I made my second trip to Stanley's yesterday. A couple of weeks ago I stopped by and bought a sausage (I forgot which one because they have so many) some pastrami a meatball and an Italian sandwich. Awesome flavor on each of these items. I have a tendency to judge places that offer a meatball sandwich. If it's good than I feel like the other products will be good as well. Stanley's did not disappoint. Now let's get to what I bought yesterday. Spicy meatloaf and beef jerky. Both were phenomenal. At home the meatloaf heated up nicely with a little bit of beef gravy. Spicy, but not over the top. Loved it and will buy it a again. Now for the beef jerky. My wife and I make beef jerky with our own recipe and have sold it to others. I have loved jerky for 50 years. Beef, elk or venison as well as several others meats. The beef jerky that Stanley's has is by far superior to anything you will buy in a store. It has the right amount of seasoning/spices with a perfect smoky taste. It is tender, not dry or brittle, and so flavorful. For my taste buds it is as good at it gets. I use to frequent the old McDowell location and was so saddened when it closed. We happened to stumble across this location today. Holy smokes, it did NOT disappoint!! Wonderful!! Amazing value, phenomenal quality, and surprising quantity. I left with 3 sandwiches and two orders of pierogies to share with friends and family. Everything we had was simply delicious!! I love this place. It's EASILY top 3 best sandwiches I've ever had. That bread... OMG! Fresh meat and veggies. Everything... soooooo good! I can't recommend Stanley's enough. It is a must try!! Fresh homemade sausages. The smoked Canadian bacon is the best I've ever had. Had a lunch plate today. The sausage was fantastic. Unfortunately the sauerkraut left a bit to be desired. As did the bread. But, they just opened. Lots of room to grow. Would like to see some homemade desserts. They promised it will be coming soon. All in all a good experience. read more

"Oh well", I didn't get the clam chowder I wanted because it's so good they sold out! But I "will not complain" especially since the owner called me and stated that they were sold out. You do not see that "kind of courtesy to often these days"! Anyway, my hot roast beef sub with swiss was "excellent" and the beef was seasoned to "perfection"! I used "grubhub" from my delivery and it was easy, prompt, and professional. I will "definitely" recommend this restaurant to friends and family! This is the best smoked meat deli place in the State specializing in sausages. Ask for cevapi, which is the best grilled mini sausage like meat that goes great with the bread bought at Stanley's. The owner always provides great customer service and love the little tray with samples so you know what you're buying. read more

I'm 100% Polish and always trying to find the kiebasa we had when we were growing up back in Pennsylvania. It was made by a family run business at the time. Anyway, over the years we have tried various homemade sausage companies but haven't been able to duplicate exactly the kiebasa from my childhood. We found out about Stanley's as they advertised for the Polish Festival in Phoenix, so we decided to check them out one day. They have 2 stores, one on 17th and Bell, and this one which is a little bit bigger. We purchased some smoked Polish sausage last Saturday for dinner on Sunday. The store is clean, well stocked, the man who helped us at the counter very pleasant and friendly. There are even samples of the various sausages there to try (who can resist samples?) There is a deli with sandwiches and a nice area to sit inside to enjoy the food. For our sausage needs, we'll definitely be back! read more

What a tasty little secret! We had a pirogie plate, an Italian sub and a couple different styles of hotdogs. All the food was delicious and fresh! Purchased some of their smoked meats. Nothing like the original Stanley's. The fresh polish sausage tasted sour. And I was burping the rest of the day. They don't allow any substitutions. So if you get the polish sausage plate you get 2 small pieces of smoked and 1 small piece of fresh... I hate smoked sausage. It also came with some weird mushy runny stuff that was totally gross. Same with the perogie plate... it comes with several types including potato, meat and sauerkraut. I only like the potato one. So if your picky I'm polish and maybe I had it too good growing up with my mom and grandmothers cooking homemade polish dishes. But this was truly terrible. And the "fresh" sausage tasted noting like Stanley's used to be when they were farther south. Nor like European cafe near 15th Ave which is now closed. (Stanley's may have taken it over and moved it a complex or two away from where European cafe used to be.). I truly don't know what we're going to do this year for the holidays as I won't be serving that sausage to my family. Looks like I'll have to get out the old family recipe and make some of our own. read more

OK, first we went to the Stanley's on 17th Ave. and Bell, but found out on arrival that you have to go to this one for deli. But, after speaking with the nice lady who runs the place (she told us deli would be coming soon there, by the way), we bought sausage and some other goodies from her. But then we trotted off to this location above for deli. This location is big with groceries from Poland to buy--plus, of course, the deli. After making some grocery purchases we ordered a polish sub and a Polish dinner to eat along with some specialty bottled drinks. And, speaking of those bottled drinks, I had the watermelon-apple one which was dee-licious! The Polish dinner comes from some special sweet sauerkraut with meat, 3 sour bread slices with butter, two different types of sausage--and if you can eat all that you walk out stuffed. How good were the meals? Let's just say we headed for the door telling them we would be back. Oh, and we bought a half pound of the sauerkraut dish that came with the dinner, and a pound of Mama's special soup which was borscht today. The food is just great here, the service is friendly and helpful if you have questions and the grocery is fun to look around while waiting for your meals to come. As I said before, we will be coming back here...for sure. read more

Improbably, I found myself craving cevapcici the other day - these are breakfast link sized kefta or koobideh from the Balkans, former Yugoslavia. And this is something you could easily get in Chicago but what about here? A few searches, a phone call, and a short ride up to PV later, I walked away with what I'm calling a Balkan Meal Kit: a box of ~40 beef cevapi, a tub of kajmak - a cream cheese like spread - ajvar, which is the roasted red pepper spread favored by my relatives in Croatia (long story), and four round loaves of lepinje, the bread for containing all this goodness. The best thing is I didn't have to go to three places to get the meat, the bread, the sides, it was all here. You fry or grill the cevapi, I chop a little onion, put out the condiments for people to add as they like, you have a DELISH meal for the fam. My northsider hack is, get some frozen naan, some kimchi, slap in the cevapi - you got yourself an Albany Park sandwich right there. That's Chicago on a plate. read more

Purchased frozen bratwurst from Bell location. Not sure if it was actually bratwurst, but if it was one of the worst bratwurst I've ever tasted. Store looks like it's going out of business with very small selection. Service pleasant but extremely slow. read more
