Been here about 3x and everytrime we go, the drive through worker FAILS to get our order correctly. They always mess up our order, I ask for NO ICE and my drink comes with 3/4 of ice! The food is a hit or miss . My kids like the mozzarella sticks. We stop here just for a little snack before the road. ALSO, we end up just ordering through the drive through because when we pull up to the screens, we sit there and no one comes out nor do they get on the MIC to take our orders. Went to sonic in tehachapi CA to get a strawberry slushy and a strawberry limeade. The cashiers name,Madison,seemed very nice at first we pulled up to the window and paid then she handed me the strawberry slushy I ordered and when she handed me the second drink it was supposed to be a strawberry limeade but it was another strawberry slushy. I kindly told her it was supposed to be a limeade she then started to get an attitude with me and said well them im gonna have to recharge you because I charger you for another slushy which is a dollar more I said that there was no need to recharge me that I don't care about the extra dollar as we waited for her to make the other drink I was supposed to get she was throwing things around while making the strawberry limeade and when she went to give it to us it barely had any ice in it and she rudely asked for the mistake drink she made back which I thought was weird since that's the one I did pay for and she charged me more than I was supposed to be charged. I sure hope Madison has a better day because this experience was very disappointing to me. I was shocked to see her sporting ear buds while working, perhaps this was why she didn't hear my correct order. The area looked very dirty and chaotic. The ONE thing Sonic is good for is their slushie drinks... ice, juice it's not rocket science and it's great on a hot summer day. So it's Sunday in July and it's hot so... a cranberry limeade sounds delicious! I check YELP ... Sonic is open until 9pm on Sunday... it's 8:30 ... no problem. I pull up at 8:35; lights are off but I see employees inside... I also see the trash is already taken out, the drive-thru lights are still on and several cars are pulling out. I go to Drive-thru and ask if they're open or closed ... no response. If you advertise that you're open till 9pm then you take orders till 8:59. THAT is the nature of fast food. I understand everyone likes to go home asap but DO YOUR JOB OR PACK UP. FYI, Frosty King is open till 9:30, makes GREAT cold treats, better prices, better service so ... good luck Sonic. read more

Food is good, at least everything I've gotten there. Every worker I've been helped by was friendly. Service does take a while sometimes but only because they're chronically understaffed as far as I can tell. Don't show up a half hour earlier than they close or you won't get any food lol. read more

Hi I love going to Sonic but the one out here in Tehachapi is awful !!! . I recently moved out here and thought I would go to my favorite fast food drive in, god was I wrong . The food was horrendous , it tasted like something straight of of the garbage and the staff there was horrible. I went through the drive through and no one took my order, I waited a good 5 plus minutes or so for no response. I also saw other costumers were leaving the line because of the wait time . I finally had enough and decided to pull into a stall and order. the man who took my order had a major attitude towards me i was appalled . When my food finally came out to my vehicle it was cold as hell !! . My son received a gift card at Christmas for this place. I don't eat here or either do my friends due to many issues. My son begged me to let him use the card. I am giving 3 stars because the girl working was very nice, never had that before and my son said it was good. He is 13 and will eat anything. He wanted a crispy chicken sandwich and they were out of crispy chicken and chicken strips. He decided on grilled chicken sandwich and tater tots, grape slushy with nerds. I've come to the sonic drive-through around four times. It has been a good experience. The employees are courteous, helpful fast and the food is great. I love the burgers. I love the fries I love the onion rings they're variety of shakes, and slush's are great. I've had the grilled cheese and it's good, the tater tots are great. Their breakfast burritos are good. After a longer than expected wait in the drive-thru (we were the only car) on 6/23/19 we were served this dried-out hot dog. The server was impolite. I am used to slow service here but this should not have been served. Also, This is the only Sonic I have been to where they won't serve you in your car. The kiosks have mostly been removed and the remaining few do not work. I wish the corporate office would get involved and make this location improve in all areas to meet the standards. Sunday September 1, 2019, about 7pm: So bad. Sonic Tehachapi so thoroughly insulted my taste buds, I want to file a grievance. I jest but really, does it survive because of the captive trans-mountain travelers? The wait was about 25 minutes after we ordered, which itself took about 10 minutes. There appeared to be one guy with a headset taking all the orders, while frantically moving back and forth across the kitchen inside until some other employees trickled in. I got the 2-patty bacon cheeseburger with tots and a strawberry limeade. Haven't ever had a burger so dry from a restaurant. I did have a really bad burger from a little league concession stand once that was worse. Anyway, it tasted like they forgot it on the grill for an extra 5 minutes after it was done, then figured I wouldn't notice. And why did the bacon taste like bacon bits? Low quality. The tots and limeade were delicious. My mother got the chicken wrap combo. She wanted poppers as her side but Sonic apparently hasn't conquered the concept of paying the difference toward your desired side. Poppers on the side was clearly absurd and therefore impossible. She said the chicken wrap was ok. The fries were scorched and hard. They looked deceivingly delicious but once in your mouth their true cardboard qualities smacked the taste buds. Horrible customer service. I waited 20 minutes for a small order. 4 other cars checked in after me and received their orders before me. I finally pressed the red button to ask if they received my order and the employee told me to be patient because they were busy. My 3 items were brought out only after every other customer was gone. My review is for the customer service of Carter. We drove up to order and I ended up having to change my order to a meal yet he was patient with us the whole time. At the window he greeted me with ma'am and (even though I'm young, I really appreciate the manners). We tried the cherry Red Bull slush and didn't like it and kindly asked if we could get the original one instead, since there was a line behind us he kindly told us to pull to the side and he would bring it out. I was coming back from a camping trip when I had to stop over to refill the gas tank. What do I stumble upon - a Sonic Burger Drive-In! Let's Go!! I have seen a lot of Sonic Drive-In commercials on TV, but the closest one to my house is 35 miles down in Anaheim. Interesting concept. Either find a parking slot with an order board and eat in the comfort of your own car, or walk outside and order your food from a central post and grab a table. The food is brought out to your table or car, hot and fresh - old school style. I don't understand why they don't have a Sonic Drive-In anywhere in Los Angeles County.
