This place is definitely worth the hype! The pizza was super fresh and the service was very fast. I got seated with no wait Friday around noon & the pizza was out in like 10 mins, I swear. The pistachio is unique and flavorful! You can def make 1 'za into 2 meals as well. A positive experience overall. Glad I finally got to cross this place off my bucket list!
I can't believe I've not been to this place before, the food was sooo good! My friend and I were in the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. There was a waiting time as they were quite busy on a Sunday evening, but we could put our names down and explore the surrounding neighborhood. We ordered the Pistachio and Diavola to share. We did half and half for the pizzas, i.e. meat/ non-meat option. For my Diavola share of the pizza, I was able to replace pork with mushrooms. Both the pizzas were so delicious, we relished each and every bite! The pistachios pizza was my fav, especially the fior di latte cheese, so gooey and good! The place is definitely far from downtown but definitely worth a try! I was fairly impressed and wouldn't mind visiting again!
Another recommendation from our italian neighbors. Such a cute neighborhood spot with outdoor seating. Went right when it opened and the tables filled up quick. Pistachio pizza was SO GOOD never had pistachio sauce on pizza before. La regina was the special of the day, super bright and fresh with the sweetest cherry tomatoes, arugula, and buffalo mozzarella. With a drizzle of chili oil and sprinkle of chili flakes on every slice, this was easily some of the best pizza I've ever had. On par with coda di volpe.
Some of the best Neapolitan style pizza in Chicago. If you're really hungry, you can finish an entire pie on your own. It's super fast & servers are great with recommendations. Definitely go for one of their special pizzas if there's a feature. While they take reservations on the phone, you can definitely do a walk-in. If you go on a weeknight, higher chance in getting a table quickly. But even on the weekend, it's worth the wait.
I started with the Caiati wine, which was a very dark white with kind of a cider-y taste. Would probably try something different next time. For food, we started with the meatballs which was a special item and was actually really good. Five little meatballs with a good amount of sauce and pine nuts which gave them a fun flavor. The burrata was also really good. Very simple but still very tasty. Got the pistachio pizza again because it was so good the first time and it didn't disappoint. We also tried the ricotta special which also had mushrooms and as expected it was very cheesy, but the pistachio was definitely better.
We had dinner at Spacca Napoli tonight & it was incredible. It was busy for a Wednesday night but service was fast & friendly! We had the Margherita & the Salsiccia. The Salsiccia was the best pizza I've ever had. The sausage was like a warm hug. No notes!
This is one of our favorite pizza places in the city. They don't offer online reservations, but you could call to reserve a table or simply just show up. If you do end up showing up be prepared to wait for a table, but it's totally worth it as the pizzas are absolutely delicious. They have a huge selection to choose from plus lots of yummy appetizers. The ambience is great and also kid friendly! Don't miss out on their delicious desserts to finish your meal. Can't wait to go back! They don't offer valet but we've never had a hard time finding street parking.
Still so good! If you're in the mood for authentic Neapolitan style pizza, THIS IS THE PLACE. I honestly don't think any other place in Chicago comes close. That being said, reservations are essential (and only accepted over the phone), as they are packed even on weekdays. My current favorite is the Capricciosa pizza. Also, their arancini and desserts are delicious. I'd especially recommend the Peaches Vesuvio dessert ~ sooo good. Service is great and the ambience is casual but feels warm, inviting, and suitable for a casual dinner or even date night. There are also a lot of free parking spaces along Ravenswood Ave, and it's close to the Montrose Brown Line stop.
It was a surprise to find this local gem. There was a hub of activity on an otherwise quiet residential street. An out of town friend found it online so we went for Italian style thin pizza instead of deep dish pizza. When we arrived at 6pm on a Sunday, place was packed and already had a wait list going. Though they estimated 30-40mins, they were able to seat us in 10mins. They offered bread with a little baked onion and it was delicious. I could not turn away warm bread. We had the grilled asparagus with cream for appetizer. Portion was small, but I liked the blended nut cream. The pizza selections looked really interesting. I spread the cream on the bread. The pistachio sausage pizza was filling. We had tiramisu and panna cotta. I figured the tiramisu is a safe bet. I cannot tell what was missing, but it somehow was just ok. The parking on the side street was pretty simple. I would definitely return to try the other pizzas.
