Tarragon Café, San Francisco: 2026 Feb 11
Maggie T.

Tarragon Café, San Francisco: 2026 Feb 11 (5 of 5) We were looking for a coffee shop with outdoor seating, and chanced upon this little café on Fillmore Street. After placing our orders, a sudden downpour changed our minds. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were lucky to find a table near a large window overlooking the street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered lattes, but it wasn't just the lattes that warmed our heart. The service is top-notch. The servers were friendly and brought warmth on this cold windy day. Good coffee is not only due to its balance or aroma, but the person who makes it. We'll definitely be back - perhaps to sample their sandwiches.

New England Clam Chowder soup & salad

Lynn F's love for Tarragon Cafe sent me in, finally! Tarragon Cafe has a very sweet collection of menu items to satisfy a diverse mood and taste: Soup and salad, frittatas, paninis, chicken Caesar, nachos, avocado toast, hummus plates, pain au chocolat, ham & cheese croissant, biscotti and all sorts of specialty coffees and teas. I enjoyed their New England Clam Chowder and salad, it was excellent. Their soup of the day- and I was torn between choosing- was Thai red curry. Service was warm and personal, ambiance was calm and welcoming. SFFD stopped in to pick up lunch and I thought that was another absolute vote of confidence in Tarragon Cafe. I love my neighborhood!

Sous Vide Pork Belly Banh Mi Panini
Anindita C.

The banh mi was delicious! I've had it twice and I can say it's delicious! It might not be an authentic one since this is a panini and not on a baguette but the pickled vegetables, and pork belly was delicious. I had a kale quinoa salad once and I do not enjoy it. It had lettuce in it and that was not appreciated by me. The service is quick and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dogs are allowed outside but not indoor so I would call it dog friendly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Every time I come here I am delighted with the vibes and food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Caesar chicken wrap is a must try from the menu! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is loads of seating both inside and outside to enjoy your drink or meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Decided to walk into this place because it smelled really good![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I noticed a sign that there's no laptops on the weekend so I assume lots of people come here to work/study on the weekday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Walked up to the cashier and ordered an almond croissant and a chai latte. She rung me up. I was waiting for the croissant but it didn't seem like she was getting it for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also it wasn't busy, there wasn't a line forming behind me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then people started rolling in when I was waiting. I asked the cashier that rung me up if she got the croissant I asked for and she flat out said no and proceeded to do what she was doing.. She barely even acknowledged me... Chai latte was ok. It's house made but too spicy(cinnamon) for my taste.

This place is great! The food is always tasty, always fresh. The service actually feels welcoming, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]there's plenty of seating - indoors and outdoors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I stopped by today and tried the new breakfast tacos - YUM! I didn't expect such a treat on a random Wednesday morning, and it started to turn my day around for the better.

Chicken Caesar Wrap

Such a good Chicken Caesar wrap. Everything you look for in a CCW. Tortilla was nice and warm, great wrap job, tons of chicken, croutons were crunchy until the end, lettuce very fresh and crunchy and perfect amount of dressing. Also comes with chips as a bonus. 9.6/10 wrap, I like it better than Mama's. If you're craving a CCW look no further than Tarragon.

Caprese Panini
Makena L.

Very cute and quick sit down lunch or just to sit and work! Plenty of seating indoors and some two person tables outdoors. On a sunny day, it's a lovely cafe to sit in and have a coffee chat. It's super close to Duboce Park too, so you can easily meander over there and dog watch after; people often bring their dogs to the cafe and sit outside as well. There's also live jazz on on Thursdays(?) at 5:30pm. I got the Caprese Panini ($14 + tax). The bread was super crispy and the pesto inside was delicious. There was a good ratio of mozzarella and tomato for me. Paninis come with a side of potato chips.

Great caesar wrap from a small, community cafe! Love stopping by to support their business when I can.

Came in around 1pm and there was a pretty big rush! We ordered quite a lot to try a bunch of different things. 1. Pork Belly Banh Mi Panini 2. Chinese Chicken Salad 3. Clam Chowder 4. Eggs and Bacon Everything tasted very fresh and very tasty! Interior was clean and I liked the open kitchen. Dog friendly with outdoor seating! Will be back~

They explained that the flight includes an espresso shot, espresso shot with milk, hot coffee, and iced coffee. I hadn't had a straight espresso shot before, so this wasn't for me personally just because it was so overpowering. I enjoyed the other three though. Like the majority of SF, parking is difficult to locate. I was dropped off nearby the location. There is indoor and outdoor seating; I was able to grab an empty spot late in the morning on a weekend, but I don't think seating is always readily available. It's not a huge space.

It seems like there's also an upstairs but did not get the chance to check it out. I got an iced latte with their almond macadamia milk, and they're also so nice to do complimentary cold brew! So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

They do offer WiFi is a great bonus and they have a restroom for customers. There is a couple of 2 person tables, a window side table for solo patrons, a communal table that can seat 6-8, and lots of outdoor seating. I would classify coffee shop as your neighborhood cafe that is great to get some work done and not necessarily a spot with unique drinks. They do have a good selection of pastries for you to try from (unfortunately I was too full prior to try!) I do appreciate that they did have samples for you to try out. Something cool I noticed is that they did have individual mini water pitchers with mini cups for you to take from their sugar/milk station. It's very thoughtful and I appreciate the attention to detail. Not a spot to drive to or add to the list as a must try but if you need a spot to lock in, this is a good choice if you're in the area :)

Scan the qr code to order and they'll bring your drinks/food up to you I thought the food was quite good. I ordered the Galbi Patty Melt which came in the form of a croissant sandwich that had a great size and flavors. A friend ordered the kimchi fried rice. The portions and flavors on both were solid for a cafe. Definitely worth getting some food if youre planning on staying for a while. For coffee, i ordered the sohn signature cream top. This was a little underwhelming, as i felt the espresso didnt come through as strongly as i would have liked. The cream top also did not have much flavor which made it feel more like a normal latte than a signature item. Not bad, but not a must have either. Overall will come back. Good vibes, and a solid place to work from. There are some tables upstairs that are right under the AC, so it can be a little breezy

But Katsu is really becoming the new hype of the day for Japanese food, following the Sushi, Ramen, Japanese Curry, Katsu trend. So I came in with a critical view. I feel like Yoshoku in general may be next but I yet again digress. The box sandwich came in a cute little box. The inside was packed so I couldn't get a chance to fully appreciate the cafe, but the service was nice though the pay line may have moved slower than hoped. I'll say this. This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Even then, I don't think any tasteless tech bro are hopeless to create anything unique or beautiful.
