I love Starbucks - the menu selection, quality of coffee, nationwide stores, friendly staff. All of it. Believed in Mr Shultz's vision, etc. Which is why I was very disappointed with the quality of the customer service experience that I just received here when I ordered my coffee with the Mobile pick up app. From the App, the store was open until 9 pm. There was nothing on the App to indicate otherwise. So, when I arrived the front doors were locked but there were three employees inside. It was 8:30pm. The employee saw me and I made eye contact with the cashier. I tapped the door repeatedly and patiently and she still ignored me. I finally said, "I have a pick up order". She then gestured for another staff to open the door and give me my drink that had been sitting on the counter for the minutes I was waiting. Now, I understand, we are in the middle of a global pandemic and perhaps the crew changed the door hours - but again, there was no notice to me the customer. I have worked in food services/retail and I would never, ever ignore a paying customer who was evidently needing assistance, and required the courtesy of an acknowledgment. General public respect and a simply greeting are the basis of one's professional skills - not the start. When I finally received my drink, I was informed that "the drive through was open" and evidently I was supposed to know that customers are to pick up the mobile order at that other window. Sigh. Had I known this, I would have not gone to the dining door and wasted my time looking at an employee who was clearly ignoring me. Very disappointed visit this evening. read more

I hardly go to Starbucks, but I needed a quick bite so I got the ham and cheese sandwich. I ordered I without cheese, and I was disappointed to find there was cheese in it halfway through eating it :( I thought it was the yolk of the egg at first, but I was wrong. Alright I was just driving through Irvine and it's endless strip malls that have the same exact things. I've been driving around looking for a non-crowded place to study and this place just randomly appeared out of no where. Literally no where. My compliments to the barista because this is the one time I've enjoyed a latte and it wasn't overly bitter or weak like 99% of starbucks. So you are the best barista ever for starbucks. No idea what your name is. Buuuuuut. Priority seems to have went to the drive thru people and i waited a long time for a drink even though i was the only person that ordered one inside. In terms of drinks and food, you'll find your standard Starbucks grub here. I would give it four stars, since customer service is typically very good, but the lines here, especially the drive-thru can get ridiculously long. Granted, this is a very crowded center, especially during lunch hour, which makes parking very difficult. I couldn't find a spot close and figured I'd save time in the drive-thru...nope, was waiting to order about 20 minutes, then another ten minutes for the drink. Obviously, you can't blame anyone in particular, but it's just so crowded, and there wasn't any apology or anything for those of us stuck in line. If you're going to get your Starbucks fix here, morning or off-hour would be your best bet. read more

Why do I keep coming here? In addition to the snail's pace service today the service we received from Sofia was less than helpful. When we inquired about new beverages and exploring new options to try she replied. "Everything should be on the menu." Unfortunately this was not true, as the drive-thru menu is not exhaustive. Been here once, as it has a drive thru and I had my lovely daughter with me. I went through the drive thru right before everyone got off work, so my experience was great. Was, no longer than, perhaps 5 minutes from order to finish. My drink is typically simple, unless I'm experiencing cravings, then I'll modify. I understand there are some Starbucks that can be slow with service...but this particular Starbucks is ALWAYS busy. On top of that, it seems that only half of the employees really work with a sense of urgency in response to the constant hustle and bustle of the store with midday coffee runs from the corporate employees in the area. There is very limited seating in the cafe and it is almost always full. The drive thru can get pretty packed and slow too so be ready to be flexible and just park your car and walk in. That is, if you find parking! How can anyone not love Starbucks?! Yes, I am that basic girl that goes to Starbucks every single day and to be honest this is my go to location. It is prime because it has a drive through and not many in Irvine do, so with that in mind expect some crazy lines. Yes, there are those days when I am a grouch and need my coffee, and I don't want to sit in line for 15 minutes, but hey the cheerful workers make up for it. Every staff member I have encountered here is always so polite and pleasant! Maybe that is also why I keep returning! I have no complaints and continue to be a repeat customer. I order the same custom drink every week and have never had an issue with it. UNTIL TODAY. I order through the mobile app and pay extra for "Extra Carmel drizzle", my favorite. Today I received my drink and it tasted completely different. There was no Carmel drizzle and had cinnamon powder. I asked for NO Cinnamon Powder. It was clearly printed on the cup. I asked them to remake it and it STILL CAME