of the caviar in the Petrossian creme fraiche. Maybe that's why the chef recommends adding 4 grams of caviar for an extra $45! However, we got the Baked Mac n Cheese ($17) and added Maine lobster for an extra $17 and thought that was worth it. The Mac n cheese was rich and crispy on top and the lobster elevated the dish nicely. The Brussel Sprouts ($16) were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Not greasy at all and the crispy rice added a good texture. But the Winning dish was the Collard Green Lasagna ($34)! It doesn't look that impressive on the surface but when you cut into it, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the marrying of flavors of the greens, bechamel, ricotta, sun dried tomatoes, parmesan and mozzarella layered in al dente pasta. We finished our meal by sharing a fudge brownie topped with strawberries and ice cream. The fudge was rich and gooey. The strawberries and ice cream balanced out each bite. There were a couple of mishaps with service, but they made up for it in a special way. I would definitely return to try more dishes and enjoy the live jazz and ambience. Street parking may be difficult in the area. Valet is $20.

I finally made it and I am really glad I did. Not a dinner night just popped in for a drink and munched on Truffle Fries. Had a small complaint and the manager offered to remake but again the complaint was small so we kept the fries. He then bought a second round for us!!! Great Job! I will return. Joseph was a great at the bar too!!! Issa great job from the hostess to the manager!!!

Lasagna, salmon (okay), truffle fries (good)

I really wanted to love this place, but the three stars are for the cocktails, rolls, and ambiance only. The restaurant is stunning and I really appreciated the live music and yummy cocktails. Unfortunately, my party was seated in the corner with our backs to the rest of the restaurant, so we couldn't fully enjoy the atmosphere as we were facing a wall. As for the food, the chicken sliders were good, but probably not something I'd say are worth the price. The collard green lasagna was raved about online so my friend and I gave it a try; this was probably our least favorite item. I'd give this a 5 out of 10. Overall, I'd come back, but only for live music and cocktails.

I've been wanting to try out Somerville and support for a minute so my friends and I made a reservation for brunch. We were seated pretty fast at a table not too far away from the band. Being that it was Sunday, they had a jazz band performing live. The vibes were upscale, but still a bit cozy in a sense. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful! My friends and I all ordered our own drinks which were pretty good. For my order, I got biscuits to share as well as the shrimp and grits. My friend got an omelette and my other friend got the Chinese chicken salad. Overall, the shrimp and grits were pretty good, I'd say a 7/10. Both my friends did also enjoy their meals as well. Oddly enough, the biscuits were the absolute highlight of the brunch! They were extremely fresh, fluffy and delicious! Our experience at the restaurant was pretty nice. I personally feel like the pricing is a bit high. If I'm paying high prices, I do expect excellent food and I just didn't feel like the food was as good as it could've been personally. Overall, I had a wonderful experience the restaurant and I definitely would come back to try out their dinner menu. :)

I mean as soon as you get there you are greeted by the most friendliest hospitality. The door opens and you enter a room with such a beautiful table arrangement, intimate lighting, decor that makes you feel you just walked into a speakeasy. i simply adore it, being located in south central is a plus. Tiffany our waitress we loved her !! Could not leave w/o giving her a New Year hug and appreciated her kindness and taking such good care of us. Drinks and food came with good timing. Amazing delectable cocktails. Food we ordered all a 100/10!! Flavors of all kinds exploding in your taste buds with every bite. Choice of sauces / seasonings paired perfectly. Very well prepared, a round of applause to the chef!! Presentation also very beautifully layed out. Thank you Somerville for our first time experience and to bring in the New Year as well as my 40th trip around the sun.

    Can you wear sneakers?

Good question! With Men ! You already know the suit and slacks and SNEAKERS. The style trend Now. If I was in that style I would do it! 😉 Have fun!

Is it kid friendly for older kids (17+)?

It's considered a supper club so I wouldn't bring anyone under 21. Try calling . It's hard to get through at times.

What is the parking situation here?

There's free parking behind the restaurant but may be limited. They also have valet in the front.

Do they accept cash, silly question but I'm curious?

    Yes, cash and credit cards!

What days/times does the band perform?

Every evening they are open starting at 7pm

    Is it kid-friendly?

It's a more mature environment imo.

    Do you need reservations?

Not need but highly recommended reserving. Tables can be reserved on open table.. A book in advance. I booked in Dec for March

    Are there gluten free options?

    Salad, brussel sprouts!

Can anything be made vegan friendly on the dinner menu?

No, unfortunately the chef doesn't change anything on the menu.

How much does the food cost?

    $15-40

    Do you absolutely need reservations?

