I've been going to spires for basically four years (this location only) and not once have I been disappointed, the staff is always so attentive and friendly, it's really nice how the host and the waitresses have taken the time to get to know us since they see us so often, nothing beats an old school restaurant with good food and friendly faces. I don't think I'll ever stop going here. My favorite are the vegetable beef soup, French toast, chicken fried steak and the French dip :) ohhh and that avocado burger in the picture was also delicious, my first time having it and it was great read more

I'm giving two stars when I should be giving one. As soon as I walked in to eat dinner the server Richard gave me an awful experience. I should have walked out but I gave him a chance to redeem himself after he may seat myself . Ask for a menu myself and gave me attitude when I asked him if he was ready to take my order, he replied "are you ready now" in the most disrespectful sarcastic manor . He then continued to make me feel uncomfortable by looking at me and talking to the chefs and his coworkers. I overheard him saying that I was crazy. I asked for another server. She was better than Richard. And didn't make me feel uncomfortable. That's why I'm giving two stars . Also cus the steak dinner wasn't bad. Even after I I requested another server Richard continued to come up to my table and harass me and ruin my meal asking me if he could get me anything. What an awful experience cannot belive that guy had a job. Won't be back because of him! read more

My friend suggested we grab breakfast before going out on a long road trip. I've driven by here so many times I've lost count but was pleasantly surprised at the food and service so I may eat here again some time. Parking was easy and I had no issues. read more

I regret to update my earlier review about this place, however, you all deserve a better place to eat than this place. If possible avoid going here because the place is infected with flies from nearby cemetery and backyard trashcans, most waitresses won't serve you when you needed something (It took an hour till one of them check on you for anything), place is not 6 feet apart and nobody seemed to be following the social distancing rules or even wearing a mask after eating. I like this place back then but the service really went down the hill after a few months. read more

Great affordable food with great family style service. I love the variety of homemade soups . Usually get the top sirloin steak with Fried shrimp and I always get the meat cooked to my liking. The staff is always friendly and attentive . Refills on your drink keep flowing here and are never lacking . The manager always comes over to check up on your table which is a plus for me . Older white woman server with a braid is SO LAZY. She throws an attitude if you ask her any questions. She not only served me mozzarella sticks that was cold...she served us the wrong drinks TWICE, & we gave her our receipt with money to check us out & she says "you can take it to the front". i'm a regular at spires & all the servers know me & my mom & give us the best customer service. but when i see her, i know i'm gonna have a bad experience. Very busy location! Not very customer service friendly because people come in every minute. I was meeting my sister here. I arrived early and sat by myself for 15 minutes. I was at a table so when I booth opened up I changed my location. When my sister arrived I was then acknowledged and offered a beverage. This had me really upset. I had a good visit with my sister and the waitress was friendly through the meal but if she acknowledged me or explained, it would have been a 5 star review. read more

The food is really bad here. I've been here a couple of times, basically because I drive a long distance to visit a business across the street and am sometimes hungry, which has caused me to stop in here. My visit today had me order a roast beef sandwich with cheese on grilled cheese bread. The sandwich was cut into three pieces. The first piece tasted funny, but I was so hungry I just got over it. However, the second piece tasted a bit weird as well; as though the meat was kind of rubbery. As I bit into the third piece, the taste of meat was horrible. It tasted like the meat was beyond expiration date. I realized that the meat was just bad, if not rotten meat. It's not the first time I've had questionable quality of food served to me here. I'm considering this experience to be "strike three". I won't be back. The only highlight to my experience was the service of our server, who's name was Ariel. Love it been going there since I was a baby . My parents been going there for like 20 something years . And until this day we still love it.

Went for breakfast not bad. The omelette was cooked well and the endless coffee can't complain

I have been going to Spires since I was a little girl. I used to go with my uncle and cousins every Sunday. Unfortunately in 2000 my uncle passed away & the breakfasts were not the same! He's buried at All Souls Cemetery and each time we go visit him and my cousin we always stop for breakfast and reminisce the good ol days. Sadly, I have to stop coming to this Spires. There is a waitress there, Hispanic (lighter complected middle aged wears hear hair up and sometime wears glasses), that is very racist towards black people. Everyone else there is nice, but this particular woman is very prejudice. She will straight out ignore black customers, mess up the orders, take her time. I am not speculating. I know this for a fact because myself and other black customers have tested her out. On four occasions I've/we've had problems with her. One time, I was seated, she passed by me, didn't say one word. Ten minutes later. Nothing. No water. Nothing. Two customers came in (hispanics) and sat down. She immediately went over to them, greeted them, took their drink orders. She continued to ignore me. Wow. I got up and left. I complained once, but she's still there. So I guess they have plenty of white and Hispanic customers and they don't need black customers. Shame. Excellent neighborhood diner! This is a great alternative to the larger chain eateries where the price of flair is included in the food. My significant other and I go there every Saturday. The staff there has been there for quite a while, and stay there because they love what they do. The menu options are great, and our favorites are on special from time to time. It's a decent place for a burger/ dinner/ breakfast and it's cheap. If you don't expect too much then you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you get any of the daily specials they come with a soup/salad/bread. The coffee here is bomb (not sure which brand they use). It's the same price as a burger joint but at least here you get to go in and sit down. I've eaten here several dozen times and never had a problem. They have 3 different claw machines in the lobby. RAD!!! Food was pretty good. The temperature was a little high in the place, though. The chocolate shake was good but not four bucks good. I asked for light onions on my chili size but that was ignored. Fries were a bit damp. My girl got the pastrami sammich with fried zucchini and it was pretty good. When they refilled her tea, they did it with raspberry flavored tea. Jerks. She told me the restroom situation almost caused her to vomit. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!! This was my first, and LAST time at this location. (Have been going to the Lawndale location for 20 years, which is excellent). My husband and mother-in-law went to eat here, I decided to stay in so they brought me food to go. I ordered a cheese burger plain with a side of ranch and a sundae. My husband comes home with it, no ranch, I guess I'll live... no cheese, I think not. I took one bite out of this burger, super dry, it was gross. I call and let them know I am coming to replace my order. When I get there, they haven't even started with it! The cashier starts arguing with me about my order, so ridiculous! You messed up my order, I had to come all the way over here, then you're going to argue with me?! I then ask if she can replace my sundae which hasn't been touched because it's all melted now, she then proceeds to argue with me again. She brings me a sundae with about 2 drops of chocolate, then I ask her where the chocolate is, and she points "don't you see it at the top?".. NO! I do not! She goes to the back with a huge attitude as if she were going to spit in it, so at that point I just wanted my money back. She opens the register and hands me $5... are you kidding me?! I tell her my meal was not $5, so she hands me another dollar. Did this girl even graduate high school? I ask to see the menu for the price and eventually get the correct amount. I ask for the number to the corporate office, and she hands me the money to that location. I'm like no, this is the number to this location, give me the number to corporate. She says come back tomorrow and talk to the manager. I tell her that her manager wouldn't appreciate her attitude, then she tells me that she IS the manager??? What??? Ive been going to this restaurant since hs and my boyfriend lives down the street. The environment of the restaurant is a little old but i guess thats their theme? No complaints on that since it is very peaceful. My bf and I love going to this place whenever we want to get full.