BACK with no Carmel drizzle. If I am paying $7 for a drink, I expect it to be what I asked for. There needs to be someone who double checks the drinks before they are given to the customer because my drink was wrong TWICE. I stopped by here on my way to Central Bark on a Saturday AM, and there was no one else in the drive through line. The closest Starbucks to where I live had about 20 cars in the drive through, so this was a welcome sight. Even better was when they made my drink properly. I asked (as I always do) for a dopio machiato, a double shot of espresso with a bit of foam. Usually, I get a double shot with a ton of foam on top. Here, I got just the right amount. I have never seen so many ventis ordered in my entire life and ventis take waaaay longer to make! I got schooled. I usually frequent this location due to the less than efficient drive thru window. But, last week I decided to pay a visit inside since I was looking to purchase one of their tumblers. Just as I was about to pay, I remembered the receptionist at my work tipping me off on their refill policy. I then inquired with the barista about the refill policy on the tumbler. Since purchasing the tumbler would mean that I am bring in my own cup, it doesn't quite make sense that a refill was 50 cents and filling the tumbler was a mere 10 cents off....right? So when presented with the logic, the barista damn near ripped my head off. Then he goes on to add "well its not fair, that people reuse these cups and use them for days while the other people don't...yadda yadda". So then question now is, who put that policy in place and why isn't it uniformly used by all starbucks? I mean seriously there's no sense in getting his tighty whitey's in a bunch. read more

I'm here more than I'd like to admit, but I love coffee. This location is so convenient and the consistency of how they make their drinks plus the employees at this location are what keep me coming 5+ times a week. I usually do a mobile order and within minutes my coffee is ready to go and is consistently the way I like it. One morning, my iced coffee had a little too much cream and when I got to the order pickup, the barista looked at my drink and said, "oh it's too light, I'll remake it." In the area due to a relay race I am running. We drove into the parking lot and saw a line coming out the door and panicked. But we had no other choice, we had to stop here. The line went by so fast! The baristas were on top of their game and you can tell they work great as a team. Their customer service was not affected by the huge line of people. I ordered my regular skinny caramel macchiato and the low fat turkey sandwich. My drink came out at a reasonable time and it tasted great! I wish my local Starbucks was as good as this one. I love this Starbucks. Love that they open at 5:30am or is it earlier. Perfect for my work schedule. They are always extremely friendly even at that time in the morning. My favorite drink is a IC half and half 7 pump cl syrup. They have great breakfast sandwiches now too. I love the new oatmeal with blueberries as well. The drive-thru is a bit slow for my liking but I have seen worse. But the drive-thru is definitely very convenient for sometimes i am on the rush and need my ICM now. This starbucks has many challenges: The parking lot is a maze and its horrible to park. The drive through people who allow the line to spill far into the parking lot seem like the kind of people who would push past an old lady in a food line...thank you Starbucks patrons. While inside having ordered an iced coffee, a poured drink... I watched as my cup was repeatedly passed up so the frazzled male barista could make other drinks. When asked why he wasn't making the drink, by one of his coworkers, he replied- We are our of iced coffee... The coworker turned to the other counter, grabbed some ice coffee, poured it and put the drink on the counter... Having once worked at a starbucks, I know there are procedures and orders of operation, but common sense needs to be procedure number one. Get pour drinks out, especially if there is only one... This is probably the busiest Starbucks I have ever been to. Located smack dab in the middle of a huge commercial area, these guys open at 4:30am to cater to those who begin work at an ungodly hour and close at 9:00pm for the ones who have an ungodly amount of work. Every time that I have been here, it's always busy, be it inside the store or via drive-thru. But despite the morning, afternoon, and evening rushes, the store is managed incredibly well, never understaffed and always putting out the best tasting Starbucks beverages in an unbelievably efficient manner. The staff is ALWAYS friendly, even when being harassed by verbally abusive guests. They are always smiling and very welcoming. You can also tell that there's a strong camaraderie amongst them, which is always pleasant to see. One particular staff member, named Mia, took my order this morning. She was kind enough to hold a conversation with me as I figured out what I was going to order. And she is also part of the reason why I am writing this review, as she represents just how convivial this particular Starbucks location is. Came here on Saturday. The line was ridiculous. After waiting 10 minutes, one of the workers declared "we're all of out banana bread". Super dissapointed because this is the only reason we came here. My son loves