I get we are in Branson, so culinary excellence should not be expected anywhere around here, but this was pretty rough. Dirty tables and seats right off the bat. I don't think it was just our table either. The entire restaurant seemed like it needed a good cleaning. Do not expect good food here. Even our chips and queso were horrible. Ok, the chips were fine. The queso was pretty awful. Even my kids didn't want more than one bite. It was extremely bland, yet overly salty. Our dinners all came with rice and vegetables. The rice was undercooked and the vegetables tasted like they came out of a freezer bag. They really just messed up every food item. Thankfully, our waitress was excellent. Hence the extra star on this review. Stay away if you appreciate cleanliness and quality food. read more

Our waitress was brand new and didn't speak English very well. She was very polite but didn't know some of the questions, eg do you have tajin? Hubby said his shrimp was good and he enjoyed his fries as well. We ordered a peach margarita, which we shared because it was $22 for a 32 oz. Figure in the ice, it was more like maybe 20 oz. Absolutely awful. I got the Captains boil and everything was so overdone and also clearly had been frozen for a long time. It takes a a lot for me to not finish a seafood boil and I left over half of it untouched. Also had no flavor whatsoever. We had ordered the Cajun. Food portions are large and service was good. Food was ready in a reasonable amount of time and came out hot. Several of us got hamburgers and I was impressed by the size of the patty. We also ordered the nachos which was a large serving as well. It sounds weird, but I wish they had put LESS queso on the chips. The whole platter had lots of it at the bottom and that made all of the chips soggy by the time I got to them. I would give the taste of the food 4 stars, my wife says 3. Due to the large serving sizes, and the fact that I am writing this review, I bumped it to 4. Overall the food wasnt the best we had in Branson, but not the worst either. We tried this place after a long day of golf and should have turned around when I saw how filthy the floors were and the. felt our shoes stick to the floor all the way to our table. Trying not to be too judgy or rude we decided not to leave and ordered food. Crab dip was recommended by our server but I don't think there was a single flake of crab in it and the cheesy goo was just gross and the chips were flavorless. Tried the crab and shrimp boil and the crab tasted gross, shrimp was meh. My son had the butterfly shrimp and fries which were good but watching a server drop a to-go bag on the floor while he was holding a tray of food and then proceed to kick it up with his dirty shoes back into his hand and then put it back with the fresh bags made me lose all respect. We had called before we went and was told they had "Prime Rib", got there around 6:00 and it wasn't finished yet "". Waitress was great, Victoria was very helpful and gave top notch service. Since what we came there for wasn't ready (had a show to get to), we had "Ribeye" steaks. I know same thing just cooked different. Our problem with this place was the fry cook. We had all ordered steaks "medium rare" but my brother in-law's came out medium to medium-well (huge difference). The waitress asked us to cut into our steaks to make sure they were done to our liking. My brother in-law showed her that his was dark all the way through (over done!) and after looking she agreed. She said they would cook a new one. Great right? The fry cook came out and informed my brother in-law that it was properly done and continued to argue with us. Really dumb right? New Ownership! This location was Shorty Smalls the last two times we visited Branson and we found it reopened a couple of weeks ago as SS Dockside. No, SS is not Shorty Smalls related. This is a family operation. Note too, the location is right in the middle of the strip by the Boardwalk and new Aquarium. Somehow Yelp tied it to one of their other locations located in a marina and the photos are from that location. The service was great and they were very accomodating. We were wanting to have an early dinner and decided to go to Dockside Cafe. We hadn't been here since last summer and we were so glad we went there. We were seated right away by of all people the photographer. Lol. Really nice guy. No pressure to take or buy a photo. My husband had the chicken fried steak. It was so tender; you could cut it with your fork. I ordered the chicken alfredo and it was very good. Seasoned well. Our meal was delivered by a robot-kids would love this. Once we received our meal, we saw our server in the restaurant but never came back to our table. We had to ask another server for our ticket and he found her. Here she comes and we had to ask for a to go box and our ticket. Off she goes for the box. She comes back with the box and another table's drink which she delivered first (no problem here). We will return because the food was very good and priced on par with other restaurants here in town. Just hope we get a more attentive server or maybe she needs some more training. read more

We went to SS for the first time this weekend. Right when we pulled up we were happy we stopped. The atmosphere and ambiance was just what we were looking for. There is a bar area, general indoor seating and outdoor patio seating. The decor is beautiful, gorgeous wood. We got appetizers and drinks at the bar, day one. Since it is on the water they cannot serve liquor, instead they serve mixed drinks with sake. They also have beer, wine and champagne. We ordered the fried pickles and chips/queso which were excellent. The fried pickles were perfectly fried and not greasy. We decided to go back day two for dinner. Right away we were taken care of by Sean and Lisa who remembered us from the prior day. We ordered loaded fries, burnt end salad and catfish. The fries and burnt ends were amazing. Fries had gooey cheese, bacon and perfectly crisp fries. The burnt ends were juicy and perfectly seasoned. The catfish was not great, kind of fatty. We are used to fresh fish so it could be that we are spoiled. That is the only thing we didn't enjoy. We can't wait to go back! read more
