I've been here a few times and I've had the Detroit-style Roadhouse Pizza and some cannoli. This genuinely might be one of the best spots in SF for pizza (this is coming from a guy who has only eaten at four pizza spots in SF, one of which is a small walk down Haight from Slice House). When I can't make it to North Beach, Slice House by Tony Gemignani is my go to for pizza that actually delivers, pun intended. Yes, $60 for a delivered pizza is going to make you pause. I get it. But hear me out. The XL pizzas at 20 inches are a real extra large, nothing like those precious little artisan cuts you get at a lot of SF pizza spots. I've had the Combo Americano and the Traditional Pepperoni and Italian Sausage and both have been outstanding. Chances are you're walking away with leftovers, so the math starts making more sense when you think about it that way. Fair warning to your delivery driver, a 20 inch box is no joke to navigate, but it arrives intact and holds up remarkably well for delivery. That alone says something about the quality. And do yourself a favor, tip them a little extra for hauling something this large to your door. Is it as special as sitting down at Tony's in North Beach with a fresh pie in front of you? Probably not. But it's the closest thing you can get without actually being there, and that's saying a lot. They do have an antipasto menu, but I have to be honest, who goes to a famous pizza place and doesn't order pizza? If you want to impress someone with what San Francisco has to offer in the pizza department and you're willing to splurge for a guaranteed great meal, this is your answer. Moral of the story - always check your pizza box before leaving because the staff may be prone to mistakes. Unfortunately, we ended up paying $55+ plus tip for 4 mediocre slices of pizza. The quality of the pizza was also worse than before. The tomato sauce used in the red pies was way too sweet and tasted low quality. Ordered through Door Dash hmeal delivery the following pizzas pictured which were the Motörhead, Pepperoni and another one which I am unsure of the name. The smaller pizzas were better than the pepperoni as when reheated it was too greasy. My go to pizza spot! Their slices are always on point and the slices are huge too. I've tried their plain cheese, the pepperoni, the Paesano, purple potato, Popeyes. All great! The service is great if you're ordering a slice, they'll pop it in their oven real quick and warm it up perfectly before serving it to you. They also have punchcards just FYI every time you order a slice, they'll give you a hole punch. You get a free slice after the 10th one. The ambience and vibes are pretty cool at this place. It reminds you of an old school restaurant vibe with a modern twist to it. They've got a ton more stuff on their menu, but honestly, I've only ever gone for their slices. Fast, delicious, fresh, and the staff are courteous and patient, especially if you're overwhelmed by the number of options on the menu. Very hard to go wrong, but if you like anything with a little bit of spice or you wanna get a bottle of their hot pepper olive oil to go, my go to pizzas are always the spicy ones. Someone told me that this was authentic New York pizza. It kind of looks the part, but it doesn't cook or taste like it. The slices are huge--essentially two for the (high) price of one--but the slice I received was so saturated in oil that the entire thing was a total wet mess. I guess it did not help that it was so incredibly hot from being reheated that I had to let it sit a while before I could even attempt to eat it. I prefer a crispy crust on my pizza, and this was the furthest thing from it. While the cheese seemed to be of good quality, the sauce was a little too acidic. Tony's is probably the pizza place I go to most often. Maybe Slice House isn't the destination date night spot - but if you are hungry it solves that problem fast and for not all that much money. Good deals are hard to find these days. I believe this is a great deal. I had a burrito and Mexican Coke the other day and I felt terrible after. It was like eating this brick of beans and rice and lard - terrible. Not only that I ate it in Oakland out of a food truck while among burned out vehicles, trash and rats roaming. Tony doesn't have any of the unpleasant. You don't feel like a stuffed turkey after you are finished. Not only that your pocket book doesn't hurt either. My Burrito and Mexican Coke was over $20 at El Gordo.... seemed a bit over priced especially given the ambiance. Bread and pizza is one of my favorite things to eat. Some of the best pizza in SF and they use the crave-able pepperoni ...the small kind that curl up a bit mmmm good. This was my second time trying the pizza and we got it yo go, it was ready super fast a hot/ fresh when I picked it up. The salad was massive and came with tons of bacon - much bigger than the same salad at the Livermore location. The meatballs were good and the sauce was sweet, but later in the night it didn't agree with me - maybe too acidic? We took some home to-go. As a New Yorker, I approve of the pizza. Pregame concert plans at Golden Gate Park are always an interesting situation. Haight street is a good place to eat especially those who have the munchies. On a Summer of Love stroll on Haight street once again I enjoy the restaurant customer experience especially if it reflects the neighborhood current vibe and history. For example the Starbucks at West Portal in San Francisco has pictures on the walls of its past neighborhood history and landscape. Entering Tony's Slice House you see the Haight Street Summer of Love decor and vibes and the customer experience which is different from the other Tony ( Capos) Tony (Stockton street ) Tony ( Chase Center) locations in San Francisco. I been enjoying Tony's pizza since the late 2000's when he used to make pizzas in Castro Valley ( not in San Francisco). I knew then the pizza was unique and not like any others I tasted anywhere. I never turned back and been enjoying his different pizzas for years. I enjoy coming to this slice house location because it offers both the Detroit and New York pizza slices. I first had the cheese New York thin slice and it was tasty and it didn't look cheesy but it got cheesier once I took a bite of it. The slice had good fold and a crunch to it. Then I tried the Rosa which was a squared cheesy and saucy which was flavor fully explosive with the caramelized crust giving it some flour ( flower) power. The pepperoni was crispy and aromatic giving it a tasty a hint of not too sweet but very savory flavor. I recommend this to anyone heading to Outside Lands next Friday to make a pit stop here. I also recommend anyone who is going to the Greatful Dead 60 year anniversary concert starting this Friday to enjoy a cheese slice you won't regret it because you will enjoy the sauce and you will be grateful( Greatful ) for the cheese. There was a crazy lady in the shop when I went. She started shouting at the staff and was ultimately driven out my the manager. I must say this is one great pizza place, especially if it's one of the sister store of Tony's pizzeria from Tony's pizza in the north beach area. I drive past this location a few times before and saw that there's always a line outside the store front but that's usually during lunch time. I decided to give it a try with the delivery service and ordered their combo pizza. I was told they usually stack on the ingredients on it and not shy of giving you a hearty heavy pizza. Gotta love that! The pizza was just like what everyone said it would be. Superb with mountains of ingredients on it and super delicious. If you love pizza and want to try this superb pizza you gotta try it once to appreciate it. The only drawback would be the pricy dollar amount for a whole pie whether it be small or large but the pizza is really good so what the hell. Once inside, we found the employees to be friendly and welcoming. The seating is limited, so it's more of a grab-and-go or quick stop spot, but the food makes up for it. Detroit Rosa may have been one, along with a white sauce specialty pizza it had several different type of meats on there and it was good. Wish I remembered the name. Paying $39 for 4 slices of pizza is insane even though the slices are quite large a small container of ranch is $1.00 also. But I guess I'm insane. Lol Sf prices so no surprise there.
