We recently moved to the area and I had purchased a discount deal so thought we should check this place out. We went here for lunch on a weekday and were greeted immediately. I am happy to see they have Coke products here. We were also brought free chips and salsa to start. The salsa was great. It was very flavorful and spicy hot!! Not for the weak. I ordered the taco combo plate which gave me 5 street tacos of any of their meat options for $10 - a great deal! I got carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas. My favorite was the al pastor. They were very filling. I ended up taking 2 of them home for later and they were still good heated the next day. My husband got the super burrito. It was huge and he really liked it. We will definitely be back. So far this is the best place we have found for Mexican in Brighton. read more

I've been in Colorado for 8 months, and tried many Mexican places since I've been in this state. You can't walk a block without running into another "family Mexican restaurant "...blah blah blah blah. This place is so unassuming I've driven past it several times and thought to myself, yep, I'll try it sooner or later. This is literally the best Mexican food I can recall ever having in the states!!! Holy cow. I had the fish tacos. Hubs had the alambres supreme. Both were so delicious. Seared meats, fresh veggies, the corn tortillas are legit. Salsa is spicy and so good you can't stop! They also serve alcohol if you want, and have a cute patio for outdoor eating. One of our all time favs! Although I have been in Colorado over a decade now I continue to look for mexican food like my New Mexico roots, go NMSU Aggies! Spicy Tacos is the best I have found up here. The food and service are consistently exceptional. We go at least once a month if not more and have only had one server that was so/so. The owner is a very nice guy and his children work in the restaurant. My husband got the sopes with shredded beef and I got the 5 tacos, 2 carnitas, 2 el pastor and a carne. Everything tastes great and wasn't smothered in green chile. I heard from my family that this was the "place" for some great Mexican food. Upon arrival, the restaurant was not busy, just a single large party in main restaurant. We were sat down, handed menus, and brought chips and salsa. To begin with chips were stale, no flavor, and had an off-putting flavor. The salsa tasted like ketchup with sparse tomato and onions chopped in. No real flavor. I did ask for a "spicier" salsa and after a little wait I was brought what was best resembled of Enchilada sauce. Disappointing at best. The waitress who took our order seemed to be new or slow to take our order. My mother ordered the two item combo (taco and enchilada) brother ordered the wet deluxe burrito, and I ordered the supreme combo (Taco, Burrito, Chili Relleno) which was to come with Chichirones (and didn't) I also asked for the spiciest salsa in the kitchen (and it didn't come with any). I will say that the rice was cooked perfectly. Nice texture, simple Mexican style rice. He refried beans tasted a bit watery, with lazy of flavor. Taco was a hard shell set on plate which soaked up the grease and salsa (causing the taco to fall apart when you picked it up for the first time) the burrito had the same watery beans which was a bit of a disappointment, but the Chili Relleno was surprising good. A deep-fried version. Good flavor and texture. Over all, I was satisfied with the food but I will say that the claim for this place was to be the best in the area, but I found it to be similar to a basic fast food style (Taco Bell) or a slight let down. Would I come back? Ultimate question... sure. Would I order the same thing? Nope. Would I recommend this place? Maybe. But it would come with a disclaimer. If you are around the area, want a simple none wow moment of food, stop in. It could have been an off day, but first impressions are not great for me here. But I say try it for yourself. read more

I love everything about this Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa are perfect to start off with. Their margaritas are just sweet enough. I love their crispy rellenos and shrimp tacos. The shrimp and vegetables are grilled well and give a slight smoky flavor. Their location is in a business park and out of the way, but the ambience is good and the servers are pleasant and attentive. The food usually comes quite quickly. Wow, what a great place! You know the old saying, "When you walk into a place and you're the only..." You know the rest. Honest to God, there was a guy in there that looked like an older Pancho Villa. Anyway, the first thing you notice when you walk in is how much is does not look like a strip mall Mexican joint. Tile floors, stonework, wood beams. It's just a really comfy place! Honestly, I didn't spend very much time looking at the menu because one of the other patrons had an order of tacos and they looked great, so I knew exactly what I was going to order. I ordered three - carne asada, carne adovada, and al pastor. Man were they good! My favorite was carne adovada, but again, they were all great! Their salsa didn't disappoint either - we brought a pint home. There were also two other salsas that came with the tacos (green and smoky red) which were excellent as well. This is the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in a very long time and there's no doubt that I'll be back! read more

We had a very unpleasant experience here while celebrating a special occasion with our son. My husband ordered a tostada that was nearly inedible. He suspects the mystery meat used may have been cat food. I ordered bacon wrapped shrimp and suffered from unforgettable heartburn and indigestion after eating. Normally, I wouldn't leave a review of a restaurant unless it exceeds my expectations( they have a decent rellano); however, the danger is too great. May 16, my wife and I tried Spicy Tacos for the first time. It was good and we charged the cost to our credit card. I have no evidence beyond having my card later frozen and unusable. Seems that on May 16, over $1000 charges from all across the country were put to my card before it was frozen. Well over the credit limit, even! After clarifying which were MY(only) charges and which were unauthorized with my bank, the bank managed to cancel the fraudulent charges. Again, I have no definitive evidence and I hardly use my credit card, but the coincidence is too great to not warn people. PAY IN CASH! read more

