The CFS has a nice balance of steak and battered crust and their mashed potatoes are delightful. This is not a place to go to if you are watching your waistline. We've been here several times. Food is normally very good. That was not the case last Friday. It was almost 1p., so we didn't want the buffet. We actually decided to just get a few pieces of their a la carte catfish and a basket of hush puppies. While we waited for our order I took the opportunity to visit the ladies restroom. It was extremely obvious that there was a dead animal very near by. The smell was horrific to say the least! I returned to our booth where my husband was waiting. Shortly later our fish and hush puppies arrived. The fish was fresh and hot but the hush puppies were barely warm. Shortly after leaving both my husband and I were not feeling so good. I've planned to visit Springhill for some time because I heard that their catfish was the best. The catfish was clean-tasting with no muddiness, but that is the best I can say. It had a kind of tough batter that makes the catfish chewy, not light and crisp. The beans were undercooked and lacked salt, the coleslaw was a standard creamy sweet slaw and the hushpuppies had that same chewy overfried texture. My husband had the cfs, mashed potatoes and gravy. Potatoes did not taste real and the cfs had that same tough batter on a mediocre piece of meat. Over all the meal matched the quality of the place setting - styrofoam plates and plastic utensils wrapped in a cheap paper napkin. Not worth a return trip. read more

The food wasn't bad but I just can't get comfortable with going into a restaurant and getting served on plastic or paper plates and given plastic knives and forks. If I wanted fast food, I would go to McDonald's. they must fill a landfill every year. read more

Great atmosphere and friendly staff but the buffet is only fair. Catfish, fried Okra and onion rings were good but selection on other items was slim so the price compared to the offerings was not a good value. Banana pudding tasted overly artificial and was the only dessert. read more

They clearly cannot handle groups of people at 1 time. Some of the food was cold, First thing when we arrived we ordered our drinks the said the were out of TEA and lemonade,then about 15 minutes later out of pop and water. They had some bottles of water and said to take them before they ran out of that. They didn't bring my dinner and some of the dinners were wrong,BUT THEY DID NOT CHARGE FOR THE FOOD. Love this great little catfish place in Pflugerville. All you can eat lunch buffets during the week and even on the weekends at lunch. Sundays they have fried shrimp on the buffet! Alway check because items on the buffet change depending on the day. read more

Catfish is satisfying and well-seasoned, and the chicken-fried chicken is tender and has a delectable breading. The fault comes in the gravy, which lacks flavor, but they give you a lake of it. What's sad is that a year ago I would've given this place at LEAST four stars. The last two times we've visited the service has been horrible. When I say horrible I mean as in we don't bother with ordering food off the menu and just go the buffet route so all the waitress has to do is keep our drinks filled- really should be simple and it has only been my husband and myself so it's not like a lot of drinks need to be filled either. Anyway back to my point- today's service didn't exist.We get seated a waitress quickly comes over and gets our drink order. She brings back to the drinks and asks what we will be having and we just say the buffet. So my favorite thing on the buffet usually is the mac and cheese (probably from a bag but I love this stuff from here), the fish (of course) and the chicken strips. Today there wasn't any chicken strips just dried up eggs and weird greasy bacon it the spot the clearly stated "Chicken Strips" so boo on that note. The mac and cheese was uber runny this time and not creamy with all that fattening goodness- another boo :( My drink had to of been empty for at least 15 minutes before she ever came back by and that was only after I was staring in her direction like "Hellloooo". Then we never saw her again, as in we finished our food and waited 30 minutes for our check- seriously. I even stared her down a few times and yet she didn't feel my eyes burning into the back of her head- we waited another 10 minutes after she dropped of the check and I finally gave up and went up to the counter to pay. I don't see how this place makes money if their waitresses are all frazzled like this and forget to bring checks and pick up money from customers. I took my father here for father's day, and while the catfish was delicious, as were the hushpuppies, I cannot get over a restaurant charging $13.99 for a shrimp plate served on STYROFOAM. EVERYTHING is served on Styrofoam. They must dump thousands of pounds of it into the landfill every year, which is horrifying. It was also very warm in the restaurant, and all of us were sweating the whole time we were there. The service was average. I won't be back unless they start using real plates and stop being so wasteful. read more

