Found this pub for FIFA game in mountain view downtown . The restaurant inside has lots of TVs and table available , and all packed with people for the world cup game this afternoon . Found a table in front of a big tv , ordered beer, fish and chips , burger and wings . The fish and chips was average but the fries was pretty good , seems the fish not fresh but who care at that moment . Great first experience, stopped by before the Niner game and Mr Sosa was wonderful. It's rare when a server/bartender greets you then tells you he's fairly new and he'll do the best he can with their menu, Its so frequent that most workers just try to sell you anything and just say yeah that's good and move on. He mentioned what he's had and items customers have given great feedback on, fast service and super friendly and definitely kept my husbands energy up with all that football talk. We come here for the Irish breakfast. Really love it. Specially the sausage and pudding. It's very authentic! Excited to try the other Irish dishes at some point. Was in Mountain View for my wife's piano recital on Sunday (6/9). Decided to try out St Stephen's Green out of a whole slew of options. The lamb burger caught my eye. My low rating was solely because of the food. The ambiance and staff were top notch. The greeter went above and beyond what one would expect from a greeter, inviting us into the establishment. Our server, Samantha was very attentive. My son had the Kobe burger. He tells me it was ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. My wife had the Chipotle lime chicken salad. Again ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. I ended up eating half the salad as she could not finish it (nice size portion). I concur with my wife. As for me, I had the lamb burger. I had ordered it medium, but it seemed more like "well done (how most others would describe it). To me it was simply over cooked....as if left under a warming lamp while preparing the other dishes. One would assume the lamb fat would have kept the meat moist. We did not order drinks despite the place was a pub. We were just there for the food. MUST come at 4-5:30PM for the (SHH)Super Happy Hour, some of the food price at (HH)Happy Hour 5:30-6:30PM are the same as ordering off the regular menu although the drinks are cheaper but what is the point in drinking on an empty stomach! Sausage Rolls: pastry is super flaky although the sausage part lack a bit of seasoning but there is this overpowering mustard sauce on the bottom so overall ok. Scotch Eggs: I called this the meat lover delight, the boiled egg is covered with mince meat, roll in breadcrumbs and deep fry. Super delicious! Shepherd Pie: buttery smooth mashed potatoes I can eat that just by itself, the meat filling was a bit on the salty side but goes well with alcohol. I would just order this basic on that mashed potatoes. Steak Sandwich: overcooked steak although it comes with a mountain of fries which kind of makes up for steak, still will skip this next time. Bread Pudding: ok, a bit tippy at the end to remember this... Our server Andrew was phenomenal, when we arrive there it's only few customers but when we leave it was already 90% full, and he was still the same attentive & friendly self so thank you Andrew! It is an Irish pub looking pub with lot of TV but it was clean, no sticky table or un-sanitize bathroom, their bathroom are definitely cleaner then most of the other establishment on Castro Street. Kristen made a monthly luncheon I have with a friend most enjoyable. We went for their special $12. meal, ordering the Caesar Chicken Wrap sandwich with a side of steak fries. The meal was memorable and their steak fries are, in our opinion, the VERY best on Castro Street. My friend and I, both senior citizens, have been going up and down Castro Street, trying as many restaurants as we can, to broaden our culinary horizons. We've made it a point to compare the fries of every establishment, given the opportunity. St. Stephen's Green meals are both appealing to the eye and excellent in quality, all the way around. When my friend and I saw Kristen delivering orders to the tables of other patrons, we made mental notes about what we can order on future visits. With the prices at $12 or thereabouts for many items, going here won't be just as a treat. I highly recommend St. Steven's Green for any day, and even for a quick meal to go. The first time we went here, it was on a weekend, for their Full Irish Breakfast - it was memorable! If there were more than just 5 stars, I'd give that to this establishment, and to the wonderful Kristen, who made our (2 hour) lunch great! read more

I will start by saying that the server was excellent. Very attentive, and friendly(tipped him well), but my Gin and Tonic's were the most unusual, and strange tasting I have experienced. I did search, and found that the syrup used is Dugan & Dame tonic which requires that it be mixed with club soda in order to provide the "fizzy" element to the drink. They did not add anything fizzy, which meant it was Gin and the syrup. Bartenders should know that a Gin and Tonic requires, a bubbly tonic or club soda. Please make sure they know to add this the next time a patron orders it. Otherwise, I have enjoyed my many visits to St Stephens, and would recommend it. read more

The best thing about this place are the bartenders Luis, Pablo, and Danika - great service and super friendly. The pub used to have good happy hour specials, but they raised their prices (and somehow their salads got worse), so now there are lots of better options for grabbing a bite to eat on Castro. read more

