Where everybody knows your name. A locally owned family bar that is a nice place to wind down and relax with the working Joe's and Josephine's of New Rochelle. Not fancy, but comfortable. The jukebox has a great selection. The burgers are very tasty. There is something about being able to walk into a joint sit down, have a pint or two and strike up a good conversation. The bar tenders are friendly and keep you happy with a generous pour. They have games on the monitors, but if you are looking for a raging loud sports bar scene this is not the place. Very nice place, nice crowd, but the worst service I've ever seen in the USA. Totally understaffed, I stood for 15 minutes at the bar waiting for a bartender to order drinks and food. They never helped me and even didn't ask if I wanted something. A waitress saw that I was trying to order something. She asked where I was and said that she would come, but never came. Lots of of TVs but weird Crowd looked like a bunch of random people that didn't know each other weird for a sports bar during football season. old school sports bar in new rochelle that keeps it simple with its plain interior decor but nothing plain about the food and atmosphere which are both great. the prices for booze and food is more then reasonable with the grilled chicken sliders with thin fries my favorite but if burgers , wings, chili, nachos, salads , wraps, etc is what you crave then order away cause its on the menu. i came a few times during the nfl football season and crowds were not as big due to covid but the square shape bar area was filled with regulars as bartender seemed to know everyones name. some high tables and chairs to the right and booth like seating to the left and plenty of tvs around for clear viewing of all the games . our server kelly is the best taking care of us and other guests without skipping a beat and she recommended the chicken sliders which makes her awesome in my book. with iona college not having students in person attending class, college nights at spectators was canceled which was a bummer cause i would of love to see young adults make a fool of themselves after having a few beers .overall a great sports bars to watch the games and grab a bite and oh yeah get your drink on. read more

This has been my watering hole since I'm a kid. Steve and Gary run a great operation and no, the crowd isn't a weird crowd. It is a regulars bar and the kind of place you can go without knowing a sole and leaving like you just met your best friends for life. Note: this review was from an event that happened in February but I just got Yelp. I'm searching through bars in New Rochelle and remembering the treatment my friends and I received led me to write this Okay, so I went to Spectators before because I was new to the area and didn't know where to go. The mozzarella sticks are to die for and I was happy. Sure there was a guy harassing me and kept inviting me to his hotel but I was able to take care of myself. I slipped out and ran off. So I invited my friends along with me to come there for drinks. We had fun, we drank and then it came time to pay. The bartender separated our checks all wrong but we solved the problem by pooling our money together to pay. I'd like to note we also included more than a 20% tip. The bartender gave my friend the wrong change. Now my friends and I were not sober but able to tell the bartender we got the wrong change. The bartender denied it and went along his way. My friend got angry and told him to please give us proper change. It's not enough that we were treated poorly by the bartender but by a group of "bros" who told us we needed to calm down and we were deemed "bitches". I had enough and asked for the manager. The owner of the bar comes out and takes stock of some women in his bar and automatically sides with the bartender. I calmly explained the problem and while he made it seem like he was placating us the bartender slammed the correct change down and said "okay, fine, here" no apology, nothing. If you are a woman who enjoys being told how hysterical you're being when you point out missing money then be my guest and go. But tonight I'm going to the bar and NOT giving my money to this place. read more

The Shittiest Bar I've Ever Been Too. Spectators is shady beyond belief. Not too long ago, I was visiting from out of state to see a group of friends who lived in the area. We decided to have a low key night and go to Spectators for a drink or two and then figure out the next move from there. It was a Saturday night and upon walking in, there were about ten people in the entire bar, with the most depressing atmosphere I've ever seen. Our group started presenting our IDs to the bartender, however when they got to mine there was an issue. Keep in mind that at the time I was 24, and the only person in the group from out of state. They took my ID and said it was fake. Again, I was 24 and the second oldest in the group of eight people... We started having a back a forth when they took my ID, went into the back and ran it through some "special machine", which sent reg flags to everyone in my group, including my buddy, the oldest, whose a very experienced bar tender himself. Even he had no idea what they were talking about. They came back and some half drunk "owner" or "manager" or whoever decides to pull me aside, and tries intimidating me, saying things like "this is illegal" and "I'm a cop and this is a felony". Again... me... being 24... called his bluff and told him to call the police, and as soon as I did that, he pulled back, and started saying "I'll give this back to you if...". The cherry on top of all this is that I've been to Spectators before (about a year earlier), where they had no issue with my ID then, meaning that if I really was underage during this story, then they had served a minor in the past. The moral of this long winded story is, if you're from out of state, stay away from this place. The people here are shady as hell and all around shitty. Looking back, who knows what they were really doing with my ID in the back, or what they would have done with it had I not called their bullshit bluff. Stay. Away. read more

I am appalled at the level of discrimination I faced at this bar Saturday evening. The bartenders refused to accept my card many times as they assumed it would be denied. There policy of paying an entrance fee but not letting you come back in if you go out to smoke a cigarette is ridiculous. Possibly the worst thing is all the underage teenagers they let in. Seeing her post prompted me to comment as this seems like a recurring pattern for at least one of the staff. I had the pleasure of visiting Spectators before AND after attending a wedding in New Ro (we came here between the church and reception and then after the reception). This place is totally DIVEY. It has almost no decor, but that's really part of its charm. This is just a plain old neighborhood place to chill. It's pretty spacious with the bar right smack in the middle, so there are plenty of seats, which I like! Also, there seems to be a very diverse bunch of patrons ranging from old men to urban folks.. and everyone seems to get along. The early evening crowd is obviously a little more tame than the late night crowd. I found the service to be good - bartenders were friendly (both the older gentleman between 4-6 and the other bartenders from midnight on!). read more

Excellent bar in New Rochelle. I have been to quite a few in the area and can honestly say that Spectators is a great place to hang out with the crew. They host the Westchester Dart League tournament every Tuesday night. Great place to practice your dart skills, get a drink, and some wings. I recommend the hot barbecue sauce for the wings - they are excellent. Burgers and fries are really good. TV and projector are available. The staff have always been friendly. Good vibes here. Tall Skinny Bald Bartender is a thief!!!! I went here with a friend on Sat night 9/29/18 and bought two beers. My tab was $12 and I left a $4 tip on the card. I saw on my credit statement that I was charged the $12 and then there was a $100 charge on my account from this bar as well! I of course will be disputing this charge but people should know what type of people work here. I hope the owner fires this person immediately. read more

Best Pub in New Rochelle. Usually arrive between noon and 3 and out by 7pm. The TV show "Cheers" had to have been patterned from this bar. I'm from out of town and felt so welcomed here.
