Service was quick, ambiance was nice. Food was decent, not very flavorful. Not sure if I'll come back.

I was very excited to try this place on a Saturday but unfortunately I wasn't able to. When I arrived, I was quickly notified that the restaurant would be closing in the next few minutes. I was confused and let the hostess know that their website stated they close at 8:30pm, and it was nowhere near that time. She sheepishly admitted that was correct but due to it being slow, they were closing early. It was a real bummer but such is the way of life. Hopefully I can come back at an earlier time and try it. The aesthetics look nice, maybe food is good too.

Came for a work happy hour. It wasn't crowded after work, and since there was no game at LA live it wasn't that busy either. Chips and salsa at table. Chips lightly seasoned. We filled up! Got the Mar y terra bowl and it was just the right size. The shrimp was succulent.

I brought my company of 11 here, and we absolutely loved it. The grand margarita is unbelievable. I also just love a place that still does chips and salsa complementary. The ambience inside is super cute, they played good music that was at a normal volume, and the service was exceptional. I don't know why this restaurant has ratings all over the place on Yelp, because I found this place to be a 10 out of 10.

I have seen the Sonoritas burritos that were all over social media a few years back. I was walking past the restaurant a few days ago and saw that they have a deal for the beef/shrimp burrito, which is $10. I went in and decided to order the burrito. The $10 is smaller than the regular one, which was good. The server also told me that I could wait at the bar, which was having happy hour. I was going to order a few items while waiting but he told me I could also order the happy hours to go, which was great! I ended up ordering the quesadilla and elote for $5 each. The food came out quickly and I was able to eat the food at home. The burrito was pretty good and pretty filling. The only small complaint I had was that the burrito was not wrapped properly so it ended up falling out everywhere. The quesadillas were also good. Meat for both were super tender. My least favorite was the elote, which were a little bland. That being said, I would definitely come back here again. It's pretty close to Crypto, so it's a pretty good place to go pre game. It's also less busy than LA Live so I think it's a good option to avoid the crowds. I am not sure about parking because I walked over, but parking can be pretty bad especially during games.

Super solid at Sonoritas Prime Tacos, simply known at Sonoritas. They have a fun layout, great cozy patio overlooking Flower Street, just a block over from LA Live. Great comidas (food) y bebidas (drinks). There isn't really anyone at the door to greet or guide you, but they do have helpful signs letting you know to order at the bar. I'm not sure if this is the norm or what dinner is like here. We popped in for lunch and it was pretty chill. Service was prompt and thoughtful. Self serve water station as well as utensil and essential station (salt, pepper, napkins, to go boxes, plus more. It's no frills with great flavorful meals. My Grilled Veggie Bowl was close to perfect. Vegetarian options galore which most of which can be made vegano, sin queso o mayonesa (without cheese or mayo). No clearly laid out vegan items, but a lot of easy to modify veggie ones. Complimentary chips and salsa, forks in cool wooden boxes as well as napkins on most tables. Restrooms are clean, easy to access. No WiFi. Good music. Full bar. Okay for groups as some of the rooms can hold several. Staying in downtown for the weekend we didn't have to worry about parking, however paid garage, paid lot and limited street parking are your options as well as local L.A. Metro busses and stations. Open Tuesday through Sunday as early as 1130pm/Noon. This is one of their two locations, the other being in Sawtelle. Definitely recommend checking out this one is DTLA - downtown.

I love that there's a Sonoritas in downtown! It makes it more convenient for tourists staying in downtown and don't want to drive all the way to Marina Del Rey. The prices are up from when I had them a few years ago but the taste is still on point. You can't go wrong with their classic burrito, Mar Y Tierra which is jumbo grilled shrimp and juicy steak. It's legit as always and tastes delicious. This location is awesome with a much bigger space and a bar! They have nothing but excellent tequilas so be prepared to have real tasting quality drinks. They have a large seating area with unique art everywhere. It's a way better spot than the original location. I'm definitely coming back again!

We arrived at around 6:30 on a Friday night and were seated right away even though there was a private party using a significant portion of the restaurant. The service model is a little strange. It feels like a sit down restaurant but you order at the entrance and get a number. We got the carne asada burrito and carne asada Tijuana taco with a side of rice and beans. You get your first order of chips and salsa free if you dine in. The chips were kind of stale, though. Happy hour starts at 7 (it's also 3-5), so we got up to order round 2 -- margaritas and elote appetizer. This time we had to go order at the bar. It looked like some people were getting table service, so we were a little confused by it all. The food was passable, but not the best Mexican food we've ever had. The rice was a little hard and they only use one tortilla for the taco, which you know is going to fall apart. The tortilla for the burrito also needed to be warmed more. Salsas were too spicy for my taste, but hubby liked them Elote was solid. Margaritas were strong, but the strawberry didn't have much strawberry flavor. The place is cute, but the music was kind of loud.