A group of Germans and Brazilian decided to stop by today to see the Brazil versus Chile game. This place has a TV facing outside so you can watch programs under the sun. Only problem was that they were playing music and we wanted to hear the game. So we spent half a game inside and half outside. But the server was super courteous. Everyone enjoyed their food and beers.I was looking for a dark lager or a German bock style but had to settle for the Kona. I ordered the shepherd's pie and it did not disappoint. I've been coming here for years-- started with a date with a guy many years ago (and I remember being impressed by their beer selection!). Then girls night out before the pandemic... boy oh boy.. tequila shots back in the day (before I turned 35). Cosmo martinis with friends, etc. Back to my most recent experience. I came here on Saturday night. First time in 2 years. And I had a FANTASTIC time! Bartenders here are very friendly. I was here with a group outside, they even had a TV outside!! (facing the tables) So customers could watch the Warriors game (and the Dubs beat the Denver Nuggets). It was fun sitting outside too. A friend of mine was here last week and they told me about patio seating being open at this place. Since I hadn't been out and about for almost five months, I was interested in getting drinks in a socially distanced setting. My buddies and I were able to get a table real quick. There's a bar code on each table which when scanned shows the menu. We ordered a Mai Tai, a couple Irish Mules, a hummus plate and some fries for the table. The wait staff were all wearing masks and the silverware were wrapped with paper napkins. The tables are spaced apart and everyone was maintaining distance as best as they could. The drinks were alright, the fries had a nice crunch and the hummus plate had a nice assortment of sides. The pickled onions and hummus were standouts. Named after a famous park in Co Park Dublin Ireland where people would go to gather and get away,it really does keep up with that history. I have been coming in here for years off and on since 1999. Nestled right in the lovely S Peninsula town of Mt View, on the famous Castro Street, this Irish pub is a great place for a simple, yet delicious lunch or dinner. This is the home to where years ago I went with my lovely cousin and had my first Snake bite drink, a mix of Guinness and Cider topped with lemon. It was made to perfection Today we stopped in, and they have wonderful outside dining with your Total Covid19 spec's all in place. I had the Spicy Castro Burger which was made to perfection. So its a half pound of Angus Beef topped with chorizo and pepper jack cheeses, sauteed onions, some chiles and served with Steak Fries. I am so dam picky about food, but it was great. My friend ordered the same which he loved, his wife ordered the Stephens Burger, with a side of vegetables, as she was said it was great! This place is also known for its awesome Fish N Chips that is a must, I have had it years back, and it was awesome. They also do a Smoked Salmon on Irish Soda Bread which is amazing! So many great plates. If you are a beer drinker they have over 35 beers on Tap and the Best of the Best. Love this place. Again our staff was wonderful! Many thanks to Kate for being that great hostess to us, and all the other wonderful staff that were there to make our experience at St Stephen Green awesome. 12/12/24 came to watch the 49ers game . Wasn't packed at first but as the game progressed the pub filled up . We got greeted and sat by Samantha super quick . She explained the food items very well & was very attentive even though the restaurant was filled ! . We enjoyed a nice early meal here. It was quiet and the service was great. I ordered the chicken fettuccine in Vodka tomato cream sauce. My husband had sausages with mashed potatoes. We shared a beet salad with a citrus sauce. The salad was made more interesting with the addition of pistachio nuts and tangerine segments. It came with feta cheese, which I do not care for, but since it was thrown on top, it was easy for me to pass it on to my husband's plate. They used both red and yellow beets in the salad. My husband enjoyed his sausage, which came with a mustard gravy & the mashed potatoes, which included leeks and onions. I liked my pasta as well. I frequent here a lot and it's a great vibe and affordable place for all times especially for downtown. Anyone who works at this establishment is typically very sweet and attentive. On 1/27 around 3pm an older balding gentleman with glasses gave me the worst service I have ever received in downtown Mountain View. I asked for my first drink, and he said "we're doing that today." Then I asked for my second choice and he said, "no, not today." I ended up needing to sit someplace other than the bar and let him know that I intended to move outside. He was clearly upset at the change of plans and acted as though it was a huge a huge inconvenience. The attitude and clear distain for my requests made my visit very uncomfortable. Having worked in the field of customer service for years, I understand when a server is having an off or bad day, however, I was very polite with my requests. He made me feel like everything I requested was a huge inconvenience. This was during a slow period in the day as well. Trivia Monday night at 8pm is awesome. Whole bar is filled with people playing. Mostly Stanford students but we didn't do that bad comparatively! The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, typical Irish bar feel. The wait staff is super nice. The trivia host was funny and I really like how they put all the questions on the screen, and some where photos or music questions where they played the music too. Eggs were also super oily and overall good was not that good. We've been here a couple times for their Monday night trivia. The trivia itself is always a really fun time. It gets crowded super fast and it's hard to get a table sometimes, so highly suggest getting there early. I've gotten drinks there before, which were pretty good. My friends have gotten food there, which they said was alright and not bad. However, every time we've gone we've always had missing items. It does get crowded during trivia, however even when we've checked on the items they've either not come at all, or have taken an hour or so to arrive. I went during winter when it was cold and they had an amazing selection of flavored hottie toddys, spiced/alcoholic ciders, and holiday drinks. Man talk about all the flavors of Thanksgiving and Christmas + an outside heater and a dark cold evening. The flavors, weather, and heaters set the mood. I did order chicken strips and they were nothing to exciting like kiddie frozen ones but I will say they have some delicious ranch and honey mustard. Ate here a few weeks ago while family was in town, and was very happy with the experience. Just barely ordered before Happy Hour ended (or was it Super Happy Hour? I don't recall!). While I wasn't really all that hungry, I opted for the fish and chips, because it's my goto for testing this type of place on a first visit. It was HUGE fillet, with crispy breading that was properly fried. I almost couldn't finish it, which is odd for me. Could have used a lot more lemon, as one piece doesn't do much, but that's such a minor issue. The service was great, even though our server was literally on her first shift, and being shadowed by another staff member. All in all it was a great experience. read more
