Came by on a Monday around 2pm & place was empty which is very rare compared to the weekends from what I have seen driving by. I got lucky! Staff was very accommodating, outdoor seating with heaters, & food was excellent! $14 for a club sandwich (fresh ingredients), fries, & a coffee! This is a much better option rather than eating at McDonald's. read more

Hadn't been to Dana Point for a few years and was excited to go to Stacks again after a great experience in the past. They did not disappoint! Guava Toffee French Toast and three eggs over hard left me craving more...so I had it 3 days in a row! Mixed it up the next day with the Moco Loco, which was also great, then back to the GTFT the day before we left. read more

Had the blueberry pancakes and crab eggs Benedict, both very good. Some of the best pancakes I've ever had, light and fluffy and loved the free coffee refill. I'm sure this place gets packed on the weekends. Lots a restaurants are closed on Mondays when we went, but not Stacks. Smaller seating inside, with plenty of seating outside. Traffic on PCH makes outside a little noisy, but this is a local favorite, not too fancy, but the food was delicious. Highly recommended! read more

Stacks is a great fast casual dining experience to be shared with friends and family. Stacks is tucked away in a cute little shopping strip with the surrounding shops adding to the ambience. The food is relatively cheap and delicious all while maintaining a plentiful serving size. The bathroom was a single and clean. However this establishment doesn't deserve five starts due to my following grievances: there is very little seating considering the bustle during the morning I dined. The shop is right on the main road with traffic whizzing by which is a little bit distracting and unpleasant. They attempt to combat this by putting up a wall blocking the tables view of traffic but it is not so effective. Overall I would recommend a visit. read more

The best pancake ever!!! It's somewhat sweeter than regular pancake but omg it's very good! Long line as to be expected, small indoor space but lots of seating outside. I'm disappointed with the customer service though, there was this guy bringing the food who looks so miserable he doesn't smile or even greet you. Then the food all came different times like at least 5-7 minute intervals. The serving of corned beef hash is so small it's probably not even 5 tablespoonful. If I go back it's probably for the pancakes :) read more

Small place very little tables outside and some inside. Food was good, loved the waffles. Apparently not everything on their wall menu is what they have. I wish they had book menus to order from. I would come again i liked it. Free parking. read more

Super busy, so placed a to go order in which I was able to skip the entire line and pad, the front to grab my food and go. Took it to the beach and ate it on the sand. The food was still hot. The young man on the phone taking my order, did not seem very knowledgeable in the menu, but the quality of service and food was good. read more

Great breakfast place not too far from the Dana Point baby beach. This place can get very busy so plan to go early or be fine to wait. They do have a free parking lot located above the restaurant. Indoor seating is limited but lot of outdoor tables available. Lot of breakfast options here. Their French toast and crepes are delicious. Overall a great place to get good breakfast in the morning. read more

Service was fantastic. Arrived very early on a weekend to beat the crowd. A few items were marked as unavailable. Awesome Place!! Been here a few times before and every time the food is incredible. I personally get the Kalua pork eggs Benedict. The staff is friendly, and the food comes out quickly. I taken my family here multiple times before two, and every dish is a homerun. Im surprised they are only four stars, and not closer to five stars. If you haven't tried this place out yet, it is definitely worth trying. You will not be disappointed. read more

I went with a group of people, my food was alright. I ordered the 2 Eggs and a Protein Breakfast. I really liked how the bacon tasted. Personally my experience with the food I ordered was good. But my friends' foods on the other hand was terrible. Friend ordered the Avocado Omelet. So bad. The meat tasted like something meant for dogs. It said it was bacon? Tasted like beef jerky but so much worse. Don't order this. Friend ordered the Chicken Omelet. Found hair in it, they kindly offered to take it back and redo it. Then they came back with a new one, and guess what? There was ANOTHER hair in it. Friend ordered Chicken Katsu, had hair. PLEASE WEAR HAIRNETS, if that isn't working, might as well shave all the hair off. read more

Lightning fast and everything you want in a bfast/brunch. My best friend and I both ordered the Stacks Scramble with the Florentine and Mac'Nut Banana pancakes. Everything was delicious and we couldn't recommend it more. It took no more than 7 minutes for our food to come out and it was fresh and hot. The service was great and everyone was really helpful in getting us what we needed while trying to keep people outside because of COVID protocols. read more