We booked well an advance to celebrate a birthday on a weekend. Our party of 6 was 3 who live in Chicago and 3 of us visiting (including myself). I was excited to try this place as my university Italian professor (originally from Italy) had spoken highly of their pizza but I never made it there before I moved out of state. Sadly, it was such a letdown that nothing positive about the pizza I tried is sticking with me. Maybe the recommendation was too outdated (over a decade ago) or maybe ordering the Conciato to try something unique was the totally wrong move. The Conciato had "smoked mozzarella, squash cream, toasted walnuts, and Conciato romano". The squash cream was more like a puree and the Conciato romano cheese was very pungent - approaching a blue cheese taste despite not being such. It overpowered everything else. The pizza was also not hot at all when it arrived at the table, making it somewhat dry considering no sauce. I ate 2 slices and had no desire to eat anymore. The service was really mediocre, honestly even sub-par as the server had walked away as someone in our party was ordering pinot grigio and he brought pinot noir and essentially blamed her. There was absolutely zero acknowledgement of the birthday. With all the great pizza in Chicago (including many Italian-style options), I wouldn't bother coming back here unless someone positively assured me that ordering a different pizza would leave me with a better impression.
Was up in Ravenswood for an appointment and finally decided to stop into Spacca Napoli after hearing great things. It's one of the higher-rated pizza spots in Chicago and they do Neapolitan-style, my favorite, so I had to try it. It's a nice sit-down restaurant, but since I wasn't really dressed for it, I grabbed my order to go. Super easy process, placed my order with the hostess in about 30 seconds, and even though she said 15-20 minutes, my pizza was ready in under five. Huge plus. Got the Diavola, my go-to style of Neapolitan pizza, and it was excellent. Heated it up a bit when I got home and it was perfect crispy, flavorful, and honestly about as authentic as anything I've had in Italy. No complaints at all. Between the fast service, great pizza, and overall vibe, Spacca Napoli is absolutely a must-try for Neapolitan pizza in Chicago. Can't wait to come back for a proper sit-down meal with friends next time.
This is a beautiful, comfortable and happy place! We made a reservation, but it wasn't needed at 5.30 on a Tuesday. (However, when we left, several people were waiting.) There is nice variety of vegetarian and meaty pizzas, but what a delight to find a pizza on the menu just waiting to thrill a vegan! The Marinara DOP has blended San Marzana tomatoes, piennolo tomatoes, oregano, and garlic and NO CHEESE! I added mushrooms, olives and a arugula and I got perfection! My husband enjoyed his Funghi e Salsiccia with blended tomatoes, sausage,mushrooms, basil and 2 kinds of cheese. We also split the Insalata Mista. It was just a simple and heavenly meal! Our server was helpful and nice and the staff all took very good care of us. You can enjoy their fine patio, too!
A delightful neighborhood place. Others have covered the pizza options well. Our favorite was the unusual pistacchio with crumbled sausage. It's very rich, but worth it. I would have liked more figs on the fig and prosciutto. We loved both of the daily specials we tried: a lemony kale salad and grilled asparagus with yummy walnut cream. I was expecting something like the cashew cream sauce you'd get at a vegan restaurant, but this was more like walnut baba ghanoush. Delicious! The room is pleasant and the servers got the job done. If it hadn't been crazy humid, we would have enjoyed sitting outdoors in the sidewalk cafe area.
How often does the opening act become greater than the main attraction? How often have you had an appetizer, unassuming at first glance, end up being so memorable that you've been instantly converted into a devotee? My answer is not often but it happened when I had the Burrata cheese ball at Spacca. Burrata is like a really soft mozzarella ball with a soft gooey center. Served with crisp and warm Italian or Sour dough bread and now your talkin!! Drizzled with a little olive oil and Parmesan and red chili flakes - served with a little red and - Mama Mia, where have I been?? So as you can tell I'm a big fan of their Burrata and don't get me wrong - the Vongole (clams) and Saliccia e Funghi (sausage, mushroom, ricotta) were great choices for our pizzas. The pizzas were light, airy and with a chewy crust. Dis ain't tavern style folks but it's quite good. I've tried to recapture that feeling by getting Burrata at Costco, Mariano's and Fresh Farms but it's just not the same. So I hope to be back soon and this time, I'll have to try Spacca's Pistachio pizza so That i can conduct a comparative analysis with Forno Rosso's. I'm digging this Napoletan style fo sho (for sure - North Shore peeps). read more

