Yummy ice cream in a perfect location! I like visiting Luci's and always see this spot but have never actually ordered from here. We were here for the summer movie event they do in the courtyard area. It's a cute little spot and perfect to come with kids with the little splash pad outside. My husband got salted caramel with cookie dough and brownie bites and I got chocolate with sprinkles and we shared with our 2 year old! Ice cream was rich and creamy, very delicious. Definitely a lil sweet topper of a find. You would not of thought it was there blended in with the other residential homes. Parking on the back. 2 lil entries from the parking lot that leads you to this opening where you see open outdoor sitting, splash pad, SPLURGE, a Cafe/Restaurant. Very welcoming - Definitely will be back to try the Cafe and outside sitting when cools down & maybe come in for the bloody marys. I lived the set up for Splurge!! No real ice cream i seen. The service was terrible! Days before I had stopped by to make sure it was okay to bring a party of 20 to celebrate my birthday. I asked if we could keep a tab open. The girl working that day was friendly and said it would be easy to accommodate. Unfortunately day of party the worst employee was working. She did not "know how to keep a tab open" and was very rude about the request. She had to ask the manager if it was possible but that wasn't the last of her rudeness. She treated our first couple of guests very short and impatient. There was one incident where someone grabbed the "wrong" napkin from the counter, so she took it away from the customer and said those were not for ice cream customers and threw it in the trash can. She clearly did not want to be working the counter of an ice cream shop. It made our visit unpleasant and we do not plan on returning. We hope this employee gets the right training on customer service or finds a better job that fits her grumpy personality. With playful names like "Bohemian Raspberry", it can be hard to choose from their multiple flavors, especially on a hot day. I ended up choosing prickly pear sorbet and my sister had a scoop of moose tracks. Both tasted delicious! We ended up eating and chatting outside on the lawn (there's no seating in the space), and it was a relaxing way to spend the afternoon and end a good meal. Just know before you go, the price was a little on the higher end compared to other popular ice cream places in Phoenix that are stand alone businesses. I would go back again after munching on something at one of the restaurants in the plaza, as I did this time, but wouldn't go out of my way to grab some of it. This little ice cream and candy shop is in the west extension of the building that houses Luci's at the Orchard - the place where I had an excellent breakfast earlier. On opening day they had 11 ice cream flavors and 18 kinds of toppings to choose from, plus there are shelves of different kinds of candy. I tried their strawberry cheesecake ice cream - it was really good: so rich and very smooth. The first scoop of ice cream costs 4 bucks, but every additional scoop costs only a buck each. You also have the option of having your ice cream on gluten-free sugar cones or cake cones! I enjoyed my ice cream in the adjoining dining space of the building shared with Luci's, but you can also use the beautiful patio area outside and enjoy the view of the lush greenery of The Orchard complex. read more

This place is so cute! It is in the same plaza as Luci's at the Orchard and you can eat outside on the patio. You can get 1 scoop for $3.50 or 2 scoops with 2 flavors for $4. I splurged for 2! I got the chocolate and salted caramel. Both were very creamy and flavorful and I would definitely recommend it! I also was able to sample the mint flavor, which was also good! I was pleasantly surprised by how much gelato they give you per serving- so worth it! Splurge also has very cute ice cream quotes on the wall that are picture worthy! Totally cute location, and the atmosphere is amazing! Love the look of the shop and all the fun stuff they have. The scoops of ice cream were HUGE but the flavors were just okay. I got coffee and it was way to sweet and not enough like coffee flavor. Plus if it shows anything that my girls didn't even finish their ice cream, actually its still in the freezer and they don't have any intention in finishing it. Despite being the only ones in the ice cream shop last Friday nigh, the girl working there took about 5 minutes to acknowledge us and appeared "busy" with who knows what. She was extremely unfriendly and unaccommodating. I ordered a small and it barely filled half the cup...about 6 bites for $3.50. The ice cream is very icy and watery and the worker said it was all "sorbet." After I got my ice cream, I noticed a bug (mosquito?) in the ice cream case and the worker seemed like she could care less. Made me wonder about the cleanliness of this place and grossed me out as I begrudgingly ate the very watery ice cream. I normally love ice cream and typically write positive Yelp reviews, but I would highly recommend avoiding this place as there are plenty of delicious and attentive ice cream shops in central Phoenix nearby such as churn or sweet republic. read more

Heard about this place through a news story and decided I had to try it. I went on a playdate with two other moms and their children to check out this and the surrounding establishments. I was very satisfied with the level of customer service by the employee who allowed me to try different flavors of the gelato they offered. I asked for a recommendation and the girl suggested the lemon flavor , which I chose along with the berry flavor. Both were delicious! The serving size was generous and the price was reasonable. It seems to me that their flavors must change periodically although I did not confirm this. I had a scoop of their strawberry cheesecake and it was very rich, creamy, and delicious! Marbled throughout the cheesecake flavored ice cream were bits of strawberries with graham cracker crumbs so you definitely knew what flavor you were eating. And what better way to have it then in a waffle bowl? My friend had their coffee ice cream topped with pieces of biscotti and she said it was delicious as well. Since this is in my 'hood & within walking distance, I really wanted to love this place and take the kids at least 1-2 times per week. However, it was not good. 1. Prices are WAY too high (2 scoops/1 cone=$10) 2. Portions are too small 3. Presentation is very poor. Plus, you have to pay extra for a cone (not a waffle cone - a regular old sugar cone)! My single serving scoop was served in a large bowl which made it look even more pathetic & puny. We sure hope they work the kinks out & reconsider reducing the cost or we may have to go back to our neighborhood ZoYo. read more

First of all the name has "ice-cream" as the tag line but it serves gelato... The flavors were not quite on par. Birthday cake was ok but strawberry cheesecake was off. Coffee was terrible. Our family had lunch at Palmedo which was very good. Then we strolled through the trees past the misters and splash pad for the kiddos and ended up in this quaint little ice cream and nostalgic store. They have really everything from Prickly Pear Gelato to Bubble Yum which I may add was so good. Then walked thru the hall to Luci's for a nice iced coffee. I grew up in the area and it was nice to come back to my roots after 25yrs. I can't wait to return in the evenings to listen to the live band and look at the stars. A lovely night out. We had dinner next door and after perusing the store we stopped and got some gelato. It was a nice big portion served by a super friendly clerk. Then we took it outside and sat under the stars in the summer night cooling down with our sweet cool treats. It really is the perfect light ending to a meal at Luci's or at Pomelo. It is light, cool and very refreshing. Fresh fruit taste and just a real delight. We had a nice sit on the lawn eating and enjoying the evening. It makes The Orchard a really fun place.
