Sorrento's is a mom-n-pop Italian restaurant, located off Western Avenue and 25th Street, in a strip mall behind a Mobil gas station. For a tiny strip mall, there's a lot of other interesting eateries to choose from, which can make parking a problem. The place is divided into 2 sections: a take out side, and a dine in restaurant. We chose to dine in, and was seated at the table near the hostess station. The restaurant and booths are old, but have charm, which must be why families come back. I was there for one thing:the meat ball sandwich. I heard great things about it, and the portion sizes are large, so I chose to get a small sandwich, which came with chips. The sandwich was generously filled with meatballs, but I wish there was more provolone cheese. It wasn't as gooey as I would have wanted with each bite. Stephen did not feel for a sandwich and chose the sausage and peppers plate, which came with a side of spaghetti and meat sauce and a basket of garlic bread. He said the sausage was very good, but they used the mild, not a spicy sausage. The peppers and onions were grilled just right, not too raw, and the spaghetti was al dente. The portions were indeed large, and we took half of our meal home. With 2 drinks, the bill came to $35 with tax and tip. Not the cheapest lunch in town, but you will get 2 meals out of it, or better yet, find someone to share. read more

If this isn't the SWEETEST hole-in-the- wall Italian food joint, then I don't know what is! You definitely get an old timey- yet very inviting vibe. We had the meatballs, that were just as good as your Nonas, probably better! (Chefs kiss) Tried the personal pizza with garlic and basil.. the cheese and sweet marinera stole the show tonight! Our go to carry out pizza whenever we go on a coast drive around the PV peninsula. Can't go wrong with a simple sausage... flavorful sauce... stretchy mozzarella goodness. Today, we tried their torpedo it could've been juicier or maybe I should have gotten it toasted for the juices to flow and meld. Italian seasoning would've been a nice touch too. Anyone had their creamy Italian dressing? We were surprised by the pink color, but then I thought, well it's creamy red vinaigrette so it makes sense. But why is it so sweet? The seafood pasta was absolutely delicious and a huge amount of, I most definitely recommend.

Food and customer service is great! And the old style ambiance is nice. It's been a long standing restaurant in San Pedro for a reason.

I order medium veggie pizza the only thing was on that pizza was cheese tomato and olive and bell pepper Price $32 if you pay with a credit card they will charge you additional $1.35 without telling you. I would not go back there are better options around the neighborhood. read more

I ordered to have it delivered to my house by an outside, private delivery company but the food didn't show up. I guess the driver was hungry and couldn't resist the smell. Not Sorrento's fault. The pizza is good, better than any chain, but not as good as others I've had locally (see list). Only had to wait for a table a couple of times. With two kids under 4 in tow, that factor is HUGE to me. Oddly enough, the cool, crisp basic green dinner salad with chick peas, kidney beans and blue cheese stands out in my mind...that's good stuff! I also recently discovered the swordfish sandwich for $11.95. That's a lot of fish for that money. Next time I'll hold the mayo, and it will be perfect! But my favorite random thing is the fact that they have red wine by the carafe for like $10. I can't stand getting ripped off with the triple markup wine by the bottle at most places. I have been coming to Sorrento's with my family for years. There's nothing fancy about it, which I love. It's homey, comfortable, and the staff is really nice. Plus, it's some of the only decent Italian in San Pedro, which is hard to believe since San Pedro is full of Italians. In fact, one of my best friend's is an Italian from San Pedro, and his family has been getting pizza from Sorrento's every Friday since they moved there. It's just that good. Decor is very old school Italian, bordering on cheesy. But again, it kind of makes this place charming. This place has been around forever and looks it...but not in a bad way...more in a comforting way. The portions are HUGE, and the prices are commensurate with most other Italian restaurants that aren't half as good. If you're not going pizza (which I highly recommend), go with a dinner entree. You get a salad (your choice of dressing, beans, croutons, etc.), a basket of garlic bread (very buttery and delicious), and a huge portion of whatever you've ordered. I'd venture to say it's large enough for 2-3 people. My favorites? Gnocchi, lasagna, and chicken parmigiana (this entree also comes with spaghetti). I'm usually way too full after all of this to get dessert, but I'd venture to say it's decent based on the food. If you go pizza, just know that the smallest size is still like 6 slices. My mom and I usually split a medium (8 slices) and have more than enough to take home. Also! If you are going to order a salad, it's best to get it with a dinner entree. If you order a la carte, you're looking at $5/salad. That's really my only complaint. I wouldn't order wine here if you're looking for something fancy. Think Carlo Rossi moonshine jug. I'm not sure about the beer selection. This restaurant has a take-out counter directly next door, which is really convenient for picking up pizza to go or just ordering single meals. I've used it a couple times and found it to be quick and reliable. Parking here is not a problem. The lot is spacious, and the restaurant is in a strip mall across from the Starbucks on 25th. If your'e looking for fancy, go to Neil's Seafood and Pasta or Michael's (formerly Marcello Ristorante). If you're looking for large portions and comfort Italian food, this is your place in San Pedro. read more

