Main points: bad food with spoiled ingredients, no service, run by teenagers and overpriced. We ordered flatbread with dip, and that was the best food of the night, although it came out with all of the entrees despite it being an appetizer. We had one pizza that was supposed to contain soppressata, but came out with discolored salami. We took one bite and it had an awful, off taste leading us to believe it was spoiled. I wish I had read other reviews before I came, because another reviewer mentioned getting food poisoning and now I'm certain the salami was spoiled. I have been to many Neopolitan pizza places and nothing about this pizza seemed Neopolitan. We got no refills or plates. The only time the all-teenage staff spoke to us was to not so subtly tell us they were closing soon (about 20 minutes before closing). 30 minutes before closing, they began to mop the floors. The food was very overpriced for the quality and setup of the restaurant. I understand that this is a restaurant where you order up front, but if you aren't going to expect your staff to provide refills you should move the drink station from behind the counter so customers can get their own refills (like at Cafe Express or Jason's Deli). I have had the pleasure of visiting Spin! in Kansas City and now have been able to enjoy here in Texas! The Richardson location has a lot of energy among its staff and when my group was greeted at the door, it was with a friendly smile. A woman welcomed us in and offered to help explain the menu. That being said, the menu offers a WIDE variety of flavor combinations and choices that are far beyond the mundane cheese or pepperoni pizza. She was very personal, told us her favorites, and some of the favorites of the staff (which was really appreciated among my group of indecisive people!). I ordered the Mini Mia, where you can get a personal sized pizza, a side salad or soup, and a drink. I got the Salsiccia Con Mela which has a white sauce, with sausage and apples. It's not a flavor combination that most pizza places have, and it is one of my favorites there! The salad I had was great too! Everyone in our group was more than pleased with their orders. One of the best things about Spin! is the staff and atmosphere of the place. They have servers that are attentive to each others tables, so you are always taken care of. Tried the lunch special...a little pricey for a pizza joint. Kind of chaotic to order right when you walk in (especially with the clerk asking you every minute if you're ready yet). Ordered spinach on my white pizza, they charged me the $1, which I understand. Order came out and the waiter had no idea who had what and what kinds of pizza were in his hand (everything looked jumbled). My pizza had no spinach and the waiter offers to "bring me out a bowl of spinach" to put on my pizza. Cold spinach leaves on my baked pizza? No thanks. Waiter had no idea what he was doing. Too bad I'd already signed the tip receipt. I've had better frozen pizzas. The greek salad tasted like chemicals. Very weird flavor. So much green onion and huge chunks of red cabbage. Like many places, the wait can sometimes be a little longer than I'd like, and ioccasionally the pizza is not cooked evenly throughout, but overall its been good expereinces here. I'll definitely be back and am happy to say that the folks who work here are polite. Theres a nice patio outside when the weather is good and there is a good variety other than the pizzas. I was wondering where I'd stuff my face on a lazy Saturday when I decided to check if SPIN! Pizza had opened, and lo and behold it was opening day. Built on the ruins of two failed Japanese restaurants, a pizza place was a welcome change. I'd checked their website a few times before and it looked pretty hipsterish, so I had somewhat high hopes. I was concerned it'd be too packed but when I stopped here for lunch it was alright, and only looked to be around a third full. The restaurant is something between casual and fast casual. You order your food at the front counter, but after you are seated it's full table service. Newfangled comes to mind here. When you first walk in you'll be pretty surprised by the size of the interior, especially if you'd eaten at the previous restaurants here. They'd obviously knocked out a majority of the walls. Once you enter you'll see a small display table with a selection of wines and a large menu print on the wall along with a selection of other beverages beneath. A pizza prep area is on one side of the cash registers, and a fridge filled with gelatos is on the other side. There's an open kitchen behind all this, which wraps around an enormous oven. The dining area is now a single large, airy space decorated in bright, earthy hues. The ceiling and ducting are painted a vivid red and pendant lights hang above the tables. The flooring is a dark brown, synthetic wood. Large windows provide a perfect amount of diffuse lighting. Some of the walls are decorated with lots of layered prints. Black bench seating wraps around the inside of the restaurant, and there's booth and open seating in other areas. Outside