I had the Jumbo Shrimp dinner and Blackberry cobbler. The shrimp dinner was delicious but only reason I ordered was for the Blackberry Cobbler. Worst Blackberry Cobbler I've ever had in my life plus it was overpriced. I'm not the type of person to throw food away even if it's not tasty as I expected but the trash it went. It did not taste homemade. The filling tasted like it was from a can with no sugar. Anyone who makes Blackberry Cobbler knows it needs more sugar than Peach Cobbler due to tart flavor of the berries. I'm serious when I say I remember when I ate here for the first time. It was 1993...and in Pville there weren't a whole lot of options (back then ) for places to eat out at. We'd just moved from North Austin to even more north where my parents bought a house, for 100g. Hey remember when brand new 4 bedroom houses cost that much? Pffffttt those days are long gone! To tell you that I used to love this place when I was a kid would be a fact. They are really good with kids here. But back then I was continuously boring and always got the steak finger basket. Mmmm hush puppies! Its true I've been here no less than 50 times since then. Until last night when my parents invited me to dine here with them. Mom got her tilapia plate, dad got his catfish plate. It felt a bit of deja vu because to tell you the truth NOTHING about this place has changed (besides the prices). The decor is exactly the same as it was in 1993...seriously. There are still rusty old bicycles hanging from the ceiling, along with other vintage items everywhere to be seen, the old picture frames of well..who knows who they are still remain on the walls, down to the "table cloths" with that picnic look of red and white checkered style, even the plastic silverare wrapped in a napkin is still in use. I also get deja vu here because the first time the S*****mobile overheated (last year actually) I drove into their parking lot, turned the car off as waves of smoke came in through the AC vents into my face. Of course I'm freaking out, but once I take time to think about it, the obvious answer is that all the coolant is GONE. A very thick hose had been punctured (WTF!?) so luckily I walk acorss the street to the auto parts store to buy the hose which only cost a whopping $10. Anti-freeze: $15-$20. Couple gallons of water: free. 5 minutes to remove piece of shit hose & replace. And thats how its done. Okay time to eat something fried. I tried both the catish and the tilapia but I'm just not a big fish eater. The fried okra was good and so were the fries. I decided to be risky and get the chili cheeseburger. It was huge and delicious and no I couldn't eat it with a clean face, just had to give up on that goal. Then theres my mom talking about a $350 breast pump (thats just insane), stating "you gotta get your nipples ready for a baby" and about how people go to some sort of nipple class to "toughen them up." So with all the nipple talks at dinner (I won't go into more detail, I learned things I never wanted to know about breast feeding and what happens to your nipples & hell no I'm not preggo) I wasn't too keen on finishing the burger. But I certainly won't turn down a free meal here when I'm up north. read more

The only thing that made this place even partially bearable was the fried green tomatoes. Aside from that this place is sad and the food very mediocre. Great find, home cooking, off the beaten path. This Sunday morning the buffet offerings were; buttermilk biscuits, best I have ever eaten and I am Southern by birth, thick cut, meaty bacon, scrambled eggs and other breakfast fare. Lunch items included fried catfish and shrimp, mac and cheese, beans, hushpuppies all of which were delicious. There were plenty of other items but one can only eat so much. I wish I could have given this place more stars, it has great potential. I just didn't have the best experience. The place didn't have many people dinning in so I figured the service wouldn't be an issue, well I was wrong. It took a good 10 min before we got our drinks and the fried catfish took at least 20 min to get to our table. The only thing out of my meal I enjoyed was the fries. The catfish was over battered and when I got to the actual fish part, it had a mush like texture. Fantastic food and the grilled catfish was the best I had ever eaten! I would say only 4 stars as they serve all their drinks in styrofoam cups. Styrofoam is so outdated and horrible for the environment. How about real large tea cups while eating in house and styrofoam or paper for take out? Went on a Friday night after the my son's H.S. soccer game. One of the mom's recommended this place. I had no idea what kind of restaurant this was. As soon as I walked in I could tell this was a VERY casual place. MY KIND OF PLACE! We went went with 3 other families with 6 High Schoolers. They had a room for bigger parties so we sat there. Waitress very nice. Took our SEPARATE orders (some places only like to make one ticket for several families). Waitress very patient. She took my wife and my order and then took our son's order who was sitting at another table. All of the kids sat at a different table than with the adult table so the waitress was bouncing back and forth. I had the Chicken Fried Steak. Excellent. Great breading, tender, gravy was just right. The fries were very good, nothing special but good. A salad came with the dinner. It could have been a meal by itself. My wife had the catfish and she said it was very good. Son (very picky)had a burger and he said he would like to have that again sometime. Meal was served on plastic plates with plastic utensil's. I had no problem with that. I have been craving some fried catfish all, and a coworker highly suggested this restaurant. And, I have driven by this place thousands of times since living in Pflugerville, but that is another story. Upon entering, I encountered 3 musts in a restaurant which the aroma, the ambiance, and a friendly hostess. Oops, it's always good to see happy patrons leaving the building too. Our waitress then offered us seating and promptly took our order. My wife and I were on the same mission for once, and fried catfish and shrimp were ordered. After a casual 20 minutes, the meals arrived and we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food served The first bite of the catfish was very pleasant, and the well-seasoned fish had an appropriate fish to crust ratio. Also, my wife likes a harder crust and they honored her request. The shrimp was delicious, and they were large and juicy morsels fried in a slightly sweetened flour batter. The cole slaw was creamy and appeared to have few chunks of pineapple in it. The pinto beans were flavorful followed by standard fries and spicy hush-puppies. Finally, the peach was really good and it too had some additional flavors that separated itself from other cobblers. Finally, Springhill Restaurant is a very solid restaurant offering fried seafood located on Pecan Street in Pflugerville. The decor is very personal, the ambiance is Texas/casual and the food delivers. You must try this restaurant. Do not wait 15 years like I did! read more

