We put our name on the list, wait time was 25 min. as soon as i gave him our name I looked at my watch and sat down, almost 35 min. went by and when I got up to ask why it was taking longer than we were told, he said it had only been 15 min. and showed me the time he wrote down which was NOT the time we gave our name. I told him that I checked my watch because I had to feed the meter and that was not the correct time and not only was he very rude but he acted as if I did something wrong. Went here with a couple of friends a while back just to hang out because there was one in SF that my friends heard about and wanted to try it. Overall the food and service was good. Came on a weekday so the line wasn't that bad but I've seen the line on weekends and dang it is always super packed after like 11AM I love the pancakes here. I'm normally not a fan of blueberry pancakes but the ones here taste really really good. Just the perfect amount of everything on it. On weekends they do give you coffee and juice outside since there is always a line to accommodate the wait time. This restaurant manager is absolutely amazing!!! My 80 year old father was visiting from Miami and this is his favorite breakfast restaurant. We have been coming here for over 15 years for our traditional father/daughter goodbye breakfast. With a lack of time, I called and asked if we could put an order in just as I would get off the exit for the restaurant so we could sit right away and eat and go. With no hesitation he said "absolutely!" We got our order in when exiting the 101 freeway, parked, and got right in. With a smile we were seated and in 2 minutes our warm beautiful breakfast plates were in front of us! The manager and waiter were fantastic and swift with the bill and our box for the leftovers. Our conversation was relaxed and centered around how beautifully decorated the restaurant is and how efficient/friendly the staff was once again. We had another delicious experience at Stacks! I went here on the morning of November 14, 2011 to celebrate my sister's birthday i nice breakfast spot that i heard about. We were a party of 3 around 8 or 9am no wait but the inside was pretty packed. We were seated at a table with 6 seats but I was glad to be seated quick and promptly. There's a reason there's always a line around the corner. Everything I have had (or anyone with me has had) has been phenomenal. They're really good about switching things on the menu and customizing things. They also give you a whole pitcher of water and coffee on the table to serve yourself, which is ideal for those weekends. The only problem I have w/it is on Sat & Sun it's like family hour in there w/kids running around all over the place making lots of noise. During the week it's perfect though. If you see the line and the gaggle of children and pause to think if it's really worth it, trust me and give it a try. You'll need a nap after, but it's worth every bite. read more

I go to Stacks about once a month for brunch. They have a great variety of omlettes and sandwiches. They food is alway tastey and the service is friendly and fast. I like that they give free coffee while you wait and you can stroll the nice neighborhood and window shop while you wait. The omlettes are what I usually order. We ordered a short stack of plain and blueberry pancakes, a side of pork sausages, egg whites, and spicy links. The pancakes were very fluffy and melted in my mouth. It honestly felt like a warm hug. I love it when restaurants get their pancakes right, no wonder this is a praised breakfast place! I also liked the fact they had different flavors of syrups, too. I've actually had pretty consistent experiences at the Stacks in Campbell as well. Wow, this is a tough one to write. You know how you have some places on the tip of your tongue when people ask and in your mental Rolodex when you want to decide where to go for something? (You know like San Tung and Bonchon for K-wings etc) Stacks was one of those breakfast places, (along with Neil's, Joanne's etc) that we immediately thought of when we thought of breakfast. But having Neil's closer to home, plus Neil's being super hard to beat, (price, combos, taste, service, the whole experience,) plus Breakfast competing with Dim Sum, (Dim Sum always wins,) it took us about 1 1-2 years to go back to Stacks. And disappointingly, what we found was not the same. First of all, the staff. Gone is the old, professional, friendly, waitstaff, all having gone on to better jobs, (they told us.) Replaced by new, unknowledgeable and uncomfortable newbies. (We had to explain the menu, to her! As well as repeat our choices slowwwly, three times. The repeat back was still wrong all three times.) Now on to the cooks. Different, inexperienced and sloppy/lazy ones too. A bagel with every breakfast. What they did, cracked us up for days! They burned one bagel black. And the other one was not toasted at all. What did those smart asses try? They split the burned bagel between two of us, giving each of us 1/2 burned and 1/2 untoasted. Wth? You gonna try and BS the masters? You lucky we didn't go all Bodak Yellow up in there! Then when bae asked for a simple substitution of one