While driving through Sacramento toward Chico, California, we stopped by Starbread Bakery on Mack Road. A few of my Yelp friends recommended the señorita breads as a must try. We arrived in the parking lot around 6:40 AM. They're sign says that they open at 7:00 AM. However, at 6:45 AM, they allowed us in. I purchased 60 pieces of señorita bread. They brought it to me from the back piping hot. At the time, their sales terminal was having issues, so they only took cash. Now to the bread: By all means, these bread looked good, and tasted even better. It tasted like soft warm sweet dinner rolls. The only issue is the consistency of each one. Some had a lot of butter dripping as you took a big bite. Others just made your fingers oily. The bottom line is, its all good. As a yelp friend recommended to me, señorita breads are good, but not 3 hour drive to eat good. If you are near a Starbread bakery, I urge you to get some. If you live further away, wait until you happen to pass near one. read more

With Hubby from Vallejo, he never even tried this Starbread location because he felt it could not even touch the Vallejo location. Well was he wrong??!!! Heck Yea!!! This place is DANGEROUS! It's summer time and I am trying my best to look not terrifying in a bikini, and this place is not helping. I have literally been here 3 times in the last two weeks. Sure, I can blame it on my kids because they literally get into arguments about who gets the last senorita bread. But we all know who digs into those bad boys before they even get into the house! If you have never had senorita bread, let me just say SHAME ON YOU! I belonged to your same sad fraternity up until about a month ago and since then I have tapped the open vein and poured delicious, buttery, sugary goodness right in. The reason these things are so dangerous is because they are so light! Eat one? Sure! Eat two? Might as well? Eat five? Now we are COOKING! And on top of that? They are crazy cheap. Omg, hands down THE BEST señorita bread out there! I came here twice in one day to grab two boxes of these little fellas. I came here once around 2:30PM and again around 6:50PM and both times, there was a line. I only saw one lady working there and she looked like she's in her 50s, yet the line went by pretty quick. There were about 6 people in front of me and I only had to stand there for 5 minutes. I ordered 15 señoritas, which was $6 and it came in a box. When I got in the car, I just had to take a picture of these babies. I tried to take a picture as fast as I could because the bread was burning my lap! I also couldn't find any reviews that really told me what señorita bread was and I hadn't been lucky enough to have ever tried this before. So I kept delaying my visit to this bakery... until today and boy, am I glad I made that quick trip on a happy Sunday morning! All the yelp craze is totally legit, señorita bread - in all its warm, simple, soft, buttery, sweet glory - is such a great treat!! The clearest description I can give: señorita bread is like an ultra croissant-like soft hollow piece of bread, with gooey sugar lightly spread inside the bread. Hungry? You should be. At $2/5 bread pieces, this makes for a perfect potluck addition and I promise, your friends/colleagues will love you for enlightening them on "Sacramento's specialty bread" as I called it! This bread NEEDS to be warm, so if it's gotten cold (because somehow you've managed to not eat them all while they're warm), be sure to microwave them for about 30-45 seconds (for a batch of 15) before serving! Final plus:: Great customer service! Their señorita breads are amazing! ...especially when they are nice and warm fresh out of the oven! These little sweet buns are oh so bad for you with lots of butter and sugar, but honestly they are irresistibly ADDICTING. The prices for each bread is cheaper when you order more by the quantity. The last time I ordered 120 pieces of bread for $48. (The price cuts off 60 breads for $24.) I have tried the cream cheese bread before (sold in the little window case when you walk in) but it didn't taste as good and fresh as the señorita bread. Don't expect stellar service here. The last time I was here placing an order, the old lady didn't even say one word. Walked in and told her what I wanted and out the door I go happily with my boxes of bread. I have to say I LOVE THE SEÑORITA breads!! They are always fresh and they come in different size of boxes. They're like donuts but softer and not too sweet, just the right amount of sweetness. One isn't ever enough. The bakery is small and there will be other goodies in the front (which I haven't tried yet). The downfall of the Señorita bread is that they harden after a while so you'd have to microwave it to get it soft again. I have to say, everyone should try them out though. read more

So gooodddd - I love the senorita bread. This place is off of 99 which is a little far from me but when I am in the neighborhood, I stop by to get it to satisfy my craving. I think the price is very reasonable. The soft, chewiness of the bread is so irresistible. I love the sweetness and savoriness of it, they're like little bites of heaven. Once you eat one, you feel like you went to heaven and you just can't eat one, because once you take one bite, you keep coming back for more. They're small but it's so easy to eat more than 5 in one sitting! They take credit cards for purchases over $6 and you should purchase more than $6 if you're making a trip here. Make it count, make it worth it. They are best when they are warm, so get them while they fresh and hot - eat it before it cools down! read more

I had a co-worker bring a box full of the Seniorita Breads for everyone and the breads were gone like hot cakes! The breads are made daily and taste so Fluffy Fresh. The butter is not overwhelming and takes a few bites to finish. It's amazing that the store survives on this almost exclusively. Small bakery. You walk in and there's a case of goods, labeled. On top of the case is a hot case of empanadas.. But, I guess the real draw for these folks is the seniority bread.. little sugared up rolls. It has to be a great bread to not need any accompaniment. This is good solo. The recipe must of change or something because it's less sweet and buttery; like it had the right amount of butter and sweetness for someone like myself and my family that doesn't like things too sweet. We went in about 30 minutes before closing time, so most of the goodies were out (well the ones I wanted). The lady who work the front was very friendly and courteous.