You definitely need reservations to dine at a table, they are booked until April 2025. If you want to get a drink at the bar you still have to wait in line and it's not a guarantee you'll be let in, mainly because there are a lot of people waiting… Read more

It was a quiet semi-divey atmosphere with a foosball table and a couple of dart boards on the dark painted walls plus a few TVs. There were only a few people there when we arrived around 6 PM. We sat at a high table by the window and the kind young bartender took our drink and food orders. We had arrived in time for happy hour, so we chose the charcuterie board and two orders of the salmon sliders, both reasonably priced at $9.50 each. The sliders were spicy and delicious. The charcuterie board was not as impressive. It didn't seem particularly fresh; the grapes especially were a bit wrinkly and sad. We could also have done with a few more pieces of toast to go with the pieces of smoked Gouda and Brie, and the couple slices of salami and prosciutto. There were also a few dates and dried apricots on the board. Well, whatta ya want for $9.50 in L.A., I guess... From the outside, you'd probably drive right past George Petrelli's. It doesn't scream "legendary steakhouse," and that's part of its charm. Once you walk through the doors, you're transported into an old-school steakhouse that's stayed true to itself for decades. No gimmicks. No trendy décor. Just a warm dining room, a welcoming bar, familiar faces, and consistently outstanding food. I've been here for birthdays, family dinners, celebrations, and date nights, and one thing has never changed: The food is consistently phenomenal. If it's your first visit, stop overthinking the menu and order the filet mignon dinner. It comes with your choice of soup, salad, potato, fresh vegetables, and the filet. I always go with the French onion soup. Rich, savory, topped with perfectly melted cheese--it's the perfect way to start the meal. The salad deserves a mention too. Fresh greens, beets (which I love), and a light balsamic dressing. Simple, but incredibly well done. Then comes the filet. Hands down one of the most tender filets I've ever had. I ordered mine medium-rare, and it was cooked perfectly. It cuts like butter, stays juicy, and the seasoning is spot on. It's the kind of steak that reminds you why classic steakhouses still exist. If you're hungry, order the double filet. For around $60-70, you get soup, salad, vegetables, your choice of potato, and two generous filets. Considering what many steakhouses charge today, it's one of the best values you'll find. The vegetables--carrots, zucchini, and onions--are cooked perfectly, and whether you choose the mashed potatoes or baked potato, you really can't go wrong. I've even brought family here. When my brother came into town and asked where I wanted dinner, I picked George Petrelli's without hesitation. He ordered the prime rib while I stayed loyal to the filet, and we both left impressed. I've honestly never had a disappointing meal here. My biggest regret? I never take enough food pictures. Every visit, I end up putting my phone away because I'm too busy enjoying the company, conversation, atmosphere, and food. That's probably the biggest compliments I can give any restaurant. The atmosphere is another reason I keep coming back. It's calm, quiet, and you can actually hear the people you're dining with. It feels like the kind of steakhouse where people have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries for generations. I also love sitting near the bar. Juan, the bartender, is one of the biggest reasons why. He's professional, friendly, and genuinely cares about taking care of guests. One night they ran out of ginger beer for my usual drink, so instead of saying no, he made me something similar--and absolutely nailed it. Those little moments are what great hospitality is all about. The bussers and the rest of the staff have always been attentive and welcoming. The only consistent downside has been one older tall blonde waitress. Every time she's been our server, the experience has felt noticeably different. During our latest visit she forgot to put in my drink order, rarely checked on us, and we eventually had to flag her down just to get the check. What makes her stand out, is that everyone else--from Juan to the bussers and other servers--creates such a warm atmosphere. Her service consistently feels rushed and detached, and it changes the mood in an otherwise wonderful dining experience. Thankfully, it hasn't been enough to keep me from coming back. One thing I've never understood is why this place doesn't get more recognition. I've eaten at restaurants with much higher Yelp ratings that served far worse food. Yes, George Petrelli's costs more than places like BJ's or Sizzler, but it's also offering an experience those restaurants aren't trying to provide. I'd even choose it over Lucille's when I want a quieter dinner and a truly memorable steak. This isn't a restaurant you visit because it's trendy. It's a restaurant you visit because it consistently delivers. I write reviews to help people spend their money wisely. If you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, date night, or simply want one of the best filet mignons around, save your money and come here instead. I think you'll understand why I keep coming back.

We sat at the bar on a Friday night. The bartender (Juan?) Is so uptight and unfriendly! He treats…read morethe servers like crap too. The woman we spoke to couldn't be bothered about our experience, she couldn't care less when we spoke with her. Everything here is astronomically priced and not good.
