The second I waited 30 minutes in line behind a Subaru and when I get out the window I was given the hold on a minute I'm busy finger. Either hire some more people or close the drive-through. Great donut shop, and the owners are so nice!! We came in the day after Christmas and had such a great experience. We order 3 breakfast sandwiches and 3 donuts. Spudnuts is my go-to donut shop in the Arden area! Spudnuts is hard to spot from the road, so pay attention to the small shop with a drive thru. Yes, the building and surrounding area looks older, but the quality donuts they sell won't make you think twice. I usually order the assorted dozen, which includes maple bars, twists, cake and old fashioned donuts. They run about $9 a box, but there is an additional $1 fee to use your card. The donuts have a slight crunch to them, which keeps them intact and not to mention texturally tasty. Nothing worse than a crumbly donut right before a meeting. They sell specialty donuts like apple fritters and bear claws. However, the custard donut holes are a must try. The donut holes are larger than most and has the perfect ratio of custard to donut. What separates this donut shop from others in the Arden area is the drive thru option. There is a small area to inside but seems like this place is geared for those on the go. So go ahead and get a pink box of Spudnut donuts. Definitely worth a trip. read more

Every family has their rituals and Spudnuts is included in one of ours. On the mornings that I pick my son up from visiting his dad's house we stop by Spudnuts for a quick bite and some coffee/chocolate milk. I have to laugh at the review complaining the donuts don't taste like potato. Who wants a potato flavored donut? Ew! Just go get some hash browns or tater tots and sprinkle a little sugar on them if that's the taste you are going for. What is important about the use of potato flour as opposed to the standard flour is that it makes lighter, fluffier, tastier donuts. If you have ever compared the difference between regular wheat bread and potato bread then you'll understand. The donuts aren't overly glazed or sugared which is a plus for me because I could never handle the over glazing of Krispy Kreme. The apple fritters are huge with chunks of apple inside and a slight crispy chewy crust. Tasty, but too big for me to finish one and I usually have to take half home or skip it all together and order something smaller. They also serve Java City coffee, croissants (filled or plain), and lunch time items (instant noodles, microwavable items, etc). There is a case with beverages like apple juice, bottled coffee, and I think some energy drinks, but I'm not totally sure since I don't get anything out of there very often. It isn't trendy or cool inside. It's just a funky little donut shop. They fill your order not only from a case, but the wall behind them. I mention that because some people only see the case and don't bother to look past the person getting the donuts. The people are friendly and patient with those having a difficult time deciding. The parking lot is kind of small, but most people get the donuts and go, so it isn't a problem. There is also a DRIVE-THRU. I'm not a donut eating maniac, but I gave this place 5 stars because it is the best place to go for the occasional donut fix. read more

I came here on Wednesday morning before work because I am on a mission to find the best donut shop in the Arden-Arcade area. Unfortunately, this isn't it. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, but just wasn't great. Somewhere in the middle towards the bottom. I was surprised there was no one in the drive thru when I stopped by, and only two people inside. I chose to go inside and saw the vast selection of donuts they had on display. I think you could find almost anything here! I chose a Glazed Buttermilk, a Chocolate Bar and a Maple Ring (I don't know what the official name is). Don't make the mistake like I did and only pick from the display case in front. LOOK UP! They have an entire display case behind it on the wall as well. The Glazed Buttermilk was my favorite! I usually only see these with chocolate or maple, so I loved this combination. The Chocolate Bar was OK, I liked the chocolate icing but it seemed a little overdone on the bottom so it wasn't very light. The Maple Ring I didn't like at all! I took two bites and threw it away, which if you know me and donuts, I never do! It was too oily for me and was crunchy on the outside and hollow inside. Not fluffy or nice, very weird. Overall, I would eat one of their donuts if someone brought a bunch back to the office, but I probably won't seek them out again. Only out of donut desperation!!!!! read more

Butter Milk !! Butter Milk !! Butter Milk !! the Asian lady is sooo nice here. I usually come in here once a week or every two weeks to get my butter melt fix and it is so damn good. It's not overly sweet which I love and the inside is a nice mixture of crunchy but fluff. It's wierd. It's like biting into a cloud and a fluffy chiffon cake at the same time. You feel the bread melt inside and it feels amazing!! I love savoring each bite. This place is not the traditional donut place because not everything is being mass produced. The lady will make fresh donuts if she's out and I feel bad when there are customers demanding a huge list of things from her or trying to rush this tiny 5'2'' lady to get their orders like she works at some McDonalds or something. Jesus people. I read some of the negative reviews and honestly I think ya'll want donuts that are super sweet or FRESH pipin hot donuts. Reality is that no donut shop does that anymore and overly sweet donuts will just lead yall to have a stomach ache and then we'll start seeing complaints that you got sick from the place. I am used to drive-thrus for coffee or quick meals, but donut drive-thrus are fairly new to me. When I saw Spudnuts for the first time, I made a mental note to stop here at some point. Arden restaurants and businesses have a lot to offer and with partially smoothed-out bedhead on a late weekend morning, I ventured through the drive-thru and was not disappointed. You drive right to the window (no electronic menu or ordering box at which to first stop) and there is a menu hanging above the drive-thru window displaying the prices and varieties of donuts. You can also walk straight into the shop. My chocolate glazed donut was good and as well as the glazed donut holes (a dozen donut holes are $1.50). The employee was friendly, efficient and threw in a complimentary glazed donut, making my trip down Arden even better since I have two days worth of breakfast now. Terrific donuts. The soft, puffy, tender donuts you'd hope for are prepared here daily. I enjoy the maple bars and donut holes (so convenient)! The breakfast sandwiches are exactly what you'd hope for. Other spudnut locations will cook your egg the way you prefer, over medium, over easy, etc. however this location uses the microwave method I believe and prepares decent scrambled egg patties. Sometimes though I need a runny yolk, as any breakfast sandwich connoisseur desires. If this location can quickly fry up an egg with a dripping yolk, they will dominate the breakfast sandwich world... at least in Arden-Arcade. read more