    Al Pastor Burrito is excellent
    Tom C.

Here's a hot take: everyone's going to tell you that you must order the Mar y Tierra burrito (basically surf and turf). Sure, it's good--really good, in fact--but it's not better than the al pastor burrito or the straight-up shrimp burrito. Yeah, I said it. The asada is fine, but when the other fillings are this good, why bother? Pro tip: bring a friend with similar taste, each order a different burrito, and then swap halves. That way you get the best of both worlds, like a culinary parent trap without the child labor laws. Presentation is on point, too. They slice the burritos in half, swipe a smear of guacamole across the cut, and crown it with a little piece of whatever's inside. It's like a burrito fashion show--sassy, dressed, and ready for its close-up. Don't take my word for it, check the photos--there are about a million of them. This spot lands on practically every "Best of L.A." burrito and taco list, so it shouldn't surprise you that it's excellent. Go, enjoy, and may the parking gods have mercy on your soul.

10 out of 10 FOR SUREEEEEE. There's literally no denying this score. I just moved to downtown LA & this is my absolute favorite authentic Mexican Resturuant. The burritos are just . The carne asada burrito with a chile relleno inside was just life-altering for me. I don't think i'll ever be the same after eating that. The pistachio horchata was alright. The green color was throwing me off lmao but i liked it

Complementary chips and salsa as it should be!

The restaurant wasn't very crowded on a Friday night and I kind of understand why. I didn't want to give any less stars because it might have just been the meal I got this time but it was waaaaaay too salty!! My husband and I both ordered burritos and we were practically dying of thirst during and long after dinner. I also noticed it was too salty from my first bite. I ordered the chicken burrito and my husband ordered the steak burrito. We ordered some guacamole for the table and I'm glad we did because it was very good! I also appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa which tasted very fresh! My margarita was also very tasty and strong! The service was very good. We were very happy with our waiter. There is plenty of space so if you are planning a larger meet up this could be a good place! Just be sure to drink lots of water!!

Tucked into the vibrant Sawtelle district, SONORITAS Prime Tacos brings the bold, mesquite-fired flavors of Northern Mexico to the heart of Los Angeles. From the moment you walk in, the scent of grilled meat and freshly pressed tortillas welcomes you--and your appetite. The menu centers around Sonoran-style tacos, with high-quality ingredients front and center. The Prime Rib-Eye Taco, grilled over mesquite and served on house-made tortillas, is the star--tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned. Other standouts include the Mar y Tierra Burrito, a decadent mix of Angus beef and shrimp. The interior is casual but stylish, with a welcoming vibe that matches the warm and attentive service. Whether you're dropping in for a quick lunch or planning a relaxed dinner with friends, Sonoritas hits the sweet spot between comfort food and quality dining.

Mixed feelings about this place. First time I dropped by there was a massive lineup so went elsewhere. Second time we dropped in 5 minutes before opening, but they ended up opening 10 minutes later than their posted hour. Third time I can back they gave everyone free chips and salsa. Mar Y Tierra Burrito - a half burrito for about $10. Burrito itself is a good size even for half size. The burrito is stuffed with tastiness. On my third return, came back for a second order of the same thing. Would definitely come back again when I have the chance! Pistachio horchata - needs more pistachio flavour, the roasted rice flavour dominated the drink. Nice to try, but would not get again.

No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

Sonoratown was our first stop as it was highly recommended by my boyfriend's brother, and it did not disappoint. It immediately earned a spot in our top five favorite taco spots for carne asada in all of Southern California! The location that we went to is located in between Elysium DTLA and Perfumeria Starlux on E 8th St in downtown LA. There is only paid(?) street parking around the area that could be extremely difficult to find during work days. Because we couldn't snag a spot, my friends and I opted for takeout and didn't end up eating until about 30 minutes later. Despite the travel time, the tacos were still absolutely incredible--I can only imagine how spectacular it tastes fresh! My friends and I ordered the carne asada tacos, and my boyfriend opted for the cabeza. Before I even took a full bite, I tasted a piece of the loose carne asada and was blown away; it was perfectly cooked with a wonderful tenderness and deep smokiness. The use of a single, thin, handmade flour tortilla--rather than the standard double corn--was a total game-changer and exactly how I preferred my tacos. The salsas were equally impressive, offering fantastic flavor and a great kick. My boyfriend's cabeza taco was just as standout, featuring super-tender meat with a rich, savory profile. Wowowow! Between the exceptional meat quality, bold flavors, and great value, this is easily one of the best taco spots I've visited. It's a huge bummer that they don't have a location down in San Diego, but we will definitely be back!

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant.
