I'd probably give it 3.5 stars if I could. We went for lunch on Sat, and there was only one other table occupied. The service wasn't bad, not too friendly either. We ordered combo meal with pork belly, chadol, stew and steamed egg. I liked that they gave you different condiments for the meat, such as salt, wasabi, and soy sauce based dipping sauce. They also give you pickled cabbage and veggies that are tasty. Even myung-ee namul, which is pricey. Meat itself was ok, the pork belly wasn't as juicy as we were hoping for. It wasn't bad, just not that great. One of the weirdest things is that usually chadol is cooked first since it cooks so quickly, but they cooked all the pork items first. Then they turned off the grill, so we thought maybe because we still had pork on our plates? After a while, we asked them to cook the chadol so they came over and just dumped all the chadol on the cold grill and turned it on. We mentioned how the grill has to re-heat and the lady responded saying that is how they cook their chadol. I've been eating Kbbq for 30+ years, and I've never heard that before. So the meat started cooking slowly as the grill started heating up, and the meat tasted fine, but it was just odd. I think it would've been better had they cooked it quickly on a hot grill, but whatevers, what do I know. We also ordered the cold kimchi broth noodles. The portion was huge, enough for two people to split. The broth was very cold and refreshing, but it was a little too salty and sweet for my taste. This was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint. The amount of variety of side dishes here are amazing. The meat quality is amazing, the cuts are incredibly tender and flavorful. The waiters cook for you and they did a great job in making sure things were cooked correctly and to our liking. Perfect place to have some KBBQ and soju. Make sure you don't wear anything nice because it will make it smell, there's also splatter from the oils of the meat. We got the Combo C (97) for four people and added beef brisket (31) and honestly, we could have done without the added dish. We had two servers and noticed huge difference between the two. The female server was nice attentive and knew how to cook! The male who followed her did not take any care. The brisket was dumped on the grill unevenly and pulled off before properly cooking. It affected the texture of the beef. Also for 31, you dont get enough brisket. I wish that they include both types of soups instead of just one. Combo B was the perfect meal. Really enjoyed the meat it came with and it had a good amount of food for two people. We chose the pork collar over the pork belly. The pork collar was really good, flavorful and juicy. Loved eating it with all the different variations of sauces and side dishes. Wet aged pork at Sookdal is the must get item. It's actually a bit magical here on the second floor at the corner of Western & 4th, entrance off 4th. The meat here is so filled with flavor and juicy, it's just wonderful~! Various cuts of pork which they have a cute little guide to eating with it! My personal favorite way to go is to try it ALL the suggested ways - plain, with salt, with various sauces, with various banchans, with myeong-yi (my personal fav) and with my second fav ---- Grilled cheese! Basically it is the most brilliant and tasty thing of all time. You can get a combo that includes this cheese for grilling or add it for $10. This is probably one of the worst services we've had at a korean bbq place. It's just weird because there weren't a lot of people and their waiters were just standing around. The food doesn't justify it either. We got the combo d and the aged pork belly and pork collar were extremely lean. We locked in Combo D: pork belly, pork collar, and beef brisket. It also came with soup, steamed egg, and cheese . We added two Zero Cokes to stay "on track" with our "diet" The food came fast! Plenty of banchan (Korean side dishes) and a full set of dipping sauces. Super satisfying just looking at it The best part? They grill everything for you! Watching the server work his magic -- slicing, flipping, and perfectly grilling the meats -- was oddly therapeutic.