Little joint on "The Row" near Lantern district in DP that locals love to frequent and everyone visits on Sunday morning. We came here for brunch at 11:30 on Monday July 5th. It was crowded, and there was a long line. It took us about 30 minutes to get to the register to order. After we ordered it took about 10 minutes to get our food. We found a table for the 4 of us right away. We received our food hot and delicious. The fried rice was flavored well and it was a good portion. The fruity pebbles french toast was all that and then some. Is it worth the wait? YES. It's a small restaurant, it's a long wait. All of the employees even though overwhelmed are each hard at work and doing their best to do it with a smile. This restaurant has an interesting process and you may worry you'll never get to order or get a seat but you will. You just gotta pack your patience when you come. read more

I sit here with downcast eyes. I really wanted to like this place. I had high hopes because my neighborhood page on FB raves about this place being the best and #1 Pancake House etc, also Yelp let me down. Easy parking out back in lower level. However the line is ridiculously long and you have to move every second in and out of line bc you have waitresses full of dishes on hands and you must make room so they could pass. Plus it's chaos bc after people pay they all need to come out and the kitchen door is right by the line and cashier so it's a mess. The restroom is not kept up, it smells awful and has that look and feel of a public gas station. On top of that they ONLY have ONE restroom and a football field stadium full of customers so yeah NO! The Macadamia Nut sauce is watered down making pancakes soggy. The only thing I was happy with was the Huevos Rancheros. The sauce was nice the flavor was good, but the beans were below average and I was not happy that the waitress was holding my plate tucked right under her bosom, reason is bc they move pretty fast and none stop so her perspiration-transfers onto her shirt and from her shirt onto my potatoes. That was gross and so yeah I did not eat my potatoes. I could if sent it back but honestly we were hungry so I just pushed them to the side. We will not be back. I'd rather pay $14.00 vs $9.00 for pancakes at HENDRICKS off Golden Lantern than to save money and go thru all of this chaos again. read more

Place looked good. We walked in 5 min before closing, but the person in front of us was talking about her hair cut with the woman at counter. By the time we got up to the counter they told us, "sorry we are closed...if you want to order it has to be to go." Rude! read more

Ordered breakfast to go. I should have checked the bag. Completely wrong order. Of course, I was long gone before I found out. The food I did get wasn't all that good. The chilaquiles were a luke warm "hot mess". The pork was actually terrible. The spicy chicken waffle was ok. The hot sauce wasn't good. The chicken was crispy and had good flavor. All in all, I really would have liked to have what I ordered, but, I doubt I will be back. The counter staff was great. read more

Very popular spot. Always busy with family and Teens. Great pancakes and omelets. Pretty Smoothly run, as you can't reserve a table. The staff does it's work to keep patrons moving without it feeling as though you're being rushed. You can't sit at a table until you've ordered or at least you shouldn't. (My opinion) loud and lively with chatter and traffic but worth it. read more

Excellent, well-run breakfast spot. You order and pay at the counter, find a table, then they bring you your food. The line to order can get long but, based on our observation, it moved quickly. I suppose it could be a problem if the place was really jammed and you got your food before you found an open table. I didn't see it happen but that would really be a drag. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. They repeatedly came by to see if we needed more coffee or anything else. The food was really good, too. I'm not a pancake guy but the pancakes here are very good. For what it's worth, they seem to do sweeter dishes very well here (chocolate chip pancakes, Belgian waffles, hot chocolate, etc.). A friend suggested breakfast at Stacks after a Bootcamp work out on Friday, June 16th. So we went. Loved the Hawaiian-style decor and music since it reminded me of where I grew up. The service with a smile was top notch and truly embodied the aloha spirit. I ordered the Portuguese sausage plate and oh my goodness, it didn't disappoint. The sausage was flavorful, eggs cooked to perfection, and the rice...finally a place that knows how to cook steamed rice, so ono! Their menu is pretty extensive, so there are plenty of options. Great spot. My dad and I very much enjoyed our breakfast here on a rainy Saturday morning. We both had the chicken katsu and bacon waffle, which was very tasty (and medium spicy). The service was great. Plenty of people coming to visit, and the staff was hardworking and friendly. I liked the vibe there. It's outdoor seating with nice tables and chairs. The good people of Dana Point and Orange County get busy enjoying family time over good food. And that's exactly the experience they delivered. I was curious about the breakfast here so I decided to give it a try. First the parking, there is only a tiny lot to the side of it. I got really lucky when I pulled in to someone leaving. I gave me a spot. The appearance of the restaurant is fast paced. One begins in line instead of being seated and given a menu. If you don't know what you want and cannot decide from the menu of specials on the wall in chalk, you need to snag a menu or look at one when you get to the counter. I ordered a cheese omelet that came with three pancakes as a side. I also asked for the hot chocolate with everything. The price was $8 for the order but $3 more for the chocolate. I sat myself after my order, as it appeared that was the way of it. My table was still dirty from the last customer. You can eat inside or out but the place is small (liked cramped small). The customer service was friendly, and polite. The good news is that they are fast. My order was out rapidly and tasted very fresh. I started with my omelet that tasted great but lacked variety as it was only a cheese omelet. The pancakes were hearty and heavy. They were quite filling and I probably could have just ordered them and it would have been enough. All the while I looked at my hot chocolate admiring its beauty as a cone of whip cream and sprinkles expecting it to cool. Then I noticed that the heat of the hot chocolate was melting the whip cream down the sides of the cup. It was not ruined just not as beautiful. It was hot for a long time. Honestly, it looked better than it tasted. I would not order the hot chocolate again. I would have ordered the pancakes again without regret. If I eat here again it will be for them or one of the speciality dishes like S'more french toast. Overall the food was better than Denny's and affordable, more so than some of the upscale breakfast places that are roomier and have much better atmosphere. I don't see myself eating here again because of the parking and how busy it was when I was there even though it was a weekday. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Nixon T.

