I am bummed that I forgot the name of the gal that was working but it was around 6:30pm this past Friday on 1/19/18. She was super sweet and she really knew how to make a chai with my extra favorite honey add in! I melted and what a place to just have a moment to sip something great! My favorite latte in the city. Smooth and silky espresso with high caffeine content and little to no acidic kick back. I always stop here when I'm in The Haight ! There is a clean Bathroom for customers and that is awesome on Haight Street Customer service is always on point, and I have yet to receive a burnt milk latte. I've lived 1.5 blocks away from this place for about a year and just tried it for the first time. Had the cold brew and the chorizo breakfast burrito. Cold brew was good, but I'm writing this review for the burrito. Because it was a coffee joint, I had assumed that the burrito would be pre-made and reheated. I was wrong. The dude whipped out a pan, scrambled some eggs with chorizo, wrapped it up with some homemade salsa, cheese and avo, and tossed that baby in the oven for a few minutes. The result was a very satisfying, sizable breakfast burrito, something that is not as easy to find in SF as I would like. I'll definitely be back again. read more

Here's a great spot to chill in the Haight that is not a tattoo parlor or some random tshirt store. This Wi-Fi cafe has all the elements for people watching, laptop surfing, and good conversations. There is a large wine bar sitting in the middle separating the vertical interior into two seating areas. They have a hipsterish following and the foot traffic is persistent most of the day. I tried the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3) and it was soft, moist, and dark chocolaty. One of the baristas was cleaning around my area and apologetically offered the cookie as a show of appreciation. The cookie was rich and good to share. The Coconut Donut ($3) was out of this world. Super moist, refined, cakey and organic. They get their donuts from Pepples. Since this visit my mouth waters every time I'm reminded of their cakey donuts. Soy Latte ($4.50). Unfortunately, the consistency of soy was too thin and not creamy enough. The espresso quality was muted and lacked complexity. It was okay but not the best others had claimed it to be. Service was direct, efficient, and amenities include Wi-Fi and plugs along the walls. 3.5 stars for the overall experience. It was a positive experience but there are also many great cafes to choose from in the City. I will only return the next time I'm the area. read more

You might even have tried a couple of them at Vinyl. The forever changing grape scene makes the wines more versatile and each time for each year, while you can trace all the consistent varietals, you will also find a couple additional elements that make the wines very unique. And while it's on Haight Street, finally, it's not divey, but more lounge feel. The bar serves coffee and pastries too but the heart of it is to walk further to the back to chill out at this wine bar, a great way to relax your feet from cruising down Golden Gate Park, or up and down from shopping, or going from or to a movie, or even simply to enjoy some conversations and leave the busy notes outside for a bit. Charming little coffee spot on Haight which was recommended by a local. She claimed Lemony Snicket was written here & that of course peaked my interest. It's a tiny shop with a dark cozy lounge area toward the front & diner style seating toward the back. Interesting mix. I loved their unique coffee drip system on display. So cool. Definitely got a hipster vibe. I went for the Guatemalan pour over, purely because I've never had it & liked the look of the glassware. So, it's basically a system that allows the barista to control the brewing process to preference. I felt excited watching them do it. Coffee was excellent. People were helpful enough. So, I'd go back. Maybe I'll run into Daniel Handler the next time. read more

My order was a "pourover" coffee with, get this, a Nutella pop tart. The barista heat it up & it was a perfect treat to end my afternoon. Not wanting to be inconsiderate and hold up a table at Pork Store Cafe down the street, my friend and I migrated here after lunch so we could just sit and chat. Your typically quaint hipster cafe, with some limited seating both up front and in the back, and tables make out of upcycled wooden barrels. I ended up ordering one of their pourovers, going with the Kilenso Mokonisa from Intelligentsia, which was surprisingly tastier than expected. Better than Philz? Nah, not really. But better than anything I've had from Blue Bottle, that's for sure - though, admittedly, I'm not a fan of the more sour, acidic coffees that many a person here seems to be, and that seems to be pretty much all Blue Bottle has these days. ***Accessibility Info*** Venue - Another fairly small space, but I'd say about half their seating is accessible, albeit possibly a bit cramped. Came here for a soy vanilla latte before some wandering. It was very forgettable. Tepid, didn't really taste of anything -- coffee. I drank I because I paid $6 but I can't say I really enjoyed it. Must have been an off day because others seem to like it. read more