there's a handful of seats on the porch as well. The whole place has a kind of late 90's throwback look going for it, and it sports the nicest interior of all the restaurants in this little shopping complex. As far as the food, I opted for the $10 combo (forget the name, which is a small 6" personal pizza and a bowl of soup. This was mostly because I got such a headache from looking at their crazy, poorly designed menu with the fifty different fonts and font sizes, that I just gave up trying to order anything else. I started with the minestrone soup, but it wasn't that great. It was topped with quite an awful lot of cheese. Seeing as the pizza already has cheese, cheese on the soup too is a bit excessive. It also had a bit of a Chef Boyardee flavor and color profile going on. That is to say, too much tomato. It could've used a few sprigs of something green, like celery or maybe spinach. The pizza was a different story altogether. It's hard to find even a half decent pizza in DFW for some reason, but the pizza here was superb. It has a thin crust that was amazingly crispy on the outside, but chewy on the inside. It had a kind of mellow taste that was oddly sweet at the same time. Not sure what was going on there, but it wasn't bad. The sauce was nice and tangy, and all the other toppings were flavorful but mild, a welcome change from the way too salty junk you find on other pizzas around here. I'm not sure I'd come back here regularly to dine in, but I would probably give it preference for takeouts due to the quality of the pizza. Their larger 12" pizzas seem to hover around $12 each, which is a great deal for the quality. I give it a 5/5 for now since I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this restaurant. Love this pizza! Nice selection of pizzas with choice of whole-wheat and gluten-free as well as regular crusts. Whole wheat crusts are amazingly light and crispy. Wonderful salads, too. Not great. Very hectic on a Friday night, I really don't understand why they are doing counter service when regular table service seems like it would much less chaotic. And you pay at your table, which really doesn't make sense. Our friends got some soup and said it tastes like straight up canned Sysco product. The gluten-free crust was flavorless and burnt (and they people working weren't really clear what gluten free means which is unusual at a place offering GF options.) The pepperoni and peppers pizza was way too salty, the patate pizza was actually pretty good, the potatoes are sliced real thin, but the "roasted garlic" consisted of one whole clove, that was basically raw. The pizza of the month was supposed to be prosciutto, spinach, and onion marmalade. It tasted okay but there was no trace of the marmalade, we actually got some extra and the employee explained that they put it on very lightly. But why put it on so lightly you can't taste it? The crust was nothing special. And the kicker was that it cost the same as Cane Rosso but for not nearly as good pizza! If it were more affordable as the "fast casual" counter service would imply, maybe I'd like it more (and it does appear they have good lunch specials) but based on this visit, I am not compelled to come back. read more

Let me add my one star here. I placed a to go order for a couple pizzas. They told me 15 mins. When I got there they told me my order wasn't ready, have a seat at the bar it'll be ready in a minute. All of a sudden all this chaos, pizzas coming out of the oven burned, people yelling at each other, people nearly bumping into each other. Way too many people working! One of my pizzas was ready and sat on their cold stainless steel counter for 15 minutes while I waited for the second which was a pepperoni. Every pepperoni that came out of the oven for the next 15 minutes was hovered over my open box for a brief second then passed off to a waiter to be delivered to some table. Several times they hovered a completely burned pepperoni over my box, then set it back down on the counter, long after it had gotten cold. This pizza got passed around in all this chaos so many times I was nauseated at the thought of how many people had breathed on it, how cold it must be, plus all burned. Ew! Finally someone set it aside and I didn't see it anymore. Hopefully they didn't serve it to some poor unsuspecting person. When the 10th pepperoni pizza came out of the oven, someone hovered it over my box and again it got passed off to a waiter. I was certain my first burned pizza sitting ready on the counter all this time was ice cold by now, so I said, "I'm done!" and I got up and walked out. When I got home I called Campisi's. At least they know what they are doing there; it's always organized and calm; the pizza's pretty good. With the thought of all the chaos, pizza passing through many hands, all breathing on them, being waved around here and there. I'm not sure I can stomach the thought of going back to Spin. read more

