Walking into this established I felt like I was walking into a bad episode of "Do the Right Thing". If you haven't seen the movie check out the scene where Sal had a slice looking at the pictures on the wall. As soon as you walk in, you oddly greeted by a wall of fame of characters that have zero soul. Kind of ironic for an establishment that has soul food in the name. This should have been my first clue to turn back around but I am always in search of a place to circulate my dollars. Despite the subliminal greeting I proceed to order. The layout is cafeteria style with protein options and side. You pick one protein and two sides. Bam 30 bucks for a single plate of food that may have been on the line for some unknown time. I cautiously moved down the line ordering ribs, mac and cheese and beans. Also order the ox tails, mac and cheese and greens and two drinks. Grand total $71 bucks. Proceeded to take my first bite and immediately knew everything needed mama seasoning it seemed as if everything was under seasoned by design and wasn't cook for the people who might walk into the establishment. I was struggling to get through the plate when I got up to get a drink refill and noticed a random shoe (political) on the counter that represented a party that doesn't necessarily represent the people. When I asked about the shoe. One of the waitress confirmed what I thought. The owner of this establishment was not trying to attract people who build soul food but everyone else. Lesson learned. Do your homework before walking into a random place in the middle of nowhere where. Do the right thing and skip this place. They don't want our dollars. read more

We ordered our food through Door Dash and never received a notice that it was ready for pickup. My friend waited around an hour for it to be finished. When he came back we discovered that order was not correct. I had ordered the fried ribs with yams and baked beans, but received yams and Mac n cheese. We also ordered two peach cobblers, but only received one. I tried to call the store to let them know about the mistake so we could get it fixed, but I spent 20 minutes trying to call, because they wouldnot answer. A lady finally answered and was very short with me, I tried to request silverware be included but she hung up on me. My friend went back and got the food, but apparently they didn't have any cutlery. The prices versus the amount and quality of the food was ridiculous. The fried ribs were lacking in flavor. The baked beans tasted like smokey refried beans. My yams were definitely canned. Mac n cheese was okay. Ordered a side of corn bread and it had two small cupcake corn bread pieces that were super dry. No butter included. As for the peach cobbler, considering the price, it was total crap. Looked and tasted like something you would buy in a grocery store bakery. Wow what a sweet lady , the peach cobbler is absolutely unreal out of this world stuff , I mean it was made with Love and sugar!

The braised oxtail melted in my mouth - I had it over rice with sides of green beans and sweet potatoes. My husband loved the bbq ribs he chose, along with the collard greens and black-eyed peas. This review is for the best friendly and professionally service from Ettica today 11/2/24, she greeted me immediately with a smile a impeccable professionalism. I was undecided today and she took time to explain all the choices and my food was delicious. She also took time to go ask if something I wanted to be prepared with gravy could be done before I paid for an additional to go order. Later, about 20 mins later or so, she was told the order could not be done with gravy because there was no flour and came to tell me, so I requested a refund because I was not getting what I agreed and paid for. Ettica did her job, 100%, she gave me my refund and notified her boss. I am happy to report, that after I spoke up for Ettica, my to go food order was prepared to my satisfaction. I then repaid for my food satisfied as a frequent customer. This is how you get the issue resolved and thanks to the cook for stepping up to assist. This place is exactly what you need when you're making that long desert drive. Nice dining establishment . Clean restrooms. The food is buffet style . Dine in services are offered. They were a bit busy when I walked in . Customer service can be a bit better. The food is good. However, I had no gravy on my oxtails and rice. One side of my oxtails were tough from sitting up while the other side was tender soft fall off the bone . I wish the oxtails were bigger. I am not a huge yams person, however the yams were definitely 10/10. The mac & cheese was decent but the portion size was small . I paid around $38 for oxtails with two sides. read more

Was looking for a new experience on our road trip and love southern cooking. This is a Mom and Pop run place. It's mostly buffet, but not self-serve. The staff give you samples which was very helpful in choosing an entrée. Fish and okra are cooked to order but unfortunately they forgot to put the order in so we didn't get to try it. Since we already paid and had plenty other food to eat, they just added extra food to our dinners. They were very apologetic and nice About forgetting to fry our order. The cube steak and chicken and dumplings were delicious, as well as the mac & cheese. Was a little disappointed there was no cornbread or cobbler, but it was late afternoon and not yet dinner time.
