We were in town for a cruise and wanted pasta. After researching a few places we decided on Sorrento's. After a short drive from the double tree we arrived. We were promptly seated by a very energetic host; asked for our drink order and left to review the menu. The menu has quite a bit on it, everything looked good. There were only two of us and hunger was taking over and we placed an order for a cheesy bread appetizer; wow it's a full plate not a few slices these portions are HUGE! After a few more minutes we decided on the spaghetti which came with a salad and the bow tie carbonara by Itself. Wow did I mention we got a basket of garlic bread. This place is definitely not for those on a low or no carb diet! The portions of pasta are huge! It doesn't look like I made a dent in mine and I'm stuffed! My husband usually eats a lot less than I do and his plate looks like he didn't take a bite. (Did I mention the huge portions?) overall this was a great experience and reasonably priced. This is a good place to grab a sandwich while in Pedro especially if Busy Bee market is closed or you just need some variety! A nother haunt I used to get sandwiches when staying at the evil exs. Someday will have to get a torpedo from this place again. read more

Wow this is a hidden gem. I was told that this place had really good red sauce and they weren't kidding. I had the half & half ravioli and spaghetti and it was awesome! The red sauce is defiantly all the rave. Traditional family run restaurant with excellent prices. Feels good to support local businesses. A definite must try. read more

We lived in San Pedro 40 years ago and have recently returned to the area. I was very happy to see Sorrento's was still in business and apparently being run by the original owner's family. My kids loved the place then and they will love it now if they ever decide to come visit dear old mom and dad. No, this is not haute Italian cuisine. But, if you are looking an outstanding family style pasta and pizza restaurant, look no further. It is still top of the line. Portions are abundant and delicious. Forget the chain store pizza. This place is still winner and champion going on more than 40 years. I will either go in and enjoy the ambience or pick up myself (we live only 3 miles away) as I don't trust these computerized delivery places. God knows who is touching your food. I want to see the cooks (which you do when you go in the takeout side at Sorrento's.) I also want the smell of garlic, meatballs, mariana, mozzarella, and sausage in my car the next day. But I am old and stuck in my ways. There is a Mexican place right next door and that is next on my list as we continue our old home week tour of an area that we reluctantly had to leave circa 1983 as life and "strictly business" got in the way. read more

The owner is awesome and so down to earth!!! We showed up early by mistake but he came outside and still helped us out. He definitely made my daughters day. We recently visited Sorrento's to celebrate a birthday. There were 5 people in our party. We ordered the calamari appetizer, two chopped salads, a large pizza, and drinks. Dinner was delicious as usual, BUT a couple days later all but 1 of us got violently ill with food poisoning. We figured it must have been the chopped salad because the 1 person who did not eat salad also did not get sick! We decided it would be a good idea to report this incident to the restaurant. A couple days later I returned to Sorrento's and spoke with Sue the manager. To my surprise I received no sympathy or apology. Instead she immediately defended the freshness of their food and denied the possibility of expired products ever being on the premises! She argued that if the food had been bad then she would have received other complaints! She even remarked that we must have walked in that night with some type of virus!!! Darn! : ( We have been customers for 20 years. Would it have hurt their business to simply apologize and/or maybe refund our bill??? read more

I've had their pizza from here and honestly it was so long ago I can't even remember to review it. What I will review is their sandwiches. They have the BEST pastrami sandwiches! My husband loves their meatball ones. It's as good as it gets in my book. We don't really live near here, so we will drive the half an hour to get one of their sandwiches. read more

I have been coming to Sorrentos as Long as I can remember. I will admit not everyone I know loves the pizza here either you love it or you don't. The pizza has a distinct taste in the sauce its sweet and a bit spicy the cheese covers your toppings. Its the kind of pizza you have have with a large coke or nice cold beer. The portion sizes are huge the inside of the place is comfy and homie and a bit outdated but for some reason I wouldnt want it any other way. read more

