Kale Caesar salad, add chicken
Jillian B.

Have been walking past Springbone for ages and finally ended up trying it when my partner was in need of some wholesome soup. He got broth with chicken and rice in it, while I got a Kale Caesar bowl and added chicken. While the spot is more known for its broth, we agreed that the salad was definitely the winning dish and was absolutely worth the price. Beat other salad places nearby in terms of value.

Burger Classic, Saratoga Springs Water Still

Went on a rainy Friday night, it was very quiet in the storefront and food came out hot. Got a burger and the beef tallow fries - all of which was absolutely delicious. I think the bun (gluten free) was the best I've had in my life, it just melts in your mouth.

Mexican Bowl and Butternut Squash Soup
Teph H.

1st time visited this place, ordered the Mexican Bowl and Butternut Squash Soup. The Butternut Squash soup was salty, I tasted everything salty after that. The chicken on the Mexican bowl was a bit cold (I was expected a hot meal), and not a big fan of that rice. The staff are friendly and is a cute place!

Grilled cheese and tomato soup from "Springy"
Julia J.

Tried their new "Springy" fast food 'storefront' on DoorDash and sadly didn't really like it, which is too bad considering they use clean / high quality ingredients. I got the grilled cheese and paid a little extra to sub it to cheddar rather than the American it comes with by default. It still tasted like American, though; not sure if they didn't follow the instructions or if it's just a super mild cheddar. I did like that the grilled cheese had some crispy cheese on the outside, and I would've never known it was gluten-free bread. However, it was weirdly sweet, and I just prefer a stronger cheese flavor. The tomato soup also was veryyy sweet and had a weird aftertaste; also tasted kind of like a can lol. Curious about the fries & burger though...

Liquid Gold broth and Avocado Toast.
Emma G.

My experience and knowledge of soups is embarrassingly limited and up until adulthood was completely dominated by Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup. I know. We all have our crosses to bear. Since I wasn't too hungry, this seemed like an ideal stop for a light Friday lunch yesterday. Springbone is probably about two blocks from where I work, and I've passed it quite a few times on my adventures. I've noticed customers outside utilizing the to-go window before, so it wasn't surprising to me upon entering that this is pretty much exclusively a to-go crowd. The counter/kitchen area is separated from the small waiting area by a rustic white wooden partition-like structure; very pleasing to the eye. Let me start with the overwhelming positive here - the bone broth was sensational. The bar wasn't too high for me (see prior paragraph), but I was blown away by the Liquid Gold bone broth. Perfect name. Just delicious and ideal for an overcast, slightly nippy fall day. If I were sick, I'd probably do nothing but drink this. It was like a life-affirming elixir that tasted like Thanksgiving. I don't think in good conscience I could ever go back to Campbell's. The herbs and vegetables they use to season the broth are flavorful, and thankfully there's nothing actually IN the broth - I have a texture-based palate for the most part, so I'm super leery of having to chew and/or eat my soup. I don't know how they figured out that including coconut milk was a good idea, but I tip my cap to them. It adds a smoothness to the broth that, again, sets it apart from mainstream, regular soups. I wasn't expecting this somehow, but it's packaged basically in a to-go coffee cup, so you can easily sip it in the street if you want. I noticed quite a few reviews mentioned that this place was overpriced, but I thought $6 or $7 for what I had was fine. That's, what, 3 times more than a can of soup in the supermarket? And probably 3 times better, so I'm not sure there's much of an argument to be made there. I also ordered avocado toast, which was about $8 or $9. This isn't specific just to Springbone, but I think I'm now officially done ordering avocado toast from pretty much anywhere. It's easy to make at home for a literal fraction of the cost, and it's actively starting to bother me that most avocado toast dishes now only come with one piece of bread. I'm positive that it was the norm to get two pieces as recently as two or three years ago. This toast was fine - it had kind of a Middle Eastern/ethnic flavoring to it (I'm guessing that's the za'atar spice referenced on the menu), but the selling point here by a considerable margin is the broth. The customer service left a slightly bad taste in my mouth, but your mileage may vary. When I stepped up to the register, the woman at the counter didn't seem to be in a great mood; she never smiled and just wasn't particularly pleasant. It happens - it could have just been timing, it could have had something to do with the fact that the world has been an absolute dumpster fire for several years, etc., but it didn't feel friendly in there at all. That sentiment was reaffirmed a few minutes later. The broth came out almost immediately, which makes sense given the minimal prep time required. It took another 10 minutes or so to get the avocado toast, which is fine. No issue with that, especially since the place seemed pretty busy. While I was waiting, I sat down at the little countertop that they have right next to the window looking out over the plaza toward Stone Street, which had two chairs and enough space to eat if needed. When the woman came over to give me the avocado toast, she told me I couldn't remain sitting there to eat because...part of my body was blocking key sections of the menu on the wall. What? That's a new one on me. Why on earth would you have a small, formal seating area with a tabletop if you can't eat there? And if the reason I was given was completely accurate (and I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt there), why would you put said formal seating area right next to and/or in front of the wall menu? I'd also point out that the menu has separately been placed on the doors coming in and is readily accessible online. So that dampened my enthusiasm for this place, which is a shame because up until then this was close to a perfect experience. The bone broth is amazing. This was probably the best time of year to discover it, and I'm glad I did. I'll be coming back, but you'd better believe I'm going to remain standing while I'm in there waiting for my Liquid Gold.

