This used to be my first choice for all office supplies and printing needs, but not any more. Purchased a shredder online on April 29 and did a curbside pickup. Today, 16 days later, it stopped working. The packing slip said if I wasn't 100% happy, Staples would refund. Called the store and they said there was a 14 day return limit and there is nothing they can or will do. I am out over $100.00. So much for customer satisfaction. read more

We came here looking for a basic ergo-office chair. We were back in the chair section and another customer was there as well. After trying to make eye contact with 1-2 employees who walked by we went up to ask for help. They paged someone, 15 minutes later no one showed up. Then an employee did walk back, chatting with one of his friends, and was showing him some features on a desk. The employee, not even looking at us, then walked away. We went up to ask for help again and they sent someone back to help us. However when we got to the register, the employee who had finally helped us walked away, not going back to hep the customer who was actually there before us. It ended up taking us 10 minutes to pick out a chair and over 30 to get someone to help us get the huge box to the front and pay. Very very poor support. read more

Never thought I'd be reviewing an office supply store, but had to mention the great customer service I received. I had been looking for an all-in-one printer for several months to replace my defective one. I browsed many stores and could never settle on which printer would be the best buy. My boyfriend brought me to this store and we looked at many of the products on display. Having a hard time figuring out which one would give us the best options for our needs & price. A sales associate approached us who was very friendly & helpful. After going over all the features available, we finally decided on an HP printer that did it all. This is a pricey top of the line printer that was on sale for $100.00 off the original price. And even better, we could bring our old machine in for recycling and get $50.00 towards the purchase! To say the least, I'm very much into recycling programs. And to get some cash from it made my day! We told the salesperson that we would return the next day to complete the transaction. The next day we arrived with old printer in tow. Another sales associate greeted us and continued the great customer service by helping us with the selections of the printer cartridges needed and then giving us credit rewards from all the old ink cartridges that were from the old printer. (You need the Staples Rewards card for this which I had previously applied & downloaded on line). We also decided to get the protection plan since our old Dell printer turned out to be a very disappointing experience. I think it was set to stop working after a year and then you're screwed! Anyway, back to Staples. I was very happy with my purchase and felt comfortable taking the recommendations of the staff members. I am now a loyal customer! read more

If I could avoid any stars at all, it would be my rating. It's not just the stores, but the entire organization, that promotes poor business practices. Recently (not Black Friday or Cyber Monday), I placed an order using my rewards points through Staples. I even received an order confirmation. However, a few days later, I received another email indicating that they canceled my order due to insufficient stock. They "protect" themselves with a disclaimer stating, "The receipt of an email order confirmation is simply a recognition that we have received your requested order, and does not constitute an offer to sell. We reserve the right to limit the quantity of any item sold, or prohibit a sale altogether, including but not limited to prohibiting sales to resellers." You can be assured that if we had insufficient funds, we would not be able to cancel the order! read more

I am generally a big fan of Staples, but not this location. I walked in shortly after 9am looking to print 2 copies of two one page files off of my jump drive. I went up to the counter to be told it could be ready by noon. I get that they had other jobs already in, but I will never wait three hours for four pages to be printed out. I am a need it now type of person. Some may see that as unfair, but that is who I am. Thankfully for me there was a Fed Ex Office down the road where I could do it myself quickly. read more

I went in yesterday to print 14 invitations . I was told there were too many orders ahead of mine . So they couldn't print them same day . When I went there was only one customer in the entire store , but okay I said no problem . ( despite the fact I live way across town ). The associate told me they would call me once they were ready next morning . Here I am late evening and no call. So I called the store and said they have been ready , and someone should have called me . But nope I had to call and hold on the phone for 15 minutes . TAKE CAUTION!! I bought a new Nexus notebook which turned out to be used. My wife opened this gift on Christmas morning only to find the notebook without some kind of protective wrap, covered with smudges and someone (prior owner) logged onto Facebook. When I returned it to Elk Grove Staples, no one bothered to ask why I was returning it. They only wanted to know if the box had been opened. I explained my concerns and to my surprise, the person who asked just turned away...no apologies...no concerns...no "let me get you another notebook"....no customer service. If this is an indication of Staples' Customer Service philosophy, I say no thank you. I can take my business elsewhere. Makes you wonder what their process is when someone returns a product. Do NOT take your iPhones here for repair. I brought in my 6plus in for a cracked screen. Turn around time was great, but the fingerprint unlock feature no longer works AND my screen continuously flickers now. My digital display went out shortly thereafter -- my screen freezes halfway and then goes black. I'll be paying for someone to repair that now. read more

