I went in last Tuesday for a full set with gel x. Starts at 65, and I requested extra long which I was quoted an extra $10. Perfectly fine. Except they actually don't have the extra long in stock, she was going to just apply the Long tip halfway down my nail bed. I declined and asked for the extra long tips I'm paying for. She then took out "xtra xtra long" and said $85 for these. So completely skipped over extra long and still charged me. Whatever , I agreed because benefit of the doubt. Once the foundation is laid, they ask me what designs I want. I showed them several pictures as inspiration and described what I would like, open to all suggestions and directions. They quoted me an additional $75 on top of the $85, and although I was completely shocked , I figured I was just out of my budget and needed to pick another design. Everything I suggested was $60+ on top of $85. Finally I asked ok what about French tip?! They said $25 extra. Okay, very expensive but I hope they look good. Keep in mind the entire time, only 1 person in the whole salon spoke English and whenever I would ask a question, my tech would yell for the English speaker very annoyed as if I was a problematic customer. I also got a full set gel x pedicure, and needed one nail repaired as it's growing back from falling off. When my tech was removing dead skin from the sides of my nail bed, she snipped my skin and cut me. In total for full set xtra long French tip and French tip gel x pedicure, I paid $190 not including tip. 3 days later, my repaired toe nail came off. Okay, maybe it was just too small of a nail. BUT THEN ON THE 4TH DAY, MY FINGERNAIL BREAKS IN HALF. $190 for basic nails, that break not even a full business week later. So disappointed, will never come back. read more

I've frequented this nail salon for quite some time now. They always do a great job! I usually get the gel x manicure, but today I decided to get the gel mani/pedi. They have a wide selection of nail polish colors and finishes. It always takes me a bit of time to decide because I want all the colors lol! When I finally decided, the service was timely and efficient. My appt was at 4:30 pm and I was finished by 5:30 pm. Both technicians were meticulous and attentive. They also checked on me periodically to make sure I was happy with their service along the way. I was really happy with the way my nails looked. This salon is clean and organized. They have two televisions, but the volumes are on low. You can watch with the closed captions. They also have music playing in the background at a comfortable level. I came in Friday morning and they couldn't accommodate a manicure, so I got a pedicure and came back Sunday for a manicure. I got the Gel-X with extensions and was very happy with the results. I got the cat eye effect which was an additional $15. The total for my manicure was $90 and the basic pedicure was $29. It's a little bit more than what I pay for back in Florida but the difference is minimal. I really appreciated that they get started on you right away and are very attentive and perceptive to what you want. If you want to pay with a card, they charge a 3% fee, otherwise you can just Zelle them your payment. I'll keep this place in mind whenever I'm in town! read more

I came to So Cool Nails specifically looking for help transitioning away from years of acrylics. Like many people who have had acrylics long-term, my nail beds are thin, and I made that very clear upfront. I asked if they specialized in natural nail care and builder gel because my priority is maintaining the integrity and health of my nails. They assured me they could. That was not my experience. After removing my acrylics, the technician repeatedly attempted to wipe and handle my bare, exposed nails using a dirty towel that had clearly been used on previous clients. I watched her continue to use the same towel without replacing or sanitizing it. At that point, I was already uncomfortable--but looking around the salon, it became clear this wasn't an isolated issue. The workstations, tools, and overall environment lacked basic cleanliness standards. Let me be clear: once acrylics are removed, your natural nails are extremely vulnerable. Using unsanitary materials in that moment is not just careless--it is a serious health risk. I stopped the service immediately because I did not feel safe. I was still charged $20 for a service that was incomplete and, frankly, unacceptable. What's even more concerning is their response afterward. Instead of addressing the cleanliness issue, they deflected--blaming my nails for being thin (which I already acknowledged) and completely ignoring the fact that their sanitation practices were the problem. At no point did they deny or correct the use of dirty tools/towels. That says everything. I have since filed a complaint with the state board because this goes beyond a bad manicure--this is about basic hygiene and client safety. Beautiful nails mean nothing if the environment is unsanitary. No one should have to risk infection for a service they're paying for. Avoid this place if you value your health. read more

I had Kimi as my nail tech, and things went downhill quickly. My 12-year-old daughter and I were looking at designs when Kim snapped at us, saying that I should have specified if I wanted a design in advance. I've been here several times before, and no one ever mentioned that I needed to add a design to my appointment. Things escalated quickly when Kimi called her manager over in front of my daughter. She started raising her voice, visibly shaking, and yelling in front of us. She was so upset that she switched to speaking in her native language, and at one point, she became incoherent. I tried to calm her down, but the situation only made me and my daughter feel extremely uncomfortable. At this point, I told Kimi that if she needed to have a conversation with her manager, she should do it privately. Unfortunately, she didn't take that advice and continued working on my nails with a terrible attitude, which made the whole experience feel unprofessional and stressful. I believe any internal issues should be handled privately, not in front of customers--especially not in front of a child. We all have bad days, but it's unacceptable for a customer to be put in the position of trying to calm down a staff member. It seems like there's a problem with communication around their booking system, and it's clear there are internal issues that need to be addressed. This is something customers shouldn't have to deal with, especially when it involves yelling and tension in front of kids. Lastly, Kim refused to provide her license number when I asked for it, which is required by law for professionals in this industry. The owner needs to properly train Kimi to maintain a professional environment. This experience was disappointing, and I won't be returning. The nail salon should be a place to relax and be pampered, not a source of stress. read more