Absolutely amazing pizza! We love the pistachio one recommended by our waiter, the dough is chewy, the sauce is so creamy yet still nutty, and add a few drops of chili oil, chef's kiss! That one worths the wait! They told us it's gonna be an hour's wait but actually only took 30min. The vibe is very homey, good place for a date or friend gathering! read more

The burrata appetizer was so good! Our waiter was attentive and the bus staff was quick to clear dirty dishes. Our party of five ordered four different pizzas. Capricciosa, Fiorentina, Pistacchio, Salsiccia e Broccolletti. The table decided the Pistacchio was the best, and all the others were very good! The restaurant is spacious and comfortable. It is a place that feels like a spot where you can enjoy a group outing over some tasty pizza. read more
One of the best pizza spots in the city! I think I love it so much for the dough it's so perfectly chewy with a bite to it and the also nice and thin. We tried the Diavola and a seasonal special and both were delicious! The seasonal special really shocked me by how good it was, I wasn't expecting it so they're worth a try even if the combination sounds a bit odd. Spacca Napoli is the best. The restaurant is located in the quiet Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. Surrounded by trees, a nice relaxing calm sweeps over you as you approach the restaurant. There's plenty of outdoor seating, and everyone seems to be enjoying the food. Once you step into the restaurant, it feels like you've been transported to Naples. It's beautiful, and you'll be drawn into the interior. The staff is super friendly. They always have plenty of specials as well. The food is great. The burrata is soft and fresh. The pizzas are perfectly cooked. Crunchy, yet soft on the inside. Excellent combinations for toppings as well. On a recent visit, we had the pistachio pizza. Mozzarella, pistachio, and sausage. It was a lovely sweet pizza. Nicely balanced, and finished with Basil. The basil adds that extra dimension to the sweetness of the pistachio to keep your palate engaged. read more

Yup this is a solid place for a nice authentic Neapolitan style dinner. Whether you dine inside or al fresco, you can't be wrong either way. Make a reservation, have some sparkling water and wine with your selections to enjoy yourself. The service was great along with the recommendations. The easy route is to order a pizza per person and share. Everything was fresh and amazing! Parking is limited but not impossible. Came here for my birthday with the family and had a great time and a great meal! Each pizza is about 10", so if you go with a large group, I definitely recommend getting a few and splitting them. We started with the burrata and the insalata eoliana. The bread that comes with was delicious, and the burrata was beautifully creamy. The dressing on the salad was excellent and light. We got four pizzas: margherita, funghi e salsiccia, prosciutto e rucola, and pistacchio. All were delicious. The server recommended the whole grain crust with the prosciutto, and while still good, it probably would have been better with the regular crust. The funghi was delicious, and the sauce on the margherita was heavenly. The server was great and efficient, and checked in just the right amount of time. The only frustrating thing was the table next to us had an incredibly loud individual at it, to the point where we had to repeat ourselves to our own group multiple times to be heard over him. That, however, was not the server's fault. The place was packed, and I would definitely recommend getting a reservation before you go. Parking was relatively easy, as it's Ravenswood. #Pizza ! I'm ashamed to admit it took me 14 years of living in #Chicago before I made it to one of the best in the city. If you are looking for #Neopolitan style pizza, go no further than this classic establishment in Ravenswood! Legit one of the best pizzas I have ever had!! Pizzas range from about $17 to $21 so pricing is very on par with many similar style pizza joints. The service is amazing here. Our waiter had been there for over 15 years and gave great recommendations for pizza. Highly recommend the Diavola, and a special pizza with Pancetta ( forgot the name). These pizzas take about 7-8 minutes to bake in the oven so super quick! Ambiance is really casual and they are always busy, but people are really enjoying themselves there read more

Crazy good Neapolitan pizza? Great wine list? Outdoor seating? Great staff? If you're hanging around Ravenswood, this place is a must visit. We didn't have to wait long for a table outside and they were pretty busy. The service was a bit slow, but again, they were busy so we understood. There's nothing quite like sipping a crisp white wine outside with friends and devouring a tasty pizza. If you're an indoors person, they have great seating inside. We recommend the burrata (it's soft and creamy and lovely). If you want a pizza recommendation, I can't give it, because all their pizzas are great. We'll be back! read more

