This location is just ok. Staff is friendly and this is the only Starbucks on the way to my job that has a drive through. The only thing is the line is always long so I end up just going inside. This visit, I was greeted by large flies. Eww. And I odered a drink that just didn't seem up to par with the other locations. This was the second time I ordered a white chocolate mocha and it had no sweetness to it. The first time I made this complaint, I was offered a free drink upon my next visit. My advice to people who don't frequent this location is to taste your drink before you leave. read more

While traveling, I exited because of highway sign for Starbucks. IT is 2.2 miles OFF the Highway!!! The location was infuriating. Ok, normally I wouldn't review a Starbucks, but here we are. This location is a nightmare. Nightmare drive-thru, nightmare inside, nightmare people. The drive-thru was 10 people deep and actually blocking thru-way traffic in the shopping center. So, I decided to go inside.... this place is entirely too small for the volume of people in line. The line had wrapped through and around the unkempt tables and chairs of the seating area. Why?? Behind the counter is just a nightmare too. Why are there literally 7 people working back there? Seems like it's overstaffed and complicating things since each person seemed to be kind of doing their own thing. And the staff were unbelievably rude. The lady in front of me order 2 of the same sandwiches - they forgot one. When it was ready, it was sort of tossed onto the drink pickup area from over the barista's shoulder. The star is for the drive thru feature. This location is FILTHY. It's infested with an incredible amount of flies. The chairs and tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down in days. This location is a 50/50 chance in service. Most of the employees are very friendly and gives you the overall welcome when you come in the store or come in their convenient drive-thru. But I am not writing this review to state the good facts. I am a coffee lover and I expect to feel welcomed when I come in. I make a coffee run almost everyday and it is practically one of the first things I do everyday. I had a terrible experience with one of the employees. I had asked her to recommend me a drink and what she thought about the new espresso drinks. This girl rolls her eyes and says," what do you want, it's not that hard to choose." What a terrible customer service I went there at 1:30pm and I placed an order for venti pike roast but the lady said she only had dark blend coffee, and she suggested if I could take dark blend and I said I didn't want it. So she told me to wait 2-3mins then she will make the pike roast. So I did wait about 10-15mins and she was using her phone listening to music through the earphone/headphone for 10-15mins. So I went to her if the coffee was ready and then she gave to me.... she didn't even say thank you or sorry or anything.. this is the worst customer service I ever had in Starbucks. I've given the store manager and the distric manager a problem for the staff, but there's no answer. It is composed of really irresponsible employees. I'm so glad that my husband and I found a new Starbucks to go to. This is by far the WORSE Starbucks in Maryland. Let me just start there. The employees are unfriendly, slow with your order (check out the drive thru lines), and no one in there knows how to make a decent coffee. Except one. It either comes, too hot, too sweet, too cold, too burnt, or just plain . . . disgusting. Mind you, my husband and I were frequent visitors at this specific location for a few years, and that was only because he works right near them. So it was for convenience. However, each time we went in there, we were never greeted politely--though they see us all the time. And, you would think by now, they would know exactly how we liked our drinks to be made. Even the new location says "Extra pump right?" EXACTLY. Apparently, THIS location has amnesia. The staff continued to get worse and worse with attitude, and this one guy even tried flirting with me a bit--making it totally uncomfortable and the last straw, hence to why I HAD to finally find another location, because apparently he has amnesia too--like he doesn't see me come in with my husband. Seriously! On a brighter note, the only person who knows how to make drinks in there is Sam, but she's barely there. Everyone else--nope. And the new girls, are just as unfriendly as the old staff. Not a bad location. Its like the only retail business left in that shopping center, because the Giant owns the old anchor store at the end and blocks other supermarkets from buying or renting there so as not to compete with their new Giant across the way. This starbucks serves all of Burtonsville and has the drive through and walk in area. Again parking is never a problem because there is literally a whole shopping center parking lot that services this Starbucks. People there are nice. Service is swift. read more

