You can pick up a coffee right next-door at broadcast coffee, the same people run it. In fact, the two suites are connected through a back entrance. I am happy with how this place currently is, but I am even more excited for the renovation and reopening. Yes, they only are serving lunch hours right now, but as they expand and grow and re-launch in the coming months, this is going to be an excellent addition to the Boise community. I ordered the turkey pesto, toasted without mustard and it was delicious. It has sun-dried tomatoes pesto turkey mayonnaise served on a delicious house made bread. Anesso, annex in Italian, opened next to Broadcast coffee, a business with the same owner hence the…read moreclever annex name, yesterday for "very soft" launch as the owner described it.   We are fans of the owner's sibling eatery, Black Moon in Garden City, for pizza, salad, baked goods and coffee and we enjoy Broadcast for coffee too, so we were following news of Anesso and went yesterday, 5-13-25, for opening day.  Perfeto! For us at least, with a menu of maybe half a dozen Italian themed sandwiches using ciabatta or focacci, that is baked at Black Moon, in options for omnivore to vegetarians (roughly $12 - $15) and four salads and if you've enjoyed the great salads at Black Moon, you know these salads (roughly $7.50 - $9) will be too. My husband and I discovered Black Moon in early December 2023, not long after it opened, when it was not yet well known but we knew as soon as it was, it would be super popular and busy. Yep, that is true now. We think the same will be so for Anesso, with lines out the door once people know it is open for business. So a tip is go now to be "the first kid on your block" to try it without crowds. The only drawback for us is it is in downtown Boise and not closer to our house, so it is roughly 35 minutes from our front door to Anesso's counter, assuming we can find parking once we arrive, but it is so worth it for these sandwiches. Our plan is to eat our way through the menu.   CURRENT HOURS: Open M - F from 11a to 3p as they continue to work through new business stuff and then they plan to expand hours.  We arrived maybe 12:30'ish to find no line, we were surprised by that, but we hear it had been a busy hour before that and as soon as we ordered out sandwich to share, four others lined up behind us.  THE DRILL. Order at the counter from the digital menu handing over head that features half a dozen'ish sandwiches, all on their house baked focaccia or ciabatta with options for omnivores and vegetarians.  (The size is easily shareable and if you tell them you plan to do that, they will cut and wrap each half separately.)  They are still waiting on whatever certificate it is they need from the city to offer inside dining, the tables and chairs are stacked against the wall to be ready, so it is take-away only right now. Conveniently located adjacent to Cheri Buckner-Webb park, the urban park with the big pink tree sculpture, there are tables there to eat at or we were invited to take our sandwich next door to eat it inside Broadcast and since it was raining, we did that and enjoyed Broadcast's Americano with it. THE EATS: Our choice yesterday was to share the mortadella sandwich, with mortadella cut whisper thin as it should be, before piling it on the sandwich with house made pistachio pesto, to echo the pistachios in the mortadella, stracciatella cheese, arugula and pickled shallots on bread with a great chew and sturdy enough to hold up to the ingredients ($14.85).  As 'bonus', we have it on good authority of another happy Anesso customer eating inside Broadcast that the porchetta sandwich is the best he has ever had. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in off the sidewak / patio out front and all on one floor. Order counter is at accessible height. Without tables inside, there is lots of floor space for a wheelchair user to get to and from counter. I hope they'll continue that and ensure their tables are placed for ADA access needs and since they have done that at both Broadcast and Black Moon, it seems they will do it here too. We finally are forced to just throw out orders at her non-responsive face. We joke about having waited for an intro & she continues to stare. Very strange encounter, neither of us have ever experienced this anywhere in our lives. It was almost as if she could not deign to greet us. Then when the food came out, they forgot the needed tartar sauce then did an instant 180 and walked away before I could also ask for needed silverware. Don't expect any real service here, it's like waitress & waiters light. The food? Fine & why this is a 3-star review. Not worth the experience. Won't go back. Ordering at the counter before service is served also required a tip. Asking for a tip before proving this level of service is scammy.

My daughter got their lunch special which was a chicken Cesar wrap and it was still 17 bucks. I wasn't in the mood to eat anything big so I got something off their appetizer menu. The fried cauliflower seemed up my alley so I ordered that as my meal. It was mid afternoon so it was pretty chill. There were a few guests dining there. My daughter and I hung out while our food was being prepared. The venue is very big. There's a nice bar area with a big screen TV. Great for conversation, drinks and football. There are a good amount of tables that can handle quite a few people. The decor was very simple country shabby. I love the old school photos of the farmhouses they displayed. I adore old photos that carry so much history. It's cool to see what life was like back then. My fried cauliflower came out first. The presentation of the fried cauliflower was rather annoying. Like they were thrown on one side of the basket cause it was just easier for them. I was also surprised I didn't get any type of dipping sauce with them. It's humorous really, 9 bucks for cauliflower and no dip. No plates, no napkins, no silverware was given when my food was dropped off. I guess we were supposed to wipe our hands on our clothes and eat with our hands. So that tip that was at the end of my transaction is for.... service? What service? I went and asked for some utensils. My daughter's lunch was dropped off after we started on the cauliflower. I can tell my cauliflower had been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. They weren't hot. The exterior of the cauliflower was not crunchy. The sauce had been sitting on the fried batter too long and it became mushy. I scraped off the mushy batter and just ate the cauliflower with no dipping sauce. My daughter's wrap looked pretty basic for 17 bucks. We also found a blonde hair in her food. We were offered a new wrap but who wants a new wrap when my daughter just chewed on someone's hair. The venue is nice. This joint has been on my to go list for a while so it was cool I got to scope it out today. But, the food was nothing special. They start the tip percentage at 20% for you to get your own utensils, napkins and beverage. Tipping is earned and or atleast be given some decent service but taking our order at the bar or dropping off food isn't service to me. I'll pass on the subpar overpriced food and lack of service. I'll stick to somewhere in my neck of the woods.