slice French Toast instead of the bagel, and was willing to pay extra for it, the "manager" replied "no we can't do that," in a real uncomfortable mash up of words and illogic. But wait a minute, why not? A simple slice of toast, but, no? Ahh Neil's where are you when we need you. (Any substitution is okay, for a small charge.) But the manager seemed afraid to think outside the box. Then the food came. What a big frikkin disappointment. The omelet was tiny and hard as a rock. Gone are the gigantic portions of well cooked, delicious food of old. Our daughter's crepe was flat tasting and lacked freshness. Also, hard and tiny. The potato orders were all wrong, and tasted bad, and the coffee, old and cold. The whole experience was crap. A waste of time and money. Sorry Stack's you no longer "Stack up." Me and my daughter went here and let me tell you about my experience. So my daughter go here often she goes here every morning before work I normally go to the one in Redwood City this was the first time that I've been to Stacks in Burlingame. The food was cool the waitress was nice and friendly and helpful but the one thing I did not like about it is when it was time to get the check! So I'm looking over the receipt and I noticed I was charged $2.50 for a side of sour cream that was not even on the menu as a priced product. I thought that was kind of odd so I asked for the manager and when the manager came out he start rambling on about a avocado charge and that's not even what my issue was about my issue was about the sour cream that I was charged for and it's not even on the menu as a priced product! He go on to say something about sour cream at the grocery store you got to pay for it so on and so forth and I thought that was rather rude and had nothing to do with the price of tea in China and the fact of the matter why I even called him out there to speak with us that was one issue that raised the red flag with this restaurant! I felt he started being racist rude he was very disrespectful so that's why I'm writing this review because for one I was charged for something that's not even on the menu and they just making up prices for stuff that's not even priced on the menu that's against the law you you can't do customers like that and expect them to be okay with it so I said I will put a bad review on Yelp in regards to this and I will never go back there again my daughter will never go back there again and I hope whoever sees this you guys pay attention to your menu if you do decide to go there but me honestly I would not go to this restaurant if I was you!!!!!! read more

Although there is a Stacks in San Francisco and I live about 10 minutes away, I still prefer to go to this location because I love the atmosphere and the staff. This is definitely my go-to spot for brunch with my boyfriend when we don't want to wait and need a brunch fix. We come here around 1-2pm so we never have to wait more than 5 minutes. If you come in at 11am on a Saturday or Sunday, you will have to wait up to 30 minutes but they are speedy workers. Food is awesome and hardy. The workers are the best! Service was horrible. Management should be retrained. I showed up Sunday afternoon with my fiancé. We didn't know what time their kitchen closed. I had never been to this place and I was not familiar with their menu or their hours. We were seated. Waiter came by and took our drink order and then asked if we were ready to order food. Waiter quickly brought back drinks then asked us if we were ready to order, I said I needed a few minutes to read thru the menu, he then told me their kitchen was about to close and he needed to get the orders in. I quickly ordered the most basic thing that popped in my mind - short stack of pancakes and 2 scrambled eggs. A different waitress brought out our food, I told her that I think I asked for a short stack of pancakes. She said "let me check with your waiter." Our waiter comes over to me and tells me that I told him I ordered the full stack, I said maybe I did and I let the issue go. Food was mediocre and a tad over priced. 2 takeaways for management and staff: 1. Management: if your kitchen is about to close either tell potential customer you are closed for business, or warn the customer before you seat them that they will need to be quick with their orders. 2. I've been coming to this stacks for awhile.... I wouldn't say they have the best breakfast I've ever eaten but worth trying. Maybe if you're taking out of towners out for breakfast or maybe doing brunch with friends its a cute place in the heart of Downtown Burlingame. The atmosmephere is nice and it is within walking distance to a bunch of stores Apple, Pottery Barn, Sephora, Gymboree etc. The downfall is that if you have a party of 4 or more expect a wait of atleast 20 minutes even if you have a reservation. I've eaten here many times and I know the food is ok. I'm always stuffed because they have really big portions. The menu has a good selection to choose from. The waffles with fresh fruit and a fresh fruit smoothie is always a good choice. But if you're not in the mood to wait a long time try Millbrae house of pancakes. Or come on a weekday =) read more