This is my regular Starbucks, so I have to give it 5 stars, mostly because the staff is always friendly, and I have had very minimal issues with drink mistakes, once I believed I'd got the wrong drink, and they made me a new one no questions asked (which I believe is Starbucks company policy). However I come here with friends all the time so I figured I might as well review them. Not a bad Starbucks for sure, I really do wish they would expand however. Also, the Starbucks on my campus has made my drinks wrong two days in a row, and does not except the Starbucks app coupons, so I now know, I can trust no other Starbucks. The drive thru was pretty slow, but it was pouring rain and we were being lazy so the drive thru was efficient. During summer, I didn't have a problem. But I think it's because it was a good set of workers. Drive thru and walking in was good. When fall came, do not walk in..it's super cold! And service was bad. Prepare to bring a jacket/sweater/sweatpants, some type of winter clothes. Everyone was complaining that it was way to cold. The whether outside was 84 with some humidity. Many asked to turn it down and no workers did. The people now seem to not care, slow and it's very inconsistent. Baristas are not preparing drinks as ordered and employees lie about preparing drinks correctly on 4 consecutive visits. Manager also issued 6 free on our next visit cards that are not redeemable for all these untrustworthy service occurrences. This store obviously misses the mark on the Starbucks brand. It's Starbucks. You know what you're getting into. This particular location is fairly spot on for service... most of the time. It seems to be a training site, though, as they have a decent amount of turnover. Most of the staff are engaging and amiable, though, but don't expect an hour long conversation when they get really busy. This location is no better or worse than most, though. If I could, I would have given them zero stars. This particular location needs some serious improvement. Although it is very conveniently located off of route 29, its location within the shopping center was poorly chosen. There is always a long line at the drive thru, which runs into the road and blocks off the parking lot. You can count on being in the drive thru for *at least* 10 minutes at 9am during the week. But this is the least of my concerns. Every time I go there, they run out of something. Service is extremely slow, and it seems like there is a high employee turnover. Every few weeks I get a new barista who looks very confused and frazzled. For a location like this (drive thru right off a highway), there needs to be better management. The staff must be trained well enough to keep up with the amount of customers who stop by this location. Not to mention the drinks; coffee is always burned, they always add too much or too little syrup in the signature drinks, they don't get your order 100% right, coffee cups are always sticky... Terrible location, backs drive thru traffic up in the street so you cant pull into the back parking lot. This location is ALWAYS SLOW and backed up...like going inside makes no difference. Just be prepared to spend 15-20min waiting every time you go. Still, service is decent, and most of the time Baristas have been kind, helpful and smiley. Stopped into my local Starbuck's for some tea when I was sick. I got the Zen Green Tea ( Green suggested by a very cute customer behind me. More on that...) This Starbuck's in located in the dying Burtonsville Shopping Center. One of the few stores left. It does good business though. For a small place that gets traffic from both entryways it keeps busy. The drive-thru is convenient and the small patio area next to it is covered and very convenient. The lounge area is big enough (by Starbuck's standards) and it's rectangular, which is nice. Not enough outlets for energy, but enough. There are always cuties coming into the place so I do enjoy a little people-watching. I don't go to Starbuck's often, but when I do, I come here. One annoying thing though is the flies that buzz around inside the place. Def. a turn-off and enough to knock this rating down a Star. read more

Unfortunately I was highly disappointed with the service tonight. I was in the drive through for a good 10 mins before pulling forward. I then was told that the drive through closes at 9:40. So I then went into the store to order my drinks. I ordered two of the new cloud macchiatos. I only received one to order. The other drink looked like a plain macchiato. I've been to quite a few starbucks. I think I go maybe 3 times a week, Every starbucks that I've gone to has been good. customer service, and speed. I went to this particular one at 4.20. Very empty. However. the two people working in the back were extremely slow. This particular location has a drive thru window, but no cars. I waited at the register and it took them a little longer that I thought it should have considering they weren't doing anything to help anyone else. Anyways, I ordered iced black coffee. that has to be one of the easiest things to do. just pour, scoop ice, and put the lid on. I was browsing their food window and debating whether or not to get a salad. I read the ingredients and finally chose to get a salad. my drink was not out yet. When it finally did come out, the guy said "you're getting this too?" I said yes, and he was ringing the "new" order on the register. He messed up and said oh fuck......Very professional. he swiped my card and gave it back. no eye contact. no thank you. no have a good day. i just stood there. maybe expecting some receipt. I said thank you and he said okay without even turning around. I went to get my straw, and realized i didn't have a fork for the salad. the forks were chillin behind the counter. I asked for the fork and he gave it to me without a word. this is absolutely the worst starbucks I've ever been to. I will not be coming back to this place read more