A wonderful pizzeria in Ravenswood that has a pizza menu for everyone! Regardless of your preferences, the restaurant is very accommodating. Of the menu items, you have to try the imported burrata with crostini as well as the desserts. The service is fantastic, and even without a reservation they are very accommodating for walk-ins. The wait will usually be 45-1 hr but is definitely worth it. Once inside the tables have a timed limit of 90 minutes but the service is rapid and will not disappoint. The setup reminds you of the small diners in Naples, and is very much reminiscent of Italy. The lighting accentuates a brown background to create a wonderful dining experience. Ended up here quite by accident on a Saturday evening, and was hopeful we would be able to get in. Despite not having a reservation and there being a wait, we somehow got right in. woohoo! Started our meal with cocktails and arancini (one of my faves!) and they did not disappoint. We opted for the pizzas from the specials menu because it just sounded so interesting with lamb, mint, sunchokes, etc. and it was delicious. The crust is absolutely perfect as well! Wonderful service throughout the meal (Thank you, Chris!), although I will just mention perhaps they could not take the plates right out from under you when you have literally just put your last bite on your fork and are on the way to your mouth.I was so shocked I was speechless! Every time I come back here I'm frustrated and reminded why I don't eat here often. I really want to like Spacca more than I do. Some of the dishes are very good, but the service is poor--sometimes verging on bad--and their reservation process in this day and age is just stupid. You can't make reservations online. You can't get on the waitlist unless you're in person. They don't quote wait times accurately. Even when I called to inquire about availability (which they didn't have that evening) I asked about the waitlist and was quoted a 45 minute wait and needed to be *in person* to put my name in. I can basically walk across the entire city in that time! Why can't I get on the list over the phone? Then they called back on my walk over and created confusion about my table being ready despite me never having put my name in according to their rules. Then when I arrived to get on the waitlist they actually had seats and sat us right away. What was a 45 minute wait was actually not 40...not 30...not even 20 or just 10 minutes...ZERO MINUTES. That's great! But also... ...just get on Resy, OpenTable, Yelp, or whatever digital reservation and waitlist system. It's 2023. Good grief. The service is never good, and our recent visit was frustrating: we basically never saw our server and any time he came around he was in a big hurry. Horrible. The food is all pretty solid, but there are plenty of other Italian and pizza places across the city I prefer. The burrata is massive and delicious, probably the best one I've had. If you want just a big serving of burrata on some good bread, this is the one. The pizza is good, but I have a hard time recommending given the other really great pizza places in the city even just within the Neapolitan pizza space (I'm NOT talking about deep dish). The dessert options overall are pretty great. If you can leave space, I recommend doing so and trying some of them. The tiramisu was pretty good, the nocciola is a chocolatey calzone basically, and if I recall correctly the panna cotta is my personal favorite. read more
Definitely a top contender for if not the best Neapolitan style pizza in Chicago. High quality ingredients, perfect crust, simple, amazing. We started with the eggplant parm and the arancini, both tasty though the arancini was a bit bland for me. Then on to the main event. We shared the Bufalina, the Diavolo, and the Prosciutto pies. All fantastic, Bufalina was the fan favorite. Good service, good wine, and warm friendly ambiance. Worth a visit even if you don't live nearby. read more

Came here today with some friends, it has been pretty hyped up. The only weird thing I thought was they don't have any diet soda products (I'm a skinny queen). Fast service overall. We got the burrata appetizer, Margherita, diavola, pistachio, and prosciutto pizzas. Everything was really good! The burrata was creamy and delicious, especially after I added a little bit of pepper and salt. The margherita was delicious with a perfect sauce to cheese ratio. The pistachio was my buddy's favorite, definitely different flavor and pretty cheesy. The prosciutto was good, the arugula added a nice tart flavor to the pizza. The diavola was also good, was actually my favorite. The crust for each pizza was nice and soft and tasted great especially after being dipped in the provided chili oil. The pizza was good, I'm much more of a crispy thin crust fan myself, but if you like what I think is authentic Italian style, this place is solid. read more

Neat spot to grab some authentic Italian pizza. Staff was really good about enforcing COVID guidelines, from cleanliness to the layout of the indoor dining and pick up area. Enjoyed the ambience, though tables were small especially when the pizzas were served. Diavola was great!! Pizzas are loaded with toppings and dough was good, just thinner than anticipated. Personally, red base pizza was tastier than white. 2 pizzas for 3 people seemed like a good portion. After all that, the tartufo was by far one of the most delicious desserts I've had. The custard filling was a treat and each bite just melts in your mouth. While my friend, fiancé, and I were butchering the food names on the menu, we ended up mentioning burrata. A cute couple close by highly recommended it, saying it was the best in chicago and straight from Italy. No regrets! read more

I had the Burrata and Funghi Pizza and both were excellent. Spread some of the burrata on the pizza to make it even better. Springtime drinks were tasty. It was crowded, but the servers were very attentive. Lovely place in the heart of Lincoln Park. read more