We go to this place all the time because it's just a quality italian restaurant. First off, the Antipasto salad is terrific. Fresh, tasty ingredients like salami, mortedella meats, cheese and a variety of vegetables. With their vinagrette, it's a meal in itself. For italian dishes, I love the half ravioli/half spaghetti which includes two large meatballs. Tossed with a good marinara sauce, it is a fine pasta dish. I also love their chicken piccata. My college age daughter loves the gnocchi. And my son always orders the meatball sub, and I sometimes get the torpedo sub, both of which worth trying. The portions are large BTW. Ironically, we don't go for the pizza here. We'd rather go down the street to a different place for that. Anyway, this place is a little treasure that we love to go to. Recommended. read more

Sorrento's is a solid restaurant. It's a little bit of a drive, as it's located on 25th St and Western, but it's worth the drive. I hesitate to call it a pizza joint, simply because of the quaint family atmosphere it exudes. I always get the same thing when I go, and that's a personal pizza, with pepperoni and meatballs and extra sauce. I also get the large dinner salad with ranch. Both items are excellent. I've tried many other items before, like the lasagna, the spaghetti and meatballs, the fried ravioli, making other things and they all seem to be at least decent. It is a shame that they no longer have draft beer, because I am not the biggest fan of bottled beer when I go out to a restaurant. There's just something about having beer on tap. I would recommend this place for pizza and their salad. read more

I went to support my nephew's baseball team & had high expectations because I've heard nothing but good things about the place. My order was to go, a chicken Marsala. When I get home, I open my dish to find a long hair right on top of my chicken. This might sound gross, but I was so hungry that I took the hair out to eat the other piece of chicken . The taste is disgusting! The mushrooms taste as if they have gone bad and, since I am still hungry, I end up just eating the vegetables (broccoli & carrots). Oh and I forgot to mention that they originally got my order wrong. I asked for the Marsala and got the salad instead. I'm not sure I will go back, unless its to support the team again. Now I just hope I don't get sick from the vegetables. I was very disappointed. read more

The food is good. But the prices are a little extreme for the quality of food. The staff isn't always ideal and at times the GIRLS that they hire are kind of snobby. The pizza is ok, and they are good at accommodating large groups. I used to get the turkey sandwich... until I found a huge hair in it... and it was already in my mouth so now I am traumatized by it. lol this place it overly hyped up by the citizens of San Pedro. read more

The eggplant Parmesan was awful--hard and unchewable. Really bad. My son said the spaghetti and meatballs was ok. He got the soup with the meal. First the waitress brought out my salad; five minutes later the garlic bread and I asked about his soup. She brought out the soup a minute later and our meals came out literally a minute later. I paid for a soup he didn't eat. Really bad service. No placemats and a dirty table. Never again. read more

Spent $23.00 for a 3 topping pizza to go. There was so much cheese, could not find the other two toppings only rage anchovies were visible. I like some cheese, but for $23 this was so bad and so unappealing and so unappetizing that we threw away over half. Really disappointed as usually we felt they were good. I've been playing with the idea of ordering Pizza from Sorrento's for years now and tonight I finally went for it. I ordered my fav a Pepperoni and garlic pizza. I asked the woman on the phone if they used fresh garlic and she told me they did. I had a feeling she was lying and turns out she was. The pizza was slathered with that yucky garlic from a can or a jar, no flavor just salt. Honestly the pizza looked delicious, but I wasn't crazy about how sweet the crust was, it worked against the rest of the ingredients. I won't try it again but I gave it 2 stars because others may prefer sweet crust and processed garlic... I'll stick with Big Nicks.. yummy and about 8 dollars less for the same pizza. read more

Sorrentos is a South Shores landmark and has been around what seems like forever. I've been eating Sorrentos pizzas for over 30, probably closer to 40 years! It's always been what I think is the best pizza in town. The service is usually outstanding and the food always excellent.. Portion sizes are nicely proportionate to the pricing. I've never had a bad experience at Sorrentos and am always confident to take out of town friends there for a special dining experience. read more

In my opinion the best pizza around as well as great service! Can't beat the pepperoni pizza and the sandwiches are massive and great.

I've been coming here since they didn't have the deli and they were crammed into the one room with like one booth and 4 tables. My Italian uncle from Jersey used to drive all the way from Pomona for the linguini and clam sauce, which he said was the best he'd had since leaving Jersey. The half and half is my favorite, although I also love the fish dinners and the veal...and the garlic bread is to die for! read more