Gave this place a shot because it's not too far from where I live. I was born and raised in italy where I spent more than 30 years of my life. I am always looking for places that offer authentic Italian food. I have to be honest I have not found many. Partly it's because tastes of locals differ a lot from the tastes of Italians. I know for a fact that most locals would find real Italian cousine pretty flavorless. That said I will move to the pizza. When I first go somewhere where authentic Italian (napoletana) pizza is advertised I generally try the margherita (marinara at times) first. If they can't get that right, nothing else can possibly work. The dough was not leavened properly. The napoletana should be chubby on the sides and soft overall. The tomato sauce was filled with pieces of GARLIC (c'mon) and frozen cherry tomatoes were all over the pizza (this is not a primavera gentlemen, you only use cherry tomatoes on white pizzas). The cheese was unidentified, but it should be fresh mozzarella. The price point is where Testa or Cane Rosso are positioned except they offer almost authentic food. If you want a better price/quality ratio try Firecrust instead. If you want real pizza don't go there, might as well go to any American franchise (Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc...). read more

I just visited SPIN for the first time and wow! The service was fast and friendly, they have a really cool covered patio, and the food is delish! The pizza has super fresh ingredients on it with a thin and crispy crust. The caesar salad was also awesome. It had a really light dressing on it, which I appreciate. I got the personal pizza/salad lunch special. Can't beat $10 for such a yummy and satisfying meal. This will definitely be one of my go-to places from now on. Can't wait to go again! This pizza restaurant is located in the free standing shopping center along Campbell close to where the old Luby's Cafeteria was located. There have been several restaurants located here in the past. When entering ti will take a little time to review the large menu on the wall. We ordered the Caesar salad and bean minestrone soup and my spouse ordered the Sonona salad and soup. The cost is $8.75 and that is a little expensive for lunch and the amount of food that is served. The soup was a cup and while being hot, it was not particularly noticeable from a taste standpoint. It was good but a long way from being excellent. The Caesar salad was no doubt one of the smallest I have ever been served for lunch and I noticed it was referred to as a half-salad. In four bites you will have consumed your salad. The salad looked as those it had been micro determined in size and placed on the plate to at least make the plate look half full. Did not work and they added a piece of flat bread which if you order separately is $3.95 but comes with a dip. This one was loaded with salt and they was no dip. I think the food was good but the portions small and the prices expensive. The food was good and the location is certainly a welcome sight for the neighborhood. Those few ordering pizza in our area seemed to like the thin crust. Most customers in our area had ordered almost the same as us, a salad with soup. There is a mini mia pizza menu for $9.45 and that includes three items such as Mondo Meatball Mia or Roasted Eggplant Mia. You order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. PIzza is mediocre at best (& we had 2 different 12" pizzas): very skimpy on cheese, very skimpy on toppings (the prosciutto was put on the pizza *after* it had been in the oven?!) The crust was not crispy & sorely lacked a true neapolitan texture & flavor. The sauce did have some flavor, but they skimped on that too. Kinda reminded me of a mediocre national pizza chain I patronized in my college years. SPIN! is mostly atmosphere (very clean, austere & trendy decor) & not really oriented towards quality neapolitan pizza. Suited for folks that really don't know any better. Ok, here we go. The best pizza pie in the area, but I had problems with this operation. Unless you want to scrape child off your car bumper, you might want to skip this place on a Sunday night. It was like walking into an elementary school cafeteria but without adult supervision, just numb parents. Screaming babies and out of control toddlers. I fault the Kids-Eat-Free special (Sunday night). You order at the counter, but there is only one cashier taking orders which are usually comprised of 7 or 8 individualized personal pizzas and various selections from the endless juice menu sure to stump any indecisive kid- it's like each customer is enrolling their kids into school with lots of negotiations taking place. So you spend more than half of your dining experience standing in this flippin line which is murder on your back. Could you PLEASE integrate smart phone ordering. It's plug-n-play technology now, right off the shelf. If they had a 2nd cashier, they probably couldn't keep up at the pizza oven so I'm thinking that's why the owner chooses to have only one cashier during peak dinner hours on a Sunday night. It wouldn't be so bad waiting 45 minutes to eat if you could spend most of that time seated comfortably with drinks and enjoying conversation- no way. Not in this joint. That wouldn't