My last review was 5 stars, and my stellar experience continues! This time I was needing to host our grade school for dinner (60 people) during their play production of The Drowsy Chaperone. I called Vince whom I've know for some time and he suggested I come down and meet with him to walk through the budget and needs of the group. After a 5-minute conversation the food was set; 8 assorted pizzas (double cut), large tray of alfredo pasta, large tray of red sauce pasta, salad, and garlic bread. My group put a BIG dent in the food, but we still had a little left - lucky me. As the kids cycled through the line, some multiple times, I frequently heard, "I LOVE Sorrento's!" You see, this location is an institution in the San Pedro area and assuredly a place they have all enjoyed before. They are a Italian food based operation much more than just Pizza! Sue and her team maintain a high volume of take out to their existing customers! The staff is very hard working and operations gives total transparency! The choice of pizza for this review was Margarita with added sausage. The true meaning of my investigations is when things happen regarding orders and communication that result in the customer not being completely satisfied! My experience after resolution has determined that Sorrento's provided great service and the highest grade of italian pizza possible! There was communication issue related to ordering over the phone that was following my many phone calls for R&D of a particular pizza that was searching for, but difficult to find. The ingredients used for the pizza served is very expensive and may have resulted in my business for that purchase as a negative profit! So it gives me great pleasure to show my thanks for making everyone! Thank you Sue for making the decision to go above and beyond a mistake that was of neither parties fault! Overdue review. The pizza was okay. It think it was the soup that was really good. The day I visited the order was wrong. We ordered a pizza and it did not come out until close to when we finished dinner because the server forgot to give the pizza order to be cooked. Sad to have to make this review. I've been eating at Sorrento's for 9 years now. Mostly order a large half and half Pizza and a Garden Salad with Ranch dressing. Most of the time my order is good, and right! From time to time, They've made my pizza wrong. I usually order half pepperoni-half veggies because I'm a vegetarian and my husband is not. I brought it to their attention once, about meat being on the whole pizza, and they apologized, but didn't offer a fix for me. I let it go. Today, I ordered the same order as usual, with a garden salad. I got home and it had kidney beans and Garbanzo beans, one cherry tomato. There was no way my husband will eat this. So, I spent a pretty minute picking the beans out, AFTER I called Sorrento's and told them. They didn't offer to fix it. They only said; Ok, thank you, I'll make not of it. Wow? I mean customer service and restoration means a lot to me. Especially after I've supported the restaurant for a long time now. Anyway, just disappointed tonight unfortunately. read more

I wanted to support small businesses during Covid19 and ordered an XL pepperoni and cheese pizza. I ordered ahead of time over the phone and they said it would take approximately 35-40mins. When I arrived our pizza was ready for pick up. Everyone waited outside of the restaurant and it was easy to go in and pick up my pizza. My family and I drove down to a beach nearby and ate our fresh hot pizza while we watched the rain and the ocean waves. A family of 4 can enjoy two slices each for an XL pizza. Some slices were bigger than others but whose complaining! We also ordered meat lasagna and that was really delicious too! It was a great day to enjoy Sorrento's pizza and lasagna! read more

I visited this restaurant with my friend, reminiscing about the delicious food we enjoyed here three decades ago. We ordered the lunch special, Cannelloni, and a Sorrento's special large pizza. The sausage tasted a bit off, but I'm not typically a fan of sausage so I didn't pay much attention. We took home the remaining pizza, half each. I heated up the pizza for my husband who loves pizza and he said that there was an odd smell coming from the sausage and pepperoni. But he reluctantly ate two slices anyway. Unfortunately, both my husband and I experienced stomach aches and had to go to bathroom multiple times throughout the night. Today, I asked my friend if she & her husband were okay but regrettably, they both suffered as we did. I am really disappointed in this restaurant.
