They some tables out on the street for the summer. I recently had dinner here some friends. I had the Pesto Chicken Caprese sandwich. It was tasty and certainly a well above average sandwich. It was a little goopy for me though. It was the basil pesto aoli that made it that way. I think that I would have prefered just regular pesto. The mozzarella on the sandwich was really nice and fresh. A friend had the short rib Bahn Mi and really enjoyed it. The people working here were very friendly and the food came to the table quite quickly. I don't have a lot of occasions to dine in Winnetka but while it's not good enough to bring me in for no reason, I would certainly come back if I am in the area and need to grab a bite. read more

Folded: Garlic Shrimp Taco and Panko Crusted Avocado Taco - both very tasty and generously topped with high quality slaws and salsas. Stacked: Korean Short Rib Bahn Mi (very good, the largest sandwich of the 3), Duck Bacon BLT (tasty but very messy to eat), and Pork Belly and Egg Sandwich (our favorite of the 3 sandwiches). Everything was either organic or non-GMO. All the food tasted fresh and was properly salted / seasoned. Conveniently located across from my trainer (shout out to Definition Fitness*) I often come here to eat all the calories I just burned off. Fortunately, they do have healthy options on the menu like their ahi tuna salad. However, their not quite as healthy ahi tuna tacos are my personal favorite. Even better...their sweet potato fries and homemade chips! The service is fast and friendly. There are a few tables if you prefer to eat in. I'm always in good company there, but it's never too crowded. More often than not I end up picking up my order to take it home. I have only been here twice but it was delicious both times! I am so happy to find this little gem. I love the variety of food available here and everything I've tried has been great. To start off with, the service was excellent! Everyone is very helpful and accommodating. We order and they bring the food to you. I decided to sit outside every time I came because I'm a sucker for outdoor seating and the options inside aren't too plentiful. The first time I came I ate the chicken fajita tacos which were great! I love that they add fresh lime to kick it up a notch with acidity. The next time I came, I was craving something filling comfort food and the cheesesteak is officially one of my guilty pleasures. I ordered, at the suggestion of the cashier, two tacos: ahi tuna poke and the al pastor, both for takeout. they were carefully packaged, in a folded chinese takeout style paper box!, and both had a lime wedge included. the ahi tuna taco was not equal in size to the pork taco, but in spite of that, both tacos were very good and the sauces and toppings were a great match. a good variety of choices within each category and yummy enough at the first tasting to encourage a second trip back. :) read more

This is a quaint restaurant. It's very small a few tables and a counter to sit at. Order at the counter and it's cooked to order. I tried the turkey and Brie sandwich. It comes on a raisin marble bread and stacked with turkey, apples and Brie. The portion is great for the price and the flavor is great. My only complaint is that the sandwich was very. Josh was such a pleasure to meet, and we discussed his passion to source things locally. He gets his meats from Hofherr in Northfield. What a great way to keep it in the community. On to the menu. I love that it's small and specialized. This typically means you know what to expect each and every time, and there is also the chance to actually try everything at least once. The menu and vibe kind of reminded me of a funky cool urban food truck, but in a storefront setting. Josh could totally take this concept on the road in my opinion. Lets start with the bad. The salmon taco was good, but the salmon was painfully dry. The shrimp had little to no flavor, and was coldish, which threw it off. I would have preferred a rendition of fried shrimp perhaps with a garlic sauce. the avocado taco was lacking avocado flavor surprisingly ( maybe not a ripe avocado?) and the Banh Mi while ok, it lacked flavor, not a lot of veggies, the meat was borderline dry and the bun was a travesty. They took a bun out of a bag and put stuff on it. With the consistency of a stale sponge, it detracted from what could otherwise be a good sandwich. Since Banh Mi literally means bread, I would hope the bread to be a star. Meh frozen tater tots were recommended and uninspiring. I would hope with such a menu, there would be a specialty, in house made side. Lamb was dry, although wet, and had greek ingredients on top. should just call it a greek taco, as I would not necessarily expect lamb to be topped this way, and the ahi tuna salad was good, but not special. The tacos, salads, and sandwiches are consistently high quality and delicious and the service is always super professional and warm. We especially love the tacos and the turkey burger. The tuna poke taco is delicious, practically overflowing with chunks of tuna and topped with a delicious wasabi sauce. I have been here many times. Of the dishes that I've tried I about half are great and the other half are lacking. To me the best dishes are the panko crusted avocado taco and panko crusted avocado salad. They are unique dishes and filling. I also liked the chicken Parmesan sandwich. I have tried most of the other tacos and to me, many are lacking flavor. The biggest disappointment to me is the price of the menu items compared to the amount of food. On the garlic shrimp salad, I had a bowl full of romain lettuce, probably 4-6 shrimp and a few very tiny vegetables mixed in. Same with the caprase salad, supposed to come with avocado, there was probably a tablespoon worth of avocado in the salad. Charging $12 for these salads seem steep given I was not even full after eating the whole salad. I get that it's a Winnetka restaurant and they are clearly using fresh ingredients so I should expect higher prices but this seems a bit extreme. I like the restaurant and would like it a lot more if the value were better. The owner seems very dedicated to making his customers happy and I do hope they make it long-term. read more

It is a quiet, unassuming little gem which if you walk too quickly, one can pass it right by. I recently visited for a quick business lunch and was greeted by a very energetic cashier. First time there and asked for a recommendation: great minds think alike and he recommended the Turkey and Brie warm sandwich served on a pecan and raisin bread, just what I was leaning to. I was not disappointed and ate the whole gooey, crunchy wich. Delish! Don't let the $10 price deter you, the sandwiches are over sized and let's face it, if you can get a lunch for under $15, it's economical. Stacked & Folded have counter seating, a few tables and take away service. You can phone your order in ahead of time or walk in and place your order. The food is freshly prepared promptly. One day the hubs and I decided to avoid the expressway and take Green Bay Rd home from the Chicago Botanical Gardens. Felt hungry and did a quick Yelp search. To our surprise this spot came up as highly rated so we took a detour for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the food, but not so pleased with the prices for items aside from sandwiches. I ordered the Bulgogi Cheese Steak, which is juicy and greasy. It's a tasty sandwich, but prepare yourself! The flavors and the feeling you have afterwards may be a little overwhelming. I also ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke and Al Pastor tacos, which are in the $5-$6 range! They tasted OK, but I don't see why an al pastor taco should be this pricey. Stacked & Folded is a great addition to the restaurant scene in Winnetka! I've eaten in a few times and also ordered large group orders via phone on two separate occasions and everything was perfect. One of the staff members is so incredibly nice, has a great attitude and it's obvious he really cares about his customers and people in general (wish I remembered his name!). He was patient when I had a long list of items for an order and the food was still hot by the time we popped it all open at home.