I like my Starbucks coffee for it's taste, good and friendly customer service, and relaxing and clean ambiance. However, this Starbucks location was a big disappointment. It's located in what looks like an abandoned shopping center. At night, the lighting is poor (dim) and it feels unsafe and creepy. Therefore, I didn't take my chances using the drive thru. I went inside to order and was not greeted with a smile. The cashier/barista looked disinterested to take my order. In addition, they looked a little disheveled. I noticed one staff member in particular with dyed pink hair. I'm all for dyed hair, but it looked unbrushed/unkept. I expect to be served by people who are clean (especially in the food business) and friendly. If I'm paying $4.50 for a drink- I should at least be greeted with a smile. This is my first review on Yelp and I have held off long enough as I am furious at how this Burtonsville Starbucks is operated! I am always on the run and it is very convenient to have your local Starbucks equipped with a Drive-thru. However, it never fails that this particular location ALWAYS seems to run out of something! In fact, it happens so often that I play a game with my 6 year old daughter to guess prior to driving up to the window on what they unfortunately have run out of today. No joke! They run out of a variety of item's including, cups, lids, breakfast items, pastries and drinks!! But what happen today really set me off...I hear the same line quite often..."Sorry sir, we can't make that drink today as we have run out... can we get you something else today?". I wait patiently until September to buy probably the only drink I actually enjoy paying over $4 for... Pumkin Spice! They of course run out of it this morning and it was the last straw of my silent treatment. The bottom line is I pay a ridiculous amount of money for a cup of premium coffee and I expect two things, a quality product and great customer service! Whoever is the GM of this particular Starbucks needs ensure that this store never runs out of ANY items! If an item is running low then someone needs to be sent out to the closest Starbucks store in the area that has that item! This store is Poorly operated to say the least. Drive-thru workers are rude most of the time. There are a couple of very friendly, customer focused people who work the drive- thru at this location, but 85% of the time it's a rude female that waits on me. Don't start out with" what am I getting you", or just"hi" and when I finally realize you're ready for my order ask "anything else"? When I say no, just say "ok". What am I supposed to do with that ? Just assumed we were fine and hoped my order would be right, since I got no repeat of my order, no total and no thank you, drive around. I don't expect to make a new bff at Starbucks, but I would like to start my morning with a pleasant interaction and a correct order. Also, Whenever I order a muffin I ask for it not warmed and at least 3 out of 5 times it's so hot I can't handle it. I don't like microwaved food. Is that ok with you ? News flash for Baristas - iced coffee is not cold brew. And it's extremely easy to tell. When you hand me a room temperature drink with most of the ice melted I know it's been sitting out. The only reason I go to Starbucks anymore is because of the cold brew, with 65% less acid I no longer have stomach problems. You give me coffee that's been hot brewed and sat out, I get acid, and it's not worth four and a half dollars. Do your job and make sure you have the stuff on hand. read more

I love the staff at this store! They are ALL super friendly and efficient, warm and personable. However, I do have two major complaints. Today I measured the indoor temperature at 30 degrees. This is not unusual. I realize you don't want people just hanging around all day, but this store is ALWAYS much too cold! The time of year seems not to matter, even in the summer the a/c is way too high. 2nd complaint has to do with a group that virtually takes over this store EVeRY. Sunday. They are extremely loud and inconsiderate of others in the store. Literally (for real) you cannot hear yourself think. The staff never, never approach them about their noise, and I think. I got my light iced coffee and it was terrible. the last three times were not that great either! I love Starbucks. Just not this location. the wait is always too long then to have your order either wrong or just nasty! Today was the last straw for this one. If I'm that desperate again there is a 7-11 up the street. Only other alternative is to drive a few miles out of my way to another Starbucks.