The place is well decorated and easy to get to with really nice seating and lighting. We were seated quickly and service was relatively quick though pretty impersonal (until we had a couple laughs at the end before we left). My wife ordered the dumplings to get started. They were pretty good, though a little underseasoned on the filling. The sauce that came with it though picked up the slack. Also, because they were gluten free, the dough had a bit of a stickier texture than you may be used to, so just be ready for that. Next, we shared the brussels sprouts. They were tender and the chili oil seasoning that came on them had a little zing without being overpowering. Not my favorite ever but really solid. My wife got the California roll and one of the specialty ones whose name we can't recall that came with the scallop on top. Both were tasty, but mild on flavor without soy or other condiments. I got the chicken and waffle. The waffle was quite good and cheesy and also a bit denser (another gluten free caveat). The chicken was well cooked and juicy... but bone-in. All 3 pieces. Having to try to de-bone it while sitting on top of the waffle seemed like an unnecessary challenge that neither flavor nor presentation justifies for me. Once I got that all set though and drizzled the hot honey over top, it was really good (and also very filling). To wrap up, we each had an adult beverage. I got the Chinatown margarita, which was different with the floral jasmine notes but not life altering. My wife got the lychee cocktail, which was really solid. Fruity, floral, and lots of layers. Overall, a solid bite but not one that I would necessarily go out of my way for if I didn't need to seek out gluten free.

While the labor economics of Herman Melville's day haven't changed much, thankfully there are some tastier options in the area these days to help alleviate the scrivener's woes. As far as I am concerned, Tartinery's warm rice bowl is the superior option in this genre. It includes a perfectly runny soft poached egg, a rich lemon vinaigrette, crispy roasted potatoes, and just the right amount of wild rice and lentils so that the meal is not overly heavy for lunch. This is also one of the few places I eat at where they know my name, so kudos for that.

Both the cashier and the individual who prepared my meal were charming. However, this establishment should evaluate one of their employees and assess his attitude. Numerous other reviews mention his unpleasant demeanor. After completing my purchase, I proceeded to an empty table that had a menu on it. I removed the menu and placed it on a nearby table that was marked with a "Reserved" sign. It is worth noting that several other tables also had a "RESERVED" sign, except for this one. A short Hispanic/Latino male wearing glasses approached me and stated, "Ma'am, this menu is on the table because it is reserved for Happy Hour." He returned the menu and walked away without offering me an alternative seating option, leaving me to wonder about his purpose. It was only after I asked him for the third time, "Should I look for tables that are completely empty?" that he replied, "Yes," in a clearly irritated tone. I apologize for being such an inconvenience to you, Sir. It seems this employee has lost sight of his responsibilities. His tone, behavior, and demeanor were entirely inappropriate and unnecessary. He exhibited rudeness and a lack of professionalism. Such conduct is a blatant display of disrespect and overshadows the quality of the food and the pleasantness of the other staff members. In conclusion, there are numerous other excellent options available at Hudson Eats. I recommend that you consider skipping this location of Tartinery.

I walked in and the density of product and the activity across every section created an energy that is particular to this format and difficult to replicate elsewhere in the city. The dining options inside are divided across different counters and restaurants. La Pizza and La Pasta is the one most people gravitate toward for a sit down meal. I ordered the wood fired pizza, which had a light, properly charred crust, and the toppings were handled with the restraint that good Italian cooking tends to favor. The gelato and the pistachio croissant from the bakery counter are among the most talked about items outside of the main restaurant. I tried the pistachio croissant and understood why it sells out; timing is required to find it in stock. The market section is open throughout the day and accessible without a wait, which makes it a viable option for picking up Italian groceries, imported cheeses, cured meats, or a quick espresso even when the restaurants are at capacity. For a food focused destination that blends retail and dining seamlessly, Eataly at the World Trade Center delivers a unique and energetic Italian experience.