I just went through the drive-thru for a couple donuts for my trip home--you know, that snack you don't want anyone to know about so you sneak through the drive-thru because if you don't get out of your car no one will know, therefore it doesn't count? We had a local donut shop in Stockton named Lindy's Donuts on Charter Way that opened in the mid 1950's and went through 2 different owners, but recipes never changed. The second owner finally called it quits at age 76 this past March. Those donuts were made out of potato flour and they had a dense pastry like consistency to them that stood them apart from donuts made out of conventional flour. The end result was "melt in your mouth" deliciousness! These donuts, however, have a lighter & airier consistency to them and taste more like they are made out of conventional flour, but they said it's potato flour so I ask myself, why do these taste so different? They are delicious, nevertheless, but they don't taste like potato flour donuts to me. read more

The owner was so patient and sweet, he tried his best to explain all the menu options when I took a little long to decide. He gave me an extra donut just to try, a delicious glazed old fashioned I liked their many drink options which varied from coffee, smoothies, to Thai tea (which was good ~ a little on the sweet side). Okay this is my favorite donut place in all of Sacramento. The donuts are amazing, the Thai Teas are the best, (still can't get over how a donut shop serves Thai Tea in the first place and it's actually amazing) and the service is wonderful. I first started going here just occasionally when I first moved to Arden back in 2018 but over this last year I go every Friday. It is really fun for my now 2 year old toddler to have donut Friday's and they are so sweet to her! Every time we come in they hand my girl a donut hole and she loves to wave hi and bye to them, they are just wonderful. They also have a drive thru which is so convenient sometimes although I prefer to go in if I have the time. I can't wait until Covid-19 passes so I can start taking my daughter back in to get donuts, she definitely misses going in. read more

Donut holes are just alright imo. I went in on a Sunday morning to appease my quick craving, got one sugar donut, one maple old fashioned, and my friend ordered a dozen donut holes. Shouldn't have ordered the donut holes, clearly not the specialty here. The sugar donut was good, nice and fluffy and light sugar makes it sublime. I enjoyed the old fashioned donut for its texture, different from the usual thick old fashioned which is kind of too dense and heavy. This old fashioned was lighter in that way, but still had the feel and look of an old fashioned. Overall, yum if choosing the right type and would go again :) read more

I love LoVe LOVE Spudnuts !!! They are light and fluffy because of potato flour and the glaze is the perfect balance of vanilla . It just so happens to be one of the oldest Dounts Chains in the US . So I feel we are so lucky to have one in Sacramento . We go a great deal to enjoy our dount fix and always get a dozen holes for the road . This morning we saw a sale sign in front of our Beloved Spudnuts :( The owner is ready to retire from the donut business which makes my heart so sad but understands it's time . This is a cute, small family owned restaurant that serves a lot, and I mean a lot of doughnut options. The pricing is very reasonable for a large batch, it's made to perfection, and the service is extremely friendly; they gave my friend and I a small bag of doughnut holes as a bonus and it's actually a lot better than the doughnuts we ordered! Such a great first experience here. Came in before work on a whim to celebrate national donut day. Found this place on yelp and it was the closest to work. Got in just before 7:30 am on a Friday and it was busy!! Great service and fun/charming family working. I ordered the 10 dollar and some change for the dozen (the middle option) there's a cheaper and more pricey dozen. Super warm and fresh!! They threw in a few donut holes as well. My coworkers raved about the classic raised donuts, twists, and the blueberry donut!! My favorite were those denser classic ones. So good and so many compliments!! read more

My new favorite doughnut shop! The lady that runs the shop told us that the coffee used to be bad but she changed it when she came into ownership. They have a lot of drink options (including milkshakes and smoothies), I tried the Thai tea and latte. The Thai tea was really good, the latte ended up being good but she burned the espresso a little bit and it was really hot. The customer service was great, they're a very nice family. She gave us some extra doughnuts to try as well. Price wasn't bad either. The doughnuts are really fluffy and taste really good. Overall I would rate 4.2 out of 5 but that's not really an option so 4 out of 5 :)! read more

Walked in and told the lady working at the counter I had found the place on Yelp and that I was excited to try their donuts. She seemed happy that Yelp was driving people to her business, she asked me what I wanted and I ordered. I asked for a custard filled (see picture, it was the BOMB!!!) and a chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting and candy sprinkles. The phone rang and as she was having a discussion with someone on the other end of the phone, I was looking at the selection of different flavors that were for sale. She kept going back to the donut case and I didnt know why but was soon to find out... she stayed on the phone the entire time engaged in heavy conversation while ringing me up and then gives me a total of $1.75. She hands me the bag meanwhile she's pointing at it and smiling. I leave, get into my car and take a peek at my selection and she had given me 3 EXTRA'S !! I was like, OH HELL YEAHHHHHHH!! 5 scrumptious yummies for $1.75?? YAAAAAAS! Needless to say, I scarfed down 2 immediately because, why not? If this place was closer to where I live, I'd go back once a month just for that ridiculous custard filled piece of Heaven!
