I explained that I am self-employed, my income is not steady, and I do not receive my check until December 27. I also made it very clear that I have an 11-year-old child who is diabetic. She needs water to wash her hands and to safely check her blood sugar levels throughout the day. None of that mattered to them. They did not want to hear it. There was zero compassion -- just "pay or else." I was told there was absolutely no way around the $50 fee. No options. No understanding. Just payment. What makes this even more upsetting is that this same district recently sent out a letter stating there are water quality issues and that the water is not even healthy enough to drink. So somehow I'm expected to pay to be disconnected, pay again to be reconnected, and still receive unsafe water for my family and community? Despite all of this, I managed to gather the money and paid over $187 at 8:15 AM this morning. It is now almost noon (12 pm ) and my water is STILL not on. I paid what was demanded, yet my family is still without water. This experience makes it very clear that this corporation is not about serving the community -- it's about money, with no humanity, no flexibility, and no concern for families, children, or medical needs. Here is what unfolded recently ... My vacation home is a 150 miles away from my main home and I am hardly ever there. So I had to trust Ben completely when he said that he had replaced the well pump motor and that the well was now in good working order. Ben was not happy when I asked if it was okay to pay him in several days giving me time to verify the wells status. His previous temporary fix a week earlier didn't work at all, so I was a bit reluctant to pay this time without checking it out. Despite my hesitancy, he demanded that I pay him immediately via a credit card. So I paid in full based on what I believed was his honorable reputation. The well did work for a couple of watering cycles, but 2-3 weeks later it failed once again. Ben went out to investigate and stated that it was a minor issue and that he would fix it in couple weeks. About 2.5 weeks later, with temps close to 100 degrees and a lot of dying plants, I called Ashley his assistant to convey some urgency. She assured me that he would be out in a few days to make the repairs. Needless to say, he never showed up, nor were any of my increasingly desperate calls to his office ever returned.

We had two Cedar trees removed recently because of the plumbing damage they continued to cause on our property. The part of the sewer that is closest to our home was showing signs of needed repair. Several years ago Easy Rooter took care of the sewer line that was on the front side of our property. It's still working very well after 6 years. This time it wasn't a simple task to just dig up the dirt to access the sewer line. There was cement to remove, very large tree roots to remove, and old sprinkler pipes to remove. They replaced old plumbing that was connected to our laundry room and a bathroom. After scheduling for them to do the work a week in advance, they changed the schedule to accommodate us for the following day. The reason they did this was because our shower backed up that very night. Jonathan was at our home the next morning to discuss what they could do in full detail. I so appreciate that Jonathan took the time to spell out everything. When his employees arrived he introduced the guys who were going to do the work and then took them to where the work was to be done. I was pleasantly surprised that this whole job was done in one day! Jonathan has a kind and gentle demeanor. I can see why his employees bring that same attitude to work. Easy Rooter Plumbing and Drain Cleaning is the only company I will call because I can trust that they will do what they say they will do, they clean up everything and treat my home like it was their own. He fixed the leak, adjusted my shower knob and kitchen sink faucet which were very loose. I asked him about my poor water flow and he checked those out and made more adjustments. It was great that he gave me some tips to help minimize my need for a plumber in the future. When a business does that, I really can't ask for more. I am a bit of a handyman myself and it seemed like he really knew what he was doing the whole time. I also liked that he was the guy who took my call and also came to do all the work. Forget the horrible customer service. We have all come to expect that from a non-profit public…read moreagency. What makes Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District the worst is that they brag on their website that 2% to 5% of their customers get their service interrupted (water shut off) each month. That is approximately 13 to 15 thousand people each month have their water shut off. Why you might ask. So that they can charge a $500 deposit. See public utilities are supposedly regulated on what they can charge in California. But deposits and fines are not regulated. So when ever EVMWD needs extra revenue they start sending out shut off notice no matter if you are late or not. when you try to pay online the deposit and fines are already added to your bill before the date of shut off. You have to go into their office to pay and explain you are not late. It's should be illegal for them to do that. It's an addition 6 to 7 million dollars extra revenue for them. They know what they are doing. It's a scam because they are systematically forcing so many people into being late. Then the customers are forced into paying over a $1000 dollars to get their service turned back on. They love to send these notices at the end of the year right before the holidays. It's a big money grab and they should be investigated for this. They will say they are regulated by the Public Utility Commission. But that is only on what they can charge for their water and sewer rates. Not whether they are engaging in predatory practices by forcing customers into default.