I want to give five stars because the food is so good. However I'm beginning to think they might be going out of business. I work late but on several occasions I have tried to book it over here before they close. Yelp says they close at 8:30, the sign says 9:00, it's currently 8:15 and they're shut down and closed. Been like that the past few times I come here. I'm afraid I can't take the let down much more and will just have to stop trying. We moved here from Dallas three months ago and have been here three times. It is the best tasting buffet I have been to. Chicken strips are better than Babes in Dallas. Catfish is great. i first started going here with my parents, then continued bringing my Mom, after Dad passed. it is high on character, low on portions and quality. their hush-puppies are nothing like Catfish Parlour's, wish they had two varieties. the fillets are ok, just not as tasty as they used to be. the sides are skimpy. the chocolate pie is good, yet pricey. beware if ordering to-go, i have had the meat products melt into the Styrofoam containers and ruin the meal. they also tend to forget items, like dessert, lol. it is a kitchy place to take out of towners with all the antiques hanging on the walls, and ceiling. if you took bigger portions and better quality and had deals to off-set the high prices this would be a good 'ol boy/girl place to go on a regular basis. read more

So I moved to P'ville in 2005 and this place was delish. Best burger I had in a while, then tried the Catfish which I also liked alot. Went a few times more and it seemed that the food quality just wasn't there anymore. Or perhaps my palate became more refined after expanding my food mind. This last time I went, I did the To Go thing and called in my order-Cheeseburger all the way, half order of fries and half order of rings. When I got there, it came out to like $17 dollars! I was shocked. I drove off thinking it was just me, but called on my way home to clarify-they charged my rings as an appetizer, not a side, and everything else was just waaay overpriced. Very disappointed today. It will be my last time to come for the lunch buffet. They've gone up on the price of the buffet to 12.99 and it no longer includes a drink. Everything was cold except the mashed potatoes. The potatoes were delicious as always but the fried catfish was cold, limp and tasted like mush. Well, after 20 years of eating here, I think this might be my last visit. It's gone downhill and just keeps on going. It's Saturday, 8pm the place is empty and my order STILL took almost 25 minutes, I mean how long does it take to fry shrimp these days in Pville? My cocktail sauce ice cream could not be used for my shrimp...frozen. Not sure what exactly it was, but after 10 minutes I was not feeling too swift, so could have been the fries, beans, oh anything at this point that made my tummy rumble. I used to LOVE THIS PLACE..but now, like all good things I guess it too must end. I go to Springhill a few times a month for the catfish buffet. I like this place a lot better than Catfish Parlor. They have good catfish here and the sides are better. The waitstaff is great, and super friendly. One of the things that I don't like about this place is the macaroni and cheese. Its a little too watery for me, I like a thicker cheese sauce. read more

Food was OK (A little too salty). I wasn't impressed with the dinnerware. I am not a big fan of eating on disposable dishes, so this is something of a deal breaker for me. We have been eating here for over 15 years. The last few times we have not been impressed. The Chicken Fried Steak use to be Amazing. The gravy has been like water lately. Tonight was the worst. Had no flavor and the gravy was so thin it just ran off. The prices are no longer reasonable for a family of 4 but then again what place is now days. We have given them a few tries and this may be the last. Our family of 4 was close to 70.00 and the food is no longer the place we would want to bring family to when they come to visit :( I guess things change over time. Wish the old wait staff was back. Employee turn-over seems high. Wish them luck but we have found Texan Cafe and Pie shop in Hutto our new go to place. Tonight at Springhill was such a disappointment :( read more

I really like Springhill Restaurant. It's got a very down-home country feel for such an urban area. The chicken fried steak is great! And huge. I got the biggest CFS I have ever seen there. The foam and plasticware is ok but not very earth-friendly. I would suggest they get some that is at least compostable. I agree the prices do seem high but I only go for the chicken fried steak and always get two meals out of it so I'm not so worried. Service has always been fine. Not outstanding but that's hard to find anyways. I would recommend this location to anyone especially those who love CFS as much as I do. read more

Ok place to go. Never have i seen a place that the food is so expensive, yet i have to use plastic forks, knives and cups. DON'T GET ME WRONG! The food here is good, if you like everything fried... I think they even may fry the salads(not really.) The one thing that i do like is that the waitstaff is friendly.
