This place is kind of a hidden gem and one of my friend's favorite. We came here to celebrate a birthday and I really like the BBQ selection. The galbi and prime rib steak were my favorite and very well marinated. The grill tray cooks everything up so fast. Great pricing for AYCE. Service is also very quick. Please come and create your own adventure.

Star BBQ is so close to where I grew up and I can't believe I've never been here. We came here late at night around ~11pm and there was a wait for about 15 minutes. Once we were seated, our server immediately took our orders. It's spacious inside and didn't feel cramped even though it was fully booked and busy. The meat portions here are HUGE so definitely don't over-order! We got the more expensive menu because I love beef tongue. It's so hard to find cheap kbbq spots that have beef tongue so this was great! The other meat cuts were also delicious, and my favs were the beef tongue and boneless short rib. They had some sides but I wish there was a bit more variety because I quickly got tired of the meats. For dessert they had a froyo bar but it looked like it hadn't been cleaned all day and was a huge mess so I didn't really feel like getting that many things. An okay addition to the end of our meal but it would be just fine without it too!

Great value Korean BBQ spot in Garden Grove. The AYCE dinner is $32 and you get a lot for the price. It's very family friendly -- kids 5-8 are half price and kids under 4 eat free. They also offer 10% off if you pay cash, and that includes free drinks. At the end of the meal they even give free ice cream, which the kids loved. The atmosphere is lively and the staff are friendly and attentive. Overall a solid and affordable AYCE BBQ option in Garden Grove, especially for families.

Ambience is pretty typical of a KBBQ restaurant but the service was great! Really accommodating and helpful for our large party :) Meat was pretty good, you pay for what you get!

IT DOES THE JOB. Okay, it's not the highest quality nor the cleanest KBBQ, but, again, it does the job and won't burn a hole into your wallet. For the lowest level dinner on a weekend, it was $27.99 with some more premium items being only 1 per person. You can add yourself to their Yelp waitlist and the wait wasn't so bad when we were there. About 20 or so minutes? At least enough time to grab a matcha from Airoma Cafe (when the cafe had no line). The parking lot can get fisted, so potentially keep that in mind. The women's restroom when I went was clean enough. I think the only con aside from the cheapness and quality factor, is that you can't adjust the fan for the stoves. Even at maximum strength, it was still blowing smoke into our friend's eyes the entire night. Pain! I think the most amusing thing of ordering the meat here is that it comes out huge semi-cold blocks. No problem since you can cook it, but I have never seen that at any other KBBQ before. Usually it's laid out on a tray or at least it's flattened, here its like they know that they're just feeding the horde. Despite this, the meat was fine, cooked normally and tasted all right. Can never go wrong with the top blade, brisket, and thinly sliced pork belly. The grill is angled so that grease and oil drop down into the vat. We also go their tofu soup and corn cheese which was decent. The steamed egg was the flattest and saddest one that I've ever seen, lots of air bubbles in it and the Korean noodle soup wasn't cooked all the way as the noodles were still blocked and stuck together. If I had to, I'd skip these 2 dishes. We also kept ordering their salad and sliced onions and garlic to enhance the flavor of food, not bad. There's free frozen yogurt at the end (turn off your brain if it doesn't look the cleanest), but the only flavor available was pineapple, no swirl, but that's alright. There were toppings too. Overall not bad for what it was.

Haven't been here for a while but place is still hitting the spot. Ambiance: nearly almost similar to any Korean bbq place that you would go to. K-pop music placing , free ice cream. Food: everything does take simulator other than there bulgogi meat it's less flavorful here but otherwise good. Service: staff is very attentive when it comes to it busy.

Don't come here found a roach or some bug in my food specifically in the Korean noodle soup manager couldn't even show their face to apologize instead had a waitress tell us they won't charge us absolutely unacceptable. Do not let this review go unnoticed.

    1. The options of the AYCE are good, and I really like the garlic pork belly! They also have complimentary ice cream! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! The interior has high ceilings! 3. There are only indoor seatings! They have a good number of tables and booths available! 4. The staff was friendly and attentive! They do ask clean the grill often! 5. Parking is easy! Spots are single-lined and not compact! Note: 10% discount if you pay with cash Photo: AYCE Meat

My girlfriend and I came in for the FIFA world cup watch party and man does this place know how to throw an event! The vibes were on fire, the food was amazing, the service was impeccable. Absolutely would come here for any watch party.

