HORRIBLE: I've been a regular customer here for a few months and regularly order delivery, which has gone fine in the past. My delivery order today came with an unexpected guest. I found a live bug/insect in my food. When I called to explain the situation, the 2 options given to me were 1) refund and they will send someone to pick up the food, or 2) replace the order with no refund. This was very inconvenient for me as my job does not allow me to take lunch whenever. It would have been more appropriate for this business to send another order free of charge (with or without a refund), or offer credit to be used towards a future order. When I brought this up and requested to talk with a manager, I was told the manager is telling me I have only those 2 options initially presented to me. Bad customer service, live bug in food, plenty of other good Thai places around here. Will take my business elsewhere. They could have retained a customer with a simple fix. Instead they earned a bad yelp review and lost a customer (who used to regularly order for herself and for her colleagues). read more

Pretty happy about my experience here. All along Ventura Thai places are a dime a dozen. It's rare to have an extraordinary experience. Spicy Lime is the exception. The place was immaculately clean with fresh paint on the walls and I'm nice simple modern ambience. The staff was extremely courteous and I'm very skeptical about ordering anything beef at a Thai place but I went ahead and tried and I will say that their beer selection was very good. I'm excited because this place is only two blocks away and I will definitely come back. I'm so tired of Thai places that are dirty, this place is fastidiously clean, that makes me feel very happy bc then I know the kitchen is also clean. read more

Visiting Spicy Lime was definitely a one and done experience. I had the chicken curry lunch special and you pretty much needed a microscope to see the food. The curry was super watered down and there were probably 2-4 ounces of small pieces of chicken in the soup sized cup it comes in. I don't generally count my food but there were so little carrots and potato that I counted them out of curiosity and found there were literally 2 small pieces of carrot and 2 specs of potato. The curry was just nothing special as far as taste. I asked for mild yet it was burning my mouth. The salad came with some brown dressing that did not have a good flavor and didn't taste like anything I could recognize. Maybe it was some weird take on balsamic? The two wonton pieces were soaked in a syrupy sweet artificial tasting orange sauce. I basically spent $15 and left hungry and trying to get gross tastes out of my mouth. The service was minimal. My order was taken, my food was plopped down and my check was given and that was it. The server was also coughing into her hand and not using anything to sanitize her hand as she kept on taking orders and handling plates which was really gross and concerning. I left there hoping I wouldn't get sick from the food and the server. Just an overall unappetizing experience and I will not return. read more

Don't bother with this place. Quality of food Is disappointing . I ordered the Crispy fried chicken based off the photos. First bite into the chicken to my surprise was rubbery. Imitation chicken! Yuck! one of my co-workers got the curry chicken, that wasn't much better. What a waste of money. Fried rice had some what of a decent flavor,Overloaded with huge chunk of vegetables. This is one of the best Thai food restaurants I have ate in in a while. I love there lunch specials only about $12 for salad, and entree. There sweet and sour sauce is tangy and sweet. They give you healthy portions. The staff is great. I give it nothing but thumbs up. Even though they always charge me $2 dollars for the extra big sauce. It still quality food. read more

The food here is good and full of flavor. I have been here a couple of times. It's been yummy enough to have me come back when I'm craving Thai food and I'm in the area. Unfortunately, I was very upset when I ordered delivery from here for myself and my coworkers. Their prices are too expensive for what we got. I ordered their pad see ew, larb, Tom Kha and egg rolls. When our food arrived we were disappointed to find that their portions are way too small and we spent a total of about $60 dollars. Another down side was the fact that the delivery man was very persistent about his tip which I was gladly going to give him but it was the first thing he asked for when walking into our office. Super fast service. Their Pad Thai is the most delicious I've had anywhere. Everyone I take here agrees that it's the best Pad Thai in the city. The family that runs the restaurant is super nice, and they work hard to get your food out very fast. When I order to-go, the food is wrapped in tin foil so it stays very hot, and it was ready in ten minutes. It's usually very quiet, so it's a great spot to relax or have a conversation (business, or otherwise). read more

