So, wifey has a Mercedes and its not under warranty....time to find somewhere OTHER than the dealership. Thanks to some wonderful Yelpers out there, we headed to Star Tech to get the front brakes done. Kind of a weird location since you go through the Home Depot parking lot to get there, but it's not hard to find at all. Walking in, the waiting room is clean and drop off was easy. They called a few hours later and told us what it needed and their estimate....very very reasonable considering what they were doing. They had it done when they promised and walked through the repair and what it might need going forward. Sandor even took the time and effort to explain that some of the warning lights were on due to a recall and that we should contact the dealership and have them fix it for free. Impressive! This family takes pride in their business and, as others have said, it really shows. You feel good about using places like this! The shop itself was so clean that you could eat off the floor. literally the best place to go if you own a mercedes and just want the facts. if you own a mercedes then you understand (or put up with) the price of parts for a mercedes benz vehicle so that's a given. with that being said when i want my 10 year old mercedes serviced i just want the price and no gimmicks, startech offers that this with a simple phone call, they are helpful and genuine and don't have a dealership attached to the building so nobody's trying to sell you the newest car or any shady service practices, they're quick and straight to the point. will be taking my mercedes c300 here for as long as i own it and if i'm ever in a different mercedes, startech will be where i take it. thank you Lee for being super informative, quick, and helpful over the phone. read more

I had a complicated (like open heart surgery) and fairly expensive exhaust system repair needed for my ML 350 Blue Tech diesel. I checked with four capable shops and found that Sandor's "matter of fact" way of explaining the problems and solutions, were extremely reassuring. Despite the challenges of this particular repair, he not only had a unique understanding of what was required but also had two mechanics that had performed the same repair in the past. I would not say the repair was routine by any measure. However, Sandor and his team gave me the absolute confidence that I had made the correct choice with Star Tech Mercedes. In addition, the repair estimate was very reasonable. Prior to starting the work they performed a complete diagnostic of the car to verify the suggested repair was, in fact, needed. They were also able to suggest some service items that had been overlooked in the past. The work was completed for the quoted price(with no surprises!) and in a timely manner. The vehicle is now running as smoothly and efficiently as ever. Although I live in the mountains, I will continue to utilize Star Tech Mercedes for my future service needs. Experienced, courteous, honest and fast. These folks took great care of Shinyribs. We had a mysterious radiator leak that the owner, Sandor had had experience with before. I had a great experience working with Sandor to diagnose a new-to-me 2005 E320 CDI diesel. I came in with an oil cooler leak, but asked them to also give it a once over. They were able to identify several other issues, such as shot transmission and drive shaft mounts, and fix them proficiently and quickly. Throughout the process, Sandor proved himself to be a diligent professional. He kept me informed as to the status of the repairs, and was able to demonstrate his knowledge of these vehicles by proficiently answering my questions. I'm always skeptical of a business that carries 5 and 1 star reviews. A bit fishy. So I brought my car to the place and they pretty much worked on the high dollar easy fixes first. When it came to the full system, they removed and cleaned the fuel tank but also threw away the sender, so I ended up with an inoperative fuel gauge. Rather than ask me about it they simply put it back together without the fuel sensor, claiming the sender was corroded (of course it was as it was part of the fix). Who does that? I obviously would have paid for a new sensor for 300 bucks and I expected to have to do it. So the fuel injector system is very tricky on my 250SL, and, go figure, they played with it without knowing the system (mechanical injection) and made it worse. So after 2500 dollars and a bewildering explanation from Sandor, I get on Interstate 25 and the car dies in the fast lane with nowhere to even pull over. I don't scare easily but that was pretty scary. Sandor explained to me after this incident, in his usual calm and patronizing demeanor, that if I would just bring the car back they would look at it again. I would never recommend this shop as they represent the worst kind of exploitation one may fear from an independent Mercedes repair facility. Go to Autohaus. They fixed everything mentioned for much less and advised me whoever tried to adjust the mechanical fuel injection system had no idea what they were dealing with. Nuff said. read more

Took my 2012 vehicle last week for its scheduled repair, plus replace headlights. They have also been watching my brake pads through the last 2 appointments, trying to stretch as much safe use out of them as possible, but finally they had to be replaced. They have been caring for our two MB's for a few years now and I have found their turnaround much quicker and their prices much better than the dealership. Plus, I have been able to deal with the same Service Manager the entire time, which is a big plus. At the dealership, I dealt with 3 different service managers in a two-year time frame and in one case they didn't fix the car and I had to bring it back. In another, they gave me information that was untrue. I am happy now to be in Star Tech's good hands and I won't go anywhere else! read more

These guys do great honest work. I had transmission issues that the Mercedes Place (Murray Motor) looked at last year. The Murray Motor folks charged me $2k to tell me I needed a new transmission. Sandor really go into it and found out I only needed a new transmission control panel. Then he went a step further and found a used panel for maximum investment in case that was not the problem after all. I walked away paying $600 instead of $6000 for a whole new transmission. My car drives better than it has in years. I felt like they treated me fairly and got me a great deal. They shoot you straight, which is especially important to me as a single woman. Avoid this place. They're unqualified hacks. Within a mile of leaving this place my Mercedes broke down. I then took it to the dealer and they had to replace the transmission, total cost of about $4,000, plus. The cause by verified by the Service manager at the dealer and place I bought and exchanged the transmission from was that Startech used silicone sealer to fix a small leak. They over did, improperly, the fix causing the transmission to fail. They to date have not paid for the fix. I even went to court, but the judge required the Service Manager to be there, which was impossible. Warning stay away. read more

