Spitz is pretty consistent across the board and my body definitely craves it once in awhile. I used to hit up Spitz at least 2x a week, however, when they changed the way they make their chicken, everything went down hill and it was quite the adjustment to get back into it... The manager/owner told me they wanted to make the chicken healthier (very much appreciated) but the initial change was such a shock, and they had to iron out the new recipe for a few months before they "got it right" and I do believe my palette loves it again! In fact, when ordering take out from Eagle stock I got THREE SIDES of it, so clearly I'm a fan (oh and I ate it all). What's really killer at Spitz though are those damn fried garbanzo beans. My friend has been raving about this place for awhile, and I finally got to try it. They have a pretty good looking menu, which is hard to pick from, but I went with the most popular Street Car Doner. I got the sandwich, which was very good, lots of flavor. It also comes in a wrap as well. The street car doner fries are also amazing as well! Love that it's got a Mediterranean mix to the food. They are bringing sangria and alcohol to this location soon as well. Parking is a bit difficult, there are 2 spots out front but are usually taken. Otherwise, its street parking. Oh man. You're missing out on life if you haven't tried spitz. The street cart fries are seriously the freakin bomb-diggity! It's like fries on crack. Crispy thin cut fries topped with a bunch of fresh ingredients that complimented each other really well. Add some sriracha for an extra kick. I also got the classic doner sandwich. It was just okay. Had the mixed meat (beef lamb chicken) sandwich wrap and it tasted fine. Would it bring me back maybe just to try the pure chicken wrap. Pita bread tasted a bit hard, not that I mind hard wrap bread but maybe a day old... I may be wrong. I kept raving to my sister about how amazing Döners are and how cheap they were in Germany so of course that piqued her interest. Parking is street parking so good luck with that! There's indoor and outdoor seating but not many seats so good luck with that too. Employees were super nice. TZATZIKI SAUCE was extraordinary. And those STREET CART FRIES. Man. Out of this world. I'd come back for the fries over and over again. Compared to the Döners in Germany, the ones here are expensive as heck but that's understandable. Basic economics. Lots of Turks in Germany = lots of Turkish and Döner carts = more competition = competitive prices. When did this place open and why was I not informed?! I drove by this place on Sunday and nearly rearended the car in front of me. The tell-tale umlaut took me back home. I went back on Monday for a bite, but that was their Ruhetag. Sadness. But! Today I went there and had the classic with extra tzatziki (and not it's not "ta zee kee" it's "tsat tsee kee"). The staff assured me that, while not owned or run by Germans, it was owned & run by people who used to live in Germany. In Germany, this is like pizza: it's fast food, every place does it slightly differently, but there are certain standards you can count on. Spitz' do:ners are a little small, but very filling. And, they don't skimp on the meat. The tzatziki is definitely worth the trip into Eagle Rock (it's hard to find good tzatziki!). I'll have to go back for their falafals. I grew up eating falafals at dner kebab places. The chicken do:ner is also one I'd like to try. Great great great place. A solid 3.5 stars. The food is pretty good, but the prices are a little higher than what I would expect. I got the Street Cart doner with falafel, and my only problem was that it was very saucey and salty. My wrap was drenched in sauce and the olives also made my wrap very salty. I couldnt finish my food. My brother got the doner with pommes, and he was very happy and satisfied with his food. His wrap didnt have too much sauce, so maybe they messed up on my wrap. The ambiance is very chill and clean. I can imagine myself grabbing lunch with a friend here and catching up. The outdoor patio area is very nice and clean. I love donors more than life sometimes, most of the time really, and when i was in europe 2 summers ago backpacking, i ate them everyday, no joke, pretty much everyday because we had no money and really couldn't afford to eat much else. So anyways i've been craving them for 2 years and when i found that there was a place claiming to be the home of doner kebab's i got excited. Sadly they don't really make donors, they simply lack the spice i'm used to, but i'm still giving them 5 stars because it was really tasty, it just wasn't a donor per se. I really like Spitz. It's the perfect place to come to for lunch or a light dinner. I usually get the Doner Chicken sandwich or plate and it's always delicious. Their meat is cooked well and has the right amount of seasoning to it. Their sweet potato fries are amazing!! (the reg ones are good too). They also have super fresh salads and are generous with the toppings. Their pita and hummus are a great addition to your meal as well. They bake the pita in these delicious crunchy strips and the hummus isn't too garlicky. I wish the staff here were a little more friendly, esp because how often I come here. So after reading a few reviews yesterday and talking to a few people I know who have eaten here, I decided to come here last night with a good friend. Knew what to expect, but I always put places on too much of a pedestal for some reason unless I've never heard of the place haha. Overall the meals we both had were very delicious and also super fillling, two sandwiches and fries and a drink came out to about $25 which isn't too bad considering you get what you pay for most of the time in LA. The atmosphere was pretty cool and I was digging the patio seating which was really nice, I like that there was a lot of street parking on Colorado and worst comes to worst you can park in the Eagle Rock Plaza and walk 2 minutes if that to Spitz. This place I can compare it sort of to the Oinkster which is very close by in Eagle Rock, I would have to say the sandwiches over there are slightly better, but this place is way nicer and way less crowded which are always a huge plus for me. Both are about the same price, but what I love about both places is that they make sandwiches that have so much flavor, granted spitz has more of a mediterranean taste behind it, they are both very different, but very good. Stopped by this location for the first time with some friends after they raved