The food is good, however right down the street is fish daddy's and the seafood is just as good if not better. We use to frequent this place but over the years it's obvious they've never taken any time to clean (piles of dust all over the displays on the walls and ceiling) the food is quite expensive considering it's served in throw away trays with styrofoam cups. And the service is beyond horrible. After we were seated we waited over ten minutes to be greeted by our server, a middle aged woman who seemed to probably have been partying way too hard the night before. After another ten minutes she came back and asked us what we ordered to drink again. Really??? ...She came back in a few minutes with our drinks, took our order and that was the last we saw of her for about 20 minutes. The food came out wrong, but we didn't want to deal with our amazing server so we decided to over look it. That was a good decision seeing as we didn't she her for another 30 minutes. Finally after everyone had nothing left to drink and we were more than ready for the check she comes out from the back, comes next to our table and sits down with the table next to us and starts to talk! She never even glanced our way. We remarked out loud what a joke this is, and how we're ready to leave. I'm not sure if she was ignoring us or just an oblivious idiot. We had to wave at her from 3 feet away because she was so involved in conversation. Asked for drinks and the check, which amazingly happened in the same day and debated leaving a tip, ultimately we did, hoping the waitress would buy a clue. Never again! Rude service and bad food! Catfish was okay but cold. Oyster dinner is gross!! These oysters were cold and rubbery. It's as if they took them out of a can and fried them. FAIL! The manager yelled across the room after I gave back the plate of oysters to the waiter to subtract off my bill. "then don't charge her!'" he yelled . And the hostess and other waiters made it obvious that I was in the wrong for returning food. Kept staring at our table. So embarrassing and degrading. Should be ashamed. Go back to customer service class/training!! Please make efforts to go to tables to apologize for crappy food when a customer is not happy. And youre not fooling anyone (at least people who know their oysters) if you think substituting canned oysters (reminded me of Crown Prince LOL) for fresh ones is gonna do the trick. I only eat one thing at Springhill restaurant, as does my brother!!! The fried shrimp is as good as any place in Texas, and that includes Galveston or anywhere else on the Gulf Coast!! It's a little pricey, but I'll keep paying as long as the taste stays the same! I live about 200 miles from Pflugerville, but if I go anywhere close, I won't miss Springhill! Being seafood lovers and living in Pflugerville, it seemed a tragedy we had yet to eat at Springhill. My husband and I do travel a lot and we have had the best of the best when it comes to seafood; but were so excited there might be another place close to home that we would love. NOT! The service was great, atmosphere was great full of antiques and vintage items; prices were a bit high.....but the food!!! The catfish tasted like it had been sitting out for days. The fried oysters were hard and overly breaded, the shrimp had so much breading (hard as well) that we had to peel it off. Wait staff was extremely rude when you asked for substitution and began yelling. Management was unwilling to resolve any issues and just wanted to make the customer feel stupid. They have good catfish but they have very limited sides that they do not provide daily. For instance, mac and cheese or corn are not available throughout the day but only limited availability. Their least favorite sides of coleslaw or beans are the ones they seem to have available at time but those don't taste good. Could be a lot better overall. read more

Went for a late lunch with a coupon, buy 1 regular catfish dinner, get one free ($9.99). It's not fast food, everything is made in-house and cooked to order. and worth the wait! 4 large catfish filets on a mound of fries, hush puppies, beans and coleslaw. I almost didn't get to the fish, the sides were so good. I'm not a huge coleslaw fan but theirs is made there and is the best I have ever had! Creamy, slightly sweet with crisp cabbage. I brought home 2 filets, 1/2 my fries and a hushpuppy, I was so full. I'm sorry that other patrons had poor service because our server Nelly was outstanding. It was a chilly day so she sat us in a spot out of the door draft, checked on us routinely and was very friendly. I ordered a plate to go and she delivered it without being reminded just before the end of the meal and saw that I was going to need a go box and brought it before I had to ask. Overall, an exceptional lunch out with delicious food and a server that left us with a smile on our face. We will be back! If I could give 4.5 stars I would. I've been coming here for about ten years and it's great. I love the fried chicken, but my favorite thing is the onion rings. Good fries, good gravy. Can't speak for much else because I always get the same thing. The staff is always pleasant, but I'm usually not blown away by the service. The decor isn't fancy. It's a bit like Cracker Barrel in that all the walls are covered in antiques. Somehow it feels a little less spick-and-span, though I've never noticed anything being dirty or dusty; I think it's just the way the genuine antiques are worn and how the building is a little shabby. read more

I read the reviews of Springhill before I went to eat there yesterday and I think some corrections are in order. I was very pleasently surprised. First of all the no longer do they use plasticware. I personally prefer silverware. The food was all very tasty. The Spinghill salad was great I add grilled Shrimp,(other options grilled chicken or fish). Also ordered were fried catfish basket excellent and the chicken fried steak,very tender I was told. The prices I felt were reasonable for the food you received. Desserts looked very good but did not try them. Enjoyed the flat screen TV in the area we we because a game was on. I ill go back and encourage others to do the same read more

Warning*** DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT! I have been twice now and BOTH times, I got food poisoning. My first visit was approx 4 years ago and while I thought the food was ok, I ended up spening a night in the emergency room. Since we normally eat 3 meals a day, I was not convinced it was the food from Springhill. While I was not sure where I got the food poisoning from, it was 4 years until I would give it another shot. This past Monday we went again and again... the food was not that great, the service is a whole seperate review but I will just say it was was the worst I have ever had. Later I began to feel ill and you guessed it, food poisoning again! (Confirmed again by a dr.) This time I called to let them know about getting the food poisoning, only so they could do what was needed to keep anyone else from getting sick. I was told by the lady (she said she was a part time manager) that I was told I was the second person to "claim" food poisoning and if I wanted to comeback, they would give me a free meal for two. I told her that was nice, but I was not looking for anything free, just thought he would want to know. I was told the owner would not do anything but that she would inform him of my "claim". I am sure some have good experiences but eat at Springhill with caution. To be fair, I have never tried the one way down south, only the location in Pflugerville. read more

Ate at Springhill tonight (not my choice), great service! Cat fish was good, chicken fried steak over cooked and greasy, good onion rings. The only problem was in the small room they seated us in, all the items either hanging from the ceiling (bicycle and fan) or items on the shelves and walls had at least an inch of dust; hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Part of the ceiling looked like it was coming down. Wish I would have noticed before we sat and ordered. Won't be going back, IF we ever want food from there we will get it to go. read more

I was highly disappointed with Springhill when I went the other night. I had a take-out large catfish dinner...fish was fried hard and salty, hushpuppies soaked in grease- squeezed them with a paper towel; but something that is unforgivable was the coleslaw...it was SLIMY ! that means it was old...it didn't even have a taste, one bite and I had to spit it out. Informal and homey. This was my second time there in three weeks, and I had the catfish again. The fish was very nice. The slaw is fixed just right, and the catfish near perfect except for some gravely bites in the coating. The one down thing was I was quite disappointed this time with the service. Not a single refill. I gave it four stars on the strength of the combined visits. It is better than a 3 star experience, but they need to make sure they get the glasses refilled. I realize the second time was a Friday night, but the place was not packed yet as we arrived early. read more