DO NOT USE THIS MECHANIC! I own a plumbing and heating business that uses a Mercedes Sprinter van for our technician. I scheduled with the lady in the front office to have my front and rear brake pads and sensors to be replaced, and also to look at my A/C system. During this call I made sure that they had my VIN number to order and have the parts, in which she verified she had my VIN number and the tech would have the parts for the job. Then the day before the appointment I called in again to see if they were going to have the parts and what time frame they would have the van. I was told they blocked off between 8am-12pm for the job. I dropped off the vehicle in the morning and walked down the street to get breakfast. I returned after a long breakfast to their customer lobby. Let's say conservatively 10am. Then I sat there until 12:30pm until I asked the office for an update. I was concerned because my van was still in the same location just sitting inside but not in a work bay. Then the owner came out and tried to tell my excuse after excuse as to why they did not do the brake job that I requested and my a/c was working now but he thought it was the compressor clutch. I am in the air conditioning business for residential not automotive but I can tell you I know enough to know that the clutch is working fine. I was concerned about a pressure issue in the system being too high but he said nothing to me about this at all. Trying to tell me "It was an honest mistake." That might be, but as a professional mechanic like this you should be able to do simple things like have the parts for the job, especially after I did everything I could to make sure that would happen. Now my business with 1 van lost a day in wages that would have been brought in, and now I still have to take my van to somebody else to get the job done and I'm going to lose that time as well. These guys were great! I was passing through town near the beginning of a long road trip and needed a bypass hose and thermostat housing gasket for my old '84 300TD Mercedes... not only did they go out of their way to produce both obscure parts, they were friendly and made an effort to help me out despite not knowing me at all. Sandor even let me take a sunroof wind deflector off an old 300 they had out back (mine had blown off in the crazy front range winds just the day before!). The shop was full of nice newer MB models on lifts with certified mechanics attending to them, so I can assume this is a great place to go if you have a newer car or if you're a young DIYer like myself trying to keep it cheap and be thrifty. I made it another 2000 miles to my destination with no major problems and definitely no leaky coolant lines, so I'm really glad I stopped by Startech. I would say StarTech Mercedes is probably the best MB mechanical repair/upgrade place in Denver. their stuff is very responsible and knowledgeable of what they are doing. The shop owner Mr. Sandor could always give accurate estimate on both the cost and the time. I did both a car repair and some aftermarket upgrades for my MB by StarTech and I am very satisfied with both of the results. Yelp works! Really glad I found Star Tech. I was about ready to give up on MB's as everyone, ESPECIALLY the dealerships, seemed all too glad to be snobs and overcharge and they were doing YOU a big favor by doing it. Just a big game. I read the yelp reviews of Star Tech, went down to their big, well lit, squeaky clean shop and was really impressed. Sandor, the owner, was really a straight up guy. Looks you straight in the eye and a good firm handshake. They took it right in and put my ML 320 up on the lift. Lee, the ML specialist, showed me into the shop and we took a look at the undercarriage. Now, how many shop's actually let you into their sacred workplace let alone a tour of the undercarriage? I needed a "B" service as well as replacement of the tie rods, leaky valve cover gasket as well as a failing power steering pump. ( I could hear that already and waited for them to tell me about it.) All was done in 1 day and was very reasonably priced. They also steam cleaned my engine as I had been living out in the sticks and it was very dusty. This was done for free as well as a couple of other small items I did not ask for. A family owned business. This is how America should work. Highly recommended and I'm a perfectionist engineer who is very hard to please. read more

They always quickly find out what's wrong, call me with a list of the issues and help me prioritize what I can afford based on what's most pressing (an important detail when you're talking expensive old German parts and a 30-year-old car). Basically my front passenger headlight was out, driver door would not lock at all so I drive around with red dashboard flashing all the time. I own a 98 ML 320 and a 02 Sprinter van. My involvement with STARTECH goes back to 2001 I believe. The ML has been serviced at STARTECH routinely since the start. The ML currently has 215,000 miles on it and still going strong...thanks to the service from STARTECH. The Sprinter is used with our business. We drive the vehicle on extended trips to the East Coast, Texas and the Pacific Northwest. A few years back, STARTECH began working on Sprinters a bit due to their popularity. Mine goes to Startech consistently at this point. It is critical the Sprinter runs flawlessly on these business trips. Breakdowns are not an option...thus far we have had none. At 255,000 miles...the Sprinter is tireless on these trips. Great fuel mileage...a comfortable ride...and an error free track record on the road ia all anyone can ask for in our business. Sandor and Maria are the owners of STARTECH. Everything is up front...estimates, time of repair, etc. I am never surprised and I know the work will be done to perfection. The Techinicians are excellent. Things are explained in clear detail once the work is complete. Danger stay away. These guys turned a $60 adjustment into a $5,400 fix of their mistake which they have still failed to pay. They ruined my transmission in a car that had never had transmission problems before. My car broke down within a mile or two of the shop. I took my car to the Mercedes Dealer for an analysis and repair and they found the faulty action that caused the problem, done by Star Tech. Everyone makes mistakes: so why not fix your mistakes and move on. I'd strongly advise against going there, as they don't have enough integrity to cover their screw ups. Also the Colorado Court Systems wants you to bring in to court an "expert witness", such as the Mercedes Shop Manager to present your position, they wont take his written testimony and phone number. obviously this is unrealistic, to have the shop manager take the day off, at your expense. So this shop has the potential to cost you a lot of time and money. I'd go somewhere else, the dealers are much more reliable with a good warranty, honesty and quality service. The Colorado Court System is weighted 99% towards business, not even close to being justice system. read more