I just moved to Encino and have been trying out various restaurants. So far this one has been my favorite. I ordered the yellow curry and spicy Thai chicken entree and both were super tasty. The entree was perfect, the sautéed onions and peppers were crispy and so flavorful I could just eat those all day. Chicken pieces are quality and plentiful. The curry was also great. I find that it's hard to mess up yellow curry but I've seen places undercook the potato or not get the curry creamy enough but these guys did a great job. Overall very happy to have this in my neighborhood and I'm going to become a regular here. read more

I love the food tbh but the thing is, every time I come to this store the old lady the one who took the order is always RUDE. She's kinda like racist too. She's nice when there's white customer and the last time I ordered from them, I ask them nicely if they can do no salt on my noodles because my dad doesn't like any salt, she yell at me that if I want sauce or salt? I said no salt please, she just turn back to me and talk to the people in the kitchen and talk in Thai then the people in the kitchen they rolled their eyes on me. I ask for extra vinegar, I paid for $5 for extra vinegar. The other vinegar that I got that comes with the steamed fish, it's almost gone. So disappointing! This place is out of their minds. I ordered $130.00 worth of food for delivery for my office and staff. After an hour in a half I contacted the restaurant and asked them what is going on what's the delays ??? Their response ... " sorry the driver left a while ago and has some other deliveries before yours." So basically you're going to let my 12 dishes that I ordered to stay in the car while your driver delivers to several other people first. Yah, uh no. Have tried quite a few local Thai restaurants and haven't had much success. Our friend, who is thai, recommended Spicy Lime Thai. We ordered in when his family was over and everything was delicious!! Nothing was overly oily, all items had a nice kick to it (even the mild but SO good)! The papaya salad was AMAZING!! I wouldn't come back to this place if they paid me to. It's suppose to be super convenient because its next door to my office but the place is messy. The restaurant if you dine in will make your hair smelling like the kitchen. The staff smiles but they don't speak English so your order will come out wrong. The best thing is the curry but under new management the recipe has gone down the drain. Any other Thai restaurant will do. I tried calling in the order an hour ahead of time and they still couldn't get together. I needed to wait 15 mins for them to pretend like they were busy but I don't think the person that took my order remembered. They gave me a free iced Thai tea for my troubles. I'm at the front now trying to pay and the guy at the register is arguing with an old lady about the bill. We are not back in Thailand. read more

From the 4 star reviews, I expected to LOVE it since in the past I have gone to 4 star locations recommended by other reviewers on Yelp and was very happy. This was not the case this time... Food seemed fresh, service was decent when came to pick it up, restaurant was clean. The food seemed a bit bland to me.. under seasoned. I asked for spice level hot, and it was very hot! which I love, though the rest of the flavor was pretty much gone.. so there was not a good balance there.. All in all, I gave it a 3 star review because it was not terrible and I did eat it since I was very hungry. I probably wont be back though because I felt that the seasoning was underwhelming, and it could have had stronger flavors to match the Thai cuisine. read more

2nd time I've ordered from them. First time got exactly what I wanted. Second time, I ordered almost the same thing. I got "sticky rice" which in the picture shows mango- so I assumed that since I got it last time WITH mango, it would come again with mango. It didn't. And honestly, this is why I ordered food tonight instead of just cooking at home. I got the fresh shrimp spring rolls and the shrimp was undercooked--and I'm pregnant which made it worse when I realized what I ate. Didn't follow order notes to add chicken to the curry--instead they added tofu. The curry came with the tiniest box of rice and the Pad Thai was flavorless and soggy. Expected higher food quality. I've been to Spicy Lime a handful of times, including using their delivery service. Every time, the food has been fresh, flavorful and portion appropriate! My favorite dish from here is the pad see ew at medium spicy. I've tried the garlic chicken and gyoza which were also delightful. The service here is also great as the waitstaff are not just attentive but kind and easygoing. The set up is cute and simple; there is ample space for any sized party. My only complaint, which doesn't warrant less stars, is that it's a tad hot in this restaurant. I like to be comfortably cool when I eat hot and spicy food and I wish the AC was turned up a bit more. Great spot for lunch! Check out the papaya salad and Thai coleslaw (both are really light and very tasty) and then treat yourself to the house made coconut ice cream - you're worth it. The curries are amazingly complex and delicious, blooming with fragrant herbs and spices, and the way they cook the chicken/duck/pork makes it melty and savory at once, and truly delectable.