I used to come here often and use the copy center. I won't anymore. You are always understaffed. The girl working was not friendly or helpful at all. She is also the only one working in a busy department. The line was long. The machine I needed was out of service so everyone was waiting to use the only working machine out of many. Went over to my local staple store on sunrise blvd in citrus heights, I shop there on a semi regular basis, this visit was to send a fax. Went over to the copy counter asked and was helped by a young man who was courteous and informative. Sending a fax is a pretty easy process, this time it was a tad slower because I had 21 pages. Medical info that I was sending to my company nurse. My BIG surprise and dismay came at the check out after the fax was done. A different man was on register and I about fell down when he gave me my total.... $ 48.90 for a 21 page fax, I asked him a couple of times if he was sure, I hadn't picked up anything else, he said sorry but yes it was 48.90. Now nowhere on the machine or in the area does it have a sign about the price, but a week earlier I was in Fedex and it was and 8 pages and cost me $3.89. So I was expecting to maybe be 20.00 dollars or so, a dollar a page is high but....2.90 per page what a joke. Needless to say I was a bit up set as I took out my debit card because I didn't have enough cash in my wallet. 3 months ago I had to fax several docs for my disability leave. At the time I just had my surgery on my leg & very dependent on both crutches. Due to the need to fax these documents I ventured to Staples not knowing how I will be able to accomplish the task. The lady at the faxing area was very helpful by faxing my documents willingly without having to be asked. I thought it deserves to be mentioned as it was an awesome customer experienced. I'm not a regular at most office supplies stores however the last time I went to this Staples to have some documents printed (using a USB) the customer service was sub-par. There was a woman standing in front of me at the desk waiting to pick something up at the printing area and while there were 2 employees behind the desk, they did not acknowledge either one of us for roughly 5 minutes- not to tell us they would be right with us or anything! I had asked her if they had acknowledged her yet or if they were working on her order and maybe that was the reason for the wait but she said no, they had not greeted her. The woman was patiently waiting but I was in a bit of a rush so I spoke up and asked if we could have someone to help us. They took about another 3 minutes to come help us, the lady in front of me picked up her items and then I was told that to print from a USB there was a self serve station around the corner... what a waste of time! Had they asked us from the very beginning what they could help us with I could have been in and out within 3 minutes! I understand that they had maybe been busy working on other orders but if there are customers physically in the store waiting for help, that should be the employees priority. read more

They delete all of the transaction records after 2 years. If you bought an extended warranty you are out of luck if you don't have the original receipt. Even though there was a wait the employee was very attentive and polite and even so I was able to get my poster printed the day of and I done in less than 30 minuets. Today I ordered an online print job. I was thrilled to see, via an email, that the job was completed early. I entered the store for pick-up, and asked Kaylia where I could pick up my order as there was no one at the copy/print center. She began looking around but couldn't find the order and said I wasn't on the list of orders. I explained that I'd received an email stating my order was complete. A few minutes later another associate who apparently worked the print center came in and looked at the orders and said mine wasn't listed. I showed her my email, and she said that was not the email address for their store. I logged into my account via my phone and showed them that my order was from their location and stated complete. At this point they finally actually pulled out the box of completed orders waiting for pick up, and what do you know, mine was there, ready to go. They could have saved me 15 minutes if instead of arguing that I was in the wrong store, they actually just looked in their completed orders. At this point I politely mentioned that it would have been nice if they'd done this instead of insisting over and over that I was wrong or in the wrong place, at which point Kaylia gave me some serious head bopping attitude. She seemed to completely forget that I am a customer. No one apologized for wasting a bunch of my time. Worst customer service ever. read more

I always say I'm never going to Staples due their customer service and putting people first . I purchased a docking station a month ago and went to return today and was informed I could not return it due to it was electronics and there was 15 day return policy . I asked manager Reina could I get story credit ? She stated rudely "NO" and I can't help you sorry! So, I ask for the customer telephone number and her regional manager name. Reina gave me his first name, but could not spell his last name . I don't think she gave me the correct name. I called the customer service line and spoke to a nice person Brittney. I explained my problem and she wanted to help and delivered excellent customer service , people first. Brittany asked me to go back into the store, so she could speak to the manager, to see if I could get a one time store credit for the full price on the receipt. I went back into the store and located the manager Reina for her to speak to customer service. Again with the attitude, I hear Reina say she will give me a store credit , but she will do it without receipt and I get store credit for the lowest price which came out to be $63.99 vs $130.00 with receipt in hand. I refused to accept . The poor customer service doesn't not surprise me anymore. I have gone into the store to have something printed, the employee told me it would take hours, but she sitting behind the counter looking at her cell phone. I have walked down the aisle looking for supplies and the sales person did ask me if I needed assistance, but he never looked up from his cell phone while texting. I see why people do business in Amazon . This store will be out of business in the next 2 years. read more

Purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus last week and was told at the store that they no longer include a disk but have a code inside the box to activate. When we got home we had received a better online offer from Kaspersky which we decided to go with. Went to return the box to the store and found out if had been opened by someone else and was empty. BAD on us for not checking at the store for the code. We know we didn't open it so it probably was returned by another customer and wasn't checked when they returned it. Just a heads up to anyone purchasing software........check the box before taking it home. Staples would not give us our money back nor can we get the code we paid for. First let start by saying I have to give this place a star because it's not possible to rank them at negative stars. This place has the most unproductive, dishonest, lack of knowledge, and piss poor management people working there I have ever seen or experienced in my life. My day started with a simple trip to get my son a poster board. Walking in the store I seen the sign about how they fix cracked screens on phones and tablets now. I decided to ask a sales tech ( and I use the term tech loosely) about it, they tell me it's going to take 45 mins and cost me 100 bucks. I agree to the work, they check my phone for functionality and confirm everything works right. ( YES, other than a cracked screen, everything works great ). So I leave it with them and come back an hour later figuring they had plenty of time. OHHH NOOO. They just started working on my phone. I hold in my anger and ask how much longer, then I was told 20 mins. 20 mins later I was approached by the so called tech telling me they rang me up for the wrong screen and it was going to cost me an extra 12 bucks. I again hold in my anger and pay the difference. I kindly ask how much longer, and the tech assured me it would only be 20 mins. After another 20 mins I realize this incompetent ass hat must not know how to tell time, so I kindly ask again and I was told 15 more mins. The tech puts everything together makes a test call to insure things work and it does, but then realizes he missed some screws. He then takes another 30 mins to take it apart and put it back to together. He brings me the phone and powers it on, only problem is, the phone is DEAD. He tells me he will check it out and of course it will only take 15 mins. 45 mins later he is calling over one of his higher incompetent don't know nothing managers there to see what he did wrong and come up with an excuse to give me as to why they killed my phone. I get the whole song and dance about how they understand my frustration and what they will do is send it out for repair which will take 3 days plus shipping before they can determine what they did wrong. OHHH now I'm PISSED. I demand they live up to their motto in the Etech lounge where they claim they will fix my stuff and keep it running guaranteed. The lousy manager goes into the whole I understand mode but does zero to rectify my problem in a timely manner. Most of us have lives, lives that no matter how much we try to disconnect from are still connected to our devices. My sons pictures for his project happen to be on my phone, my alarm system for my house is tied into my phone, my banking is tied into my phone, etc. and this bitch has the nerves to tell me their is nothing they can do except send it out for repair. I tell her plainly to pay me out for the phone since they damaged it, she tells me they can't do that and that its above her authority to do such a thing. So I tell her to call someone who has authority. She babbles on for 20 mins before even attempting to make a call. She returns by saying no one answers from corporate. BULLSHIT!!!!!!!! I told her not to BS me because if the store was on fire someone much more important than her would be answering the DAMN phone.!!!! What bunch of crap. So I tell them to give me back my phone. They have the FUCKEN NERVE AND AUDACITY to ask me if I wanted a refund..... UHHHH NO SHIT dingle berry!!!! So I waited for yet another hour after that just so they can put the old cracked screen back on it. The fuck head tech gives it to me and says "it still doesn't work", gives me my refund in cash, and waits for me to leave. I look at him as if he's stupid, so I ask him "that's it, you just going to give me my money back along with my phone in which you fucken broke beyond repair and I somehow am supposed to call this fair???" So I tell him plainly, you need to compensate me for wasting 4 hours of my life and killing my phone. So he calls over the same manager, I then grab my phone, the manger proceeds to give me the same BS and magically my phone turns back on. At this point I'm just glad I can at least have a phone that turns on. I refuse to put it back in their hands, so I kindly apologize for WASTING their time and leave. What a FUCKING nightmare. I walked out 4 hours later, with a phone that is now even more cracked than before and a migraine that rivals this years presidential campaigns. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER trust your electronic belongings to staples. Not only do they lack knowledge of the products, they lack people skills, and most importantly, if they screw up your stuff, they have no way to make you whole in an acceptable time frame. I've been to this store many times and got good service, but the last 2 times I was there I got the same girl in the copy center. Her name is Diana...She is hesitant to help, SARCASTIC AND RUDE. I was there when no one was around and she began waiting on me. She had programmed her copier to do a multiple copies page for me, but that meant I would have to change the structure of my originals, so I asked if she could do the full page prints first and then the multiples. She was obviously upset by my request and said that she had already programmed the copier. She had meanwhile started to help a gentleman who arrived after me. She told me that I'd have to wait now until she had finished with his order, which took quite a while. I should have gotten a manager at this point, but didn't want to make a scene in the store. I don't understand why I had to wait since I was there first...I did notice that he was spending a lot more than I was...maybe I wasn't worth her while. The gentleman even asked her if she could bring his work up on the computer screen so he could review it. She said that would be no problem even though she had already shut the project down, but that she would pull it back up for him and had him go behind the desk to check it. I guess pulling his order up was easier than reprogramming the copier to make singles as opposed to multiples...I think not!! This young lady desperately needs to be TRAINED IN CUSTOMER SERVICE, or perhaps she should give her position up to someone out there who needs a job and would like to give your customers good, courteous service. I'm paying for a service and don't feel that my treatment by this employee was justified or fair. Like I said, I've had good service from other employees at this store so I'd like to continue doing business there, but I will definitely call before visiting the copy center again, to be sure one of the other helpful employees is working when I need to. To whom this may concern: This is the second year in a row that I've purchased next day ready Christmas/Holiday cards and when I pick them up, they are not ready. Last year it was the printer didn't work and they didn't have a part. Thought how could something happen to me a year later, well what do you know. I'm here at the store to pick up my next day photo cards from my order that was placed on 12/3/16 and they are no where to be found. The lady working the department stated that she can't get her computer working to look or restart my order and she's looked everywhere twice and couldn't find them. It's been a waste of my time, I to keep driving 30 minutes to attempt to pick up my cards each time but I'm dragging my kids in and out of the car. This has been so inconvenient and the worse part is that nothing has been down to compensate the poor customer service for 2 years in a row. Not even an I'm sorry. I wrote a complaint /review last year and never heard back from anyone. I'd be surprised to hear back this time. The lady while taking the order said it will be ready the next day. 2 days later, someone calls me from their copy department to tell me that there will be an additional $30 design fee. Seriously guys. What for??? she puts me on hold. I was at work so had to hang up. Later called them to. I was on hold for 25 mins but no one could give me an answer. Spoke to 3 different people and they all said I will transfer you to the copy department... SERIOUSLY GUYS!!! your copy department was left unattended for almost 30 mins. These guys suck here, they are not even of proper assistance even in stores. I do not recommend the Elk Grove location to no one. read more

