The owner stopped by my husband's job and left a pie for free, which subsequently had my husband immediately go back because he really enjoyed the pizza. At first, I was scared because of the reviews, but after speaking to the owner, I was told that the co-owner that everyone complained about had gotten sick and is no longer working at this establishment. They're trying to build back their base in the community and said that the schools and local churches have been helping them out tremendously. My family and I decided to get a pepperoni pizza, which is really good. It was fresh and delivered to the table within 15 minutes. I think what's special about this place is that we walked in 30 minutes from closing, and they welcomed us like they weren't getting ready to close up and go home. This was our second dinner It was late (8:00) and we ordered two pizzas for delivery. We got large Buffalo Chicken and a small crab dip pizza. Delivery was quick (8:27) and both pizzas were hot! Ordered and delivery was quoted 45-50 mins. 90 mins later, my husband called for an ETA on our order and he was told "the driver delivered it to the wrong house." While I'm not sure how that even happens, he asked how long would it be for a new order to come out. He was told 30-45 mins. He then asked if we waited that long, would it be discounted or free. My husband was put on hold for 5 mins while he "asked the guys." When the guy came back on the phone, my husband was told "we can't give you any money off if you're still getting the food." Our credit card was already charged $43+ and they weren't going to refund the amount! (Translation we're calling the credit card company in the morning to dispute the charge.) It wasn't worth arguing. My husband told them to cancel the order. (We're not out to get something for free.) Had they called to tell us our order was delivered to the wrong house, we would have gladly waited for a new order at full price. Lack of communication and not taking responsibility for their error is what got us. Honestly, we think they forgot to make the order and made an excuse. Either way, South River Pizza & Subs lost us as a customer tonight. Customer service is the most important thing -- they need to work on that. read more

I usually just LOVE this place. Tonight is was a total of one star. Lately it hasn't been the same and that's a shame. I like Sam alot and think he is a great man with a great restaurant but when he is not there it is not worth going. The food we received tonight was burnt. Not singed.......but charred. When I called to let them know , the person on the phone just asked if I wanted him to remake it . An average pizza place. There are 3 types of pizza places. Your bargain bottom level such as dominos, pizza hut, etc. The fast chains competing against each other. Big pizzas run 8-14 bucks. Then you have gourmet places at the high end, pizzas running 30+ bucks usually worth the price. Last you have those in the middle. That is your biggest "maybe" places pizzas run 18-25 bucks. This is one of those. They are average. They still use cheaper bread dough instead of pizza dough to save money, its bland and flavorless, even Dominos is better. I tried 2 pizzas today, their meat pizza and a buffalo chicken. A buffalo chicken pizza is suppose to have chicken, buffalo sauce of some sort and a sweet cheese of some sort to contrast with the sauce. They just had a chicken pizza. No buffalo nothing, no sweet cheese. 2/5 stars only because it had lots of chicken. Their meat pizza was plenty of toppings but the cheap average processed toppings all other chains use, once you eat it you instantly recognize the flavor and go "oh that". There isn't any reason to go out of your way to order here, every other bottom-middle pizza place is its rival and it doesn't do anything better than any of them. Won't go back Dominos is closer, and cheaper. read more

I like this place. It's in the Safeway Plaza on Rt. 214 in Edgewater. It's a local eatery, and I believe the owner is Greek, (very friendly and accommodating). There is little ambiance, but I get stuff to go and my favorite is the chicken cheesesteak with provolone and grilled onions. Tasty. They also serve gyros, pizza, pasta, salads, wings, other hot & cold subs and wraps. Fries are disappointing though unless you are a fan of the battered/coated spud variety. Ive been coming here a few times since I've moved up to the annapolis area. Ive only had a few items so far but everytime i come i always get good food. My favorite item so far is their Buffalo Bill wrap combo (you can get it in sandwich form if you'd like). The chicken has always been crispy with just the right amount of ranch and lettuce next time i get one i'll ask about a few chunks of tomatoe in there too. All the food is fresh and made to order. It's a no frills kinda place but owned by a nice guy who's usually there and always willing to make you happy. Its not a night out kinda place but rather a lazy tasty dinner or a solid lunch option. Big supporter of the local community it. I would pass on the desserts though they're kinda on the high side and aren't really great. I have ordered from here twice, the only reason they are getting two stars is because the bread for the subs seemed really fresh both times I got food. The pizza is below average when compared to the other local offerings, the subs are a little better than happy house or subway. The main reason why I deducted stars was the gyro I got from there, it was disgustingly salty, maybe someone accidentally put 10x the normal salt but it was bad enough that I could only get down about two bites and had the throw the rest away. read more

Moderately good pizza....if you can get them to deliver in under 2 hours. I used to like this place but we will never use them again after horrible customer service. We ordered a pizza at 3:30pm, providing our phone number- they already had our address as they've delivered to us mentioned times, they told it to us and i confirmed it was correct. Over an hour and a half went by and nothing. When I called they told us "oh yeah, the driver came back 30 minutes ago because he didn't have your address". 1. They had it and 2. If they lost it, they had our phone number to call and ask us for it. .. which they didn't. I asked if the pizza would be cold when it arrived and the man said "well yeah, it was done almost an hour ago". So I asked if they wouldn't mind making a new one so it wouldn't be cold. He said "i mean... I'd have to ask......" then silence on his end. So I said, "well could you ask?" He huffed and went to ask. Meanwhile we start talking if we want to cancel- it'd be 2 hours by the time we got it and we were starving. Finally the guy comes back and I assume has heard us talking because he YELLS into the phone "WELL DO YOU WANT IT OR NOT! ?!?" At this point I lost my patience and say "yes, we wanted it.... AN HOUR AGO when it was supposed to be delivered!" I told him to forget it and hung up. The food is not good enough to compensate for the appallingly rude staff + an inability to cater to the customer when it's they're mistake. Do not recommend this place for delivery. Would recommend the owner train his staff to not yell at customers on the phone. read more

We used to order every month, my neighbor actually recommended this place. But it's been awful the last few experiences. Took an hour and a half to deliver our food last time, and the macaroni and cheese looked like EasyMac -REHEATED- in the microwave (very dry and old) with shredded cheese sprinkled on top (I guess to make it look fresh or homemade?). I could not finish my bite. The fries also tasted microwaved, had to throw that away as well. I can't order again. If those kind of shortcuts and cheap instant food are in the side orders, I feel ill wondering how the subs and pizzas are made. I'm sorry, but only 1 star. Their onion rings are awesome, if your body is ok with the grease (imo there is no point to eating onion rings unless you can handle the grease).
