I grew up in Cincinnati but never once visited Sorrento's. I've driven by a few times in the last year so put it on my radar. So glad I did! Open since 1956 the interior is very Old School Italian. Just loved it! We had handmade mozzarella sticks, pizza, lasagna and chicken Parmesan. All were savory and delicious. Loved the red sauce surrounding my lasagna...and the Al dente pasta! I've lived in Cincinnati for 54 years and finally made my first visit to Sorrento's! Our party of 6 shared bruschetta, a large pizza, a regular pizza and an order of spaghetti and meatballs. While everything was delicious, the entire group raved about the meatballs! The pizza was very filling, on the thicker side with massive amounts of cheese. The sauce was tangy with a slight kick of spice, which I really enjoyed. The dining room was warm and festive with plenty of Cincinnati memorabilia lining the walls, along with obligatory Italian scenes and celebrities (Sophia Lauren, Dean Martin, etc.). Carry out order only! Cant speak to ambiance or service. I ordered the crispy ravioli, smoked dry rub wings, and tiramisu. The ravioli was the best appetizer ravioli I've ever had! It was full of gooey cheese, and perfectly crispy on the outside. Seriously, I will be ordering them again. The red sauce for dipping was also good. The chicken wings were decent. The dry rub tasted like some Italian seasoning which was nice. They were not greasy so that's also a plus. They could have been crispier though. They were a bit chewy. I think I'd order a sauce on the side for dipping next time as well. They just needed something. The tiramisu was good. Could have used more soaking of the lady fingers as the cake was a bit dry. But it was dusted well and included some chocolate sauce and extra cookies on the side that I'll have for breakfast with my cappuccino. My husband and I were looking for a nice place to eat in the Norwood area before my son's soccer game at XU. We didn't want the same old, same old, and that's when we came upon Sorrento's Italian Joint. First let's talk about the decor, which deservesa shout-out. It is so warm and cozy inside, and the paintings on the wall are beautiful! The building has an old-world feel, and the wine bottle room is especially cool! Now onto the food. We started off with the Bread Basket. The rolls looked and tasted homemade, and the herb garlic butter was unique and flavorful. For my entree, I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs, while my husband had the Chicken Alfredo. Both dishes were delicious--and the serving sizes were large. The Spaghetti and Meatballs comes with three, huge meatballs that are homemade. The pasta is homemade as well, and you can taste the difference. The entire meal had that fresh, made-from-scratch quality, and I savored each and every bite. Unfortunately, we were too full to try dessert, plus we had to hurry back for the game. Next time! We went here for NYE, and since we ate early, we were the only ones there when we sat down. We got the sausage dip for an appetizer, and I ordered the cheese ravioli for my main course, and we finished with a slice of cinnamon bun cheesecake made by the mother of our waitress! The waitress was friendly and checked on us regularly, and the food was great. It's a casual spot with a lot of families and older couples at least when we were there. Didn't even get to try the food. Only two tables in the restaurant that were occupied. Our waitress brought us waters about five minutes into us being sat, and said she would be back. 20 minutes later, she had not been back so we left. Our group from the Y ate at Sorrento's Italian Joint for lunch today. It was my first time there. The pizza was good. They have 2 sizes, Reg and Large. The reg is big enough for 2-3 people. I took 2/3 of mine home and will get another meal and a snack out of it. I was told the fish and chips and the BBQ pizza were also good. SHAME ON SORRENTOS! SHAME ON SORRENTOS MANAGEMENT. I have gathered a church group that goes to various restaurants the first Thursday of each month. Tonight it was Sorrentos. We have gone there before and it is a place we put on a list to return to. Tonight, we took Sorrentos off that list. It's listed as Sorrentos Pizza Joint. Upon arrival, we were told the brick oven was down and there would be no pizzas or bread produits available. From there, service only got worse. There were no condiments on the table. I politely asked our waitress for condiments. After serving our entrees, i had to repeat my request for condiments. That was strike two. We have an 86 year old tetired nun in our group. She had ordered coffee at the start of the evening. When she asked for more coffee she was told they were out of coffee. They offered to heat up the remainder of her coffee in a microwave or she could have tea. She wanted coffee. Several of us at the table inquired why she could not get coffee. We were told that the restaurant did not have the staffing to send someone out to get coffee. I asked if i could speak to a manager only to be told that the manager on duty was our waitress. The same person who denied the coffee. I was not happy with the response of our waitress/manager. I told her on no uncertain terms that this was not acceptable. When the checks were passed out, a member of our group asked if the coffee had been credited on the 86 year old nun's check. Me and 7 others came tonight as Sorrentos hosted Xavier's new basketball coach's talk show. We couldn't have asked for better, our server Taylor was exceptional, she made our night with her humor and hospitality. Food was amazing we only ordered a couple pizzas for the table but will surely be back soon for more personal entrees. We left with no leftovers surprisingly considering how big their large pies are. Might just be not my style but I have been twice and the food just never impressed me. It isn't bad at all just standard. Got the veal parmesan and the Mama T pizza. The veal I couldn't have told you wasn't any other random meat and the pizza was good but really just not special @ $25 a large. The soup was the biggest let down at 6 dollars for a small bowl. What a fun surprise of a place! You walk inside and can tell that it's been around for a while just by looking at all the newspaper articles and history on the wall. Our server told us the current building is over one hundred years old. We decided to eat outside since it was beautiful and got to play some bocce ball while we waited. Seating is great for larger groups, lots of options for seating in general, indoors, outdoors, and two private rooms. We went for pizza, but I'd definitely like to try some of the other Italian dishes next time. I got The Big Goomba pizza, size regular. Very Disappointed. 3 stars are generous. The Pizza is usually excellent. On Saturday 2/8/25 we were to pick up 4 large pizzas at 11:15 AM. A $100 order. We placed the order 3 days in advance with Kyle the manager. When I arrived at 11:15, Kyle who had taken my original order said they were running behind because a couple of employees showed up late. I waited 25 minutes until I was given the pizzas. It was obvious that the order was not even started until I arrived. Timing of the order was important because we were holding. a 70th B-Day Party for my wife at Noon in Madeira. I had to speed to the next place where were we had pre-ordered wings. I got home late with guests already arriving. Opened the boxes and the pizza had a hard crust twice as wide as before and half the cheese as we have had before. Not Good. I'm in shock. We are long time neighborhood loyal customers at Sorrento's. Tonight we walked in the restaurant because when we drove by the "We Are Open" sign was on. The were lots of parking spaces open. Upon entering I saw lots of tables were empty. I quickly darted to the bathroom because the Modelos from earlier in the night were catching up to me. After using the facilities I was SHOCKED to learn that we were refused service. The staff rudely informed us that we could not be seated. The restaurant, bar included, was fully booked for St. X's Mom Prom. If that was the case, why was the "Open" sign on? Why wasn't there a private event sign on the door?