about the Little Tokyo location. This location, however, does not serve alcohol. FOOD: I ordered the street cart doner wrap with beef and lamb. This is what they're known for so I decided to try this out. My friends and I shared the street cart fries and side salad because they ran out of the pita strips! Very sad because apparently the pita strips are bomb. Guess I'll have to go to another location to try them out. The wrap did not disappoint! The meat by itself is quite flavorful and surprisingly the wrap itself is stuffed with quite a bit of meat which isn't always the case at other places serving sandwiches/wraps. However, the other ingredients in the wrap can overwhelm it at times (i.e. the garlic and other sauces) so you might not get the full flavor of the meat as you're eating. Be sure to pull out part of the paper wrap before eating so that you don't accidentally eat some of it! The fries were bomb. Not the healthiest I might say but the fries are crispy and well seasoned with a lot of toppings on top. You could probably even it this as a meal itself. The side salad was good and seemed very fresh but there was nothing too special about it. Overall: 4/5 SERVICE: Order at the front and take a number with you. A server comes around to deliver your food. Not much service tbh. Overall: 3/5 DECOR/AMBIANCE: Small cutesy place. A handful of tables inside but they have a nice patio with bench seating. Has a bit of a hipster vibe. Nice, chill place to hangout with friends. Overall: 4/5 Parking in this area is pretty hard. They only have a handful of spots out front but I got lucky with street parking as someone was leaving when I got there. Some people park at the Sizzler next door. Overall, great food and atmosphere. My mama and I were hungry so I yelped around, and I found this restaurant. Mama decided to try Berlin doner and I tried street cart doner. Both doner have lots of meat (you can choose between beef, lamb, chicken or vegetarian) and veggies! So healthy. I think one doner is enough for two ppl. But for those who like to try new stuff like me and mama, order different doners so u can share and try each doner. Street cart doner, my opinion, is the best. but if u like spice and more flavor, Berlin is the one for u. The price wise- doners are expensive, about $10 each. But it's worth it with all these meat and veggies. The place is small and very cute. They have more tables outside. Like everybody said, parking sucks! Just park far and walk. I don't know why it has taken me so long to try this place! I've been to the los feliz location but for a private event and didn't get to try anything other than fries.. so I never really knew what to expect. I visited on an early Friday evening. There was no available parking in the small lot (about 3 spaces) but one parking spot the street opened up just as we pulled up. Right away I knew I loved the atmosphere- outside patio seating, cool artwork painted on the walls of the building (including Eazy-E), and a mix of old school R&B, alternative, pop and rock music being played throughout the outdoor speaker system! Once inside, I started looking over the menu as we waited in a short line to place orders. I was so glad to read that almost anything on the menu could be made vegetarian or vegan by having orders made with falafel or just veggies. With that in mind I knew it would be tough to make a decision so when it was time to order I asked the young woman at the register what she might recommend for a vegan option. She suggested the Mediterranean which is honestly what I was leaning towards anyway. She asked if I preferred a wheat wrap or focaccia bread sandwich (both vegan) and I choose the focaccia. She also let me know that the aioli sauce that is usually served inside or with the fries is not vegan but that I would be given another sauce (which was like a tangy hot sauce) and hummus on the side. I also got a side of regular fries and husband ordered the sweet potato crisscut with his meal so we were able to try both. I personally prefer the regular fries, but both were delicious! Our order didn't take long to be served and when it arrived I was surprised with how big the sandwich portion was. I guess I was expecting something much smaller.. but it was perfect. My one and only, barley even a complaint, is that without aioli the sandwich is a bit dry. I do wish they had a vegan version of the aioli. BUT the side of sauce and hummus that they gave me totally helped out! I was running some errands with a friend when I spotted this place. "Doner" rang a bell with me but I could not place my finger on it. We made a U-turn and popped in. It's a small cozy place but we had to get to a fantasy football draft so ours was to-go. I quickly asked the guy if the doner was the middle eastern version of a gyro. Pretty close was his reply as he mentioned some small details I don't remember. What I do know is that it comes on a focacia bread versus a pita. No biggy! It was delicious and filling and not as messy as a gyro. If I'm in the area, I am definitely coming back for more. Fist time at this Spitz. I've been to their location in Little Tokyo in downtown Los Angeles many times. This is their original location I've been told. First of all: THEY HAVE A YELP DEAL!! If you check in there on Yelp, you get 10% off on your first visit. See? Already off to a great start! There are a few tables and seats inside, it's pretty small, but they have a really nice patio with lots of tables, lots of shade and lots of greenery. Very nice. The food is Greek fusion. Very tasty. A little pricey, about $8 for single Doner wrap, with nothing else. For an extra $3 you can get a side dish and a drink. The quality is excellent, as is the taste of the food! read more

Actually found out about this spot on Facebook as a sponsored ad. Looked it up and the reviews were pretty good so me and my boyfriend gave this place a try. The parking is minimal.. There is side street parking as well as some hill parking but it's really tight. The actually restaurant is pretty small as well... mostly outside patio sitting. Luckily we were able to sit inside, I thought it was neat that while we wait they had a deck of cards of humanity that we could play with... I ordered the classic chicken doner and my bf got the mixed beef and lamb. What blew my mind was the street cart fries ... It's like a taste of heaven, so good and delicious. The menu are a bit pricey for me but food that taste that good was well worth it. Definitely will come again. read more