Nixon Tanuwidjaja has spent his life pursuing his passion for uniquely delicious meals. Working full time in a restaurant while he put himself through college, Nixon realized how much he enjoyed the hospitality industry and began his pursuit to own his own restaurant concept. Directing operations for four Japanese restaurants in Los Angeles gave Nixon two life-changing experiences, an appreciation of the delicate nuances of Asian Cuisine and an introduction to Ovita who would soon become his wife and partner. The opportunity to move to Hawaii, allowed Nixon and Ovita to experience the Aloha of Hawaiian cooking that infuses Hawaiian and Asian influences into their favorite meal of the day - breakfast. So that leaves this. I know this is not common here, but I had to be honest with my experience. Other people got burgers and they were fine, so it's hard to pinpoint what exactly it was. I did have a side of Mayo. So maybe? It's now Monday night and my fever has dropped from 101.8 to 99.1. Overall it's hard to say I would ever come back considering the price to food... But they did have a nice view!

Kahani, the club lounge, and the Marketplace all delivered exactly what you expect from a hotel at this level: attentive, well-trained staff, seamless service, and a clear understanding of hospitality standards. That's why I've never focused on smaller issues before -- they didn't outweigh the overall quality of the stay. Unfortunately, Raya has now been the exception twice. The first time, back in January, the food quality wasn't on point-I ordered the blackened tuna tacos and they were completely inedible. I didn't complain or send them back -- I simply left it at that. Today was service from one particular server Taylor. I had just come down from the club lounge and remembered that I had a complimentary voucher given at check-in, which didn't specify what it covered on it. I first asked at the lobby bar and no one was able to provide a clear answer, so I went next door to Raya and asked again before ordering. The hostess told me I could choose anything and even recommended the skirt steak. She was kind and friendly. Taylor took my order, and I reasonably assumed there had been communication between staff. So I spent some time ordering and waiting and when my food arrived since I asked for a to go order, I grabbed the bag, tipped, and left. Then Taylor ran after me at the hotel entrance asking how I planned to pay -- in front of other guests. It was an extremely uncomfortable and bizarre situation. I didn't realize what has happened I was just handed the bill and I put my room number and name down. I was then told the voucher only covered guacamole, which directly contradicted what I had been told prior to ordering. As a result, I wasted approximately 40 minutes of my time, I was simply trying to head to the beach before departing, and instead found myself dealing with a situation that should have been handled internally and discreetly. When I handed the food back and said I did not want it, the response was "ok, I'll toss it," followed by no acknowledgment, no apology, and no effort to resolve the situation. At this point, this is no longer an isolated incident. For a restaurant positioned as fine dining, the lack of internal communication, consistency, and basic guest handling is surprising -- especially when every other outlet on the property demonstrates a significantly higher standard. Raya was the only part of the experience that felt misaligned with the rest of the hotel -- and unfortunately, it's the last impression I'm leaving with.

He personally acknowledged that some adjustments had been made BUT also recognized that the dish we received was not up to their standard. What really stood out to us was how he handled the situation. Rather than dismissing our concern, he offered a thoughtful resolution that completely turned the experience around and made us feel genuinely valued as customers. To me, THIS is what great hospitality looks like. Food may not always come out perfectly but when a restaurant listens, acknowledges a concern, and makes a genuine effort to find a resolution for the best possible customer experience, it makes you appreciate the place even more.