I went here last night since this place has been on my list to try. Made a reservation the same day which was easy by phone. We arrived 20 minutes early and they still took us when we arrived. I had the Margherita pizza and caprese for an app. They are definitely pricey but their service was good and the food was delicious so I'd definitely recommend! As a note, I was there in an orthotic boot since I tore my Achilles' tendon and the staff was very kind and held the door open for me. I appreciate it! read more

Spaces Napoli Pizzeria has been a spot I been wanting to give a try for the last few months. I finally got to give it a try with one of my friends. What I will say is, it was worth the wait! Let me get into it! The food was amazing pizzas tasted soo fresh. I would highly recommend the grilled octopus as it comes with bread. And the cola that is from Italy! The color is not like American cola. The taste is even better than the American version. The pizzas were great the char on the bottom of the pizza has great taste. I did with the pizza was a little more crispy in the center though. The service was great our waiter really knew the entire menu and offered his favorites which indicated to my friend and I that he was very passionate about his job! The atmosphere or ambiance like I call it, was great I like how layout was very open and the flow was good from entrance to when you leave. And plenty of room for table to table. Overall, I will say give SNP a try if you want great Italian style pizza and very welcoming experience. read more

**Vegetarian Friendly** If you're looking for a cute family-owned place with a great Italian feel, this is the place! It's a fairly large indoor restaurant with plenty of outdoor dining with string patio lights. My favorite part was the owner went around and said greeted his guests. You can tell this business is the owner's passion. Ordered: - Antipasta: Burrata and Arancini del Giorno - Pizze: Margherita, Diavola, Enzo - Dessert: Tartufo The table enjoyed the Burrata because it was seasoned well and you had the chance to absorb all of the flavors. The pizza is very thin just like you would get in Italy. The table favorite was the Margherita, but their Daily Specials are worth browsing too! I would recommend this place, and definitely be back! This place is a gem. Our second time here and won't be our last. We ordered the Fiorentina and Margherita - both were delicious. The pizzas are thin so they were ready fairly quickly, but not crispy in the center. For dessert, we had the Tartufo and I would order it each time I come back here. Highly recommend reservations on the weekend as we had reservations and still had to wait up to 10 minutes for our table to be ready. read more

Spacca Napoli è il mio ristorante preferito tra tutti i ristoranti da Chicago! We have been going to SN for years. The superior quality of the food/ingredients, the attention to detail, and the knowledgeable servers elevate this restaurant above all other pizzerias in my estimation. Five years ago, my husband and I moved from Chicago to the food-centric city of Portland, OR. In those 5 years, we have tried all of the "recommended" pizza restaurants, including Lovely's 50/50 (of Chef's Table Pizza fame), hoping and praying to find a comparable Portland substitute, but despite our efforts I can tell you with100% certainty that none hold a candle to Spacca Napoli's creations. Last weekend, we returned to Chicago to visit family (and it happened to be my birthday, as well), so I requested a long-overdue visit to SN. I admit that I feared it may not live up to my vivid memories; however, I can happily report that, in fact, it exceeded my expectations! My personal favorite pizza (still) is the Capricciosa w/prosciutto, artichokes (prepared by hand, NOT from a can!), olives, fior di latte, mushrooms and San Marzano tomatoes. With the perfectly chewy, bubbled crust, it is pure perfection. (Although every one of their pizzas is outstanding.) Another of my favorite dishes is the polpo e fagioli antipasti -- perfectly tender grilled octopus tossed with white beans, fingerling potatoes, tomatoes, olives, red onion, celery and EVOO. It's my goal in life to learn how to make grilled octopus just like this! I don't know when I will have the opportunity to get back to Chicago again, but you can be sure that, when I do, I will be making another pilgrimage to il mio amato ristorante, Spacca Napoli. read more
This is a damn good pizza! I was very impressed and loved every bite! We came here on a weekday and the place was PACKED. The whole experience is awesome, it's such a lively place with so much energy. The service is also quick and our server was very attentive. He told us which side of the menu has white sauce and which side had red sauce for the pizza so we ended up ordering one from each side. We got the Funghi pizza which was delicious and also the Fiorentina which was also delicious! The pizzas are on thinner side. I definitely wanna come back after lent so I can try some of their meat options! read more

Does Spacca Napoli offer non-dairy cheese as an option for pizza? If so, what is it made out of? (soy, almond, etc.)
Is there a takeout option?
Probably but this is not the type of pizza you want for takeout unless you were going to be eating in minutes anyway. Neopolitan pizza is only baked for 60-90 seconds and you want that crust perfect. It is about both flavor and texture.