their banana bread. We got out of line after confirming they didnt have any left, and low and behold one of the workers ran out to the parking lot to great me with a small banana bread. He said he didnt feel right selling it because it was a smaller piece, thus he declared they were out, but gave us the small piece for free. We were sooo happy. WHY on earth would I write a review about Starbucks?? Well, being from Seattle, a small friendly Starbucks is just a tiny reminder of home (and no, I do not have stock in Starbucks. Or Microsoft. Or Nordstrom, or Amazon...or Boeing....or....you get the point.) I remember going to a 24/7 Starbucks near University of Washington during finals week, when the house felt stuffy, when I was bored...etc. Starbucks has lost its' neighborhood appeal. It is a massive company. But this location has friendly staff, quick service, a small enough space to make it feel cozy but not too cozy, and food items I have actually not seen at other Starbucks locations before. Take for instance, the Top Pot donuts (also a Seattle company I believe), and occasionally, Parisian macaroon "sets." Too bad the macaroons have been out of sight for a while though. And despite what anyone says about crappy food from cafes, I would actually vouch for Starbucks' yogurt parfaits - they are convenient and filling. They are never expired and taste fresh. I also noticed one of the assistant managers (?) giving an old lady a free gift card for not having made her drink exactly the way she wanted it. Talk about service and patience....if this was my coffee shop, it'd be "MY WAY or the HIGHWAY!" Hahaha! :P I looove that this location has a drive-thru. I live really close to here and it's "tradition" to come here right before a long road trip to the desert/Vegas/wherever. But like other reviewers wrote, this drive-thru can get congested pretty quickly during lunch hours. Yes indeed Starbucks is not very affordable. That is why I consider it a "treat." Lately, I have been utilizing Starbuck's mobile order. It is an absolute time saver. If you're not using it already, then you definitely need to check it out in their app. I usually place my order before I leave for work, and I just stop by the Starbucks to pick up my order. It definitely beats waiting in the drive-thru or indoor line. And speaking of the drive-thru line in the morning...... always, always long. If I had to choose between the 2, I'd just go into the store to place my order. It seems like I'd get my order faster that way. Drinks here are always consistently made, and I love that. I've been headed to this particular Starbucks each day of the week before work a drink and bagel. Always a bagel, because carbs and cream cheese. Side-note: Mainly because the medication I'm taking needs to be taken with food. Anyways, for the past week, all Starbucks weren't selling bagels. I called to ask why, and there was a recall. Ok, fine with me, I can just order something else. One week later (today), I noticed that the bagels were available again, yay! I ordered one, and I was terribly disappointed in the quality. The bagels looked much smaller, and biting into & chewing them was like chewing cardboard and rubber at the same time. The bagel was incredibly chewy, a dog wouldn't even want it. By the time I was finished chewing the bagel, my jaw felt like it was going to fall off due to so much chewing and gnawing at the bagel. At this point, I would rather get oatmeal, which has always been like cardboard to me. I am taking my time out of my studies to write this email about one of your employees. I had ordered an egg and cheddar breakfast sandwich and waited for about 10 minutes which I thought was strange. However, I heard my name being called for a bagel with cream cheese the whole time I was waiting. Giving the benefit of the doubt that 'Kevin' was a common name, no one seemed to pick up the bagel. I approached to get my drink and asked the barista (no name on her apron) if an egg and cheddar order was placed. I knew that she was very busy making drinks, but this employee's tone was dismissive as she blatantly told me that my order would come out and that this area was specifically where the drinks were made. Yes, I see that. I only approached this barista because of proximity, like any normal person would if they had a question about their order. I asked because I had a feeling that the bagel order was a mistake on their end, but she never gave me the chance to elaborate. This employee was a tall female, with short, curly hair. She may have been the manager? Again, no name tag. Understanding that this Starbucks is very busy, I went to another employee and she kindly helped me. My intuition about the mix-up was correct. The incorrect bagel order WAS for me, so they went ahead and got my egg and cheddar. If I had waited for my egg and cheddar, who knows how long I would have been waiting for my order. I am very displeased with the service I got from that barista making drinks this morning. Instead of dismissing the customer, please redirect the customer to a more available employee who could offer the appropriate service. read more

I've always been a big Starbucks girl. Iced caramel macchiatos and lately, regular coffee with hazelnut syrup are my everyday lil helpers. This Starbucks is relatively new to Irvine and it has a drive through! But I didn't use the drive through...next time, for sure.
