There are so many better places in Springdale that cost less money. My hubs and I were seated near a table of 8 or 10, and the waitress that was serving that table bumped into me twice. The first time I got an apology but the second time I got nary a glance. Ok, whatever, maybe the food will make up for this... But it really didn't. I ordered the polenta veggie dish and my husband got the Muscovy duck dish. First off, these triangle plates are just awful. They do not look pleasing to the eye, and the plate looks overloaded. My plate is an utter mess. I basically got charged $18 for 3 vegetable sides that were totally bland and flavorless. My husband's duck was fine. The spaghetti squash and old tough peas were a strange combo. My veggie "ribbons" were cut in matchsticks and mostly contained carrot. As a matter of fact, the whole dish tasted like carrots. Nothing else. The red pepper "coulis" was red colored water. Not a sauce like consistency, not even salted. I got one polenta cake. Also no flavor. I rarely ever salt my food at a restaurant and I salted that dish 4 times and still could not taste anything. No. Save yourself and your tastebuds the trouble. read more

Very nice experience! Good food, great service, and for us a super convenient location (we were at the adjoining Flanagan's inn). Cute vib I had the trout - served on a bed of wild rice, with butternut squash noodles- was really good. My husband had the lamb rack, served with fingerling potatoes, and also the butternut squash noodles. My son had the pesto pasta. He said it was not the best he had had but was still pleased with it and wiped the plate clean. We had crème brûlée for dessert: was perfect! From the moment we walked in, everyone was really nice and welcoming. We had reservations at 8:30 and they close at 9pm. Not once did we feel rushed, or that anyone was annoyed that we were a later seating. Freddy was our server and he was wonderful. Loved his energy and his recommendations. He was very attentive. The field salad had great balance with the vinaigrette and feta and pecans. The halibut special was delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and the blueberry glaze was perfect over the lobster sauce. The chicken sandwich was fresh and had great flavor. The pesto pasta with shrimp had a great nutty taste. Found this Gem Yelping for dinner options. So glad we chose it because the service and food were absolutely great. Maureen, who was a waitress was very nice and gave us great suggestions. The hubby had the pesto pasta and he couldn't stop raving about it. I chose something lighter with a Caesar salad and crabcakes. The crab cakes were unbelievably good and the Caesar salad dressing was so good too. I definitely recommend this place. Best part is you can either sit outside or inside depending on the weather. Food: We ordered sautéed mushrooms that came with a variety of mushrooms in a flavorful seasoning; some baguettes shrimp pasta; pesto pasta, purses with sage butter (star of the meal!). The mushroom was accompanied with bread which I didn't expect so it was a pleasant surprise. Everything here tasted great - they had some seasonal favorites - we could only try the seasonal wine and it was so refreshing - we ended up with another order of it. Ambience: The outdoor seating was a wooden patio, with fairy lights, green ferns covering the patio, and light music - the ambience is a hit for any tired hiker from the national park (like me) or not, for its calming effect. It felt like the setup to be in to end the night - warm and cosy. Service: The staff was friendly and patient and the service quick. They brought one of the sides of an entree early and willingly took it back until the entree was ready for it to not get cold. Given this wasn't a call out from us, but their own observation - I'd say they did a great job at making us feel cared for and enjoying our meal fresh and warm! Our thoughts on dinner: The "chutney" on the warm Brie was basically melted marmalade, but it was delicious, so no complaints. Delightful beet salad with a huge portion of candied walnuts. Luscious pasta purses with a touch of sweetness from the pear. Wild game meatloaf: fantastic! The bell pepper relish had a perfect mix of sweet and tangy. This was very good on the roasted potatoes, too. The bbq short ribs were the least memorable entrée. They were fine. I appreciated that the restaurant was trying to do something interesting with the "seasonal vegetables" instead of the usual steamed broccoli and carrots. That said, the spaghetti squash and green chickpeas were ok, not exciting. I like my spaghetti squash a little softer than it was here. We tried to make a reservation for dinner but no availability until 8:30pm so we decided to walk in. Perfect, had drinks at the tiny bar and got dinner at 7pm. It's a lovely restaurant with a nice variety of menu items. It was packed on here and I can see why. What an amazing dining experience! The food was absolutely incredible, and the service was equally fantastic. Our server was professional, polite, and so friendly, making us feel right at home. We found this restaurant as it was within walking distance of our hotel. Luckily, they had a table on their back patio. We had been in Zion all day hiking and didn't eat lunch so we were ready to eat. We ordered a crab cake appetizer as soon as someone came to help us. Delicious! Then we ordered a large Caesar salad to share. There was plenty of salad for two of us. This was also delicious. For dinner, I ordered the braised lamb and my partner ordered the Halibut, which was on special. We absolutely loved everything. It was such a tasty meal. Service was wonderful. I dined with my parents at Spotted Dog for the first time in October during a trip to visit Zion National Park. I had seen good reviews and noticed that it gets crowded during dinner when I had passed by a few times, so I really had to check it out, and I am very glad that I did! Not only is the restaurant located next to a ridiculously good view, it is also delicious! I am quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it because I truly don't expect to find much by national parks, and much less a place of this caliber, with fresh locally-sourced ingredients, handcrafted, etc. All three of us ordered cocktails, and I ordered a vegetarian pesto pasta dish, while my mom ordered fish and my dad ordered steak. We sampled each other's food, and we all agreed that everything we ordered was great! I am surprised that my parents and I all agreed that we enjoyed it... usually, one of us disagrees, lol! If you're in Springdale, do yourself a favor and head to Spotted Dog. This was easily the best dinner I had all month. I came here for a birthday dinner two weeks back after a thrilling day of hiking the Narrows and was thoroughly impressed. The duck breast I ordered was beautifully cooked and perfectly topped with a prickly pear gastrique. My party's dishes were all wonderful, too. I was especially impressed with the fact that the wild game meatloaf was not gamey at all. When we ordered dessert, we were so impressed that our wonderful server remembered that it was my birthday. My friend had only mentioned it in passing, and not fully directed to her, when we asked for a table! The creme brulee was delectable -- with the perfect spoon crack and burst of vanilla flavor -- while the lava cake was super rich, which made the side of berries nice. Couldn't have asked for a better mountain view either. Plus, while reservations were all booked, we got a seat as soon as we walked in around 7 p.m. during the summer season. Luckily they were able to accommodate our dietary needs. Half of our group was vegan and they ordered the vegetarian forage which was cooked with oil instead of butter to make it vegan.