I have lived in the Elk Grove area since 2001 and have shopped at this same location since. About 6 years ago, I went in to buy a printer. The sales rep said, "if you buy this replacement/repair policy you can return it before two years is up and upgrade to a new one. The total cost you paid for the printer is credited toward your new one. If there is money left over it can be used as a store credit for anything in the store." So, I bought the policy. Then before two years was up, I returned it for full credit and upgraded my printer. Bought another policy for 2 years. Toward the end of those 2 years I did it again. Brought in my old printer and bought another with a 2 year policy. So, this year when I went in to do the same...the manager (the same who helped us in the past) said they don't do and never have. I said, yes you did and you were manager at the time. My daughter was with me everytime and she recognized him to and said it was him. He said, I can't help you. If we did it before, we shouldn't have. He just kept walking away as he was saying, no we don't do it. You will have to call the number on the policy. I called the policy number and they tell me that unless it is broken they can't help me. That if it was not fixable they would send a comparable replacement printer. After some discussion, the guy finally agree with my comment that the printer they replace is not necessary the same name printer...I had been buying HP printers each time. That it could be any printer with the same features and not necessary utiliziing the same toner. He told me if Staples had been providing a replacement printer it was between me and the store. It had nothing to do with the policy I bought. So at this point in time, I have no respect for Staples or the policy they put there name on. In addition, I feel the manager just brushed us off completely and I felt insulted by his behavior. I also felt that Staples did not honor their own commitment. My policy was bought in Jan -09. if the policy had changed since then, I should have been grandfathered in since I bought it before the supposed change. I am not stupid, but someone insisting I didn't do something I know I have done, is insulting. I don't know if I will ever shop there again. read more

If I could give this store zero stars I would. I consistently receive poor customer service at this location and will no longer be shopping at this store. I had to wait over 10 minutes for an employee to even ask if I needed help. He told me knew nothing about printers and would have someone else come over. 10 more minutes went by and still no help. I made the decision on my own and went to purchase. The girl that was checking me out, could not have been older than 25, was "one of the managers" working so I told her about he lack of service. She did not apologize simply said that one of her IT guys was out for a couple of hours. Perhaps if all of their employees were not always out in front of the store smoking they could be inside helping customers. Do not shop at this store! Save yourself the time and hassle and shop online from the convenience of your own home where electronic alarms are not sounding off for 15 minutes while someone tries to disable them. read more
