For how well known and it being highly rated to dine at, I wish I could give it a 5. I truly believe that not just the food makes the experience but the ambiance too. As soon as we entered the restaurant, it felt a little diner-ish, that is trying hard to be upscale esthetically but is just trying too hard. There is outdoor seating and indoor (two different rooms and each had a different feel). We were seated in the very back room and it was super quiet, just the noise of people cutting their food on their plate and chewing. They needed to have like music playing or something to help the room not be so quiet and awkward. The food was great. But there was one family with a small child that was screaming. I personally didn't really care too much but everyone around seemed to care and complained to the staff at the restaurant and asked to be relocated. Made me feel like I needed to be on my best behavior in there or I too was going to be judged by the clientele. read more

Ambience was great for conversing. We were seated in the back which was quiet. Short ribs were tough and a bit dry, with too much sauce but came with fingerling potatoes, carrots and spaghetti squash which was nice. We enjoyed all the healthy fresh vegetables. The SOUTHWEST CHICKEN was very tender and tasty! The RED TROUT was tasty and had an earthier taste. And the GUINNESS BBQ RIBS were very dry and difficult to finish; though the fries were good (so not recommending to order this). We thoroughly enjoy our dinner at the Spotted Dog. Honestly the best meal we had during our week in Utah.

Ok the wait was a bit much without reservations but we heard some good t icings about this place and wanted to try it. We had a great waiter and he took the time to answer all my questions. I finally decided on the salmon. It was a healed pick because the lamb looked great, the meatloaf even looked like something I could order although I am usually not into meatloaf. Once we had the food I understood why the wait was so long. Out in Zion there are only so many places to eat and when there is something that stands out you just have to be patient. The salmon was great. As you can see from my picture I scarfed it down. The tomato sauce on the bottom was so fresh. I loved the combinations of flavors that they put together on this dish. The only place we liked about Flanigan's Inn was this Restaurant connected with it. We had dinner here and it was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The menu here has a little of everything from seafood to meat selections. I had two entrees. The Lamb Shank and Blackened Steak. The Lamb Shank was well prepared but the Blackened Steak lacked a little flavor but was still very good. Service here is very attentive, but in some ways we felt a little rushed maybe because it's such a busy restaurant and they need to turn their tables as fast as they could. That was the only gripe I had about this place. Dessert was delicious as well. It's just too bad that the rooms here at Flanigan's Inn can't be as beautiful as the restaurant that's attached to it. I would definitely come back here to eat again but as for staying at this Inn again...I THINK NOT!!! read more

We had a wonderful dinner here! The overall experience was lovely...sitting outside looking up at Zion's imposing rocks. We saw the sun set on The Watchman and then the charming outdoor lights came on. The server and other staff were very friendly. The best tasting part of the meal was dessert...really delicious! We ordered all three options left...lemon torte, Panna cotta and lava cake. Our dinners were all solidly good. Daughter's meatball was excellent!! Makes me want to learn how to make better meatballs at home. Mediterranean salad was pretty good. I would've preferred a more flavorful (more vinegar and herbs, less oil) dressing and more lettuce but that's just my taste. So many times, restaurants near major attractions are mediocre, banking on fresh customers to make it. But this restaurant does not fall into that category. We were very happy with our meals. Had dinner with friends, the spot is perfect for a nice drink and a great view of Zion. They had inside and outside sitting. Dave, our waiter, was very nice and helpful. My husband ordered two salads for us to pick up. The gorgonzola chicken salad was supposed to have blue cheese crumbles and an apple as you can see from the menu. There was no apple at all. The vibe is definitely nicer than a cafe with a very good by the glass pinot noir from Monterey and a solidly good Filet Mignon at a decent price for a tourist restaurant. I was on the phone and a little bit of pre-gaming was done in the motorhome so as I walked in and sat down with shorts and a tank top I noticed I was a little bit out of place with the older crowd of pants and button down shirts. So I put a shirt on while I ordered my beer from our nice waitress who was introducing herself. Note: maybe wait until waitress is ready before giving beer orders. Lol chicken pesto was good. Crab cakes also good. Wife ordered some sliced tomato app she killed the plate so it must've been good. I'm sure my tank top was ok but I'm enough of a spectacle already. This place had good food. Very busy, we were told that we would have a 25 min wait, which was more like an hour, but thankfully we were able to snag a bar table and have a drink while we waited. The Spotted Dog is definitely the best dinner in Springdale! Our server Ramiro provided outstanding service. They have a very savory and healthy menu. The broccolini was one of our new favorite dinner vegetables! Our only constructive feedback is that they should have hand sanitizer at the tables. Ended up here after hiking all day. Started to downpour and we all ran in sweaty and wet & they greeted and seated us anyway!