happen anyway with this Chuck E. Cheese crowd. So after ordering at the counter, I'm wondering why I don't have cups to get our drinks. That's because you have to wait for the server to bring the drinks to your table. So almost 15 minutes after taking our seats, a server finally claims us and brings out our drinks. I take it this arrangement is because the owner is afraid I will beat him out of a $0.10 refill of iced tea, because once she dropped the teas off we never saw her again. Score one for the owner's financial statement I guess, but I'm confused because kids are eating free and this place is packed with kids trying to eat this restaurant out of business. A few minutes later, a guy from the kitchen dropped off the pizza. I wander behind the counter looking for napkins. Found them (I think I confused everyone wanting to eat our pizza in a to-go box so I got to-go service meaning no service but the girl who brought our teas was friendly and smiled so I gave her two bucks anyway). I ordered a cheese pizza with zesty red sauce and basil. I wasn't picking up any zest in the sauce. It tasted like normal pizza sauce but had a very fresh, aromatic flavor and wasn't the sweet, over cooked tomato gravy like you get at inferior pizza joints. The crust is excellent, airy and chewy with a crispy bottom - cooked perfectly. However, the basil was completely mutilated into thin ribbons and placed on the pizza before it went into the oven. Chopped basil cannot really survive an 850 degree pizza oven, especially cut into thin strings. It just can't. So while I had the basil aroma, I was eating what looked like strings of burnt candle wicks all over 1/2 of the pie. What self-respecting pizza chef does that to basil? Basil lovers live to bite into a leaf of fresh, aromatic basil. Not here and for that reason alone I could never recommend this place to anyone looking specifically for a neopolitan style pizza pie which is a shame because that's what they serve here. Fortunately I had the forethought of ordering pepperoni for the other half of the pizza which was excellent. To summarize, if you don't mind paying the premium for a delivery service like Uber Eats then definitely order delivery while avoiding basil and placing yourself inside this restaurant. lol. All kidding aside, I'm hopeful Friday and Saturday night will not be so childfull. Let's face it, there is no redeeming reason to allow kids to eat free. It destroys the dining experience for everyone from the noise, the lines to the ticket times let alone the food cost. Better to have a to-go order special like free salad or buy one get one 1/2 off, etc. I can't help but wonder if this place could afford to give me full leaves of fresh basil if they ditched the kids-eat-free special. So to further beat this point into a bloody pulp: take away the mob of kids and I'm hopeful I would have more time seated with better service. I know I will get a great pizza pie. read more

But no, they use tomato sauce instead of tomatoes, shredded cheese instead of mozzarella, and basil strips that are probably old and lack flavor. The pizza had this weird soapy flavor. They've only been open for a week so wasn't sure what to expect. BF and I split the 12" Portobello and Crimini pizza. It was just enough for two to share but not get stuffed. Pizza was phenomenal. Service was even better. Everyone was extremely friendly. Even talked to the owner about their local beers on tap. They even have Revolver Blood & Honey and that makes me very happy. Ordered a kid size gelato just to try it. They brought our tiny size cup of Creme de Menthe Gelato but didn't charge us for it. It was just enough to satisfy my sweet craving. However the pizza lacked any flavor due to the skimpy amount of sauce(almoist undetectable) and chintzy portion of toppings. Simply amazing! Spin recently opened and we are so glad we gave it a try. The manager and staff were wonderful, very quick, attentive and friendly. The pizza was excellent! We are actually not big pizza eaters, but this made from scratch, fresh and flavorful pizza was the best we ever had. They burnt the crust on my pizza. It's not the best pizza, but it's pretty good.

My BF and i showed up 10:10 pm, assuming they would be closed, but the lights were still on so we decided to check. As we walked in everyone looked at us kinda crazy, but the nice young host went and got a manager to see if they could serve us. I wanted to just leave but my BF said lets just wait. The manager John, came around the corner and said he would only make us a pizza if we were ready for the best pizza we have ever had. I quickly told him we were from NJ, so i highly doubt it. Surprisingly John told us he was also from NJ a few years ago. He said he would take the challenge and personally made our pizzas himself. Long story short the Pizzas were incredible!! Maybe not as good as up north, but by far the BEST i've had in DFW for sure!! I have worked in the restaurant biz before and know the feeling when people come in close to closing time, and i must say i have never ad an establishment treat us with such warmth.