Excellent coffee, muffins, good atmosphere but... The experience depends on whose behind the counter. One guy is super friendly, volume at a reasonable pitch. On other days the server is super unfriendly and keeps the jazz at ear splitting levels. When asked to turn it down she seems huffy and then keeps inching it back up again. Ugh! Having lived in Seattle for 5 years, this place felt like I was walking into a shop on Broadway in Capitol Hill. The coffee was a bit pricey for me, and the baked goods seemed cute but tasted a bit off. I enjoyed the overall experience, the coffee was on the medium roast side, and I am a fan of dark roast. This place is delicious, clean, and it is also open earlier than any other breakfast place in the area. GREAT for early birds, close to the park. It is a nice place to sit or get food to go for a breakfast picnic in the park. My partner exclaimed several times how delicious his late was, and my chai tea had excellent flavor. If you're looking for a place to stop and have a quick cuppa, Stanza would bit it. The half wine barrel tables are kitchy. The location is great, right next to Loved to Death, and the selection of drinks is pretty fabulous. EXCEPT.. the coffee has been over roasted, it tastes burnt. Very different look than their 16th street store. Coffee is just as good and the pastries are even better. Pretty loud and they have music playing in the background. Not a whole lot of room for seating indoors. But I didn't get the chance to see if they had a patio. The coffee bar is right in the middle of the room and creates a place to sit. Ok Stanza, I've loved your espresso brews and been loyal for a long time. Lately though, you're slipping just a bit. The atmosphere is still great, but there's a constant revolving door of new baristas. It seems like someone is always training and the new crew just hasn't perfected the craft. Drinks are now scalding hot and inconsistent. Don't get me wrong, Stanza on Haight is still one of the better coffee shops in the city, but that extra special touch of magic is gone. read more

Weak americano. Asked why coffee was so weak and was told I could add a shot and most people order a smaller size. So for less money I would have had stronger coffee. Instead I got coffee that was diluted and practically undrinkable. Americanos are supposed to stronger than regular coffee regardless of what size you order. read more

We've been regulars for probably 3 years, and even though two new coffee shops opened a few blocks closer to home we keep coming. Stanza brews Counter Culture and has the best pour-over, as well as the best (and best-priced) batch brew coffee in the area, hands down. These kids know their coffee and make it right. (The owner is surly and kinda rude, but he owns a bunch of shops around and is fortunately rarely here.) read more

Cute, small and you can tell a lot of usuals come here. It was pretty empty when I came by, it was on my walk from the hotel. Service was quick and courteous. You can tell it's a good spot for studying or just lounging. The chairs aren't as comfortable as a coffee house normally are but for a short time it'll work. read more

When a previously owned wine bar and chocolate shop can be taken over by new owners who introduce a brand new craft coffee -- in addition to new wine and chocolate -- in the Haight, and they're proving to be successful with it from the start, that's when we might need to realize that great coffee is worth the extra oomph: of time and effort from shop owners, and time and a wee bit more from our wallet. These guys have brought in Augie's from Redlands, CA (Southern California, Inland Empire hamlet known for cobblestone streets, a college, Cuco's, Granlund's candy and me yelling, "I love Redlands!" in the streets). And now... they're known for Augie's, who have taken a leap to enter the SF coffee boom. Drip pour overs, pulling shots on a hot rod La Marzocco and a Kyoto cold brew. That Kyoto cold brew has Blue Bottle beat as their roast is a bit more delicate which brings out more cherry tartness on the back of the coffee. And it's a Markris wine bar, which is going to keep me around -- it's just like what I really would love to see in my house one day; instead, it's all just three blocks away. read more

They make the fancy shapes with the cream in the top of the coffee, the little things. For the price it's a good deal on Haight, and I enjoy somewhere close by I can start my day. The coffee is pretty good and the big bar is cool, but they definitely don't have it dialed as well as some of the good coffee shops in the city. Yes, they are in the Haight so the standards are probably lower. Stanza is neither roasting their own beans nor providing much information on who does. They have a slow drip system (slow drip to old plastic bucket, that is) for iced coffee. Unfortunately my cup had so much ice packed in it I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get the lid on. In fact, there was such a small amount of coffee I chose to leave the lid off and sip it. Stanza runs a mediocre operating that really annoyed me. I won't be back, and I won't be recommending it. read more
