We had Chicken Pesto Flatbread and the Orange Chicken, both entrees were good but at lunch time it was very crowded and there were so few places to sit that it was a complete debacle. When we asked if we could sit outside behind the restaurant (which was completely empty) we were told that it was for the other restaurant that had a huge seating area and exactly one booth occupied (no one was in that restaurant). At 8 PM all the restaurants were sold out or had a long line and we stumbled in here. I decided to get the Poké bowl and honestly it was freaking delicious. I got the small size and I wish I would've gotten the larger size because then you get a choose two different kinds of pokey. I ordered all the toppings to make it easy because I was starving and I really didn't care. And they have a lot of unique toppings for the Poké bowl. We also got a papaya. I've been here two times so far during my time in Waikiki. The service is really great. Everyone is smiling and super nice. There are a couple other places the same space, including an ABC Store. Located in a nice shopping plaza right off the main strip. The cashier and cooks were very kind and gave me a warm greeting. They have a ton of options. I chose the first burger on the list and added an egg, a cheese flatbread, macaroni salad, and rice. The burger came with fries and was very tasty. Fries were huge as you can see in the picture. I usually don't write reviews for casual take out places as you really can't judge the service. Especially, now during the Covid-19 lockdown. I work in Waikiki and have eaten at Spitfire several times. Their loco moco is on point for a take out place and priced around $12 is a deal for Waikiki standards. Today while at the office for my one day of office work, I wanted to grab takeout for lunch. While walking through the area on my way to International Marketplace for a bite, I saw a sign on the window $6.99 for a chicken sandwich and fries. It looked really good and reminded me of a Popeyes version. At that price how can you go wrong? I went for it. I was further surprised at the discount that was offered. $1.05 off. My total bill was $6.22! Yay for value and giving a discount. The wait was about 5 mins for my food. I watched as the food was prepped, the chef was also acting as the runner. I was further impressed that he stopped. Changed gloves after he prepped the food to box everything and hand me my bag. Kudos to Spitfire for going the extra step to prevent spread. Now the sandwich. this thing is like a whole chicken breast. Seasoned and fried perfectly. Juicy and packed with flavor from the breading and you can still taste the natural juices from the chicken breast. The bread as a fluffy bun toasted to perfection with a light splatter of butter. Pickles do not taste jarred, and the sauce, just sweet enough to counter the added pepper in the breading. The fries are well seasoned and just fries. This is a two-handed sandwich, I am a big man and it filled me up. I'm giving the sandwich and fries a 4-star review for the overall quality of the food and flavor. The remaining star is for the price/value and the extra attention to detail by the chef as he bagged the food, changing gloves as he did. Well done Spitfire, well done. read more

I have been eating at Spitfire for a while now and Evangaline has been there to greet me on multiple occasions with a big smile and a welcoming attitude that made me feel like a home away from home experience. She was very helpful on the menu which was packed with great food and nightly specials. Never had a bad food experience here and everything was great. I am so thankful that my 3 year old wanted to go on a "treasure hunt" (looking for toys) cause if we didn't, we would have never found this gem. It reminded me of a smaller Hawaiian version of Eataly, there's a market section, a wine section, a restaurant (I think) and a order and seat yourself section. That is where we ate and what this review is based off of. It was perfect for my husband, son and I, since everyone wanted something different. We ended up getting the roast duck which comes with 2 sides. The kid picked French fries and the hubby picked Mac salad. We also got a pepperoni flatbread. All of this was around $30, so definitely a price that you can't beat!! The duck was amazing. It kind of tasted like Peking duck, but was just so juicy and tender that honestly I was shocked. It comes with some plum sauce, but I had it plain and was super happy. The flatbread was super good, I believe it was brick fired. The only thing I didn't like (but my hubby did) was the Mac salad. It wasn't your traditional style Mac and it had a lot of dill - which isn't my cup of tea. During the current shut-down of so many businesses I wanted to support my neighborhood restaurants. Spitfire is a favorite and I purchase quick dinners often. Sadly, I recently brought two chicken sandwiches in a three week period of time only to be disappointed by the quality of preparation. The chicken was clearly fried in rancid cooking oil. There was not a piece of lettuce or tomatoes on the sandwich. Plus, they've added a disgusting sandwich spread to the greasy bun. I love Duke's Lane and continue to shop at the grocery store, bakery, and coffee shop. Spitfire needs to clean up and rethink their service. read more

Came in the other day with a friend and had the deluxe burger with curly fries to go, we both did and ate them at the beach and it's a pretty solid and delicious burger. Staff was very nice but only downside is with credit or debit ourchase there was nowhere for a gratuity and i had no cash on me so I felt bad But Glad my homie told us to go I'll be back. Most people probably won't care about this review but I feel like I need to get this off my chest. When you are in Hawaii you tend to be happy because you are on vacation, right? Well the cashier who helped us did not show us any aloha spirit and it really dampened the good vibes of the night. So my family and I went up to order. I tried to order a poke bowl and the lady said that there was no more poke bowls with toppings. I was confused. I saw another previous customer order a poke bowl with toppings. She said that they can only do the fish and rice and did not explain why, just no. I politely declined the poke bowl and wanted to order something else. Before I could order she was already calling for the next person in line!!! When I said that we wanted to order something else she said "Well I'm waiting" like she was annoyed. I was caught off guard. I mean, sorry I was a burden??? We ended up getting a cheese pizza for our daughter because she was hungry, but that was it. We won't be back. read more

WAITED AN HOUR AND NEVER RECEIVED OUR APPETIZER OR ENTREES. Recently visited on a Tuesday evening, and noticed as we were seated that the restaurant was not very full. We placed our order quickly and settled in to enjoy the balcony. Other patrons around us received their meals, ate and paid, and still we waited. The waiter brought our drinks...I ordered a ginger lemonade and it was undrinkable...the sugar content was overpowering and the ginger flavor was acidic and unpleasant. Our waiter was not easy to flag down, nor did he come back to check on us or offer any update on how long the food might take. The restaurant does not offer anything (like bread or other snacks) before the meal arrives, but we had ordered an appetizer, and it was very surprising that this wasn't delivered, and we weren't told "it's coming soon" or "it shouldn't be much longer". We finally caught the waiter and asked for waters. Patrons who were seated AFTER us were receiving their meals. A couple who was leaving the balcony (and had been watching us wait and wait) commiserated with us as they left, expressing surprise the restaurant had not brought us any food. After an hour, the waiter sheepishly told us the two children's meals (chicken and rice...not a complicated dish) were ready and he could bring them if we wanted them. IF WE WANTED THEM?? We said yes. They came out 5-10 minutes later. STILL no appetizer. No word on the two adult entrees. My husband finally got up and found the waiter and told him we'd like to pay for our drinks and the kids meals and leave. We couldn't continue to wait. By this time, the entire balcony...customers who had arrived before and after us...was empty except three tables. It had been full when we arrived. We weren't offered any explanation or attempts to rectify the situation, and we paid for what we'd received (the waiter took the sofa and lemonade off the bill) and we left.
