Such a vibe. One of my favorite places to work, with a great outdoor seating area and tons of space. Great coffee, great food, great service. One of the better cafes I've been to ANYWHERE, and definitely worth the trek from further out areas of the city. The only negative is that there is no in-house WiFi, so you'll have to use LTE or connect to a public WiFi hotspot like xfinity if you plan on bringing a laptop. I think management does this to make the place feel less tech-centric and more conversational / friendly. So overall a net positive IMO. read more

The only thing is the food is not really I would intentionally come back for, though I only tried the avocado toast. Don't freak out by the amount of chili flakes on there because it doesn't taste anything, really, as if it's just display. The espresso beans they use are medium roast I guess because it tasted very acidic. If you're a dark roast coffee fan you might not like their espresso drinks. The wrap comes with awesome sauce, which lives up to its name. At first glance, it appears to just be salsa. But when you dip and have a bite, you realize it's so much more. Both the bagel and wrap came with a couple small pieces of fresh fruit to garnish the plate. Our coffee was average at best, but the food alone was worth a return visit. This has become my favorite spot in the city. The staff quirky and fun, the food is consistently great, and the garden vibes are awesome.

I'm still a bit speechless with how delicious this cortado was. So smooth, full bodied, flavorful...every sip was amazing. I absolutely loved the vibes first impressions walking through the cute doors. Service was phenomenal, friendly and kind. Best chilaquiles I've ever had at a cafe. I had a drip to top off the cortado and wasn't surprised that was just as delicious. The patio was such a blessing and what a beautiful day it was too. Turkey sandwich was super lame. $17 for what looked and tasted like the most basic sandwich. Bread was small sliced bread, aioli lacked flavor, turkey, avocado and lettuce left me wanting more. I go to this spot regularly. Love the outdoor space love the coffee, but the barista with the glasses and facial hair always gives me attitude. I don't know if he doesn't like me for some reason or what, but he's always rude to me and it sucks. I'm a regular customer so I don't know why he treats me poorly. During my last visit he called the wrong name for my order so I waited to hear my name, and he gestured to the drinks pointing at me and said the wrong name again, and I said I was waiting for drinks for "my name" and he responded to me with "whatever". Not great service if you ask me. Get a nicer barista, getting treated like crap when you spend 30 bucks on coffee and breakfast doesn't make people want to come back. What a nice find in the Mission, and I don't think if has anything to do with horses. There were no photos of Seabiscuit or Mr. Ed on the walls. The name could refer to the mental state of the customers who linger here as it's a becalming spot that doesn't induce fits of hysteria unless we all start talking about the current political landscape. Actually I found out later that the building was once a carriage house so now I get it. I came in here thinking I could get a light breakfast after my gym workout, and I was right as they have quite a menu of creative-sounding global dishes made with fresh, organic ingredients. I had every intention of choosing between the yogurt with granola or the hot oats, but what appealed to me in the moment was the $6 Piaf, which was a roasted tomato topped with scrambled eggs and slices of brie (photo: http://bit.ly/2wrVssH). With a good dousing of hot sauce, it was a light, delicious treat since it had been a while since I had eaten eggs. The aesthetic here is so cute/cozy and the workers are very welcoming. I'm here on a Thursday morning so it's very quiet. The cafe itself has an open concept, with the whole front garage-ish door being open. It's like a little loft with a few seats upstairs. The outdoor area in the back is super spacious and can technically be considered a backyard garden. Cute coffee place in the Mission District with the typical coffee selection, plus a hearty food selection for breakfast/brunch/lunch too. They close relatively early at 4pm, so this place is only good from morning til early afternoon. There are a handful of tables, plus some upstairs in the loft, and I believe some more out on the patio (though I've never ventured out there myself). The coffee drinks are good, but they don't have any fancy pour overs or drip coffees or anything like that. They were good about making normally-hot-drinks into cold drinks (meaning they mix it up properly before making it iced) which was awesome. They also use hay straws, which is eco-friendly, but a hit or miss because they are kind of flimsy. They do charge a 50c fee if you're paying with card and the total is less than like $5, so ring up with a buddy if you want to avoid this extra charge. I came here with a friend after searching for breakfast cafes in the area. The cafe itself is super cute with a really nice outdoor seating area! We both ordered the smoked salmon tartine (5/5) which was really good! It was super flavorful, the bread was crispy, and they definitely were not shy on loading up the salmon. I also got an iced vanilla oatmilk latte (4/5). It was good but I would definitely say there's better coffee out there for the price point. The reason I am knocking it down a star is because of how expensive it was. The Food The quality of ingredients is reliably superb with consistent preparations. Both weekly brunch specials are too good to miss: chilaquiles or juevos ranchers. Trust me, you'll want to order both! If I ever forget to pack a lunch, I know I can always grab a healthy, gourmet lunch when I grab my morning coffee. A bit lavishly priced for my everyday, but really helpful. The Staff I have never in all my life have been remembered so thoughtfully by an entire team of employees. I feel like they must close at 4pm so they can all meet and do team-building activities and do crafts together. They are always down for a little banter, even if its 8am and neither of us are particularly chatty. I always feel heard here. Indoor Seating Intimate but comfortable. I love the view as you look out at Folsom from the stable's loft. Seating gets a bit challenging on chilly rainy days when the outdoor area is too cold. Outdoor Seating Charming, lush, rustic, and ample spaces to team up or center in as you sip and work. Plan for a line. It's not always out the door and there are also definitely sweet spots when the line is most manageable. Just know, this is not a spot to stop in on your way for work unless you add an extra 10-15 minutes on your morning. That being said, the wait has gotten SO much better than when I first visited two years ago. read more

I stumbled on this cafe only because my airbnb host mentioned it to me. It has the best outdoor seating (a leafy patio in back) in all of San Francisco. Afterwards, I spent literally hours trying to find another one. Most outdoor seating in San Francisco is on the street, under makeshift tarps, which I find rather dismal. The roast beef sandwich (with accompanying salad, $15) was fine. One thing to note as well as this category of cafe opens early in the morning and closes mid-afternoon, in general (3:00 pm). This limits them to serving breakfast and/or lunch. I really do wish that they could extend their hours at least until the end of the afternoon (like Farley's, which doesn't serve meals) or, even better, early evening, for those San Franciscans and visitors who wish to relax without having to go to a bar. read more

DO NOT come here if you're on a strict gluten free diet. I ordered the rice bowl which said was gluten free on the menu. One of the ingredients is gochujang sauce which often isn't gluten free. After the staff member "triple checked" with the kitchen, he informed us that they recently changed the recipe and it's no longer gluten free. What kind of Mickey Mouse operation is this? Cute little cafe and coffee shop on Folsom St. Just off the bat be aware that parking is terrible -- walk if able. I loved the outdoor seating. There is a lot of it and it's cute and comfy and has a good feel. The indoor seating is kind of in a loft area and surrounded by lots of house plants. The whole place has a lot of light and a good energy. I ordered a chai latte and a fried egg sandwich with kimchi. The chai latte was decent and I really liked the sandwich. Definitely recommend this spot to get your caffeine fix and hang out/read a book/WFH. No outlets though. read more