Not the same kbbq I remember. We ordered the beef belly plate and it arrived looking like mostly fat. After cooking that plate it turned out to be 100% fat and no meat - I gave the whole plate back to the server who agreed and took it back. Meat quality is not good. There are better options for affordable kbbq than Star BBQ.

After our party of six chatted over cocktails and preyed on pupus, we moved to a "secret" room tucked in the back of Stowaway and walked into a Belly Of The Beast. The founders and co-owners of Stowaway, Leonard Chan and Dominic Iapello, created this extension to the tiki bar with a wildly interesting Pinocchio theme and the famed encounter with Monstro the whale all the while serving the same offerings in Stowaway but with also an exclusive limited menu just for this adventure. With its proximity to Disneyland and its Enchanted Tiki Room, with the very niche underground-like society of tiki culture they found a consistent customer base and the thrill of island escapism through colorful cocktails, pleasurable pupus, tropical trimmings, and nostalgic know-how. How would my belly handle the beastly drinks concocted here!? PURCHASE(S) Gepetto's Last Words ($16.00): Intrigued by the cocktail's name, this elixir was crafted with Fid Street Gin, tangerine, creme de violette, lemon, and cucumber, it was a citrusy refreshing sweet drink that was decorated with bright yellow petals. It was nice, but for whatever reason it just didn't quite hit the spot. [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($9.00): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the catsup wasn't needed but used. SERVICE While in Stowaway, we informed our male server to let us know when we were allowed to enter the belly. Once inside and situated, we had the place and bartender to ourselves. After we all perused the menu, we placed our orders, and everything arrived within ten minutes. The rest of the time was spent chatting, picture taking, and our bartender checked in on us also giving a Dole Whip taster. All was casual, chill, and somewhat on island time - aloha and mahalo! PARKING (FREE): They shared a medium-sized private lot with several other businesses who were closed at this time with plenty of spots - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE "Hidden" inside Stowaway which was located within a strip mall, the entire theme was based on the Pinocchio story, the interlude in time spent inside Monstro, and as we entered it felt like the beginning of the Disneyland "Storybook" ride as you road a canal boat into the mouth and sharp teet of a whale. There were several marionettes (appropriate and non-appropriate) that hung from the ceiling and belly walls, along with other Disneyesque memorabilia, a few sitting booths, and a tiny bar at the end of the roo. No natural lighting whatsoever while an assortment of extremely low-lit electric lights and table candles glowed. There were no TVs while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Although I was actually dressed appropriately for the occasion in an aloha shirt, linen pants, and flip-flops, this place was totally casual, so a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops would suffice. OVERALL Belly Of The Beast was an adventurous fun evening with friends, it left me feeling childlike with the need to watch "Pinocchio", and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their awesome-soundling elixirs. I generally loved all-things Disneyana, and this new wrinkle, albeit probably not approved by the mouse ears brass, caught my fancy. My one drink was tasty but just didn't hit the right spot, the onion rings were very good, the prices were a tad elevated, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service was friendly and professional. They had an extremely limited menu, and there was some doubt whether or not ordering from the Stowaway menu was an option. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Also, the seaweed salad was an interesting addition. We were not fans of this. 2/5 FRENCH FRIES ($8.40) - they have different seasonings and we chose the Cajun one. We liked that they were skinny fries and they were addicting. I especially liked the spicy aioli dipping sauce. 4.5/5 GARLIC NOODLES SHRIMP ($23.10) - we thought it could've been saltier and used more garlic. The shrimp add-on was $12.60 which was not really worth for 5 pieces of shrimp. They were big pieces of shrimp though although not the easiest to peel. 2.5/5 ANGUS BEEF RIBEYE ($50) - this was cooked well and had good flavor. It came with mushrooms, asparagus, and a dipping sauce that we didn't care for. We would've liked some flaky sea salt on top to add more savoriness. 4/5 For drinks, the aum fashioned ($16) was a standard old fashioned and the heart shaker ($13) was pretty good. They have happy hour 3-7pm Monday to Thursday but unfortunately not on Fridays or the weekend. It's a little alarming that my favorite dish was the fries.
