How this place is in business is beyond me. Walked in and my 8yo daughter begged to leave saying how bad it smelled. We continued in, ignoring the dust and sat down at a booth. Our server was sweet, she was happy to help and attentive. After ordering my daughter had to use the bathroom, "OH MY HEAVENS, what is that smell?" She said. Yall the bathroom, it is SO bad, the sewage smell is unbearable. We had to leave without using the bathroom and didn't even wash our hands as we felt we would get dirtier somehow. My daughter said they should use an air fresher, I said honey I saw one, she said well then they need 10. I don't know that 10 would help, there is for sure something wrong with that plumbing, that was not normal. I was so grossed out I wasn't sure I could eat. Our food finally came out and it was all disposable plates. Really? Anyways, we paid, we were out and won't be back. Ring in Austin for over 20 years I always wanted to try this place but I highly recommend you do not.

It's been decades since I've set foot in this place. After you pull into the steep and potholed gravel parking lot, you can step back in time to a building filled with old relics which adds to the charm. I did read through several reviews before coming here, but nobody mentioned that they have absolutely no craft beer or wine, just the usual domestic offerings. Not even Shiner! We started with the sampler platter appetizer which was underwhelming and small. The hush puppies were clearly previously frozen out of a bag and of ver poor quality, skip those nasty nuggets. After 5 PM, you can get the baked potato, but I would definitely skip their salad out of the bag. For the main course, I got shrimp and fish and the wife got hers baked not fried. The beans and slaw were ....meh, fries were ok. I hate to say it, but there's a lot of yelpers slapping down five stars on what is just 2 to 3 star grub. Part of the ambience here is dining on styrofoam plates and cups with a roll of paper towels at the ready. The service was friendly and attentive. The catfish actually wasn't too bad and it was the highlight of the meal, which isn't saying much. For the money, this place is a pass for us. So if you're looking to sit down to some great quality seafood, I would suggest looking elsewhere. If you have little to no expectations and like the vibe, this place is for you. And if this place is for you, they do have some dining areas set aside for private parties, although you may wish to avoid using the bathrooms, especially the women's. When you finally pay the bill with a credit card, you will be charged an additional 3.25%. I used cash. Nine photos included to help you decide. 21/2-3*

Review of Springhill Restaurant in Pflugerville Nestled in the heart of Pflugerville, Springhill Restaurant is a hidden gem offering a delightful selection of Southern comfort food classics. Their catfish fillets and fried shrimp steal the show, expertly fried to a crisp perfection and seasoned to tantalize the taste buds. Accompanied by homemade pinto beans, fries, and hush puppies, each dish adds its own unique flair to the dining experience. The homemade pinto beans are a standout feature, boasting rich flavor and a comforting texture that rivals even the best homemade recipes. Similarly, the hush puppies are a hit, with a perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft, flavorful interior. While my husband encountered a slightly burnt batch on one occasion, a second try confirmed their deliciousness, showcasing consistency in quality. In addition to the main dishes, Springhill impresses with its slaw, offering a refreshing accompaniment that complements the hearty flavors of the meal. However, during peak hours, the staff may appear slightly overwhelmed with pick-up orders, but their positive attitude prevails, ensuring a pleasant dining experience overall. The ambiance at Springhill is charming, with antique items adorning the walls and creating a cozy atmosphere that transports diners to a bygone era. Moreover, the cleanliness of the establishment is commendable, providing a welcoming environment for patrons. In summary, Springhill Restaurant offers a memorable dining experience with its delicious Southern fare and nostalgic ambiance. Despite minor inconsistencies, it remains a top choice for those seeking a taste of authentic Southern hospitality since its establishment in '85. O and you definitely get a sufficient amount of food!

If you are looking for fried comfort food, this is your place. The moment you step inside, you are greeted by relics from the past and good ol' southern hospitality. We went for dinner and it hit the spot for us. Hushpuppies, garden salad, chicken fried steak, baked potato and peach cobbler ala mode and the portion size is large enough that we shared all of this between two people. It's local and home style food. Give it a try!

As a lover of buffets and catfish, I was excited to come try this spot out. It's a very country style, more southern than western type of restaurant. They've got all the foods associated with the south like fried catfish, hush puppies, boiled green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes, and even fried gizzards! I love this type of food and having a buffet of it really satisfied my cravings. Lunch buffet is from 11-2 and costs about $16 with a water and $18 with a fountain drink. I would come again since I like it but I would point out that I love Golden Corral too and they have all the same dishes plus more there for a better price at lunch. But it's worth coming here for a slice of something different.

Everything was delicious! Catfish basket sub fries for okra. Shrimp basket sub fries for beans. Side of cole slaw.