Lasr night I was over charged my tab, when I asked about it, she said they would review the cameras. She never returned. 15 mins later with no response, we then asked for a Manger. But he was in the restroom. With no help or response out of the staff, I deducted the overcharge out of the tip. Thats when we were asked never to come back to Spicy Taco. The food is really, really good here. My girls got chicken fingers and they must have been Tyson ones or such as they were really good. Got to take home left overs for lunch the next day! And my husband had the burrito that was on special; loved it, and I got chicken enchiladas with cream sauce (had little bits of jalapenos); also loved it! They also have really good marg's at $3.00 each during happy hour. Our server was great! We went here last Sunday, the morning after we went to our friends housewarming party. I was suffering a hangover of EPIC proportions, I mean, people, that I was sweating Crown Royal out of EVERY pore in my body. And it didn't help that they were BLASTING Mexican music so loud it made my hair hurt. Rather than stick with the basics, as I normally would when trying a place for the first time, I decided to shoot the works with the "STEAK TAMPIQUENO", because the picture on the menu was pretty, and I felt that a generous helping of steak, accompanied by a relleno and an enchilada, was just the thing to soak up some of that residual alcohol. Wrong. Relleno was soggy and flat, chili inside was decidedly undercooked. No green sauce that I could tell. Enchilada was blah and tasteless. Guacamole was turning brown, hadn't even been stirred up to mask it's less-than-freshness, didn't even try a bite, it looked so bad. Steak, however, was tasty and grilled to about a medium, a little overcooked, but, hey, still edible. I ended up making some tacos out of it, along with some beans and slices of the accompanying roasted jalapeno and green onions, and THAT, friends, is why I gave these guys THREE stars instead of two. I guess I could give these guys another try and see if a taco plate is better, but honestly, I probably won't. 'Cause that kid might be back. read more

Sooo yummy! We are always on the look out for a great Mexican restaurant. Being Hispanic I'm a bit picky. Food is delicious and authentic. The soft street tacos are amazing. I also had the bacon wrapped shrimp plate..my FAV! Add a margarita and you have a winner. If you sit on the bar side and there happens to be a sporting event on TV it is extremely loud. They were kind enough to ask us if it was to loud for us and they turned the volume down. They now are going to have karoke night on the weekends so I think we may have to grab a few drinks and enjoy the show! read more

Ordered the chicken & shrimp fajitas for two for dinner. Portion size was generous, but we were able to eat it all without being stuffed. Only one bowl of complementary chops and salsa. Extra chop bowls available for additional cost ($2.25). Food was tasty and hit the spot. We arrive shortly after 6 pm on a Friday night and were able to be seated right away. We are regular and faithful customers at Spicy Tacos in Brighton for the past 4 years. We have never had a bad experience eating there. The waitresses know us and often times give us a hug when they see us. Last night we had the most horrific experience. They were not busy when we arrived and it took half an hour to get our drinks and longer to get our food. They gave us both the wrong food. When I complained the owner came over and told us to leave. He demanded that we leave and followed us outside and said "I know the kind of people you are, you come in and spend 50 cents and then want your meal free" I have never been so insulted in my life and will NEVER step foot in this restaurant again. Really really good food! I'm actually disappointed I have to give them a 1 Star. I've been there about 3 times and I've never been disappointed with the food; however the wait staff is absolutely terrible. We've been ignored every time we came there. It's takes 20 minutes to order. 20 minutes when asking to get anything (salsa, chips, etc). It usually takes us almost 2 hours from once we arrive until we leave. I know the kitchen isn't slow. It's 100% the wait staff. I really hope that the owner reads these reviews and makes a change. We would probably return. read more

Visited here by recommendation; was disappointed with the food, service was good. I was immediately greeted and seated. Chips and salsa were the best part of the meal! Salsa was fresh with just the right amount of spice. I ordered steak nachos they came out shortly with no cheese. The waitress caught it and took back to the kitchen where the chef sprinkled a VERY small amount of shredded cheese and threw it in the microwave. I received my nachos back with a few dollops of hot, melted sour cream as well as 1 new dollop. As I dug in the cheese was unnoticeable and hot sour cream very prominent. The nachos were advertise to come with melted cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, steak, jalapeños, guacamole, and refried beans for $8.75. Mine had steak, a couple of diced tomato pieces, sour cream, jalapeños,and chips. (I asked for no beans) Will not be returning. read more

We were there on a Saturday evening. The weather was great so we requested to sit outside on the patio. Even though they weren't able to get the outside tv's on- they give it a heck of an effort! Our waiter was great & knowledgeable- he recommended great drinks from the bar. His service was above average- especially since all his other tables were inside. He was attentive- but not overly so. We had the cheesy queso dip and chips for an appetizer and the steak and shrimp fajitas for two- they were very good and we left with leftovers. Prices were great! Less than $70 for dinner and drinks for 2, and we both had a couple drinks each. A Saturday evening well spent enjoying the beautiful weather without feeling rushed. The name of the place is Spicy Tacos but they offer a whole lot more than that. Its so refreshing to eat at a Mexican restaurant that isn't 3 Magaritas and the quality shows through their food. I forgot what I ordered but it came with shrimp and it was delicious. The chips and salsa were great and I felt like I downed over a pound of those alone.