As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed. The ambience was great! The host was attentive and cordial, and our server, Eliseo, was incredible from start to finish. There were so many great choices on the menu that I asked for his recommendations, and he took the time to explain different options, what they came with, and what customers usually enjoyed most. He was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely seemed to care that I had a great first experience there. I decided to go with the Chorimigas based on his suggestion. I also noticed that Carne Guisada was on the menu and asked how it compared to a competitor's. Without me expecting it, Eliseo brought out a small portion for me to try so I could decide for myself, which really shows how much he goes above and beyond for his guests. I'm so glad he did! The carne guisada was delicious, if not better than the competitor's. The flavor was unique but still classic and comforting. Chef Mina heard my comments about the carne guisada and came out to introduce herself. I turned beet red, it was unexpected but very flattering! (I got a bit emotional as it was a rough morning.) She was incredibly hospitable and asked for my opinion and thoughts on the competitor. It was a brief but meaningful conversation about the dishes, and I truly appreciated her taking the time to connect. Eliseo remained attentive throughout the entire visit, checking in at the right times, making sure everything tasted great, and keeping a friendly, welcoming attitude the whole time. His service truly elevated the entire experience, and I can't thank him enough for going the extra mile. I highly recommend him!!! I even purchased a souvenir coffee mug because I couldn't leave without one! This truly made my morning!!! I'll definitely be coming back for the carne guisada. Highly recommend this amazing restaurant! (Used Google Translate)

John passed away in early 2024, while his family took over the shop in Pflugerville. Now just about a decade after opening shop, Brotherton's is closing down at the end of August. Following John's passing, they've hit a few road bumps from the rising cost of beef that's been plaguing Texas BBQ. Earlier in January they posted on social media how they were struggling, and again last spring. At the start of August, the Brotherton's family announced Brotherton's Black Iron BBQ in Pflugerville was shuttering for good at the end of August. Knowing this would be the last time I would be able to try it, my buddy and I took an extended lunch break on a Friday to give it a shot. Upon arrival at just around 11:50, we noticed that the parking lot was packed with multiple food trucks and other businesses filling the shopping center. We got lucky with a parking spot far away as we marched inside to wait in line. On the door lay plenty of stickers from different BBQ joints from Texas and beyond, with even some coming from overseas. The line moved slowly but surely, and as we got to the front we got our three-meat plate with a bonus slice of turkey for good measure. We ended up getting to Brotherton's at the perfect time because we got the final slices of brisket on that glorious Friday. I'll share my thoughts on everything we tried: Brisket: Though it looked like a great cut that was nicely seasoned, it was pretty fine overall. Nothing remarkable about their brisket while still very fatty. Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage: Juicy, cheesy, not really too spicy on the jalapeño side of things, but that might just be from the mildness of jalapeños these days. Pork Ribs: These suckers looked incredible from the pictures I saw online and on social media, but they were kinda disappointing based on how incredible they looked visually. They were good, just not as epic as I was hoping. Turkey: Turkey is underrated in the BBQ scene, and this is no exception. A nice cut of meat! Cornbread Casserole: I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. Green Chili Mac and Cheese: I'll repeat myself. I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. As a whole, I'm very glad I gave them a shot before I would never be able to again. That's the hardest part about Texas barbecue. The best places and the historic spots can drop in a moment's notice when hardships hit or the meat prices skyrocket. Sadly, I can tell that they're already at the end of their rope with certain menu options like the loaded nachos and baked potatoes, which always seem like the sign of the end. And with how the food was simply just decent overall, it's hard to justify the rising prices. I see reviews all over saying their quality has fallen off year after year following JMFB's passing, and it makes sense: he was the heart and the soul of the business. When that vaporizes overnight, it's only a matter of time. I don't wish for the downfall of any spot, but I understand that it's bound to happen to certain ones. RIYL: Paying respects to one of the greats in Texas BBQ

My youngest daughter ordered the New York strip steak with mashed potatoes, her boyfriend chose the ribeye steak with French fries (they definitely have expensive taste!), and my other daughter had the grilled rainbow trout. Every dish was beautifully prepared and thoroughly enjoyed. The red wine paired perfectly with our meal, and the staff graciously allowed us to bring a birthday cake, which made the celebration even more memorable. Between the exceptional food, beautiful atmosphere, great drinks, and attentive service, it was the perfect birthday celebration. I highly recommend Roaring Fork for a special occasion or a relaxing Sunday meal with family and friends.

First time to this location. The parking lot has ample spaces and we arrived about 1pm for lunch…read more We were seated immediately and the booth was super comfy. The ac was cold !! And there is a giant tv wherever you look. All the football and sports! Our server was super polite and quick to grab drink and app order. We had tea and water then ordered wings with fries. They have changed the menu and it's pretty impressive all the food optionthey have. Wings to burgers to salads they seem to have it all. The drink menu for alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks is huge as well. I will try strawberry lemonade next time. The wings came out pretty quick and were hot and tasty. The fries were fresh and hot as well. We had a great experience and will be back. I hate to say but the service at most BW3s is usually horrible, but today it was great and so was overall experience. Like I said we will be back!!

I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough to speak on. We sat at…read morethe bar, and Nicole was our server. From the start, her attitude was poor. Every time I tried to order, she would cut me off mid-sentence, making the whole interaction feel rushed and dismissive. The place wasn't busy, but she carried herself like it was, and I could hear her speaking to other guests the same way, so it clearly wasn't just us. I'm someone who genuinely likes to take care of people who take care of me, so I didn't want to give her a hard time but the service made it hard to enjoy being there. Unfortunately, the food didn't help either. The fries were cold and hard, the burger was underwhelming, and the wings weren't good at all. I still paid and didn't send anything back because that's just how I handle things, but overall, a lot needs to change here. I didn't realize this location had such a low rating until after I came in, and now I understand why..
